- For 25 years there was great mystery surrounding the sudden appearance of a Statue of Liberty replica in the middle of the Susquehanna River in central Pennsylvania. Steve Hartman goes "On The Road" to find out more.
What a great tribute to Lady Liberty and PA! And a 'Congrats To CBS' for this short but sweet video! It's so nice to know the story!
I too, remember seeing this statue for the first time and falling in love with it and what it stands for, as well as wondering who did it!
And a "BIG THANK YOU" to the original creator of the first statue, as well as, our fellow Pennsylvanians for the new improved replica! :)
i used to drive by this constantly knowing nothing about it, awesome video =D
Our state is so weird, but I love it.
There was in fact a WTC replica of the Twin Towers on a pillar to the left of Lady Liberty in Dauphin but it seems to be gone. I was there tonight walking in the river right near Stoney Creek and did not see WTC replica anymore.
I've past it on the road a few times and plan to do a kayaking trip later this year starting at the statue, going down through Harrisburg! If all goes well, we plan to finish at Three Mile Island, making several stops along the way and avoiding the dams and stuff.
My best friends dad from Camp Hill. Helped put that up. My friend would tell me how they used kayaks and carried it out in peices in the middle of the night. Cool story.
Saw it for the first time last night. Was on the Highway and realized what I was looking at. Saw it again on my way back to see, such a cool sight
I visiting my home town in Harrisburg, around 93/94 , when I first seen it , I was driving to Halifax and millersburg to visit other family members when I first seen it . it was wow , where did that come from ? Because I sure didn't remember it from my childhood .
I have driven by this so many times LOL! I must say thought, I did not realize that its 25 feet tall ! And had to be put in place by a huge helicopter ! It look smaller from the road LOL!
Agreed! I just passed it the other day, on my way into Steelton, and saw it for the first time. I thought it looked to be 8-10 feet tall 🤣🤣🤣
True. I've past it on the road a few times and plan to do a kayaking trip later this year starting at the statue, going down through Harrisburg! If all goes well, we plan to finish at Three Mile Island, making several stops along the way and avoiding the dams and stuff.
I remember driving through there back in the year 2000 to go visit my mother from New York City.
Im a trucker ..Just passed by it today and was like what in the world and came straight to UA-cam
Carved from a giant bar of soap lol
i still wanna know how the heck they got the first replica in the middle of the river and erected…
dope
Dauphin Borough is not a town. It's a borough.
It's cool that they gathered money to replace it with a more permanent one.
Does she turn her back on New Jersey like the original?
There's literally no mystery about it.
