      It's not like they have him more character to act though. He was accepted on the show for his brutal looks and moves, and that's pretty much all that was of him even in more detailed episodes about sateda.

    All that thrashing makes me wonder why they only restrain his wrists and ankles. A single belt across the chest, or two smaller ones near the shoulders, would help a lot with preventing accidental concussions.
    Then again, it’s kinda hard to get that visceral image of rage and desperation if the person's fully immobile. 🤷‍♂️

    • @brainconqueror8095
      @brainconqueror8095 4 роки тому +2

      @@UGNAvalon Anything that restricts chest movement for long periods, especially in a psychotic (or similar) individual that is struggling like that can be pretty dangerous. That's why the "restraint chairs" used in corrections are so controversial. They can and have caused deaths. A better option would have been to sedate the shit out of him. Medically induced coma until the enzyme levels dropped. Supportive care until then

    Okay I get why his friend had to be put cold turkey because they needed him quickly but why the hell couldn't they actually just give Ronin some sedatives to help him through it easier? I didn't get that part.

    • @jakubsosabowski229
      @jakubsosabowski229 7 років тому +16

      I think that when you have enzyme in your blood sedatives don't work. Ad least that was with Ford in Sidge patr 3. Dr. Beckett put in him enugh sedatives to put him in induced coma but he was still runing around.
      It is how I understunad that pary. Mayby I'm wrong.

    • @Tank50us
      @Tank50us 6 років тому +12

      Also, sedatives can also become addicting, and given that they're dealing with someone who was just addicted to something pretty serious, that's the last thing they wanted to risk. Also, we have no idea how long it took for Ronan to come back, it could've been a few hours, a few days, even a few weeks for all we know. Also, there are multiple SG teams at Atlantis by this point, with Shepherds team a man down, other teams can fill the gaps as needed.

    • @christinemusselman5499
      @christinemusselman5499 4 роки тому

      That's true. It's common practice to give detoxing addicts some sort of sedative to get through the worse parts of it rather than forcing them to go cold turkey. Withdrawal can literally kill you.

    • @Jokie155
      @Jokie155 4 роки тому +1

      The Wraith enzyme itself is 'designed' to keep the victim alive and active throughout the feeding process. The worst of it wouldn't have killed Ronon, but it also wouldn't have left any room for sedation. Really messed up.

    Idk if the writers forgot but when Ronans character was introduced in 2x03 he said the wraith stopped feeding on him and made him a runner instead. Although there r several theories why this is, nothing is concrete. Fans assumed he was immune to wraith feeding until this episode happened. Which brings up some confusion. Was he immune to wraith feeding and the writers forgot or didn't care about that piece of detail? Did the writers just abandon that idea of immunization? Did the wraith stop because he was strong enough to become a runner and improve the wraith hunting skills? Did the wraith not find ronan tasteful when feeding? As I said, many theories and sadly the writers on stargate atlantis still haven't shed any light on this so we are never gonna get an actual concrete answer. So, What's your guys' opinion on this?

    • @AdeptKing
      @AdeptKing 5 років тому +23

      chloe wickert from my understanding they made him a runner because he was stronger than the rest so they wanted to hunt him for sport.

    • @victorselve8349
      @victorselve8349 4 роки тому +7

      Yeah I also think they just did it for the lols, considering how concerned the Wraith we're by the existence of the Hoffen drug survivors I doubt they would take the chance and release somebody that is immune to feeding.

    • @ironicallyedgey9920
      @ironicallyedgey9920 4 роки тому +2

      I personally like to think that he was always the absolute survival machine you see from his introduction to the end of the series and the only time he becomes a "softer" person is when he's with people he considers family, so the wraith saw the determination he had and decided to see how long he'd survive as a runner, either that or he kept breaking out of cocoons and cells so they gave him the freedom he wanted but at a price

    • @peoplez129
      @peoplez129 4 роки тому +1

      The wraith can sense peoples strength by feeding on them, and that's about as far as it goes. They probably sensed his particularly good physical condition and overall systems health/resilience. But I think the writers were trying to setup a more meaningful reason (like how we see the drug that keeps the wraith from feeding on people), but they likely didn't get around to it and didn't bother going any deeper with Ronin. You have to keep in mind that many of these episodes were written almost on the fly, so people were banging around idea's, and some got chosen, some got fleshed out, some got buried, or meshed into other story arcs. So the story arc for Sateda was to be that they were immune to feeding, which is why the wraith destroyed them. But since Sateda was destroyed and they couldn't really build an episode around immunity with just Ronin, they wanted to flesh it out more with the planet of people who discovered the drug, especially since they needed the drug to have dire side effects (like killing most people who take it). It's just a bigger story arc that way.

      When the Wraith began feeding, he could tell Ronon was stronger in mind & body than most humans, & would be a challenge as a runner.
