I felt weird after watching your name, I felt empty and depressed but not sad, the feeling of sadness was replaced by weirdness. I felt super weird and the whole week all I thought abt was this movie
The more anime u watch, the harder it is for an anime to make you feel like this again. So savour the depression while u can because it will be harder to feel like this again.
Kimi no nawa is like a curse to me! It was just too freakin good and I think no other anime can EVER top that movie 😭. It was sooo good I just can't describe it. If there's any anime you think that is nearly great, recommend it to me please. I will literally watch every one of the suggestions.
LaxusPlayz i watched koe no tadachi. I think I cried more watching koe no tadachi but I was more excited and my heart was racing watching Your name. Both movies are great though 😊

Spoiler Alert Kimi no na wa (Your Name)sure has left a hole deep inside all of us This kind of anime sure do hit the feels. It broke mine. I lost it when Taki wrote "I love you" instead of his name and when they both met again
Oh so it was "I love you" I couldn't understand as it was in Japanese and subtitles didn't work that time I was confused when Mitsuho said "I'll not remember your name by this" when she sees her hand afterwards So thanks!
So basically... "Fix the hole in your heart by watching all these and having your heart torn to pieces." Ahh yes, the only true way not to feel the pain anymore. But I agree with everything on the list, and everything recommended in the comments, all of them are amazing. I found "The Boy and the Beast" and "Plastic Memories" pretty good too.
What? No... What? Kimi No Na Wa makes the hole. Unless you're saying that "this guy" was the thing that makes the hole in my heart. In which case I must find him and make him mine.
ya but hardly the same feel. Hardly even earned a romance tag. Not that it was bad but if you go into it wanting romance you might be somewhat disappointed.
Garden of Words is "my" favourite movie EVER. At the end of the day, it all comes down to relatability and that movie hit home. I think it's Shinkai's best work
Garden of Words is also my favorite movie ever. The animations, graphics and the story is just amazing. Though it is short, it is still a masterpiece by Shinkai Makoto.
RiRi13 I think the enjoyment of the story in Garden of Words depends a lot on the viewer's personal life and experiences, and how many of its subtleties they can catch and wish to ponder upon. It's certainly not for everyone, but that's also partly the beauty of it. While probably not my favorite anime movie of all time, it's way up there and really hit me hard. Many of it's concepts were extremely relatable to me and it made me think for a long time afterwards. And of course, the art and soundtrack were just masterpieces on their own.
sten360 Very well said. The enjoyment of something, in general, is how much the viewer can relate to it. Thoughts, emotions, feelings, and experience just like you said.
sten360 yup I agree with you on that :) guess I couldn't connect much on a personal level there.. although definitely the animation was amazing and it still is something that I enjoyed watching ^^
"Your name" is my very first anime movie to watch when i was 14 years old (2017) which lead me to find more anime movies like it.....love that very first anime i watch and cried for😥
Masaaki Yuasa's "Ride Your Wave" is the only anime film that has ever made me sob uncontrollably. It's a beautiful piece of art about love, loss, and overcoming grief. Hands down, my favourite of all time. I definitely recommend it!
hey which sounds better . "Your name" or "Kimi no na wa" which directly translates to "what is your name?!" in japanese. (im japanese and live in Tokyo. loved the movie"
Guys, these anime moves will make you cry:- 1) Weathering with you 2) A silent voice (most emotional; I cried) 3) The garden of words ( made me cry) 4) Your Name ( made me cry) 5) 5 centimeters per second
If you watched "Your Name", you should watch "weathering with you" after that... I highly recommend that as it has something that Your Name fans will get goosebumps and a feeling of nostalgia ❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥😉
@@rocketlabung2214 there's an app called " zinitevi " (which is only available on Chrome), you can download this app and can watch like literally any anime or movie for example your name, weathering with you, John wick etc etc ... The only drawback (which is not even a drawback) is that you have to watch it in original audio ( example: if you're watching weathering with you then you will hear japanese audio) but if you don't understand japanese then you can just open subtitles... I hope this helps (zinitevi app is little bit complex in use but you'll learn eventually) ❤️❤️
I just watched A Silent Voice for the first time last night, personally my favorite anime movie ever, more so than Your Name. I highly recommend watching it.
I don't know how anyone can watch Your Name more than once. That shit is way too emotional for me, and I'm not even an emotional dude. Clannad After Story is the same way (although Clannad's first season is not very emotional at all). I know US marines who have cried watching the "After Story." If you want a suggestion for this type of show, I highly recommend Tokyo Magnitude 2.0. Your Name, Clannad After Story, and Tokyo Magnitude 2.0 are my all time top 3 most emotionally compelling animes. Anyways, thanks for the list. I will watch Wolf Children.
