Hi, yes I changed my name from CryMor. I understand if you hate it, or it's confusing, or whatever it makes you feel. I wanted to take this brand new video as a chance to explain to you why I changed it. Why "CryMor?" So it started with me and CryptoSpook, CRYptospook and MORiarty, doing CSGO content in a genre called Overwatch. Over the years, Crypto left, and some other people came and left. My content changed from CSGO to first impressions, from first impressions to longer reviews, from reviews to opinion commentary. Throughout all of this, I was "Moriarty from CryMor." Earlier in 2020, it became just me here on the channel, which is also around the time I started to actually grow. A lot of people don't even remember that other creators were here on the channel, but CryMor was never.. _just me._ I really wanted to change my brand because so far it's always been the brand I'm part of, certainly a brand I felt ownership for, but never *MY* brand as in the brand that is *ME.* This new one is. MRIXRT is _me._
I can respect that man, sometimes it is best to rebrand yourself as something you feel represents you as you. But I will say it threw me off when I saw that change.
That gives a lot of context to the name/brand change. I’m with it. May I ask what the new name stands for or decrypts into? Also, good video; user reviews and my friends scratched screens stopped me from getting a switch. Seems like an Almost awesome product, that hit a plateau Immediately.

Just wanted to add a couple points to the online shop part of the video. 1. There’s no user reviews on the games. 2. There’s no refunds So unless you check other sources, you’re basically buying games blind, and you better hope you like it, cuz once you bought it there’s no going back.

I just added my reviews to all my games on the 3DS last night. I think it's pretty hilarious that I can do that despite the eShop not allowing purchases.
@@Goldfire345They always were crap. I remember the N64 also dealt with drift. Blown capacitors and corroded/cracked contacts were also common. The Wii in addition to destroying TVs experienced Bluetooth issues and overheating. The memory and power supply were finicky for some. Wii U also had memory and boot issues that led to a bricked console. How common that was is unknown given the console was unpopular. The GameBoy Advance/SP screens would randomly crack in your pocket or backpack. The internal battery would fail or fuse would blow preventing charging. For the DS, I remember the touch screen would become unresponsive and backlight might fail. And the GameCube, oh boy, that disc drive was a PoS. I remember having to do black magic trickery to get my games to read. I found it funny how RRoD was always brought up in the console war back then but the Wii's issues outside of broken TVs were ignored. I can't tell who has worse customer service. Sony or Nintendo. I need not mention Microsoft because Don Mattrick killed Xbox just fine on his own in 2013.
I finally decided to cave and bought a Switch earlier this week, my first Nintendo thing in yonks. While I'm totally loving BotW I'm taken aback by just how terrible the machine itself is. The WiFi barely stays connected, the Joycons are pure rubbish and I can't understand why so many old games are being sold at new game prices.
Seeing people get switches after years without a Nintendo system has made me realize how different the things people will put up with are. I don't play much online, I don't use wifi on my consoles often, and for whatever reason my joycons have been fine for 4 years now. Meanwhile I'm seeing people pay 60 dollars for remasters a year and a half after the original and they don't have an issue with it on consoles aside from Nintendo's, with borderline, if not entirely required online services that cost 3 times as much. And the consoles themselves are just bad PC's that cost more than they're worth, at least Nintendo attempts to do something unique. They also steer clear of microtransactions on console almost entirely. All of these companies suck and have sucked for decades, they're just terrible in their own special ways.
As someone who started off playing games on snes and the og gameboy it baffles me that people are still willing to buy anything from Nintendo. They barely ever improve anything, when they do they manage to remain 7+ years behind current technology and they rely on their small ammount of interesting ip to the point of beating a dead horse. I really wish sony would drop another handheld just to fuck Nintendos revenue streams.
What's crazy is how hostile nintendo fans will get anytime you criticise any nintendo IP or product. Didn't like BOTW, don't like the switch, didn't like SWSH? These are opinions that make people more upset than political discussion. It's nuts. Great video man.
BoTW was awful and overrated - minimal mob types, breaking weapons, temples that you either immediately get your reward, you fight only 3 different bosses or you do a simple puzzle. You essentially get your stamina up so you can climb around in an environment completely void of personality. Absolute garbage game.

Incomplete Mario sports games, over priced premium level for online (which still sucks to play their games on) , not creating enough controllers to sell to their customers that want them (N64 wireless), it goes on and on. Animal Crossing isn't fun anymore and it's lost its core. Now it's a game built entirely for people trying to customize vs. experience their little village. It is no longer about how big moving out from home and the people you meet. It's now just a cutesy customization simulator. This is so obvious in the stale dialogue and personalities from the animals and the fact that they replaced an entire cool feature with a hollow one but kept the skin: message in a bottle. Finding a bottle every week or so was awesome, thousands of randomly generated messages to read but now it's just a dumb DIY recipe.
Katsuya Eguchi's biggest mistake is when it lends his series to someone because she is female, not because of the philosophy. AC isn't mean to be cute, it's about the harsh reality the game give you.
I got switch lite for Animal crossing ( I am new to the series). I decided to sell my PS4. Big mistake- I thought games would run at least pretty close to the games in PS4, but even just minecraft worked like crap on Switch. I played animal crossing, had months of break and forced myself to play again, because it was so expensive! Cannot help but it is so boring and repeptitive. It is cute though, but is it really worth how much they charge for it even now after over a year from release. It is fun for some time but it started feeling like a chore after my island filled up and also the island started to lag. I decided to sell my switch as now i mainly play Minecraft and it works much better on my regular laptop 😅
The switch was the first console I've owned since xbox 360. I've been a PC gamer for over a decade and I thought the concept of a handheld system that can play AAA quality games was pretty awesome. I've put countless hours into the switch and I'll admit I've had fun with the thing but Its flaws are numerous and if this is how nintendo treats its consumers I will never buy another one of their products. As soon as I got my steam deck the switch became obsolete.
Nintendo's been acting like this since the 3DS days in America. Now, however? It seems to have gone worldwide, and Nintendo acts like Switch owners are children, despite the player-base not being as such. It's like how Microsoft treats Xbox gamers like thieves and bans them at random.

Totally agree with you on all points.. we as Nintendo fans get disregarded when it’s all said and done even though we keep supporting the bs.. what gets me frustrated is they profit off of dated games that get re-released as if they’re new with no new content.

The problem with Nintendo is that there's no Iwata and Regigie anymore. Also they're caught up in a "no risk" mentality which means that because of the failure of the Wii U they have lost third party support and they want to save and keep as much money as possible to later apply it into something else. That's why they have the switch in the state that it is, they don't want to risk it and refuse to accept outside inspiration, they're droppining the ball hard.

I'm getting to the point where I'm tired of how nintendo has been. I've been upset with the online service for a while now. Also the price for playing ocarina of time on my switch, realizing I can play a better version of it for free on PC. Nintendo is just slacking big time.
I get why people feel that way, but I honestly prefer that they don't compete directly with sony and microsoft in terms of raw power. The 16-bit console wars were stupid, and videogames aren't cheap. I can't afford to be buying a new $500+ console every few years. I used to love Sony, but none of their old exclusives that I liked are the same entities they once were, if they still existed at all. I felt similarly about Nintendo too for a long time, even longer than with Sony because Sony joined the game later. But Nintendo seems to have corrected this problem. While they still put out the kinda games that don't seem familiar, they also started putting out the ones that do again. With the Nintendo being cheaper, it's actually an option to consider, whereas Sony and Microsoft aren't, even if they did have games I really wanted to play(the only one I really missed out on was Ghost of Tsushima, but that's coming to PC now anyway). I do wish it either had better power, or they optimized some games better to run with the power it does have, and some games could just look better, sure, but honestly graphics have never been a concern of mine. I'm much more interested in fun gameplay, and I feel like a lot of the newer games with ultra realistic graphics end up focusing so much on making the graphics look that way that they legitimately don't have time to flesh out other parts of the game. Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom look like cartoons, but the way the games play, all the options you have, all the physics interactions being so logical and intuitive... that whole experience more than makes up for the lack of photorealistic graphics. Nintendo could probably achieve both, but how long would we be waiting between releases, and how much more money would we have to pay to get it?
I really hate how people say "you can just repair your 80 dollar controllers for free!" Sure but whats stopping the controller from drifting again? They arent adressing the main problem.
I've never had a switch controller drift on me, but you're not wrong. And it's a pain in the ass to send it out in the first place, and what if it gets lost/stolen/destroyed in the mail?
Nintendo is a very old and proud Japanese company, and that directly leads to, what I can best describe, its *legendary hubris* whenever it's very successful in a console generation. ...I really wished their humble pie lessons stayed more permanent, though. Why my Nintendo Switch Lite sucks: *I've worked for it as a student even when in pandemic just to buy one. *My first console/handheld and then immedietly drifts its joystick before 1 week of use *I've wasted 250 dollars. (They added a 50 dollar price during the quarantine) *Can't even have it fixed as there's no Nintendo branch in my country.

