Some ppl who claim to be christian are insanely judgmental, talk bad of others. It doesn't paint a good picture for the faith and so many choose to ignore.
god see's what everyone does, and they will be held accountable. but the issue is, what am I going to do with christ, not what everyone else is doing. many people use the excuse that they reject christ because of hypocrites, but that wont save them on judgement day. each person will be held accountable only for what they did. the hypocrite argument is used a lot in order them to avoid dealing with their own sin. secondly, many people don't have a clue what a christian even is. mormons, catholics, moonies and others call themselves christians. lots of confusion.
Well, Jesus is definitely the son of God. I hope more people read the Bible from the very beginning not just the new testament and Paul's writings. May YHWH bless us all and give us the ambition to read His word in context.
I am an atheist. But my atheism does not prevent me from seeing that Sean McDowell and his father are very very good people. Good people can have any religion and still be good people.
Wow! My SIL made this very statement on Christmas Eve! I tried to explain but someone interrupted and changed the subject, sadly. Bc it would've been a great discussion.
If you start out with the attitude/conclusion that the Bible is not relevant because it's "old", then you will most likely not even give yourself a chance to understand it or see how it is speaking directly to our human condition.
This is exactly what im going through 17:32. I beleive in jesus and am saved but i have so many questions and want to grow in my faith and understanding. Growing up in a christian household, im christian, but ive never been taught to ask questions or look for reasons for why christianity is true.
@@TheFightingSheep and if one has continued lack of experience of a person [who purported to be love embodied] then one is more than reasonable to believe this "person" does not exist.
@@TheFightingSheep - you are confusing ontology with logic. Logic goes into decision even if that logic is flawed, overridden or completely ignored. Sorry buddy, you’re just trying to squeeze god into an explanation that doesn’t need it.
Not to be taken negatively, (I hope) but the words we speak reflect an energy that should be of the spirit. There is a good video that shows how words affect water (the body is mostly water and so is this earth actually). I hope you find it a nice view, and may your New Year be blessed with the love of God. 🙂
Did not appreciate the "telling your Jehovah's Witness girlfriend that she was in a cult." Jesus would not have found a kinder way to express yourself to her. ☝🏽
You don't need anything dramatic or negative to happen to question or deconstruct beliefs in your life. You may feel like a good parent and maybe part of being a good parent is to question and deconstruct if you are truly a good parent or just believe that you are. Sometimes asking questions lets you know that you are doing fine, sometimes it lets you know some alterations are required, sometimes it lets you know you took a wrong turn and are headed the wrong way. Yes, disruptions in life almost demand questions, but even when it is smooth sailing, it is not uncommon to question the smooth sailing.
I have zero faith in the Lord. I always assumed God was real based on evidence. Faith is easier to deconstruct than assumption. Questions have arisen regarding the meaning of passages, but no question regarding existence.
Thank you Ruslan for this not scripted interview with one of my favorite Christian singers, his music is spirit filled. We are grateful for your wife Phill Wickham

For me it's making the mistake that being a Christian makes us suddenly good people. I haven't considered this to be true but that's because I read the entire new Testament twice, would like to read through the third time. I read the old Testament one time. not true of every person, but a lot of people say they believe in the Bible but don't follow it properly and haven't actually read it.
Christianity is not doctrine. It's not practice. It's not holiness. It's not the culture wars. It's the love of God in the earth. Without the love of God I am nothing. 1 Cor. 13.
@@benjaminbutler3487 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. That whosoever believeth on Him would not perish but have everlasting life. Doctrine is in your head. Practice is works. Holiness is a measure of incorruptibility. None of those things are the love of God. Christianity is an expression of the love of God in the earth. In the real world. Love never fails. All of these other things fail. Every religion has them. Only Christianity is the love of God. It is a more excellent way.
@@benjaminbutler3487 Doctrine, practice, holiness. All of these things are scaffolding. They are in part. The love of God is the building. When it is complete the scaffolding must be removed. Christianity is the expression of the love of God in the earth.