I'm like that but about a different anime. It is one extremely well made anime film but I cannot yet bring myself to watch again: Grave of the Fireflies.
+Blue Since we are talking about feels here, you might want to try "Anohana" or "We Still Don't Know the Name of the Flower We Saw that Day" (whew) and "The Anthem of the Heart" or "Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda". Haven't watched "Koe no katachi" yet but I've been waiting for that one for months. Also, I'm about to watch Your Name for the 5th time. XD +Brian Huss I have the Grave of the Fireflies in my playlist for more than a year now but I just can't seem to bring myself to watch it...
It's been about 10 years since I've seen Grave of the Fireflies, and I don't remember anything about it, so I may give it a second look. I've seen Anohana. It was ok. I remember wanting to see more of it after I finished, but I didn't think it was the same quality of storytelling as Your Name. It was a fun, cute story. I remember asking myself, why do they want Menma to pass on so bad? She eats, cooks, sleeps, and enjoys life like any other girl. You can talk to her and touch her. She even grows. She's more like an invisible person than a ghost. She doesn't even seem to want to move on. If I were the main character, I'd keep her around to help me cheat on tests, maybe eventually settle down, and have a couple of invisible babies or something. The whole deal with them trying to send her to the afterlife really took a dark turn in light of this, as it was almost like they were actively trying to kill her, again. That kind of ruined it for me. I felt like they were trying too hard to force this cliche that ghosts (if you can even call her that) actually want to pass on to the afterlife, when a little bit of creativity would have delivered a better outcome/solution. If you liked Anohana, I'd suggest maybe Nagi Asu. It's a more complex story about dealing with loss and life and fate and love and animosity and change in a different way that doesn't necessarily revolve around death, per se, but still concludes its story-lines in a very bitter-sweet way. But I digress. I've never seen your other suggestions. I'm a little hesitant to just watch any tear-jerker anime movie, because I'm not fond of exploitative story-telling (like Walking Dead, for example), where they kill people just to cause a scene, rather than to drive the story forward (like in Gurren Lagann) or as a natural outcome of the story (like in Rainbow). So I'll have to read up on them before I take a peak. But thanks for the suggestions. By the way, I saw Wolf Children. Again, this is another one of those stories, like Your Name, where no one (important) dies, but the story still manages to grab hold of you. It's a story about a young mother raising werewolves, that's not really about raising werewolves at all, but rather about the love of a mother and child, dealing with loss, finding your identity, accepting who you are, and finding your place in the world. Very masterful storytelling, that wove together a bunch of little details into one coherent relatable story.
You might be right about that. I was very careful not to say Clannad AS was a good story (because I'm honestly not sure if it was), only that it was emotional. Taken as a whole, Clannad AS seems to do a bit of that exploitative story-telling I was talking about. But it was able to pull it off to an extent with lots of foundation in creating the feel of family between bits of comedy. Also, the ending was not suppose to be taken so literally. You're suppose to put the pieces together yourself, and look for your own interpretation, rather than just taking the story for what it's worth. I know, I know. Thinking sucks. But it is what it is.
Why hasn't anyone mention Anohana yet? If you have watched both Your Lie in April and Clannad, this is the next series you should watch. 100% recommended!! Other series you may really enjoy are Parasyte the Maxim and Haikyuu, both in a different genre, but masterpieces nonetheless!
Ivan Piedad i finished the manga way way before the anime came out and even that came out during like what during 1987 so hence the saying old like raisin.
If you watch your lie in April and clannad, you’re legally obligated to watch anohana, they are the feels trio and if you watch one you have to watch all 3
namita rastogi In order for the girl (forgot her name) to move on, she had to thank the person who gave her her heart. That's the reason the guy was there because he already came to terms with his death before he died.
For me the anime that felt most relatable to" your name "was "the girl who leapt through time ".both these dramas include some extraordinary elements connecting the male and female leads.both are incredible stories
I just finished watching Your Name not long ago and I got to say it's one of the most amazing Anime I've ever seen, the characters, scenery and the story is something I haven't experienced before and I'm glad I did.. I would have loved it more if Taki and Mitsuha got together and talked about their experiences