I adored my switch at launch, every single game I picked up was incredible and I was pretty blind to the console's flaws, but by year 2 i barely played it outside of a handful of small games. Waited until last year to mod it, and although that meant no online on the modded sd card partition, it made me use and appreciate the console significantly more. new life was breathed into an underpowered soulless system through custom themes, piracy, homebrew, etc. if anyone else is dissatisfied with their console and dont mind the risk, take it. its totally worth it! however it should not take the work of fans to make an active console enjoyable. as someone who grew up in the wii u era the switch has been the most insane monkey's paw of "i want this company to be succsessful again." i love my modded switch, but when mobile phones outpace your console in power, customization, and user satisfaction shortly after launch, you've done something wrong.
I was one of the many who grew up playing Nintendo, but I’ve grown tired of their policies and inability to keep up with the competition in terms of power and overall care for the consumer. It just seems like they’re arrogant, and I hate to say it, but I’d like to see them face some challenges in order to push them to change their ways. Until that happens, I’m sticking with Xbox and PlayStation. If I ever want to play old Nintendo games, emulation exists.
I finally got to play around and use the switch a bit at my friend's house a couple of months ago and got to experience how mushy and small the joy cons were, not only that, I was seriously astonished to see how cheap and cramped the whole thing felt, I can't imagine someone spending more than a couple of hours playing BOTW, or any game really, undocked without a real controller, much less over one hundred.
Bro it's not cheap it really isn't the only flaw to me is that if you got a bundle like an OLED splatoon 3 version it doesn't come with the game and that 360 bucks right there....
I have a switch lite and had put in thousands of hours before I had moved to my Xbox series S. Now when I try to play on my switch again my hands start to cramp and hurt 😭‼️
@@Griffith-04 just because you pay a lot for something doesn't mean the actual build quality of the machine isn't cheap. i say this as someone who's had both the lite & v2 and has used the oled, they're fragile-feeling systems. i only ever play docked with pro controller or handheld bc joycons feel terrible when they're detached lol

Bought the Switch at launch and I absolutely despise it. Have less than 300hrs on the system and two pairs of joycon have had drifting issues. 2021 and I still carry my Vita in my bag over the Switch.
I'm not joking when I say I prefer the Wii U. I just think the Switch is mediocre. If anything, it inspired others to make better handheld consoles. The fact that people are still paying $349.99 for a console that's 6 or 7 years old blows me away. And the fact that instead of including a proper gamepad in the box for your $299/$349, they sell it separately for $69.99.
The switch has become completely dependant on 3rd party support to prop up the platform, yet those same 3rd party games are the worst versions of those same games, the switch is great for their exclusives but why buy an inferior version of a game I can play in 4K@60fps on my ps5, the portability factor just isn't worth the sacrifices, especially when it comes to resolution and performance
I decided to stop supporting them due to their recent behaviour, they have become too corporate and exploitative, I don't have patience for their bullshit, will I miss out on their games? sure. Do I absolutely need to play them? nah.
I felt the same buddy. But I’m just buying my switch collection on eBay. I bought my switch and games and accessories all on eBay for a great price. Because Nintendo products are definitely not worth paying full retail haha. I bought a switch complete boxed with extra controllers and pro controller for $230. I’ve bought many games for $30 as well. You have to know how to search eBay for the deals.
I really like some franchises, but Nintendo half assed the switch releases like they half ass everything they do. Their only hope is their IP’s which they ruthlessly protect via copy write yet they clearly don’t give the developers the time or resources to create a polished product. Most of the major first party games they release don’t even run well because Nintendo decided to build as cheap as possible using a generation old mobile console chip. Developers are clearly getting screwed by this and Nintendos refusal to invest in better technology so they developers have more space than those pathetic little cards they have to shove their games into fitting. Keep in mind Nintendo could have freed up more space and crated a better functioning console by giving their console an SSD drive and trying a download only version of games so developers have more space to work with. But that would cost money for RND and Nintendo would much rather invest in a stupid gimmick that just holds their games back rather than actually invest in any form of more powerful technology. What a joke their hardware has become, and its a roadblock their IP’s are going to run into until Nintendo eventually falls into the dust

I’m by no means a nintendo fan boy, but to be fair to Nintendo, they are the only ones still making handhelds. Sony dropped out of it despite how nice the vita was (lack of support by Sony killed it) and Microsoft was never in the market. It’s nice being able to play on the go, or to just play for a bit in bed or so. Naturally, the miniaturization of the hardware and the uniqueness of the interface won’t be anywhere near as powerful as a dedicated console. This console has touchscreen, motion controls, and the IR sensor, all built in right out of the box. I (and my son) have been enjoying ours. We also have a ps5 and xbox one, and those do not have these features nor the portability. The same was true of their previous portables (GB, GBA, DS, 3DS), they didn’t hold a candle to the graphical prowess of their console counterparts, or even their competitors (game gear, psp, vita). But their games and unique features (especially the ds and 3ds) were phenomenally fun. That said, i agree with you on the eshop practices. It’s atrocious that the entire shop can be taken down. But this also true for Sony. Losing access to the psp, ds/3ds eshop is horrible. Even Sony reversed it’s decision for the vita eshop (thank goodness). The biggest issue I have with both Sony and Nintendo is the lack of backwards compatibility. We see much better support in this regard from Microsoft, with the latest Xbox series X being compatibility with games going back all the way to the beginning, the original xbox. Edit: one issue you didn’t bring up is owning multiple switches. It’s not easy to share digital games you own across your own systems.
Another point is that Nintendo has always been behind in terms of console power levels since the SNES days. They’ve never caught up since. SNES (1990), Sega CD (1992), PS1 (1994), N64 (1996), and so on. Nintendo’s hardware has been out classes for decades. Their saving grace? Their game library is enormous. And most of them are exclusive to Nintendo.
I miss Iwata. I feel like he had NIntendo on the right path. This new guy feels like the start of all the problems, putting business first to bad effect. And my first game was either Mario or Zelda. I remember playing it at my uncle’s cabin when I was just a wee babe. We even had a copy of Metal Gear way back. I thought it was the Incredible Hulk.
When I was a kid I was so eager to be advertised to by Nintendo, I was a huge Nintendo fanboy, but luckily I was an even bigger fanboy for kojima, so when Death Stranding came out I got a PS4 and learned more about the gaming industry as a whole. I can't stand advertising and propaganda, and the stronger that gets, the less I wanna play Nintendo... I feel like Nintendo stays as strong as it is by having such a strong hold on the family friendly market that it's parents and kids first choice when deciding videogames, the same way Disney stays in business
@Palantiri Sometimes they do drop in price. If people didn't have money then they wouldn't be the best selling Switch games, so more then a few people have the money to buy them, but all of them? eh...Maybe. I dunno if I would say half...but I wasn't even counting those for the most part.
reeeeEEEEEE But for real, you listed out many of the frustrations I have with my own switch. I do like being able to play while comfy in bed though, but it's hard for that to outweigh my limited library due to game cost, and frustration with my unending drift.

Now not only are the Wii and DSi shops gone, they also shut down the servers that allowed you to redownload purchases. It's inevitability going to happen with Wii U and 3DS next. There's no excuse for it when I can go on my Xbox series s and buy and download original Xbox and 360 games with no issues.
As a big Nintendo fan, I firmly agree with all your points. Sorry if I’m late, UA-cam just recommended me this video today. The biggest problem with my Nintendo Switch isn’t the Joy-Con drift, it’s the freaking WiFi chip. I have had so many battles trying to get my hotspot to connect to it. Even my 3DS XL and HP laptop connect to it just fine (I don’t have ethernet or a WiFi router.). My Switch only connects to the Internet whenever it feels like it. Still, I love my Nintendo Switch to bits, and it even slightly helped me bond more with a close friend I hope to officially date one day. A shame I can’t play with her online because she can’t afford to get pass the paywall, thanks Nintendo. 🥴

I feel like game consoles as a whole really have no reason to exist. I don't say that as a PC master racer (I actually prefer playing on consoles), but before it was a matter of each console being different and being able to do different things. If they're all capable of pretty much the same thing then there's really no point. The Switch could be different, but more often it seems to just play it safe and be what the other two are being, just worse. Whenever it introduces something it can use to be different, it doesn't seem to dwell on it very long (amiibo, labo, etc)
Damn, when you stop to think about it, you're right, I sorta dislike playing on PC and mainly play on consoles, but, since the last couple years of the past generation, things have been boring.

You used to be able to say "this feels like a Gamecube game, this feels like a PS1 game" etc. Now they just feel like games. The individuality of consoles is gone.
The Nintendo Switch is just not competitive. The other consoles are gaming on 4K and HDR. Nintendo builds cheap devices relying on a gimmick to sell them. The Wii had motion controls but it was still Standard Definition. The latest gimmick is a hybrid console. Nintendo's customer base are small children. They used to be competitive up to the Gamecube. They lost me as a customer for life ever since they launched the Wii.
Nintendo stated before that they aren't trying to compete with Sony or Microsoft. They're always doing their own thing. And if your reasoning for the Switch not being competitive is because they don't have 4K then that just means Nintendo isn't for you. Stick to PC or something if you don't like it. You don't need the highest current gen specks to have fun. Also you say "gimmick" as though it's a bad or silly thing which it's not. Sure some gimmicks were not the best but the Switch being a hybrid console is the best "gimmick" they've had yet. Can you take an Xbox/PS/PC with you on the plane or a road trip? No. That's why people buy Switches. Lastly, I hear people say this a lot but Nintendo's customer base is not small children. I get that some people get that idea with Nintendo's past marketing and business model but that certainly isn't true in the Switch era. The marketing targets young adults most of the time and they've been bringing over a lot of 3rd and 2nd party games with higher rating. This part isn't even an argument it's just a fact so I'm not gonna go any further on this. Anyways I've said all this but don't think I'm white knighting for Nintendo or anything. I enjoy their games but I still agree they have shitty business practices and the Switch certainly isn't a perfect console. Good day.