It's pretty far back but I commented in Ruslans discord a while back, wanting to discuss certain parts of the Bible, the lost years of Christ, etc. It was in the section labeled "hot topics", and i was ATTACKED. Told I didn't believe in Christ, that i was stupid, called names. I dont identify as a Christian, but I believe in Christ and that pattern is how i live my life. Only two people tried to talk to me and conversate. One of them ended up telling me on the phone "You're more Christian than people who actually call themselves Christian". its simple, people are ruining it for others. They are so holier than thou and act like they know everything. they are mean and judgmental and have no room to be corrected. Other christians are ruining christianity. Which fits because Christ never wanted that anyways
I feel you brother. That’s the part that’s makes me most upset. Fellow Christian’s behaving so badly and living up to the bad stereotypes given to Christians.
46:36 “I’m pretty confident Christianity is true, I’m not certain but I’m confident” Would have loved for you to have Sean expand on this. Great video overall loved it listening at 1:24am 🙏
I think he has in his own videos at different points. While you obviously want him to answer, my answer would be faith. Faith is not about being 100% certain.
I think the crushing blow for my issues has been being told God doesn’t love everyone and being told it doesn’t matter how genuine iam because ultimately God decides if He wants to save me or not. I was fairly new in ny walk with the Lord 4 years ago. I was absorbing everything I could got confused on the meaning of a verse looked it up only got Calvinist answers. Starting thinking God didn’t actually choose me. I couldn’t confirm I was chosen and 4 years later I’ve been drowning in confusion. I now have OCD that I never had before and I’m still stuck waiting to understand it all I read the word every day still attend church but I’ve been feeling pretty empty and depressed and I know there will be someone who says feelings are unreasonable which I agree but that doesn’t help my confusion.
I think that the Reformed theology can be taught in simplistic ways that risk some people's faith. I'm sorry for your pain and painful doubts. Some people from within this tradition would probably assure you that your sincere questions and turmoil are actually strong evidence of saving faith. It matters to you! (Even if there are periods of true doubt mixed in with a more confident faith, faith in a living, loving G*d matters to you.) Your personality will also make a difference. Mine finds it easier to accept a faith in a sovereign Heavenly Father who calls me through no inherent goodness of my own. I have more naturally skeptical family members who have wrestled with your questions more than once. Most are grateful for faith in our one true Savior. Sean McDowell father would probably recommend that we "major on the majors," like Sean expressed. Who is Jesus, and what is the meaning and importance of His sacrificial life, death, and resurrection. Bless you.
I ultimately couldn't stay with the Church because I could never get behind the idea that family and friends that I love may be tortured in Hell for eternity simply because they "chose" the wrong religion or happen to love a member of the same sex or any number of frivolous things and that we're supposed to just be fine with that.
Could it be that the Christians that are living it out, are seeming more advanced bc they are more at peace? They’re not wasting their resources on frivolous things and doing stuff that harms them… it’s something we are settled with. A peace that surpasses all understanding?
Like the Rich Young Ruler most won't give up their sin . Faith isn't intelligent faith isn't rational. Faith isn't academic. A measure of faith is given to all by Jesus. Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our Faith. Without faith it's impossible to please God.
@@happygolucky5855 I was pretty shocked, actually, to hear Sean say that. How can he try to convince people they should believe in the Christian faith when he's not certain himself?!
Hey jubilee middle ground just dropped a new one . Your boy Johnny is in and this girl Katia I think it was I have a feeling will impress you . Should we expect a reaction please lol
I love Sean and Most things he has to say and I'm only 2/3 the way done this video but when he says that he's loving towards atheist because he wants to bring people to Christ I think is putting the cart before the horse. I think that we should be loving because it's the right thing to do and it's because what God would want us to do and because it's what jesus would do and it's because we're walking in the way of our master. People potentially coming to Christ because of that is just a positive by product, not the reason why we do it. And though I believe that is probably what Sean believes i wish he would say it.
There was a time that the Church had moral authority to stand against oppression and tyranny. Most today will bow down and obey those in authority, while they conveniently forget that those in authority only "bear the sword" for one narrow purpose. This fundamentally destroys the balance of Romans chapter 13 as it is all about obedience to those in authority without any of the required restraint in use of "the sword". .... "Christians" on a jury today will rubber stamp oppression and tyranny under the umbrella of "obedience to authority" while those in authority openly flaunt their use of "the sword" to do all manner of social engineering, economic manipulation to pick winners and losers, and criminalize innocent behavior in order to generate revenue by selling a licence to commit the crime. We do need God. ... Without God, where will moral authority reside? There is a good reason to separate civil and moral authority into separate bodies. If the state wields "the sword" and can by its own authority determine which acts are evil (guilty), there is no separation of Church and state. If the Church determines which acts are evil (guilty) and wields "the sword", there is no separation of Church and state.
It’s because pastors and congregants are judgemental and forcing their unhealthy political views. I will never leave the faith but if it’s too toxic to go to church, where do I find support? Most of my friends go to New Age because of this, but I won’t do that. So I praise, worship study God’s word at home!😢