I know you made this a while ago but thanks! Ive been having trouble finding good anime! One recommendation I have is, Snow White with the red hair! Its one of my favs, its about a girl who had to run away from her kingdom because she had to marry the prince just for her hair. She runs into Someone named Zen and he brings her to his kingdom. He ended up being a prince and it has two seasons of there love story and how there love for each other grew! Its also only called Snow White with the red hair because of the way she and zen met! Its a beautiful romance!
My list nearly all of the anime I know: -Your Lie in April -Your Name -Weathering With You -I Want to Eat Your Pancreas -A Silent Voice -Garden of Words not that great...imo -Violet Evergarden It's real good shit talking about a (I think brain washed) war vet how to be human, and searching for the meaning of love. I even heard recently that a second season is coming soon... (There is a trailer for season 2) -Hyouka half of it's fan-base focuses on its romance too much, but it definitely hold a spot in "A slice of life" if you understands the main character's stand point. -Beyond the boundary . Beyond the boundary: I'll be here The order for these are a little messy, first start with the TV show, then the "EP0", don't watch the "EP0" that first before the show. The "Beyond the boundary: I'll be here" has two parts, first part is a recap and a very important thing at the end of it, the second part is the real deal. It even somewhat portrays depression. This is a phrase from this movie that I must share, "Everyone paves thier own paths to happiness so I can't tell you what happiness is, but if you keep trying to reason with yourself instead of listening to your emotions, you'll never find happiness." - A whisker away - Anohana Not a bad one, this talks more on the emotional front of things. - Kokoro Connect Yet to watch it - Flavors of youth Yet to watch it, I heard it made by the studio that made "You name" but different director. - Hiromiya Comes out by Feb 2021, I'm excited for this one. There is a trailer for this. - You are beyond Comes out around November if I'm not mistaken, I plan on watching this when it comes out. - Pet girl of Sakursau Haven't watched it, yet. - Oregairu Yet to watch it - Sangatsu No Lion Yet to watch it. - Bunny girl senpai Yet to watch it. - Fireworks - Toradora More on the romance front, and told to be sad although it's good ending - Clanned . Clanned: After story Yet to watch it, heard it's supposedly sad. -orange Yet to watch -little busters Yet to watch - Misfit of the demon king academy This one is just badass. As of right now, I'm trying to binge on the saddest anime I can find to make myself cry.
ReLife is such a good anime too! The story is about a 27-year-old man who has a reckless life met a "relife" agent, this agent told him to drink a pill that can change him into a high-schooler again! The agent told him that after he finish his school, he'll definitely get a job, and while he's in this program, the company of relife will pay him.
For me "your name" isn't really that sad (it's more like tears of joy) things like i want to eat your pancrease hits you with real tears like, because it breaks your heart
"Say I love you" is a wonderful animated series..❤️. It has 13 episodes and each episode is of 24 minutes. I loved it so much that I completed the whole series in just 1 day.
I mean I watched it a while ago but it was ok, I would give it a 6/10 like it was good but not significant. Try watching I want to eat your pancreas, your name, a silent voice.
you can not relate to clannad after story unless you watch clannad. clannad speaks to my soul. you have to be patient because the show tends to go slow, but trust me you won't look at life at the same way you have before, after watching this
After watching your name, I instantly fall in love with anime films, Today I watched 5 centimeters per second, it's so heart breaking film I could never imagined, I regretted after watching the whole movie, Only the 1st episode was very satisfying, but the remaining 2 episodes was very disappointing. I will recommend not to watch this movie.
@@jxmbo4074 I already know how reality can be disappointing, though it can also be awesome sometimes. That said, i really don't want to waste my time watching the worst of reality. After reflecting, I came to the conclusion that maybe the objective wasn't to show how bad reality can be, but a message to us, to take control of our lives. I'm not saying that romance is everything, but ... Spoiler: The protagonist feels empty by the end of the movie and it is clear why it is, however had he been less passive, he might had achieved happiness.
João de Deus Vital Alves yes you’re right but in the last scene he sees that she moved on and he smiles and moves on himself too, showing progression and hope for the future
@@joaodedeusvitalalves5055 That wasnt the point though, it wasnt because he was being passive. The anime shows the painful reality, the truth. Just because two people love each other so much sometimes you still cant overcome the obstacle in life, it shows that he wasnt able to do anything to prevent that. Thats why in the ending he saw the girl turned back then disappeared (moved on) and so he decided to move on too.
steins gate was my favorite and i recommend it to everyone, but i agree its very slow and cheesy at first and it can get really confusing and dull so you have to keep that in mind when you watch it at first. by the end though you'll be glad you watched it