What he is saying is that you don’t need the best graphics to have fun. Why I personally like the switch is because the exclusive games and I have a pc and used to have a ps4 but sold it because with had a switch.
You forgot to mention how the switch lites faulty videos chips that Nintendo will not replace for free. I grew up on Nintendo but I'm honestly over it now. Went through now 4 switch and switch lites due to faulty hardware.
This will be the last generation that I support them. Nearly 5 years in and we still don't have a dedicated Nintendo Online ecosystem cause I refuse to ever "buy back" hundreds of dollars worth of games on a newer platform. Most of the library is still made up of Wii U ports and very few Switch based games. Their business practices are as blatant as ever. Them pretending that Joycon Drift was made up by Sony or Microsoft. Switch Online is a huge ripoff that is worth $0. We don't even get good servers that cost money and we don't get N64, GameCube, or Wii games as part of the program ? Like Nes and Snes games are super easy to emulate and you could always buy a Bluetooth controller to use. I see Nintendo pulling another Switch move where we get games on Next Nintendo that should have been on Switch.
My Xbox 360 Controller has drift with one of the controller stick. All controllers eventually have the controller stick messing up over a long enough time.
Same. Completely done with Nintendo. The only way to protect your purchases is to hack the hardware. That’s such a ridiculous position to leave consumers in, they don’t deserve our money. Additionally, if you’ve followed their public comments and some of the possible leaks - they have no clue what to do next. I feel like they’re in for a real wake-up call.

Interesting video, I barely play my switch, so I can't say I've experienced any of the common hardware problems, but it is strange to me that so many exist only to either be ignored or begrudgingly fixed due to lawsuits. What was the game of that indie dev that got ghosted? I don't know if it would make much of a difference in sales to them, but if their game is good, I'd be interested in picking up their game.
I reached out, but considering the information and their relationship with Nintendo, the developer would rather not say. The game is coming to Steam shortly, hopefully the sales will be out of this world.
This aged like GOLD! just have to look at Shin Megami Tensei VV. It's absolutely GORGEOUS on PS5 and it runs at a stable fps while the same version of the game has the same crappy resolution and fps problems on the Switch.

A part from second hand units on eBay the prices have seemingly never budged, and the games, the games are shockingly expensive. Its all a shame really as, as you say, theres loads of barriers into the Switch. I could afford it sure, and I am luck to be able too, but not everyone will. However I'm hanging fire as the things I've witnessed from my research, price point, games, hardware and software problems don't seem worth the hassle.
I remember this underrated Nintendo Entertainment System game called “Startropics”. Startropics is a very fun and very great action adventure game released in 1990. It was never released in Japan. The main character is “Mike Jones”, a baseball player who travels to the southern cross to find his missing uncle. The game is similar to Zelda and Mike is similar to Ness. It would be great for Mike Jones to be in smash bros. Just spreading word about the series because it’s underrated but a very good game. 👍
That point of a Nintendo title/franchise being many peoples first intro to gaming is so true. My first ever game was Pokemon Emerald on the GBA. And as much as I Love the Switch for being my reintroduction to Nintendo and introduction to all these other Nintendo titles and franchises I have never played before (as I moved on to Playstation and PC gaming after the GBA), Nintendo’s decisions, practices, and choices all really suck, and that is really a shame.
Yeah, I agree with pretty much everything you've said. Right now the Switch is occupying basically the same niche that the Switch did - the Nintendo console that I play one or two games on per year.
literally this. The only reason i own one is for first party exclusives. As a console its behind even the ps4 and the xbox one. Its game selection is just ports of games that came out 8 to 10 years ago. And switch fans act like a port of diablo 3 or having it be an indie console is good. My switch has been sitting there collecting dust ever since i got mine.

The game prices have always been the down point for me. I own a switch but its collecting dust. Cuz even games that are 5 years old at this point are basically still full price. I cant afford to play games on the machine i own, rendering the machine useless.
First game I've ever played is probably Mario Kart Wii. I was maybe 3 at the time, I remember loving the Mushroom track the most. Spyro is a close second on the PS2, then Pokemon Diamond. Me and my cousin obsessed over a PS2 game called Ape Escape 3, we played it so much that it broke and cried over it lol

I think most gamers are already very well aware that the fossilized dinosaur that is Nintendo is a very infamous company that frequently makes enemies of its customers. I've had my joycons replaced by Nintendo, wait for it TWICE!!! Warning they don't "fix" the joycons, they simply replace the boards in them with the same flawed board. Also they didn't bother to advertise the fact they fix them, I had to find out from friends, no Direct on it nothing.

I get why people hate EA, but as someone who doesn't have a lot of money to spend on games it's really awesome to be able to actually play new games through Origin Access. It feels so bizarre to me to be able to pay like $12 or something and get to play EAs newest games for a month and then look over at Nintendo where to have to pay to get.. What? Contra 1 for a month?

I remember having joycon drift on my controllers me and my grandparents tried so hard to fix it but we couldn't and my uncle just resolved in getting a new controller I mean we looked up so many different ways to get it out of drift but we couldn't fix it and I was really sad because those were my first two controllers
The problem with the Switch's hardware isn't the ''lateral thinking with withered technology'' philosophy. The Game Boy was released more than THIRTY years ago, was the LEAST powerful of it's generation's portables, and survived A FUCKING GULF WAR BOMBING. It also was cheaper and had better battery life than the competition (this contradicts your ''older, cheaper and _less effective_ '' statement at 9:49). This was not in spite of, but BECAUSE of Gunpei Yokoi's paradigms. The Wii and Wii U also had decent internet connection and resistent hardware. This isn't the _creative_ Nintendo that limited itself to get the most out of old tech. This is the corporate, cold, bussiness side of Nintendo that we didn't see as children, and Doug Bowser has now made more apparent than ever.
Nintendo should stop trying to reinvent the wheel with every console generation and instead just focus on making good consoles without gimmicks, but with POWER enough to run games at the same level of PS and Xbox. The Switch was a decent idea, but it sucks that it is 1080 in docked mode and just a shitty 720p in handheld. It should've been 1440p in docked and a 1080p screen on the console instead. Games such as Breath of the Wild suffered quite a bit thanks to the relatively low specs. Lots of pop in's and stuff like that that took away quite alot of immersion for me. Nintendo wanted the world of breath of the Wild to feel Alive, but have no console strong enough to keep animals on screen for more than a few seconds before they simply vanish to save on the system memory. Enough shitty gimmicks consoles, Nintendo. Please!
I hate to break it to you but 1440p of power wasn't really feasible when the Switch launched, at least not at the price they launched it at. I'm not defending Nintendo. I'm just pointing out people tend to vastly overestimate the power needed for higher resolutions, like 1440p and 4k. Even PCs struggle to play current gen games at higher resolutions with a reasonable frame rate. 1440p has only recently started becoming a common sweet spot for games.

I've never had a non nintendo console, and I stay very disconnected from playstation and xbox game series/franchises. I only know a few ones very well. This is because of my history and basically how 1 simple decision from my older cousin(leaving his n64 at where I lived at the time, at which I was around 7-8 years old) created a chain reaction that led to what I have today. Fortunately I have never experienced any hardware issues aside the joycon drift, but I am baffled by how many exist. There's no "Nintendo BR" for brazil, where I am from, forcing us to get unnoficial fixes. I did not play on my switch for 8 months because we couldn't find a good place to get it fixed. There are some issues you pointed out that I never even knew existed. Nintendo from what I can see is the company that does incredible and amazing things while at the same time doing the worst possible things. I really do not like how nintendo treats fangames and abuses copyright.

Luigi's mansion on GameCube was my favorite game of all time, so I was very excited for the sequels. I can't speak for number 2, because I've yet to play it, but was bitterly disappointed in the 3rd installment. The color scheme didn't say "spooky" to me, it just felt like any other modern Mario game. The mechanics were okay, but not as exciting as the original. And the levels felt repetitive and tedious, like EGAD stop telling me to hurry up go up the elevator, this isn't even fun anymore!! It took away what I loved most about the original game which was free-exploration in a non-linear map and a genuinely mysterious and "scary" vibe.. very disappointed. Apart from this, I've gotten bored with most other switch games and will probably sell mine and "switch" (lol) to xbox or PC gaming
I still don’t understand who are all these ppl that buy Nintendo Switch I sometimes forget that it’s even a console I know not one person who owns one yet know many who own Xbox or PlayStation. Nintendo fans defend every bad decision that Nintendo makes and they parrot each others arguments. They give Nintendo no incentive to improve on any front whatsoever. Have fun playing sub HD and sub 30 fps in 2025 and paying 60 dollars for old re-releases that run and look worse than base model PS4 games with less and worse online features than Xbox live had in 2004.