I saw the debate you refer to - Andrew Wilson vs. Matt Dillahunty. Before the debate I had never heard the term “rage quit”. But I myself rage quit the video before it was over and vowed never to watch another debate between a Christian and an Atheist. Neither debater represented his position well. Mr. Dillahunty came off thin-skinned and unprepared, while it seemed obvious that Mr. Wilson had calculated an approach to provoke his opponent by using personal details from his life. If I were going to choose my religion based on that debate, I'd be a Zoroastrian today.
Agreed, and it's weird to me that many Christians loved that moment. I guess it related to today's culture of memes and "destroying" each other but I think it's strange that they thought that was productive to the goal in any way.
Confident but not certain? Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said to him, “'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. '
I appreciate you not using "woke" to describe what's going on. It's a co-opted misnomer that really aims to diminish valid critiques of "traditional" culture. Radical leftism, in my opinion, is a much more accurate term. It's hypocrosy, confusion, and do-as-you-willism.
Is this man a born again Christian ? I’m just curious because in minute 46:35 he says he’s confident Christianity is true not certain but confident, how is that possible ? Have you not received the holy spirit of god in your heart ? how can a born again Christian not know it’s true ? I’m a Christian because I have received the holy spirit the moment I repented and asked god for forgiveness and believed Jesus Christ as lord and saviour in that moment I sensed the holy spirit enter and dwell in me and it literally helps me discern between good and evil and so many other things. I just don’t understand how someone that is a Christian doesn’t know certain…
Ruslan . . . Catholics DO believe in salvation by grace through faith. They just don't believe is salvation by grace through faith ALONE. Big difference. We DO believe in salvation by GRACE ALONE. It cannot be earned.
gerald: What a broad generalization. Many leave because they were taught the wrong concept of God, leading to unrealized expectations. Disappointment. Had they been taught correctly, it would not have happened.
Christians do not leave the faith. If they left they demonstrated they were never believers to begin with, and I can not fathom how a "believer" does not have any Godly intervention?????
That's just not true. Not up for debate either. Plenty of real believers have left the faith. Let's retire this ridiculous phrase, "They were never believers to begin with."
This is kinda what causes people to walk away and or not come to full faith. That is judgement. People need refining love, compassion. The Holy Spirit is the only convicter of sin. I’ve struggled so. I’m an “ugly” sinner. Do we when we come to Christ know all things ??? NOT. Not everyone is neurotypical and not everyone grew up in health, wholeness and loving rel’p w proper guidance and teaching. Not trying to water the gospel or eliminate OT holiness from NT grace. It is all working together. We all need to go to Christ the Word and be led and guided and discipled appropriately. Jesus Christ please draw all men to yourself and reveal their need and sin to them 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✝️✝️✝️🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
This comment is giving predestination. It's the false belief that "Once saved always saved"... someone can genuinely believe at one point in time and genuinely disbelieve at a different point in time. You can, with free will, walk away from salvation.
I can see where your coming from as I, a prodigal daughter, can’t fathom how someone can walk away from the relationship I have with Christ now. Prior, I was atheist, prior to that, I was someone who claimed to be christian but my heart held nothing but hatred for God so I clearly wasnt. And now I want nothing more than to serve Jesus, who saved me despite all that. However, the proverb of the seeds growing tall in the rocks but then dying because their roots couldnt run deep exists for a reason. Same goes for the plants that grew in thorns with deep roots but the thorns choked them out. Both were growing well but lacked the fellow disciples/the leaders/etc to have someone help remove the thorns or provide proper soil.
If Jesus is God, then why does the scripture say that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, and that he ascended to the throne at the right hand of God?
Christians aren't leaving the faith. That isn't possible. Those with dead faith are leaving. Those who claimed to be Christians but were never truly sealed with the Spirit. It's the separation of the wheat from the chaff.
Please treat the idea if the pre-birth existence of souls, which is getting You Tube currency. They cite personal experiences as do people who've had an NDE.
The inability to relate modern standards and perceptions to the word of God. Essentially they view it as a rule book but not the interpersonal relationship that it truly is. Its a form of understanding that usually requires a teacher and years of study to develop secularly, remarkably fast in a proper walk with God though.
Thru free will a person can give up Christianity and salvation. Please dont mistake this for " they never believed" you can absolutely and genuinely believe in the gospel message and later decide that its genuine and absolutely not for you. The doctrine of "once saved always saved" is dangerous. But, God is a God of second chances. So, find hope in this truth.
Hey @ruslandkd I need some clarification. I love your content but now I'm confused...you said around 50 minutes. "I don't think women should have the right to vote." Did you mis-speak or is that what you actually believe?
I would love to see the extended version. But my own thought is: does the act please and serve and satisfy your spouse? That would be a foundational question. Also, where did the desire for a particular act come from? If it came from pornography and a husband is wanting to re-enact a scene with his wife, that's just wrong, and demeaning to his wife.
Why do people leave the faith? For the same reasons they always have. the tenets and theology are logically untenable and sometimes morallly indefensible. I mean just read Rev 20 - why's Jesus murdering infants he (it) forces into generation? etc etc.
I think podcasters are violating Scripture james 3:1. Ray comfort talked about this 40 years ago. The Bible talks about this 2000 years ago. If there's no repentance, there's no turning to God and becoming born again. No amount of yaking We'll make this concept more complicated.