Guys, I literally can no longer watch "action anime". I watched Your Name, A Silent Voice and Violet Evergarden. Now I don't want to watch an anime unless it is a drama.
Well you quite sound funny tbh. I respect your opinion but we're similar i like "action anime" but even i watched sad and meaningful anime movies it doesn't stop me from watching Action Anime.
I recommend you watching: Tamako Love Story Orange Oregairu Bunny Girl Senpai Clannad Plastic Memories Angel Beats Weathering With You 5cm Per Second Garden of Words Hotarubi No Mori E Grave of Fireflies Erased Steins Gate Toradora I want to eat your pancreas Anohana These are pretty good romance animes.
There’s just something about *The Garden Of Words* that just hits me deeper and with my thoughts and feelings than Your Name or Weathering With You. I feel like it’s just the simplicity and natural and real or realistic the relationship is unlike the supernatural things that Your Name and Weathering With You does with their relationships. It’s like the problems and things that they have go through relates to the audience and is realistic.
I forgot about that for a sec ty for reminding me but ig you can say that the problems that Yakari Yukino and Takao Akizuki went through together didn’t have any supernatural things helping with the story or plot or relationship just them with real life world problems and with natural things happening to them but I hope one day Makoto Shinkai will make new anime movie or film where the people from The Garden of Words, Your Name, and Weathering With You they all see and meet each other and bond with each other and make relationships with each other since they are all in the same universe but it most likely won’t happen
Best movies I've watched 1. Grave of Fireflies 2. Wolf Children 3.Hotarubi no Mori e 4. Sakasama no Patema 5. I want to eat your pancreas Edit: Maquia and Mirai too
I recommend weathering with you, once you watch it. Trust me youl never regret your choise... Also watch Darling In The FRANXX. Its basically the best sci - fi romance ive ever watched! A silent voice. MUST WATCH! like really, this anime teaches us alot of things about life. Oresuki, this anime is basically a comedy - romance anime. Very Funny!
Children Who Chase Lost Voices / Hoshi o ou kodomo Into the Forest of Fireflies’ Light / Hotarubi no Mori e Mai Mai Miracle / Mai Mai Shinko to Sennen no Mahou Are three movies I would add to the list
I really, really love Hotarubi no Mori e. What's kinda funny is that the first anime I ever watched and manga I ever read was Natsume's Book of Friends and when I found out it was the same author I knew why I loved it so much lol.
If anyone was looking for live action movies that kinda similar to Your Name or there are some elements will reminding him about it, so these are my suggestions: 1- Mirage (Durante la tormenta). 2- Donnie Darko. 3- Being John Malkovich. 4- Interstellar. 5- Mulholland Dr. 6- Se Eu Fosse Você (If I Were You). 7- Freaky Friday. 8- Deep Impact.
If I may offer a few: "Toradora" is a good romance. The story may seem predictable but it executes it well. "Pet Girl of Sakurasou" is a touching series that focuses on friendships, talent, and a little bit of romance. There are lots of laugh out loud moments, too. I also think that Hosoda-san's "Summer Wars" and "The Boy and the Beast" have a more Western "flavor" to them which may make them good for those new to anime. "Your Lie in April" recently got me back into anime when I ran across it on Netflix. That series damn near broke me. The dub was very well done, too! "Anohana" is another emotional one that I loved, but it definitely has its faults. However, the feels I got from it left a lasting impression on me.
Sakurasou definitely went above and beyond my expectations and it featured a of real world troubles that one might experience in a coming of age type story
I've watched sakurasou no pet na kanojo, your lie in april, and anohana too! My favorite among the tree is your lie in april! Although i don't understand music but i really enjoyed it so much! BUT SAKURASOU IS ALSO MY FAV ;;_;; i cant really tell what's my favorite one tho... Sakurasou is so good for people who seek for laugh bcs hell it's so hilarious!
I also suggest Ore Monogatari: A cute romance story that has a beauty and the beast like comparison, but puts their own twist on it. Really cute anime.
I would recommend: Weathering with you Silent voice I want to eat your pancreas Bunny girl senpai(first the series, then the movie....watching the movie is ESSENTIAL!!!!(it ALMOST overtook your name as my fav movie))
@@sheltonblake276 Are you fucking kidding me? Good job of destroying the experience with that spolier of yours, I have no doubt that I will now have a less enjoyable time watching the anime since you just made it predictable for me. I hope you get banned from commenting/replying on youtube.
Its a little disappointing that "A Whisker's Away" is not to rated. I still recommend this one,its not only a girl turning into cat lol, Try watching in Netflix now if you see my comment
Yeah 😓 it's one of the best movie and hinode I must say he's so cute I just loved the way that muge didn't give up on hinode 😭❤ and at last he fell in love with her😤😭❤