Old games being resold at Higher prices than their original selling price thinking they'll get more money because of Nostalgia and the saddest part is they did. They don't want people to Pirate their games yet this is the reason I say "You can Pirate Games that were made for consoles that are discontinued" because the pricing is so stupidly high that I physically can't blame anyone for wanting to. I went to Gamestop because I wanted to get my friend Hollow Knight for Christmas. For ps4 it's around 20-25 US Dollars. Understandable it's an indie game, and despite the fact the game is so good I would pay more, For a USED COPY for the Switch it was 50 usd. Gamecube was Nintendos last no gimmick console whats that like 20 years ago? Did not enjoy the switch decent library took 3 years and by then I was already gone, best thing it did was collect dust. For me, the portability just isn't worth the sacrifices of dated hardware and technology, I mean the PS4 came out 4 years before the switch yet the switch is still inferior
I hear about these problems all the time. It’s never happened to me like Joy con drift or streaks on screen, etc. but yeah the cloud-based stuff is dumb. I have no trouble with Wi-Fi. And I have the first ever release. This which is always been a secondary console to me. I don’t tend to use it portably unless I have to, I just use the pro controller but it’s the system where I get strictly Nintendo games or games like South Park. When Guardians of the Galaxy came out, I got it for PS4 because you get the free PS5 upgrade which worked perfectly when I got mine. So I have no complaints with the switch. I actually love it. But I do see the issues.
You have said everything I was thinking here. The Switch has so many flaws, but I think I've only just gotten slight drift after six years and have never had wifi issues. I do agree with most of his points. I don't think Nintendo has been for hardcore gamers since the early 2000s. The Switch reminds me of the 3ds. It's behind on the times and the games are casual. It's become primary for me since my dad is usually on my ps4 and my PC died, and I still have very little issues. Then again, I've never really cared about graphics or hardware or... anything? if a game is fun, I'm down for it. My main issue is that the shop sucks. And as long as Nintendo is selling Legend of Zelda, I'm buying from Nintendo. Flaws and all. Maybe when I have more money I'll get a steam deck and emulate, but not right now.... Also I'd have to learn how to emulate and I am a moron when it comes to tech. For now, the switch has crash, spyro, and LoZ. I'm more than happy (i miss Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy so much I want my PS4 back).
Nintendo's obsession with using old hardware has always been vexing. On one hand I like the idea that a good game doesn't need to be propped up with the latest and greatest flashy graphics. On the other it limits what an already good game could have been because it was developed to run on an nVidia Tegra chip from 10 years ago. Nintendo's pricing, dogshit marketplace, and strange interpretation online gaming are quite annoying deficits. Why should I buy my old Virtual Console titles again when they're the same old games that they always were? Oddly, the VC games I would buy are the old Pokemon games given how trash modern Pokemon is but I know that GameFreak/Nintendo would rather release a remake of an older title and sell it for full price . To answer the question at the end of your video, I think it was Yoshi's Story on the N64. I disntinctly remember being scared of all the world 6 levels.

I've suffered from I kid you not every hardware issue on here. Dead pixels, warping, connective issues, unresponsive bumpers, stick drift ect. This combined with the lack of real sales and paid online has turned me off the system completely, only using it once in a blue moon. One of the most defective systems I've used.
The wifi and hardware are my most frustrating aspects of it, I'm more than willing to buy 20$ for online just as long as it's good and fun but in this case it's neither. (As for hardware, the dock scratched up my switch quite badly.)
First video game every played? Super Mario 64 on my big bro's 64. I just remember doing the penguin race over and over again. After that it was New Super Mario Bros on the DS. As it was the only DS game I had, I played it to death. Then New Super Mario Bros on the Wii with my 2 sisters. I was always Blue Toad. Teamwork made the Dream work and I vividly remember us beating the game and savin Peach. Then it was my friend's old broken 3DS he gave me for my birthday. The camera was busted and you had to hold it a certain way to charge, but I loved that thing. Picked up Smash and Dragonball Fusions. Now I have a Switch and New 2DS. I beat my first Zelda game: Link's Awakening! And I'm now playing through The Minish Cap.
I'm going to challenge your point on whether or not Nintendo is "holding back game developers" with its low-end graphics. It's true that more powerful hardware can change design decisions. That being said, all 3rd-Party devs have to decide what to put resources into, and sometimes you make a cut based on business or artistic vision. If I make a game for PC, I need to either make graphical settings that allow low-end PCs to run it, or decide I'm okay not getting money from low-end PC users. Would those low-spec PCs be "holding back the game industry?" Furthermore, many 3rd-Party devs simply skip the Switch, and it's fine. The Switch didn't stop Monster Hunter World from releasing in 2018, and that game was still a massive success despite not being on Switch. Instead, Capcom made a separate game, Monster Hunter Rise, for the Switch. The way I see it, Nintendo isn't holding back the games industry as much as it's trying to create its own, more isolated market through its unique hardware features, 1st-Party Exclusives, and low-spec processing. Now whether or not THAT is a good idea is a much more interesting debate. I agree with many of your other points. The hardware feels cheap and Nintendo has made several anti-consumer decisions this generation. But the games industry is far too big for one company (Nintendo) to hold the rest of it back.
I think the difference between a low-end PC and a Switch (with regards to 'holding back') is that the Switch is *such a large playerbase* that you can't ignore it--and it grows every day, whereas "very low end PC" is a playerbase that is constantly shrinking everyday.
The cheap joycons are what is killing the switch. Imagine in 10 years when you want to play breath of the wild, good luck finding working joycons. If you want to make some money in the future, start buying joycons and sell them for mint in a couple years.
You know when you said Nintendo just being a software company and just selling their games on other platforms is actually the smartest thing you have said out of everything else, basically it's actually true Nintendo would actually make more money if they did that. Plus I believe Nintendo is going down the same path as Xbox and PlayStation because one of them is Nintendo's attitude and ego towards the fans, another one is Nintendo actually has new competition for the handheld hardware such as the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, MSI Claw, Legion Go, phones, tablets and many others, Nintendo can't rely on the first party exclusives games these days and it's going to be more so in the nearby future (because first party exclusives games can't really sell hardware these days it has to have something more to entice people).
One more gripe you could have added to your switch video- it runs out if batteries even when turned off, and takes f o r e v e r to get enough charge to turn back on Mine has now been plugged in for over an hour and it still won't turn on.
I love Nintendo for the most part, especially their games, and I also love the Switch because it has those games, and I love the hybrid design. It's a dream design actually for me, and something I imagined after using a Wii U. Like, what if I could use the Wii U Gamepad as a handheld away from the console. I remember doing a sort of blog post about it before the Switch released, and when it was officially announced, it was a great feeling. Anyway, yeah, Nintendo as a company is more so what sucks than the actual Switch itself. Their refusal to take advantage of their classic library is ridiculous. The paid online, especially the $50 a year for N64 games, is a rip off. The fact that I can't digitally "own" any of these games and they are tied to a limited time service is stupid. Their pricing for "remasters" like Skyward Sword at $60, and then tying and Amiibo to an exclusive feature only available to that Amiibo....wut? The fact that the OG Switch dock scratches the Switch, both front and back is laughable design...it's like they didn't test the dock at all, and it was a last minute addition. The Eshop is an absolute joke, and is slower than molasses. There's no D-pad, or an option to buy an official d-pad Joy-Con, why? And the last issue I'll mention, they have been constantly been releasing incomplete games, and advertising them as getting free content, when really, the game wasn't ready for release, but they released it anyway, in turn making their physical copies almost useless.
Another thing that gets me is that new OLED model. I mean, it's nice that they finally decided to put in an OLED screen, but why now, and why on that model? It would have made more sense to put an OLED screen on the Switch Lite. You know, the model that _can't_ be docked.
Well if the company is what sucks than ultimately everything will. Nintendo just just doesn’t make any substantial effort anymore. Not really a problem for me since I haven’t touched the switch in years. I think this might be the case for a lot of Switch owners, which will definitely effect them. I’ll be buying a Steam Deck instead of a new switch next time.
As a Nintendo Fan who has followed them for 30 years now, I feel extremely disappointed by this company now and this type of feedback needs to reach them or they will go downhill from here. No matter how good BOTW 2 will be, that won't make me dislike this company any less with their horrible decisions and the way they treat their consumers. Its slowly becoming a disgusting company.

As a gaming enthusiast who owns a gaming PC and a PS4 as well as a Switch, my switch has been gathering dust for the past year. I've hardly played it since I got it 2 years ago. There is just not enough 1st party games to keep me interested, and the prohibitive tag of 60$, when I can buy fantastic games for less than 20$ on other platforms just makes me not want to take the plunge just to try them and potentially find that I hate it (Cough cough... ACNH...cough). I have played most indie games on offer on other platforms too, so I really own the switch only for 1st party offerings. Combine that with them being the most anti-consumer video-game company rivaling EA in my book with all the fan projects being shut down and all the asinine decisions, the Switch is my first Nintendo system since the GameCube and my last Nintendo system. I will not put up with their sh** ever again. Also the system is deceptively expensive as hell. It cost me over 500$ when I got the switch just to buy a Pro controller, a 128gb Mssd card, and 2 games that were at least 2-3 years old at the time. Really, never going with Nintendo ever again, they've lost me as a customer.
As a longtime Nintendo fan, I agree with the durability issues. The Switch joycon is the first Nintendo controller that I've ever had trouble with from them. I did get a free fix from them, but current Nintendo feels different from classic Nintendo in a bad way (probably doesn't help that they have EA's prior leader Doug Bowser). Edit: You lost me at software though. Pokémon isn't developed by Nintendo (Game Freak is incompetent), and I don't think that they'd do better as a software only company (especially after 100 million Switch sales). Online does suck though.

Nintendo shot itself in the foot the day they abandonned the Wii. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The wide selection of quality games, the straightforward menu, free online mode. After the Wii U's massive failure they introduced the Switch as another cash grab. Now, you need to pay for everything you used to be able to do. It's also a massive gimmick with everything from the joycons to the portability (even more so than the Wii's motion controls). The Wii U and Switch took the Wii's simplistic approach and undid all the progress that was made with it. And plus, the Wii was ahead of it's time. It could do so much more than play games. It was an all-in-one entertaining information box. You could get the weather, read the latest worldwide news, create Miis and enter them in contests and so much more! I may be biased because the Wii was my first ever console and I don't own a Switch, but the Wii is miles ahead even if it just handles 480p resolution. Tldr ; graphics aren't everything.
my switch lite has been fine after hundreds of hours of use. However, the home button actually cracked about a week after I got it.. the transparent ring around the opaque portion. it's bizarre but wasn't a big enough issue for me to deal with swapping it out. I got the lite to travel with and beat up a little. I wasn't expecting it to self destruct though!

