I grew cowpeas up my okra "trees" and up the stakes I used for my tomato trellises last year and it worked fabulously. The only thing I would do differently is, only growing one pea vine per okra because they will weigh them down toward the end of the season.

Chad the winter here in the south is the best time to grow onion. Starting seed in August and September to plant out in October thru December will produce bigger onion for us in the deep south. Wish you all the luck on growing squash this year. I myself gave up on growing squash in the spring and now grow it in the fall to keep from having to fight with the vine borer.

    YEESSSSS!!!!
So excited for another seed haul. 🎉
We’re never done ordering seeds 😂💯
I’m wanting a more diverse bean year as well. I also want to learn more bean recipes.
I’m growing the Ayote green flesh squash as well! And it’s a curcubita moshata, which is supposed to be more vine borer resistant (kinda like Seminole pumpkins and butternuts; but vine borer killed this in my garden too 😅)
In our area, we need to start onions in September/October, and plant out the seedlings in November. They overwinter outside then start to quickly bulb up in Spring. I had a good harvest in April 2023. I’m in Cleveland, TX
    I love Baker Creek’s Advertising Videos 😂

I love growing peppers. I grow a few new varieties every year. I grow some just as an ingredient for certain dishes. I grow others just to pickle, and all the others get dehydrated and made into different spices. Peppers are amazing!

All the seeds! 😍 I am on a seed buying ban for this year now. I have too much and not enough room to grow everything. I'm focusing on peppers this year too but the sweet varieties. We recently ran out of our frozen peppers from the last season and I want more to freeze. Also will be trying my hand at corn for the first time!

I can’t even get my seeds started until sometime in February! I have to check my last frost date too. But we just had the same freeze y’all had. So last plant gone- sweetie tomato. I got some new and different seeds but didn’t buy a lot since I bought earlier and still have seed from last year. I can’t seem to grow a good watermelon, but I will continue to try! 😁

I've ordered twice since OCT from Baker's Creek, once from MIgardner & once from Pinetree!!! My garden space won't hold but about 8 packets of the $475... addict here without shame! Love your channel. PLEASE tell me how you cook all those eggplants. I only fry them. Thanks~ Sharon from North GA.

6:04 I grew these peppers last summer! Delicious and huge! Definitely on my list to grow this summer 😊 so I’m adding seeds to my baker creek cart… seed haul videos suck me in every time! I’m going to try onions again too. I’ve failed on them every year.. and garlic too..
Tour bean seeds.. so pretty😊 I love growing beans .. going to do 2 greenstalks with them this summer! Off to shop basils.. beans.. pumpkins maybe? I really should look thru my seed collection first…

As a fellow seed nerd, I have to say, I have so many seeds that I had a custom box for storage gifted to me and I’m busting out of that. 😂For my birthday I routinely receive seeds and dirt (bags of potting soil) from my brother and mom and on Christmas, usually some new garden gadgets or fertilizer. I’m probably the easiest one in my family to shop for (that’s what I tell myself) 😊
Year 2024 was the year of super hots for me. I’m in southeast Louisiana and they were super prolific. This year will be year of milder peppers for me 😅

SFMF . First time viewer and subscriber . I'm also concentrating on peppers this year . Got the tomato thing down pretty much . I sell starts in the spring , usually 3-4 thousand to the community . We have a large gardening contingency here in Phoebus , Va. Keep up the good work . Try blue spice basil . I grow it just for the fragrance

I had a pretty amazing pepper season last year.. here in my 5b/6a garden. I started them early.. late feb.. by late May they were lush and ready to plant out.. and then they took off! I started them in 1” cells and bumped them up to 2.5” and that’s where they stayed until plant out.

Chad here in the Houston area onions need to be planted in oct-nov so they have enough time in ground to grow and develop bulbs. Seeds need to be planted with enough time to be big enough (like the size of onion transplants you see at Home Depot, Lowes) by oct-nov. Onions need a the cool/cold temp and a long time to develop. They need alot of nitrogen in the beginning and then later when you see a slight swell of the bulb they need the soil to be pulled away from the bulb area coz they wont push the soil out of the way and grow a bulb themselves. Start adding phosphorus of potassium once the soil is removed to allow bulb growth. You may have to do this 2-3 times depending on how fast they form bulbs. As the days get longer and warmer it sends the message to the plant to produce bigger bulbs coz it has almost completed its first year life cycle. On year 2 the onions will flower and make seed pods. If this happens the first year cut it off so it will send all its energy into the bulb. If you allow some to produce seeds you wont have to buy any seeds again and they will grow better for you next time coz they have adapted to your backyard/area. I planted my Onion transplants in mid november and they are doing very well, even in this cold snap we are having here. Also, I have never been able to grow onions from seed either. I enjoy your videos. Its nice to watch/follow someone who lives in the same general area as me. 👍 Also, as one seed nerd to another, there is a winter squash called "Canada Crookneck" that is resistant to squash vine borer and disease resistant. Baker Creek has the seeds.

I think the main worry with growing superhots, is making sure you have a long enough season to ripen them. Start as early as possible, maybe grow them in large pots. I'm in zone 5b and late fall, I lose a lot of unripe superhots on the in-ground plants that didn't ripen in time.
When I lived in Thailand they eat a lot of winged beans - they eat them fresh on the side with noodle curries. Very crispy and fresh tasting, like eating raw green beans.

Have you ever tried tromboncino squash. The vines were huge, one row covering about 20'x20'. When the squash is little they're great in salad if they even make it to the house. I stored the big ones in the spare bathtub and they were good until Spring.

Lol, Chad , you're not done. I say that all the time then I get a text, email etc and down the rabbit hole I go. We love what we do. Seed nerds unite.
I love the seed companies you use, I also buy from lazy dog farm, the rusted garden . Another favorite for fruit tree's and berries is Stark Bros. Yeah, I got it bad...
Pepper's, you got this. We live in different climates ( Virginia) but they are a favorite yearly for me. Good soil, water, feed , Pepper's love heat and need full sun but they appreciate a bit of shade in the afternoon sun when it's blazing hot.
I totally get squash, we fight squash bugs here not borer. Those things are the devil. This year, I'm planting a late crop of summer squash. I'm trying to avoid the life cycle, so our squash will go in mid July and grow til frost instead of plant in May and be killed off in July.
I loved your seed haul , I'm expecting my 3rd baker's creek order tomorrow 😂

Let me tell you about the small melons that you bought I swear, even the squash grow them up a trellis and they actually do much better my melons and my watermelons and my winter squash. I have a pumpkin out there right now. I think it’s a winter squash really I need a harvest. It’s still doing good, but even the, throw up trailers I swear they do much better
I’m never successful with the zucchini, but I think I’m going to make one of those covered planter boxes so I can have some type of squash that the bugs don’t get to. I’m gonna try.

Are you in the south, because your onion seed is for the Deep South. If you are central or northern, you need a long day onion. You should put your zone in your description. You should watch IM Gardner video on starting onion seeds. It is helpful.
I like the Vermont Bean Company for the most variety of beans. Totally Tomatoes catalog for the most variety of tomatoes and peppers. I like Pinetree seed as they have seeds that are smaller quantity and price for the home gardeners. Territorial Seed has a nice variety as does Johnnys which is very reliable. I like Bakers Creek too.

Yup, the winged beans are weird bro. 🤣
I've had the same issues with funky colored carrots, they just don't grow. I'm also moving to much shorter maturing varieties because my north facing garden tends to be very slow anyways.
Basil tends to just bolt for me, I've had horrible luck with it. They say it's a companion plant for tomatoes, but it just bolts in the summer heat. Makes no sense.