Fun Phan in my opinion, koe no katachi is better. Your name didn't made me cry but koe no katachi did.
LaxusPlayz i watched koe no tadachi. I think I cried more watching koe no tadachi but I was more excited and my heart was racing watching Your name. Both movies are great though 😊

It broke mine.
I lost it when Taki wrote "I love you" instead of his name and when they both met again

Oh so it was "I love you"

But I agree with everything on the list, and everything recommended in the comments, all of them are amazing. I found "The Boy and the Beast" and "Plastic Memories" pretty good too.

Boy and Beast is movie, Plastic Memories is series. Definitely watch. Be prepared for feels.

I really recommend an anime call A silent voice or in japanese Koe no Katachi, very nice anime movie
ya but hardly the same feel. Hardly even earned a romance tag. Not that it was bad but if you go into it wanting romance you might be somewhat disappointed.
When part 2 will come
Well it's not supposed to be a romance.. not all of the suggestions up there were big romances
A Silent Voice is more than just a romance. I love it because it's about something even deeper within yourself.

Garden of Words is "my" favourite movie EVER. At the end of the day, it all comes down to relatability and that movie hit home. I think it's Shinkai's best work
Jazz Iron yea the animation is one of the best out there! sadly since the story isn't very catchy, it hasn't found the recognition it deserves :/

Blue Everytime I watch kimi no na wa, it feelsllike the first time. Clannadtoo. FUCK I FEEL LIKE CRYING

-Hyouka
half of it's fan-base focuses on its romance too much, but it definitely hold a spot in "A slice of life" if you understands the main character's stand point.
-Beyond the boundary . Beyond the boundary: I'll be here
The order for these are a little messy, first start with the TV show, then the "EP0", don't watch the "EP0" that first before the show. The "Beyond the boundary: I'll be here" has two parts, first part is a recap and a very important thing at the end of it, the second part is the real deal. It even somewhat portrays depression. This is a phrase from this movie that I must share, "Everyone paves thier own paths to happiness so I can't tell you what happiness is, but if you keep trying to reason with yourself instead of listening to your emotions, you'll never find happiness."