Nindeno definitly has problems and I don't defend them for it, they should be critisied. But unlike some other publishers at least they still make good games I'll keep buying them and if they don't I don't, ther's a reason why I havn't bough pokemon sword and shild. At least unlike most other triple a publishers nintendo makes good games instead of lootbox filled microtransaction based, buggy messes.
I was a member of the core Nintendo fanbase during the Wii U era, and now in the Switch era, I barely care about the company at all. The switch has literally burned me from having for the most part, nothing but uninteresting games banking on nostalgia, sequels to things I've played before and don't really care to play again, or ports from the Wii U and other older consoles. The switch online offering old games that they take away after a month is useless to me, as I still own all my older hardware and most of the games they constantly rerelease on physical copies THEY CANNOT TAKE AWAY FROM ME. There is no reason to buy third party games on the switch either, as they will run better and cost less money on literally any other platform, including my 9 year old gaming PC. (Which shows how bad the hardware actually is!) The portability is just a stupid gimmick to me as well. I used it a bit when the console first came out, but for the most part I don't see a point in portable gaming. It just doesn't appeal to me. My switch also has the warping issue, and now just sits in the dock collecting dust. I've been a fan of Nintendo for 20+ years, and now I honestly don't want to support the company anymore. I feel like the Switch has been a lot of Nintendo constantly kicking Wii U owners in the shins and laughing at us for supporting them when everyone else was kicking them in the shins.

In all likelihood you're still going to have a sub-optimal online experience, even with an ethernet adapter. All data transferred between the dock and the Switch occurs through one shared USB C port. This port is responsible for powering and charging the device, audio and video etc. I can't imagine this wouldn't cause a bottleneck or data speed cap, inherently.

I really wanted to change my brand because so far it's always been the brand I'm part of, certainly a brand I felt ownership for, but never *MY* brand as in the brand that is *ME.* This new one is. MRIXRT is _me._
I can respect that man, sometimes it is best to rebrand yourself as something you feel represents you as you. But I will say it threw me off when I saw that change.

@@Goldfire345They always were crap. I remember the N64 also dealt with drift. Blown capacitors and corroded/cracked contacts were also common. The Wii in addition to destroying TVs experienced Bluetooth issues and overheating. The memory and power supply were finicky for some. Wii U also had memory and boot issues that led to a bricked console. How common that was is unknown given the console was unpopular. The GameBoy Advance/SP screens would randomly crack in your pocket or backpack. The internal battery would fail or fuse would blow preventing charging. For the DS, I remember the touch screen would become unresponsive and backlight might fail. And the GameCube, oh boy, that disc drive was a PoS. I remember having to do black magic trickery to get my games to read. I found it funny how RRoD was always brought up in the console war back then but the Wii's issues outside of broken TVs were ignored. I can't tell who has worse customer service. Sony or Nintendo. I need not mention Microsoft because Don Mattrick killed Xbox just fine on his own in 2013.
I finally decided to cave and bought a Switch earlier this week, my first Nintendo thing in yonks. While I'm totally loving BotW I'm taken aback by just how terrible the machine itself is. The WiFi barely stays connected, the Joycons are pure rubbish and I can't understand why so many old games are being sold at new game prices.

Seeing people get switches after years without a Nintendo system has made me realize how different the things people will put up with are. I don't play much online, I don't use wifi on my consoles often, and for whatever reason my joycons have been fine for 4 years now. Meanwhile I'm seeing people pay 60 dollars for remasters a year and a half after the original and they don't have an issue with it on consoles aside from Nintendo's, with borderline, if not entirely required online services that cost 3 times as much. And the consoles themselves are just bad PC's that cost more than they're worth, at least Nintendo attempts to do something unique. They also steer clear of microtransactions on console almost entirely. All of these companies suck and have sucked for decades, they're just terrible in their own special ways.
As someone who started off playing games on snes and the og gameboy it baffles me that people are still willing to buy anything from Nintendo. They barely ever improve anything, when they do they manage to remain 7+ years behind current technology and they rely on their small ammount of interesting ip to the point of beating a dead horse. I really wish sony would drop another handheld just to fuck Nintendos revenue streams.

BoTW was awful and overrated - minimal mob types, breaking weapons, temples that you either immediately get your reward, you fight only 3 different bosses or you do a simple puzzle. You essentially get your stamina up so you can climb around in an environment completely void of personality. Absolute garbage game.

Animal Crossing isn't fun anymore and it's lost its core. Now it's a game built entirely for people trying to customize vs. experience their little village. It is no longer about how big moving out from home and the people you meet. It's now just a cutesy customization simulator. This is so obvious in the stale dialogue and personalities from the animals and the fact that they replaced an entire cool feature with a hollow one but kept the skin: message in a bottle. Finding a bottle every week or so was awesome, thousands of randomly generated messages to read but now it's just a dumb DIY recipe.

I got switch lite for Animal crossing ( I am new to the series). I decided to sell my PS4. Big mistake- I thought games would run at least pretty close to the games in PS4, but even just minecraft worked like crap on Switch. I played animal crossing, had months of break and forced myself to play again, because it was so expensive! Cannot help but it is so boring and repeptitive. It is cute though, but is it really worth how much they charge for it even now after over a year from release. It is fun for some time but it started feeling like a chore after my island filled up and also the island started to lag.
I decided to sell my switch as now i mainly play Minecraft and it works much better on my regular laptop 😅

The switch was the first console I've owned since xbox 360. I've been a PC gamer for over a decade and I thought the concept of a handheld system that can play AAA quality games was pretty awesome. I've put countless hours into the switch and I'll admit I've had fun with the thing but Its flaws are numerous and if this is how nintendo treats its consumers I will never buy another one of their products. As soon as I got my steam deck the switch became obsolete.
Plus you can emulate switch games on the stream deck IN BETTER QUALITY THAN THE SWITCH, which is wild.

The problem with Nintendo is that there's no Iwata and Regigie anymore. Also they're caught up in a "no risk" mentality which means that because of the failure of the Wii U they have lost third party support and they want to save and keep as much money as possible to later apply it into something else. That's why they have the switch in the state that it is, they don't want to risk it and refuse to accept outside inspiration, they're droppining the ball hard.

I'm getting to the point where I'm tired of how nintendo has been. I've been upset with the online service for a while now. Also the price for playing ocarina of time on my switch, realizing I can play a better version of it for free on PC. Nintendo is just slacking big time.

I get why people feel that way, but I honestly prefer that they don't compete directly with sony and microsoft in terms of raw power. The 16-bit console wars were stupid, and videogames aren't cheap. I can't afford to be buying a new $500+ console every few years. I used to love Sony, but none of their old exclusives that I liked are the same entities they once were, if they still existed at all. I felt similarly about Nintendo too for a long time, even longer than with Sony because Sony joined the game later. But Nintendo seems to have corrected this problem. While they still put out the kinda games that don't seem familiar, they also started putting out the ones that do again.
With the Nintendo being cheaper, it's actually an option to consider, whereas Sony and Microsoft aren't, even if they did have games I really wanted to play(the only one I really missed out on was Ghost of Tsushima, but that's coming to PC now anyway).
I do wish it either had better power, or they optimized some games better to run with the power it does have, and some games could just look better, sure, but honestly graphics have never been a concern of mine. I'm much more interested in fun gameplay, and I feel like a lot of the newer games with ultra realistic graphics end up focusing so much on making the graphics look that way that they legitimately don't have time to flesh out other parts of the game. Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom look like cartoons, but the way the games play, all the options you have, all the physics interactions being so logical and intuitive... that whole experience more than makes up for the lack of photorealistic graphics. Nintendo could probably achieve both, but how long would we be waiting between releases, and how much more money would we have to pay to get it?
I really hate how people say "you can just repair your 80 dollar controllers for free!" Sure but whats stopping the controller from drifting again? They arent adressing the main problem.
I've never had a switch controller drift on me, but you're not wrong. And it's a pain in the ass to send it out in the first place, and what if it gets lost/stolen/destroyed in the mail?
Nintendo is a very old and proud Japanese company, and that directly leads to, what I can best describe, its *legendary hubris* whenever it's very successful in a console generation.

I adored my switch at launch, every single game I picked up was incredible and I was pretty blind to the console's flaws, but by year 2 i barely played it outside of a handful of small games. Waited until last year to mod it, and although that meant no online on the modded sd card partition, it made me use and appreciate the console significantly more. new life was breathed into an underpowered soulless system through custom themes, piracy, homebrew, etc. if anyone else is dissatisfied with their console and dont mind the risk, take it. its totally worth it!
however it should not take the work of fans to make an active console enjoyable. as someone who grew up in the wii u era the switch has been the most insane monkey's paw of "i want this company to be succsessful again." i love my modded switch, but when mobile phones outpace your console in power, customization, and user satisfaction shortly after launch, you've done something wrong.
I was one of the many who grew up playing Nintendo, but I’ve grown tired of their policies and inability to keep up with the competition in terms of power and overall care for the consumer. It just seems like they’re arrogant, and I hate to say it, but I’d like to see them face some challenges in order to push them to change their ways. Until that happens, I’m sticking with Xbox and PlayStation. If I ever want to play old Nintendo games, emulation exists.
I finally got to play around and use the switch a bit at my friend's house a couple of months ago and got to experience how mushy and small the joy cons were, not only that, I was seriously astonished to see how cheap and cramped the whole thing felt, I can't imagine someone spending more than a couple of hours playing BOTW, or any game really, undocked without a real controller, much less over one hundred.
Bro it's not cheap it really isn't the only flaw to me is that if you got a bundle like an OLED splatoon 3 version it doesn't come with the game and that 360 bucks right there....
I have a switch lite and had put in thousands of hours before I had moved to my Xbox series S. Now when I try to play on my switch again my hands start to cramp and hurt 😭‼️

Bought the Switch at launch and I absolutely despise it. Have less than 300hrs on the system and two pairs of joycon have had drifting issues.

