You know what I love about decker , how he always tells us the names of the actors playing the characters, not to many critics take the time out to find out or mentions them
Fun Fact: The big shipwreck named "Wanderer" is the same name they used for the "SS Venture" in the public domain 1932 novelization of *"KING KONG"* by Delos W. Lovelace. And when Universal wanted to remake Kong between 1975- 1976, under the title: *"The Legend of KING KONG";* using the public domain novelization as a basis, the "Venture" was renamed yet again as the "Panama Queen".
@@Andy_Sidaris I wish it would have shown him going to the Japanese family and talking to them, I can't remember if Marlow still had the katana at the end of the film but if he did he could have given Gunpei's family his sword it would have been sweet
That intro was great, it was fun to imagine all those Heueys and gobsmacked soldiers just hovering off camera as a 104ft tall Decker Shado does his thing.
Honestly with Dinocember you could just review a majority of the King Kong films. Absolutely love this film, especially the skullcrawler sequence in the graveyard
Believe me, my mother and I really loved Kong in both Kong Skull Island, and Godzilla vs Kong, because he is a very unique character. Sure we are used to seeing him get killed and falling off a skyscraper, but the Monsterverse is the one series where he doesn’t get killed off. Good work on the review, can’t wait to see you reacted to Rampage, the 2018 movie with Dwayne Johnson.
Also, anyone else kind of wish we got a movie showing us Hank Marlow's time on Skull Island along with Gunpei, seeing how two people who'd basically been trained for years to hate and kill each other, worked together to survive on the island? Frankly that sounds pretty interesting.
I wish we could have been able to explore the friendship between the two antagonists who fought against each other in World War II but became friends to survive on Skull Island.
Really hope you do a review for the Peter Jackson King Kong from 2005. While it's a bit long, and drags at parts, it's definitely the most creepy of the movies.
The fact Kong only attacked them at the start was because what they were doing was bombing his home and causing a dangerous creature to come out of hibernation
You've been killing it with the writing lately. I hope all is well for you and yours. Hope you enjoy your holidays and thank you for another amazing review. Had a blast watching.
The military, who had just spent a few years wandering around, surviving in, and engaging in combat in jungles, swamps, and mountains, needed a guide, who knows how to wander around jungles , swamps and mountains, to guide them around jungles, swamps and mountains that they have never been to before and that... ..he....has...never...been ...to ...before....either Yeah. That makes sense.
I'm a year late, but I recall that the squad of soldiers were chosen because they were specifically pilots that could get through the storm, not ground troops? While on the ground they are pretty directionally clueless, there's a lot of Tom Hiddleston pointing the way in this movie
@@satellitebreakfast The pilots were pilots. The rest would be soldiers. They took air cavalry that had experience operating in the jungles of Viet Nam. But that was too hard for the writer to remember.
@@TheToonMonkey I highly agree. My biggest problem with the Peter Jackson version is that it's essentially the 1933 film but unnecessarily doubled in length. I don't know how Jackson took the 100 minutes original and added another 90 minutes to it and felt it was a Justified length for a film with essentially the same story as the original. It just felt like it dragged on when it should have just been 2 hours and 15 minutes at the absolute most. I'm not saying that you can't have a 3 hour movie hell I love Return To The King, another Peter Jackson movie, and that's three and a half but a film must justify its length if it's going to be that long.
Im glad to see Decker Shado finally do a proper King Kong standalone movie! You should see the classic 1930s version! You got to do the goofy Kong smile as a intro!
We just got taken down by a monkey the size of a building. My favorite scene of the movie is when King Kong goes Berserker rage on that helicopter fleet. And that was my dad's unit his second tour in Vietnam the 1st Aviation Brigade.
A bit of correction, the Big One Skullcrawler wasn't the "queen" or any type of monarch sort of figure head. Just a massive Skullcrawler and he was also technically the only adult Skullcrawler.

Very good Kaiju movie review. It was about time a film maker made a King Kong movie that was completely different than the original 1933 movie, because two others already have. I think it's understated how important this movie was for the Monsterverse franchise. Godzilla 2014 was a snoozefest by comparison where this movie was the first time that we saw potential in the franchise for enjoyable shared-universe kaiju films.

A GIANT APE FIGHTING HELICOPTERS. That is what we wanted, that is what we got. Yes, there was so much to criticize, like the 'anti-war reporter', but all and all an enjoyable romp!
Shame that the Monarch series declares this movie non canon (Titans are known since the 50s and are well documented and Monarch has unlimited resources, Hank would be contained and locked up because Monarch puts people who know to much away) and changes Godzilla 2014 (Bridge Scene, Bombing), what makes no sense because the series builds heavily on Skull Island which shouldn’t exist in the first place because of the contraindications of the series. It gives headaches to think about it.