Monami Roy Chowdhury Agreed.
5 centimeters is really depressing though... in a bad way, wouldn't recommend even for a enemy
After watching your name, I instantly fall in love with anime films,
Today I watched 5 centimeters per second, it's so heart breaking film I could never imagined,
I regretted after watching the whole movie, Only the 1st episode was very satisfying, but the remaining 2 episodes was very disappointing.
I will recommend not to watch this movie.
that;'s the point of the movie though. It's a representation of reality and how it is often disappointing. I love the movie, but yes, it's depressing
Spoiler:
The protagonist feels empty by the end of the movie and it is clear why it is, however had he been less passive, he might had achieved happiness.

Your Lie In April is one of the best. I also recommend "Violet Evergarden."
All the three movies your talking about are in the same universe lol
I forgot about that for a sec ty for reminding me but ig you can say that the problems that Yakari Yukino and Takao Akizuki went through together didn’t have any supernatural things helping with the story or plot or relationship just them with real life world problems and with natural things happening to them but I hope one day Makoto Shinkai will make new anime movie or film where the people from The Garden of Words, Your Name, and Weathering With You they all see and meet each other and bond with each other and make relationships with each other since they are all in the same universe but it most likely won’t happen
Garden of words is just not it for me.. I was so shocked when I watched it !! Like it screams pedophilia to me.
Even if you think of it that way it’s still a great anime film or movie well for me

A silent voice. MUST WATCH! like really, this anime teaches us alot of things about life.
Oresuki, this anime is basically a comedy - romance anime. Very Funny!
Darling in the franxx maybe they don't understand that kind of animated series I'm pretty sure about that.. Although their ending is just little sad
yeah Darling in The FRANXX Is so good . zero two is so cuteeee.
I recommend "Colorful" 💖
That clannad afterstory dango theme song tho.
kali1625 the song in the backround is actually the nagisa theme
dango dango family

Exactly why you do this tho :'(
Bingobean do wjat
Children Who Chase Lost Voices / Hoshi o ou kodomo
Into the Forest of Fireflies’ Light / Hotarubi no Mori e
Mai Mai Miracle / Mai Mai Shinko to Sennen no Mahou
Are three movies I would add to the list
I really, really love Hotarubi no Mori e. What's kinda funny is that the first anime I ever watched and manga I ever read was Natsume's Book of Friends and when I found out it was the same author I knew why I loved it so much lol.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IVE SEEN IT twice and have a hole in my heart😭
If anyone was looking for live action movies that kinda similar to Your Name or there are some elements will reminding him about it, so these are my suggestions:
1- Mirage (Durante la tormenta).
2- Donnie Darko.
3- Being John Malkovich.
4- Interstellar.
5- Mulholland Dr.
6- Se Eu Fosse Você (If I Were You).
7- Freaky Friday.
8- Deep Impact.
I recommend "Children who chase lost voices from deep below" it made me cry a lot😭😭
Yes! That's a great movie

.u wont regret watching it. I Promise

Sakurasou no pet na kanojo is my fav!! As you can tell by my profile :D
Your Lie In April killed me emotionally.
do you know your name have almost break all record in the world.. on a short time the movie got 5 stars and they called it a masterpiece
Most saddest anime for me
Anohana-series
Your lie on april-series

@@sheltonblake276 Are you fucking kidding me? Good job of destroying the experience with that spolier of yours, I have no doubt that I will now have a less enjoyable time watching the anime since you just made it predictable for me. I hope you get banned from commenting/replying on youtube.
I personally recommend you 'Mirai', 'Colorful', and 'A Letter to Momo'
