27 year old hands vs 68 yet you still sound like one of the closest I’ve ever heard to Hendrix playing it’s actually insane and I love your channel keep doing what your doing. And Godbless you good sir
That is so freaking good. What a bloody good show Have you heard of the cat named Julijan Eric? Check him out boss man he really does some great Jimi Hendrix
Yeah, I was surprised to see Acoustic Sounds with a 30 minute infomercial on this video. I bought all of my SACD's (Super Audio) from them years ago but they are mainly vinyl experts. I have that Maui set too. Great stuff except all of the camera malfunctions during Jimi's sets.
This is brilliant, I can see your dedication to keeping up the Hendrix rhythmic , your hands could barely keep up with your mind but you really nailed . Awesome work mate.
It sounds so great Stan, congratulations my friend this took you a lot of time to learn it! AMAZING!!! Can you share the @sabbadius Maui Funky-Vibe settings you used here?
Thank you Nico. Of course I HAD to use Maui FV on this. Volume 9, Intensity 6, speed-not sure but it was about medium slow. I was using my speed pedal to dial it in.
@@millstap is so great the sound and tone you got from these entire lesson, the amp, booster, guitar and your fingers are important, you are a genious!!!
This is a wonderful piece of art written by a wonderful musician. It's been my favourite piece of Jimi ever since I started to listen to him a few years ago and now, getting a little better on guitar each week and month, my dream of having the ability to play this beautiful sound is getting closer to achieving. Your tutorial helped guide me and i'm very thankful for it 🙂 If you're ever wondering what to learn next, i suggest a tutorial for Little wing at Cafe Au Go Go would be very welcomed by the community as there's none. Thanks millstap, Viktor
It’s so amazing Jimi had so many different ways to play this song live on the Cry of Love tour. All were almost different songs within themselves. Mind blowing……
Have fun! It is a fun song to play. I show what Jimi did to give you ideas. Of course, Jimi played it differently every time because he was a genius, but we can certainly learn how to do that too.
@@millstap Too right man, amazing how he found his own path on the guitar. Great that your helping to pass it on to the young and old. Honestly so cool. Spirit of Jimi vibes. Keep On straight ahead man, respect!
Its a feat just to remember all this, Now i know why i started & stop trying to learn it a few years ago, I'll take another crack at it now but i think it might take some time. thanks Stan.
It's a feat for sure. I spent weeks on it. Once you get it memorized then it becomes a lot easier. To help memorize, on more complicated song, I write down the structure with clues of what is happening. I didn't have to do that with this one.
It is the middle. I rarely use the bridge. I was watching Woodstock this morning and it dawned on me that it was the old coily cable that allowed Jimi to get the sound he did out of the bridge pickup. He starts out Message to Love in the bridge position and I’m thinking, “there’s no way I can get that sound out of the bridge.” I just Googled high impedance coily cable to buy one and there are none to be found. Maybe I should use “capacitance” in the search. Maybe that Kingtone Strat switch would accomplish the same affect. I know someone used to make those cables.
Last year I was trying to process and learn this performance. I got the basic chord/song structure and solos down but not nearly all the fills and chord embellishments. Now I'm back at it and I found this - It's all here! Thanks alot man!
Milstap, this track has always, for a long time been close to my heart and listening to you now after so many years your playing has become so 'jimi - esque' , so great to hear, I hope you are happy with your playing because there are quite a bunch of us can hear how great you have become! Keep on diggin' the Blues!!! Thanks man!
Steven, sorry it took me so long to respond. Of course I love Jimi’s style because I was heavily influenced by it when I first started playing back in 1969. But, now that is all I play which isn’t very conducive to keeping up with different styles and tones. It keeps me satisfied and happy even though my neighbors probably wish I would move on, lol. I go through phases. I was in the SRV phase many years ago. I’ll probably die in the Jimi phase. I had to go back to learning Little Wing again because it had been so long since I played it. Thanks for the kind words of encouragement.
I like that neck so much I bought one exactly like it except with a rosewood fingerboard for my 1964 Strat. I just love the way the large headstock makes the strings play and sound better and the small frets are key too for the Jimi sound. I was shocked when I heard how much difference they make in the attack and intonation.
I just added everything under Gear: in the video description. 10-38 Round Core Curt Mangan Nickel Plated steels, great strings. The Maui Funky-Vibe and one preamp and one treble boost pedal.
Thanks. I like it so much I bought another one in rosewood to put on my 1964 Strat. I just love that big headstock and the way it makes the strings sound. I will retire the vintage neck for a while. I didn't want to have to get it refretted with the small frets for now. I like those too.

Always loved this track. So interesting how he goes to the C# minor (reminds me of the Bob Dylan move) but after an Am is so cool and unexpected. Jimi's rhythm is really second to none, and you hear it all over his albums. I mean the rhythm track to hey Joe is the best part of the song in my opinion, same with Jelly 292. The guys was an absolute force of nature. Great channel, great playing. Love what you are doing. What wah do you play? always curious.
I'm using the first boutique wah I ever bought way back in 2010 or maybe earlier. I bought a drop-in kit from Area 51 and put it in my old Cry Baby shell because I wanted true-bypass and didn't know I could wire my Cry Baby for true bypass. A few years ago, I broke the inductor on the board and Area 51 sent me a replacement which sounded better for some reason. Recently, when the wah pot got scratchy, I pulled out my old Cry Baby parts and decided to try the Allen Bradley pot that was in it (circa early '80's, long life pot). It sounded amazing and that is what I have now. I'm currently working on Earth Blues from People, Hell, & Angels and it never fails that I will work on a song for weeks and then take a little break from the song for a day or two and come back and hear something that I missed. Jimi was super ingenious when it came to using open string notes to make very quick licks possible. I would have never thought to do that. I played one lick wrong for weeks and then heard the magic open string note that I was missing, and voilà, the lick was easy to play and sounded right. The lick is on the fifth fret and I would have never thought to add an open B leading to a 5th fret C chord. He did it a lot.
@@michaelshearer3559 True bypass is almost a must. The wah-wah circuit is the best tone sucker of all pedals unless you have three 100 watt Marshall stacks, lol.