god see's what everyone does, and they will be held accountable. but the issue is, what am I going to do with christ, not what everyone else is doing. many people use the excuse that they reject christ because of hypocrites, but that wont save them on judgement day. each person will be held accountable only for what they did. the hypocrite argument is used a lot in order them to avoid dealing with their own sin. secondly, many people don't have a clue what a christian even is. mormons, catholics, moonies and others call themselves christians. lots of confusion.

Well it's a good thing then that Christ didn't come to make us good people.
Jesus Himself says there is no good person, only the Father in the New Testament-so yes you are right

46:36 “I’m pretty confident Christianity is true, I’m not certain but I’m confident”
Would have loved for you to have Sean expand on this.
“Im not certain but im confident christianity is true.”
Im glad its ok to think this because same.
@@happygolucky5855 I was pretty shocked, actually, to hear Sean say that. How can he try to convince people they should believe in the Christian faith when he's not certain himself?!

Matthew 22:37-40
Jesus said to him, “'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

Scripture is trustworthy, but not inerrant. God used fallible men to give us scripture, so He never meant it to be inerrant.
Did I miss it? What was the "BIGGEST Reason Christians Are LEAVING The Faith"?
The inability to relate modern standards and perceptions to the word of God. Essentially they view it as a rule book but not the interpersonal relationship that it truly is. Its a form of understanding that usually requires a teacher and years of study to develop secularly, remarkably fast in a proper walk with God though.
Right it's just them saying what a bunch swell guys they are.

I mean just read Rev 20 - why's Jesus murdering infants he (it) forces into generation? etc etc.
