This is awesome, can you do more tutorials on how to modify the QUICKSTART elements, I feel like it is very difficult, to modify the premade templates. It sort of defeats the purpose of QuickStart, if you need to be well verse to modify a predesigned drag and drop.

@@tmitchem81 Thanks so much for watching! Is there something in particular you are interested in or wanting to do? I've been holding off a bit on new Captivate videos because I am hoping the new version comes out soon. It's looking like that will be more user friendly (let's hope!).

@@saiprakashkrishnamurthy6889 Thank you! It depends on the job and what they are looking for. Captivate is a good tool to know but not every company has it and not every role in learning and development needs to use it.

Looking at pre-built projects/interactions is an excellent idea to learn Captivate.
I learned when freelancing for the first time. I spent many late nights trying to work things out from scratch. It can be a little buggy. Working solo and tight time frames, I felt the pressure of having clients and having no one to ask. In these conditions, Captivate was very difficult to learn, but I got there. I know the product inside out now. I find switching to Storyline a breeze (though Storyline to Captivate would be very difficult).
If these pre-built projects/interactions were available at the time, I would have fast-tracked my journey. I can say from my experience, you have very good tips here, Jeff!

Thanks, Ben! Captivate was my first e-learning authoring tool so I have a bit of nostalgic affection for it but they (Adobe) really do seem to make things harder than they need to. I was really excited about the announcement for the new version "coming soon". That was in October. Still no new version. 😕

@@yourlearningcareer I think I have a dose of Stockholm Syndrome for Captivate. I’m really quite happy to plod away in it, though I know the user interface is meh! I did see the preview of the new version of Captivate. It’s been a long time coming. I wouldn’t be surprised if the first cut of that is super buggy.

Useful, informative tutorial on Captivate 2019 I hope you have videos on the new version of Capitvate 2022. I like how you use the templates as a practice file and will explore the features in 2019. Thank you for explaining the States and the Actions inside Captivate 2019.

This was really good content. I am transitioning from corporate training to e-learning developer and am finding it a challenge. I lean on my facilitation skills for knowledge transfer and my "screens" are considered background or filler. I look forward to more videos on adobe captivate to enhance my sills. Awesome channel!

Thanks a lot! I transitioned from corporate training as well. It can definitely be a challenge but well worth pursuing. Good luck!

Like the simplicity, yet uniqueness way of the video. I’m building a drag & drop activity using Cp. 9 where there are two columns one for the texts and the other for videos. I’ve started a responsive project with the aim of sending it on LMS, I think I’ll need to export and publish as HTML5. The question is when I import the ppt into Cp.9, the MP4 videos don’t play. Since Playability is an issue, do I need to insert media into the text boxes or shapes? What are your recommendations since I’m a beginner.

Is none linear "Storytelling" possible that Powerpoint can't do? Means, you made a decision and the next one(s) depends on what you made previously. Or if the program has no function for that, is it possible to write each made discission in a hidden tab and then I work with this values in my own Visual Basic Script?

Yes! You can definitely do all kinds of branching scenarios using Captivate.

Hi Jeff! I am completely new to Captivate and am encountering a lot of trouble inserting Smart Shapes inside another Smart Shape. I am working on a Table of Contents slide. I first created two fluid boxes, the top box for the title (Today's Menu). In the bottom fluid box, I added a Smart Art circle and added some shading to make it resemble a dinner plate. I now want to insert SmartArt rectangles on top of the plate, each rectangle introducing another section of the presentation. Whenever I attempt to insert a rectangle on the circle, the circle automatically resizes to a fraction of the screen, and the rectangle is inserted to the right of it. What am I doing wrong? I've been stuck for three days and I'm about to throw my laptop out the window! Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Love your videos by the way!

Hi Kevin! I don't know what would be causing that. I suggest asking your question at elearning.adobe.com/discussions/ There are some good superusers there who may have an idea of what is going on.
