One just opened by my house in Houston a while back, I tried the Reaper first time there and the flavor and spice is amazing! It’s ridiculously hot but it goes away fairly quickly because the heat is just in the dust so it’s not super oily and doesn’t stick to your tongue and mouth as much.
I don't like spicy food that much but that looks hellishly heavenly

Hey Lisa! If you're looking for places to try in California, if your ever in Orange County I suggest going to The White House! It's an excellent Italian restaurant. The owner holds a food drive every year and gives the rest of the food he has to people in need so nothing goes to waste :)

A cheaper alternative is Mona Lisa also in OC! Delicious Italian food as well with large portions and the staff are always so nice.

Delicious! Their spicy one is amazing! The tangy sauce and the pickles help the salt. Very salty if you get a very big one.
I have been there!! The food is absolutely delicious, I highly recommend going. I used to live in LA and we would go like every 2 weeks also, they have great fried pickles too!!

Lol actually a place I used to get food from with my boyfriend all the time! We'd also visit Blazin Hot Chicken too since it was the same restaurant menu wise essentially but a bit less salty and they had a really good grilled cheese option with a cut up tender mixed in with their sauce 😋

I’d like to see Lisa try Howlin’ Ray’s. I’ve never been myself (though I’d like to), but I have some friends who went, and verified that their hotter spice levels are pretty insane.
Absolutely agree. In addition, the chicken from Howlin' Ray's is significantly better than Dave's Hot Chicken. It's pretty much night and day, in my opinion after trying both.

As a Los Angeleno, I feel Dave's is overrated - but the food is pretty. Howlin Ray's is supposed to be the jam, though. I've only had Dave's and another restaurant in Nashville's Hot Chicken though.

One thing i would highly change about Dave’s hot chicken is adding more flavor. The only thing i taste with the chicken is just like a blan hot oil flavor and i’ve tried some real good Nashville hot chicken before and there was actual flavor

Howlin' rays is the way to go. Their flavor profile is a balance of sweet, heat, and savory. I just wish they would turn the bass down inside the restaurant. The constant vibrations really mess with how you feel after eating a medium chicken sando.

You should definitely try Howlin' Ray's in downtown LA (or Pasadena!). Much better than Dave's in the flavor department. The chicken is juicier, and the spices are balanced just right for that great flavor. If you want to burn your mouth, their Howlin (or Howlin+) heat level will knock your socks off for sure. I've tried it and it killed me!

This is the first video among all your foods where you ate something that I ate as well 😁. I had the reaper and extra hot, I kind of thought the breading was too thick but it was flavorful. I don't eat coleslaw a lot but I thought that Dave's had a particular taste. The tenders were super filling, I underestimated the power of two tenders when I first ordered. Lol. It was above average for me but it's definitely a good option for a place to eat near me.
I too tried Dave's recently after hearing about it. I agree that it does a decent job at making hot chicken but way too salty. Still can't compare to the original hot chicken spots from Nashville. I didn't care for their special sauce either. So it's a not worth eating it again for me.

You should try the far west meats sausages. I tried it for the first time today, and I gotta say they added some spice to it!! So if you haven't tried it Lisa, then I'd definitely recommend it!!😉