I'm not joking when I say I prefer the Wii U. I just think the Switch is mediocre. If anything, it inspired others to make better handheld consoles. The fact that people are still paying $349.99 for a console that's 6 or 7 years old blows me away. And the fact that instead of including a proper gamepad in the box for your $299/$349, they sell it separately for $69.99.
The switch has become completely dependant on 3rd party support to prop up the platform, yet those same 3rd party games are the worst versions of those same games, the switch is great for their exclusives but why buy an inferior version of a game I can play in 4K@60fps on my ps5, the portability factor just isn't worth the sacrifices, especially when it comes to resolution and performance
I decided to stop supporting them due to their recent behaviour, they have become too corporate and exploitative, I don't have patience for their bullshit, will I miss out on their games? sure. Do I absolutely need to play them? nah.
I felt the same buddy. But I’m just buying my switch collection on eBay. I bought my switch and games and accessories all on eBay for a great price. Because Nintendo products are definitely not worth paying full retail haha. I bought a switch complete boxed with extra controllers and pro controller for $230. I’ve bought many games for $30 as well. You have to know how to search eBay for the deals.
I really like some franchises, but Nintendo half assed the switch releases like they half ass everything they do. Their only hope is their IP’s which they ruthlessly protect via copy write yet they clearly don’t give the developers the time or resources to create a polished product. Most of the major first party games they release don’t even run well because Nintendo decided to build as cheap as possible using a generation old mobile console chip. Developers are clearly getting screwed by this and Nintendos refusal to invest in better technology so they developers have more space than those pathetic little cards they have to shove their games into fitting. Keep in mind Nintendo could have freed up more space and crated a better functioning console by giving their console an SSD drive and trying a download only version of games so developers have more space to work with. But that would cost money for RND and Nintendo would much rather invest in a stupid gimmick that just holds their games back rather than actually invest in any form of more powerful technology. What a joke their hardware has become, and its a roadblock their IP’s are going to run into until Nintendo eventually falls into the dust

I’m by no means a nintendo fan boy, but to be fair to Nintendo, they are the only ones still making handhelds. Sony dropped out of it despite how nice the vita was (lack of support by Sony killed it) and Microsoft was never in the market. It’s nice being able to play on the go, or to just play for a bit in bed or so. Naturally, the miniaturization of the hardware and the uniqueness of the interface won’t be anywhere near as powerful as a dedicated console. This console has touchscreen, motion controls, and the IR sensor, all built in right out of the box. I (and my son) have been enjoying ours. We also have a ps5 and xbox one, and those do not have these features nor the portability.
The same was true of their previous portables (GB, GBA, DS, 3DS), they didn’t hold a candle to the graphical prowess of their console counterparts, or even their competitors (game gear, psp, vita). But their games and unique features (especially the ds and 3ds) were phenomenally fun.
That said, i agree with you on the eshop practices. It’s atrocious that the entire shop can be taken down. But this also true for Sony. Losing access to the psp, ds/3ds eshop is horrible. Even Sony reversed it’s decision for the vita eshop (thank goodness).
The biggest issue I have with both Sony and Nintendo is the lack of backwards compatibility. We see much better support in this regard from Microsoft, with the latest Xbox series X being compatibility with games going back all the way to the beginning, the original xbox.
Edit: one issue you didn’t bring up is owning multiple switches. It’s not easy to share digital games you own across your own systems.
Another point is that Nintendo has always been behind in terms of console power levels since the SNES days. They’ve never caught up since. SNES (1990), Sega CD (1992), PS1 (1994), N64 (1996), and so on. Nintendo’s hardware has been out classes for decades. Their saving grace? Their game library is enormous. And most of them are exclusive to Nintendo.
I miss Iwata. I feel like he had NIntendo on the right path.
This new guy feels like the start of all the problems, putting business first to bad effect.
And my first game was either Mario or Zelda. I remember playing it at my uncle’s cabin when I was just a wee babe. We even had a copy of Metal Gear way back. I thought it was the Incredible Hulk.

When I was a kid I was so eager to be advertised to by Nintendo, I was a huge Nintendo fanboy, but luckily I was an even bigger fanboy for kojima, so when Death Stranding came out I got a PS4 and learned more about the gaming industry as a whole. I can't stand advertising and propaganda, and the stronger that gets, the less I wanna play Nintendo... I feel like Nintendo stays as strong as it is by having such a strong hold on the family friendly market that it's parents and kids first choice when deciding videogames, the same way Disney stays in business

But for real, you listed out many of the frustrations I have with my own switch. I do like being able to play while comfy in bed though, but it's hard for that to outweigh my limited library due to game cost, and frustration with my unending drift.

Now not only are the Wii and DSi shops gone, they also shut down the servers that allowed you to redownload purchases. It's inevitability going to happen with Wii U and 3DS next. There's no excuse for it when I can go on my Xbox series s and buy and download original Xbox and 360 games with no issues.
As a big Nintendo fan, I firmly agree with all your points. Sorry if I’m late, UA-cam just recommended me this video today. The biggest problem with my Nintendo Switch isn’t the Joy-Con drift, it’s the freaking WiFi chip. I have had so many battles trying to get my hotspot to connect to it. Even my 3DS XL and HP laptop connect to it just fine (I don’t have ethernet or a WiFi router.). My Switch only connects to the Internet whenever it feels like it. Still, I love my Nintendo Switch to bits, and it even slightly helped me bond more with a close friend I hope to officially date one day. A shame I can’t play with her online because she can’t afford to get pass the paywall, thanks Nintendo. 🥴

I feel like game consoles as a whole really have no reason to exist. I don't say that as a PC master racer (I actually prefer playing on consoles), but before it was a matter of each console being different and being able to do different things. If they're all capable of pretty much the same thing then there's really no point. The Switch could be different, but more often it seems to just play it safe and be what the other two are being, just worse. You used to be able to say "this feels like a Gamecube game, this feels like a PS1 game" etc. Now they just feel like games. The individuality of consoles is gone.
The Nintendo Switch is just not competitive. The other consoles are gaming on 4K and HDR. Nintendo builds cheap devices relying on a gimmick to sell them. The Wii had motion controls but it was still Standard Definition. The latest gimmick is a hybrid console. Nintendo's customer base are small children. They used to be competitive up to the Gamecube. They lost me as a customer for life ever since they launched the Wii.
Nintendo stated before that they aren't trying to compete with Sony or Microsoft. They're always doing their own thing. And if your reasoning for the Switch not being competitive is because they don't have 4K then that just means Nintendo isn't for you. Stick to PC or something if you don't like it. You don't need the highest current gen specks to have fun. Also you say "gimmick" as though it's a bad or silly thing which it's not. Sure some gimmicks were not the best but the Switch being a hybrid console is the best "gimmick" they've had yet. Can you take an Xbox/PS/PC with you on the plane or a road trip? No. That's why people buy Switches. Lastly, I hear people say this a lot but Nintendo's customer base is not small children. I get that some people get that idea with Nintendo's past marketing and business model but that certainly isn't true in the Switch era. The marketing targets young adults most of the time and they've been bringing over a lot of 3rd and 2nd party games with higher rating. This part isn't even an argument it's just a fact so I'm not gonna go any further on this. Anyways I've said all this but don't think I'm white knighting for Nintendo or anything. I enjoy their games but I still agree they have shitty business practices and the Switch certainly isn't a perfect console. Good day.

You forgot to mention how the switch lites faulty videos chips that Nintendo will not replace for free. I grew up on Nintendo but I'm honestly over it now. Went through now 4 switch and switch lites due to faulty hardware.

This will be the last generation that I support them. Nearly 5 years in and we still don't have a dedicated Nintendo Online ecosystem cause I refuse to ever "buy back" hundreds of dollars worth of games on a newer platform. Most of the library is still made up of Wii U ports and very few Switch based games. Their business practices are as blatant as ever. Them pretending that Joycon Drift was made up by Sony or Microsoft. Switch Online is a huge ripoff that is worth $0. We don't even get good servers that cost money and we don't get N64, GameCube, or Wii games as part of the program ? Like Nes and Snes games are super easy to emulate and you could always buy a Bluetooth controller to use. I see Nintendo pulling another Switch move where we get games on Next Nintendo that should have been on Switch.

Interesting video, I barely play my switch, so I can't say I've experienced any of the common hardware problems, but it is strange to me that so many exist only to either be ignored or begrudgingly fixed due to lawsuits.
What was the game of that indie dev that got ghosted? I don't know if it would make much of a difference in sales to them, but if their game is good, I'd be interested in picking up their game.
I reached out, but considering the information and their relationship with Nintendo, the developer would rather not say. The game is coming to Steam shortly, hopefully the sales will be out of this world.

Great video. I have owned nearly all the Nintendo systems at some point up until the WiiU which I didn't bother with. I came across your video whilst researching the Nintendo Switch, something I was thinking about picking up for the family. However I was shocked at the pricing of a console from 2017. A part from second hand units on eBay the prices have seemingly never budged, and the games, the games are shockingly expensive. Its all a shame really as, as you say, theres loads of barriers into the Switch. I could afford it sure, and I am luck to be able too, but not everyone will. However I'm hanging fire as the things I've witnessed from my research, price point, games, hardware and software problems don't seem worth the hassle.

