I only just learned the importance of packing the soil last year. Couldn't figure out why some plants did well and others didn't. I was under the impression that the soil had to be loose🤔 when I first started. It made sense at the time because I was using hard garden soil. But with bagged soil you definitely need to pack it in. Great tip. Keep em coming. Not everyone knows all the tricks and tips.
Hey Chad, another tip is for any really small seeds instead of trying to put an ultra fine amount of seed mix on them, just use vermiculite or perlite. Both will prevent the surface from getting crusty or overly dry, but also put just enough pressure on the seed during germination for the tap root to dig down before popping up the cotyledons through to the light. I do this very thing with smaller seeds.
I am new to gardening and I have been doing it all wrong 😂. My seedlings are not growing. My first mistake is using potting soil. I will be using the seed starting mix and maybe buy a heating pad? Thanks so much for this video! Newbies, where you at? ❤🌱
Hey, Bro, Happy New Year to you and family...some pretty cool advice. Something I never thought about and have been there with the plugs... half of them being left in tray LOL...Thanks man good advice
Ok so I do plant a garden but always buy starter plants which adds up $$ Not sure I can start from seeds and get a good health plant. In your video you and other youtubers talk about grow lights and heating pads. Well what is the brand to buy ??? There are a ton out there and I'm sure some don't work and are a rip off. I really don't have a lot of money to sink into it either Thank you for any help
@brendaogle-em7if Next Tuesdays video is on this topic... I have some lights and mats down in the description or in the Amazon store, they work. But, my advice is to research ones that fit your budget. I would focus more on the heat mat as being very important over the lights.
Good tip! I did notice the difference in tightly packed cells and loosely packed cells recently. It's definitely something worth mentioning.
I’m an old gardener and never thought about packing the seed start mix. Thank you. Never too old to learn. 👍
Great tip ~ Thanks for sharing!👍🏽🌱
As always, thank you for helping the rest of us. I sure need it! Happy you live close to my growing area, too. La Porte.
@seaggpdoo Howdy neighbor, this cold is kicking my butt... but im very excited for Spring.

@BigWillDogg82intheSoil Great tip right there, everyone. Thanks for sharing, brother. 💯🤘
@BigWillDogg82intheSoil Yes, I agree.✅ I've also had greater success since I started topping my small seeds with perlite.
Good tip! I’m not new but still never thought about this one! Thanks!
@sharibc3597 That makes me happy. I've found it's the things that we take for granted that others probably haven't thought about.
Muy buen trabajo
@@yesidtac7863 Thank you my friend.

@rookiegardeningjournal I call gardening a journey for reason... it never stops, and the learning is continuous. Stick with it and have fun. 🤗🤗
Good tip. 👍🏻
@OSKG2023 Thanks man. 💯🤘

@JstFunning Happy New Years to you and yours also.
Hi. Thanks for this tip. I was wondering why my seedlings didn't have a good soil/root base and fall apart
@jenpat2227 It's the little things like that, that'll make the difference.
Yes I have no clue. What do you do if you don't have a heat mat?
@@Bluesage2024 I would get a heat mat, even a cheap one. You need something under the seeds to give them heat to help them germinate.
