I was lucky enough to have one of these a good few years ago, and it was an amazing vehicle. Pootle about under the radar or take off like a scalded cat. Had a few people underestimate it. Was gutted when it was time to let it go.
Go back 30+ years, and I wanted an S8 then. With this _new_ model, I'd still take one over the other two German rivals equivalents. It's still a real _Q-car_ going under the radar 8-))...
Lovely car. I have owned Audi from the Audi 80 days, the coupe version. My next car, I bought Audi A4 1999 1/2 with five valve per cylinder, still drive it, very reliable car. Now also I own SQ5 the last version of super charged engine with a 21 inch wheel. Nice car with all the nice features. Here in the US, 2017 model year. Never stop surprise me with their creative mind. Good job with Audi group and kudos to our presenter:-) I am jealous!
Drivers do not care about blinding other drivers, period In the US drivers would pay to upgrade the lights to be more annoying and dangerous to other drivers just for for fun.

It's a gradual evolution. Unlike the Asian luxury car makers like Acura and Lexus and Infiniti. I like the understated Audi. Such a simple and classy car.
Love Audi and the VW group are making the right noises with their EV production. I would like to an Audi version of the EQS.... A full on tech - fest 600bhp EV. But build (like Merc) on a bespoke battery base.

I'm so glad that Audi continues to make a large v8 powered super saloon. It would have been nice to show a more dramatic change. Since Audi S8 came out. It's time to wait for the next gen R8.
I have always loved the S8 from its first inception but the exterior design of the last editions have not been that attractive especially with its enormous grille.
The problem with the A8 is it doesn’t matter how good it really is, one has to look REALLY hard to tell it apart from an A4. This is a problem when a car at its price point is supposed to make a statement with a glance.
That’s the point of a big fast Audi… not making a statement with a glance! If I was looking for a big limo, I wouldn’t consider a Bentley, a RR, S, 7…. I would go for this and fly under the radar all day
To be fair though, the new S-Class is a whole new generation inside and out while the new A8/S8 is just a facelift. It will be interesting to see what Audi does with the next gen A8/S8. But I'm guessing that won't be for a few years.
The new S-Class is also a massive downgrade in exterior appearance. The front-end is filled with cheap-looking plastics and the previously-stately Mercedes taillights have been replaced with taillights that appear to be near direct copies of a Mazda 3's. Hell, even the headlights look eerily-similar to those on much cheaper cars. I cannot believe they got the interior so right, the technology was so right, they had the exterior so right on the previous gen, and they proceeded to ruin it.
I remember driving down the A12 in Essex with the first S8 (ronin) style, and everyone was looking. I was the Audi A8 advocate for Nigel Grogan Audi, in Chelmsford.
If those lights are what I think they are, you FAILED to mention their welcome projector animations, which are considerably cool. So what if you're not a "lights guy," you still should have pointed that out
Great car and can feel comfortable doing some daily errands in it too when necessary. It’s probably my fault for feeling self conscious but i wouldn’t feel comfortable parking at Walmart in a Mercedes S580 but in the Audi would be fine
I do understand you but from my own experience, work through it because it isn't worth it being self conscious at that level. We are all consumers and we buy for the joy of maintaining our lives. Just be happy and proud where you are in life and enjoy it.
I park my old S8 at the supermarket all the time, most people don’t even notice. Although one guy in a very smelly and noisy diesel Nissan Cashcow did ask me why it said V10 on the front wing. Didn’t know what it meant. So not a petrol head then safe to say.
imo audis always had the best features woth decent interior. mercedes has the best LOOKING interiors but sometimes idk its too much. bmw has always been about performance rather then interiors but i like the new ones alot

@@nazhif1 wrong, the TT RS wasn‘t the first one. it was the BMW M4 GTS in 2015. I didn’t said mercedes was first, but I mentioned them because they where first in the upperclass segment, so before the A8 D5 even came to the market in november 2017
Beautiful car and a joy to drive. Test drove one, brilliant! Compared to the S class, it isn't as luxurious inside but the S always had little (but expensive) problems.

It’s almost the same setup of an rs6 or rs7. Turbos might be just slightly less and suspension tuning. They don’t want to put a RS on the executive sedan but they give u the RS power pretty much. It’s a boat is why. I had an A8L 4.0T that was basically an S setup for S6 or S7 at the time 4.0 twin turbos. Then the RS just had a turned up version of same 4.0T. In S8 u getting the RS setup the turned up version. It’s the flagship so it gets the best stuff dual flagship A8/S8
Hey Rory, Are the tailpipes legit or the actual exhausts are beneath the car like the SQ5? Kind of disappointed with the shape of the s8 compared to the a8. It's not very aggressive looking. I remember a generation or two ago the S8 really stood out (one with the v10 Gallardo engine).
Man I craved for a V10 in my life. I was ready to buy the V10 M6 but the unreliability of the engine coerced me to change my mind. Now I drive the current gen M5 Competition. The twin turbo 4.4l V8 is good but in terms of sheer excitement, nothing beats a screaming naturally aspirated V10. Heck, my YT profile is named after the best sounding car in the world, which too has a 9400 RPM naturally aspirated 4.8l Yamaha V10.
Once an old mechanic told me… “you wanna know how good a brand is… look to its past, still on the road.” You see a lot of Mercedes’es, a huge plenty of japanese cars… but you don’t see many Audis. See it in 200 thousand miles.

Hi I have the vorsprung S8 and traded my S8 Plus for it. Wanted the 4 wheel steering, comfort plus ride and raised height on entry. Love this car as I did the S8 plus. Now have S8 PHS registration for sale at £1950
The fourth Audi rings is not glossy as it has night vision camera in there. Now I don’t know if Audi could have made the surrounding area around the camera glossy as well but this is how it is. In terms of the real OLED tail lights if was available as an option when D5 A8 launched. This facelift however has a newer version of that lights digital OLED as compared to regular OLED.
I own a e92 m3 & i love it,but i'm afraid petrol & particularly v8 combustion engines are on borrowed time now, due to the increasing momentum of electric cars.
Eh I don't know why this car exists. I think it's for politicians and diplomats who find the Merc equivalents boring. But love your content always. Bring back the TT Audi

They should’ve called it a FACELIFT because it looks exactly like the previous generation
it is indeed a facelift. A new model would have been the D6. This is the D5.5. And Audi didn`t say otherwise.

The predictive suspension has some elements from Bosch suspension where just the wheels absorb the shocks with no movements on body ?
I may be wrong but I believe the S Class Coupe also uses OLED rear light technology and has done for a few years.

TT RS had it first. Not sure if the production 2016 M4 GTS got OLEDs or if they just look like the OLED concept