I remember this underrated Nintendo Entertainment System game called “Startropics”. Startropics is a very fun and very great action adventure game released in 1990. It was never released in Japan. The main character is “Mike Jones”, a baseball player who travels to the southern cross to find his missing uncle. The game is similar to Zelda and Mike is similar to Ness. It would be great for Mike Jones to be in smash bros. Just spreading word about the series because it’s underrated but a very good game. 👍
That point of a Nintendo title/franchise being many peoples first intro to gaming is so true. My first ever game was Pokemon Emerald on the GBA. And as much as I Love the Switch for being my reintroduction to Nintendo and introduction to all these other Nintendo titles and franchises I have never played before (as I moved on to Playstation and PC gaming after the GBA), Nintendo’s decisions, practices, and choices all really suck, and that is really a shame.

literally this. The only reason i own one is for first party exclusives. As a console its behind even the ps4 and the xbox one. Its game selection is just ports of games that came out 8 to 10 years ago. And switch fans act like a port of diablo 3 or having it be an indie console is good. My switch has been sitting there collecting dust ever since i got mine.

The game prices have always been the down point for me. I own a switch but its collecting dust. Cuz even games that are 5 years old at this point are basically still full price. I cant afford to play games on the machine i own, rendering the machine useless.
First game I've ever played is probably Mario Kart Wii. I was maybe 3 at the time, I remember loving the Mushroom track the most. Spyro is a close second on the PS2, then Pokemon Diamond. Me and my cousin obsessed over a PS2 game called Ape Escape 3, we played it so much that it broke and cried over it lol

I've had my joycons replaced by Nintendo, wait for it TWICE!!! Warning they don't "fix" the joycons, they simply replace the boards in them with the same flawed board. Also they didn't bother to advertise the fact they fix them, I had to find out from friends, no Direct on it nothing.

I get why people hate EA, but as someone who doesn't have a lot of money to spend on games it's really awesome to be able to actually play new games through Origin Access. It feels so bizarre to me to be able to pay like $12 or something and get to play EAs newest games for a month and then look over at Nintendo where to have to pay to get.. What? Contra 1 for a month?

I remember having joycon drift on my controllers me and my grandparents tried so hard to fix it but we couldn't and my uncle just resolved in getting a new controller I mean we looked up so many different ways to get it out of drift but we couldn't fix it and I was really sad because those were my first two controllers

The problem with the Switch's hardware isn't the ''lateral thinking with withered technology'' philosophy. The Game Boy was released more than THIRTY years ago, was the LEAST powerful of it's generation's portables, and survived A FUCKING GULF WAR BOMBING. It also was cheaper and had better battery life than the competition (this contradicts your ''older, cheaper and _less effective_ '' statement at 9:49). This was not in spite of, but BECAUSE of Gunpei Yokoi's paradigms. The Wii and Wii U also had decent internet connection and resistent hardware.
This isn't the _creative_ Nintendo that limited itself to get the most out of old tech. This is the corporate, cold, bussiness side of Nintendo that we didn't see as children, and Doug Bowser has now made more apparent than ever.
Nintendo should stop trying to reinvent the wheel with every console generation and instead just focus on making good consoles without gimmicks, but with POWER enough to run games at the same level of PS and Xbox. The Switch was a decent idea, but it sucks that it is 1080 in docked mode and just a shitty 720p in handheld. It should've been 1440p in docked and a 1080p screen on the console instead. Games such as Breath of the Wild suffered quite a bit thanks to the relatively low specs. Lots of pop in's and stuff like that that took away quite alot of immersion for me. Nintendo wanted the world of breath of the Wild to feel Alive, but have no console strong enough to keep animals on screen for more than a few seconds before they simply vanish to save on the system memory. Enough shitty gimmicks consoles, Nintendo. Please!

I hate to break it to you but 1440p of power wasn't really feasible when the Switch launched, at least not at the price they launched it at. I'm not defending Nintendo. I'm just pointing out people tend to vastly overestimate the power needed for higher resolutions, like 1440p and 4k.
Even PCs struggle to play current gen games at higher resolutions with a reasonable frame rate. 1440p has only recently started becoming a common sweet spot for games.

I've never had a non nintendo console, and I stay very disconnected from playstation and xbox game series/franchises. I only know a few ones very well. This is because of my history and basically how 1 simple decision from my older cousin(leaving his n64 at where I lived at the time, at which I was around 7-8 years old) created a chain reaction that led to what I have today. Fortunately I have never experienced any hardware issues aside the joycon drift, but I am baffled by how many exist. There's no "Nintendo BR" for brazil, where I am from, forcing us to get unnoficial fixes. I did not play on my switch for 8 months because we couldn't find a good place to get it fixed. There are some issues you pointed out that I never even knew existed. Nintendo from what I can see is the company that does incredible and amazing things while at the same time doing the worst possible things. I really do not like how nintendo treats fangames and abuses copyright.
They did respond to me after I told them that people were using Iwata's death against them. And I wrote that letter as a proof that they still listen to their fans

Nintendo teamed up with Panda, free melee is dead permanently, Nintendo promised they would improve the online expansion and they did and everything else seems to be a okay ish. Luigi's mansion on GameCube was my favorite game of all time, so I was very excited for the sequels. I can't speak for number 2, because I've yet to play it, but was bitterly disappointed in the 3rd installment. The color scheme didn't say "spooky" to me, it just felt like any other modern Mario game. The mechanics were okay, but not as exciting as the original. And the levels felt repetitive and tedious, like EGAD stop telling me to hurry up go up the elevator, this isn't even fun anymore!! It took away what I loved most about the original game which was free-exploration in a non-linear map and a genuinely mysterious and "scary" vibe.. very disappointed. Apart from this, I've gotten bored with most other switch games and will probably sell mine and "switch" (lol) to xbox or PC gaming
I still don’t understand who are all these ppl that buy Nintendo Switch I sometimes forget that it’s even a console I know not one person who owns one yet know many who own Xbox or PlayStation. 5-6 years in after 2 sets of joycons (both of them sent back twice, still drifting) and I'm wondering why I'm still paying Nintendo. The n64 expansion pass was pretty much the last straw from me.
Nintendo fans defend every bad decision that Nintendo makes and they parrot each others arguments. They give Nintendo no incentive to improve on any front whatsoever. Have fun playing sub HD and sub 30 fps in 2025 and paying 60 dollars for old re-releases that run and look worse than base model PS4 games with less and worse online features than Xbox live had in 2004.

Old games being resold at Higher prices than their original selling price thinking they'll get more money because of Nostalgia and the saddest part is they did. They don't want people to Pirate their games yet this is the reason I say "You can Pirate Games that were made for consoles that are discontinued" because the pricing is so stupidly high that I physically can't blame anyone for wanting to. I went to Gamestop because I wanted to get my friend Hollow Knight for Christmas. For ps4 it's around 20-25 US Dollars. Understandable it's an indie game, and despite the fact the game is so good I would pay more, For a USED COPY for the Switch it was 50 usd. Idk how moneymaking works nor if Gamestop makes the prices are not.
Gamecube was Nintendos last no gimmick console whats that like 20 years ago? Did not enjoy the switch decent library took 3 years and by then I was already gone, best thing it did was collect dust. For me, the portability just isn't worth the sacrifices of dated hardware and technology, I mean the PS4 came out 4 years before the switch yet the switch is still inferior
I hear about these problems all the time. It’s never happened to me like Joy con drift or streaks on screen, etc. but yeah the cloud-based stuff is dumb. I have no trouble with Wi-Fi. And I have the first ever release. This which is always been a secondary console to me. I don’t tend to use it portably unless I have to, I just use the pro controller but it’s the system where I get strictly Nintendo games or games like South Park. When Guardians of the Galaxy came out, I got it for PS4 because you get the free PS5 upgrade which worked perfectly when I got mine. So I have no complaints with the switch. I actually love it. But I do see the issues.
You have said everything I was thinking here. The Switch has so many flaws, but I think I've only just gotten slight drift after six years and have never had wifi issues. I do agree with most of his points. I don't think Nintendo has been for hardcore gamers since the early 2000s. The Switch reminds me of the 3ds. It's behind on the times and the games are casual. It's become primary for me since my dad is usually on my ps4 and my PC died, and I still have very little issues. Then again, I've never really cared about graphics or hardware or... anything? if a game is fun, I'm down for it. My main issue is that the shop sucks.
And as long as Nintendo is selling Legend of Zelda, I'm buying from Nintendo. Flaws and all. Maybe when I have more money I'll get a steam deck and emulate, but not right now.... Also I'd have to learn how to emulate and I am a moron when it comes to tech. For now, the switch has crash, spyro, and LoZ. I'm more than happy (i miss Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy so much I want my PS4 back).

Nintendo's obsession with using old hardware has always been vexing. On one hand I like the idea that a good game doesn't need to be propped up with the latest and greatest flashy graphics. On the other it limits what an already good game could have been because it was developed to run on an nVidia Tegra chip from 10 years ago.
Nintendo's pricing, dogshit marketplace, and strange interpretation online gaming are quite annoying deficits. Why should I buy my old Virtual Console titles again when they're the same old games that they always were? Oddly, the VC games I would buy are the old Pokemon games given how trash modern Pokemon is but I know that GameFreak/Nintendo would rather release a remake of an older title and sell it for full price .
To answer the question at the end of your video, I think it was Yoshi's Story on the N64. I disntinctly remember being scared of all the world 6 levels.

I've suffered from I kid you not every hardware issue on here. Dead pixels, warping, connective issues, unresponsive bumpers, stick drift ect. This combined with the lack of real sales and paid online has turned me off the system completely, only using it once in a blue moon. One of the most defective systems I've used.

First video game every played? Super Mario 64 on my big bro's 64. I just remember doing the penguin race over and over again.
After that it was New Super Mario Bros on the DS. As it was the only DS game I had, I played it to death. Then New Super Mario Bros on the Wii with my 2 sisters. I was always Blue Toad. Teamwork made the Dream work and I vividly remember us beating the game and savin Peach.
Then it was my friend's old broken 3DS he gave me for my birthday. The camera was busted and you had to hold it a certain way to charge, but I loved that thing. Picked up Smash and Dragonball Fusions.
Now I have a Switch and New 2DS. I beat my first Zelda game: Link's Awakening! And I'm now playing through The Minish Cap.
I'm going to challenge your point on whether or not Nintendo is "holding back game developers" with its low-end graphics.
It's true that more powerful hardware can change design decisions. That being said, all 3rd-Party devs have to decide what to put resources into, and sometimes you make a cut based on business or artistic vision. If I make a game for PC, I need to either make graphical settings that allow low-end PCs to run it, or decide I'm okay not getting money from low-end PC users. Would those low-spec PCs be "holding back the game industry?"
Furthermore, many 3rd-Party devs simply skip the Switch, and it's fine. The Switch didn't stop Monster Hunter World from releasing in 2018, and that game was still a massive success despite not being on Switch. Instead, Capcom made a separate game, Monster Hunter Rise, for the Switch.
The way I see it, Nintendo isn't holding back the games industry as much as it's trying to create its own, more isolated market through its unique hardware features, 1st-Party Exclusives, and low-spec processing. Now whether or not THAT is a good idea is a much more interesting debate.
I agree with many of your other points. The hardware feels cheap and Nintendo has made several anti-consumer decisions this generation. But the games industry is far too big for one company (Nintendo) to hold the rest of it back.
I think the difference between a low-end PC and a Switch (with regards to 'holding back') is that the Switch is *such a large playerbase* that you can't ignore it--and it grows every day, whereas "very low end PC" is a playerbase that is constantly shrinking everyday.

The cheap joycons are what is killing the switch. Imagine in 10 years when you want to play breath of the wild, good luck finding working joycons. If you want to make some money in the future, start buying joycons and sell them for mint in a couple years.

You know when you said Nintendo just being a software company and just selling their games on other platforms is actually the smartest thing you have said out of everything else, basically it's actually true Nintendo would actually make more money if they did that.
Plus I believe Nintendo is going down the same path as Xbox and PlayStation because one of them is Nintendo's attitude and ego towards the fans, another one is Nintendo actually has new competition for the handheld hardware such as the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, MSI Claw, Legion Go, phones, tablets and many others, Nintendo can't rely on the first party exclusives games these days and it's going to be more so in the nearby future (because first party exclusives games can't really sell hardware these days it has to have something more to entice people).

One more gripe you could have added to your switch video- it runs out if batteries even when turned off, and takes f o r e v e r to get enough charge to turn back on

I love Nintendo for the most part, especially their games, and I also love the Switch because it has those games, and I love the hybrid design. It's a dream design actually for me, and something I imagined after using a Wii U. Like, what if I could use the Wii U Gamepad as a handheld away from the console. I remember doing a sort of blog post about it before the Switch released, and when it was officially announced, it was a great feeling.
Anyway, yeah, Nintendo as a company is more so what sucks than the actual Switch itself. Their refusal to take advantage of their classic library is ridiculous. The paid online, especially the $50 a year for N64 games, is a rip off. The fact that I can't digitally "own" any of these games and they are tied to a limited time service is stupid. Their pricing for "remasters" like Skyward Sword at $60, and then tying and Amiibo to an exclusive feature only available to that Amiibo....wut? The fact that the OG Switch dock scratches the Switch, both front and back is laughable design...it's like they didn't test the dock at all, and it was a last minute addition. The Eshop is an absolute joke, and is slower than molasses. There's no D-pad, or an option to buy an official d-pad Joy-Con, why? And the last issue I'll mention, they have been constantly been releasing incomplete games, and advertising them as getting free content, when really, the game wasn't ready for release, but they released it anyway, in turn making their physical copies almost useless.
Another thing that gets me is that new OLED model. I mean, it's nice that they finally decided to put in an OLED screen, but why now, and why on that model? It would have made more sense to put an OLED screen on the Switch Lite. You know, the model that _can't_ be docked.
Well if the company is what sucks than ultimately everything will. Nintendo just just doesn’t make any substantial effort anymore. Not really a problem for me since I haven’t touched the switch in years. I think this might be the case for a lot of Switch owners, which will definitely effect them. I’ll be buying a Steam Deck instead of a new switch next time.

As a Nintendo Fan who has followed them for 30 years now, I feel extremely disappointed by this company now and this type of feedback needs to reach them or they will go downhill from here. No matter how good BOTW 2 will be, that won't make me dislike this company any less with their horrible decisions and the way they treat their consumers. Its slowly becoming a disgusting company.

The problem is as soon as you say something negative you get labelled as a hater or biased against Nintendo. Constructive criticism is seen as a declaration of war.

As a gaming enthusiast who owns a gaming PC and a PS4 as well as a Switch, my switch has been gathering dust for the past year. I've hardly played it since I got it 2 years ago. There is just not enough 1st party games to keep me interested, and the prohibitive tag of 60$, when I can buy fantastic games for less than 20$ on other platforms just makes me not want to take the plunge just to try them and potentially find that I hate it (Cough cough... ACNH...cough). I have played most indie games on offer on other platforms too, so I really own the switch only for 1st party offerings. Combine that with them being the most anti-consumer video-game company rivaling EA in my book with all the fan projects being shut down and all the asinine decisions, the Switch is my first Nintendo system since the GameCube and my last Nintendo system. I will not put up with their sh** ever again. Also the system is deceptively expensive as hell. It cost me over 500$ when I got the switch just to buy a Pro controller, a 128gb Mssd card, and 2 games that were at least 2-3 years old at the time. Really, never going with Nintendo ever again, they've lost me as a customer.

As a longtime Nintendo fan, I agree with the durability issues. The Switch joycon is the first Nintendo controller that I've ever had trouble with from them. I did get a free fix from them, but current Nintendo feels different from classic Nintendo in a bad way (probably doesn't help that they have EA's prior leader Doug Bowser).
Edit: You lost me at software though. Pokémon isn't developed by Nintendo (Game Freak is incompetent), and I don't think that they'd do better as a software only company (especially after 100 million Switch sales). Online does suck though.

After the Wii U's massive failure they introduced the Switch as another cash grab.
Now, you need to pay for everything you used to be able to do. It's also a massive gimmick with everything
from the joycons to the portability (even more so than the Wii's motion controls).
The Wii U and Switch took the Wii's simplistic approach and undid all the progress that was made with it.
And plus, the Wii was ahead of it's time. It could do so much more than play games. It was an all-in-one entertaining information
box. You could get the weather, read the latest worldwide news, create Miis and enter them in contests and so much more!
I may be biased because the Wii was my first ever console and I don't own a Switch, but the Wii is miles ahead

my switch lite has been fine after hundreds of hours of use. However, the home button actually cracked about a week after I got it.. the transparent ring around the opaque portion. it's bizarre but wasn't a big enough issue for me to deal with swapping it out. I got the lite to travel with and beat up a little. I wasn't expecting it to self destruct though!
Great video! Very concise and well mannered points. That e-store looks tragic. As a PC and PS4 player, I can't imagine not having my online library available. It's where the market has been going for the last 5 years.
It's just such a backwards thinking that "anyone who wants to play this would've bought it physically."

Nindeno definitly has problems and I don't defend them for it, they should be critisied. But unlike some other publishers at least they still make good games I'll keep buying them and if they don't I don't, ther's a reason why I havn't bough pokemon sword and shild. At least unlike most other triple a publishers nintendo makes good games instead of lootbox filled microtransaction based, buggy messes.

I was a member of the core Nintendo fanbase during the Wii U era, and now in the Switch era, I barely care about the company at all. The switch has literally burned me from having for the most part, nothing but uninteresting games banking on nostalgia, sequels to things I've played before and don't really care to play again, or ports from the Wii U and other older consoles. The switch online offering old games that they take away after a month is useless to me, as I still own all my older hardware and most of the games they constantly rerelease on physical copies THEY CANNOT TAKE AWAY FROM ME. There is no reason to buy third party games on the switch either, as they will run better and cost less money on literally any other platform, including my 9 year old gaming PC. (Which shows how bad the hardware actually is!) The portability is just a stupid gimmick to me as well. I used it a bit when the console first came out, but for the most part I don't see a point in portable gaming. It just doesn't appeal to me. My switch also has the warping issue, and now just sits in the dock collecting dust.
I've been a fan of Nintendo for 20+ years, and now I honestly don't want to support the company anymore. I feel like the Switch has been a lot of Nintendo constantly kicking Wii U owners in the shins and laughing at us for supporting them when everyone else was kicking them in the shins.
I'm sorry they make you feel so neglected.

In all likelihood you're still going to have a sub-optimal online experience, even with an ethernet adapter.
All data transferred between the dock and the Switch occurs through one shared USB C port. This port is responsible for powering and charging the device, audio and video etc. I can't imagine this wouldn't cause a bottleneck or data speed cap, inherently.
