Although the new S Class looks great on video I had the opportunity to see one in person in a showroom this week and although I currently own an S560, this new S class is a big step up. It’s stunningly beautiful in person. The interior just exudes luxury. My only concern are the controls. The more we move forward with less buttons, the more I feel we need to read the controls, hence a big road distraction. I can’t help wonder if driving at 100 mph and searching for a seat massage option is wise. I feel the same about the new EQS controls.
I would add that if you want to enjoy more serene quiet at lower speeds then the S580 plugin might do the trick and you might also have a better answer to others who blame climate change on your car alone. Mercedes must also find more "younger" buyers who have grown up with smartphones (the iphone is 15yrs old now) where buttons are old-man tech. Also remember that a vast number of the S-Class are chauffeur driven (I'd say all the LWB and every Maybach) so what the front driver has to get used to, is irrelevant. Its not like you're dropping the S-class into your mates backstreet garage for servicing and if you can afford the S-Class, you can afford the service cost (post warranty) so button failures are the mechanics problem.
He actually strained his neck looking out of the window wondering if he was about to scratch the alloys. There I was wondering what was the point of that 3D camera system he had used a little earlier. Haha. Cool stuff though.

I suspect more 7-Series buyers drive their own car. Always had a soft spot for the 750i with its V12. Good enough to be an Rolls Royce. Ironically the BMW7 probably hides your expression of wealth than the S-Class. Both the S600 and the 750i will be collectors cars just for the engine and suspension alone. I just dont think many self made wealth sees driving these as looking like their old wall st banker car. It seems weird that anyone would buy a diesel S class or 7-series yet they were the best sellers. The next LWB EQS will be the new pinnacle of both Mercedes tech and its lavish attention instead of the S-class. BMW are further behind by the V12 is gone and so will the V8 soon.
Honestly, didn’t mind when the E-class design was updated because at least the lineup looked a bit different again. Being touchscreen isn't what makes using your mobile illegal. Rory, you are killing it, you are an excellent presenter
The government: don’t use your technology while driving
Tesla and Merc: you can only control your car with a massive iPad 😂
Great reporting Rory! The editing here was perfect
i was waiting for Rory's review, that's the best one!
You are great Bro..your reviews are top and i cant wait the next review. Now am at cross road i don't know which car to buy. They are all great, " sensational " the command of English language is superb, the eloquence its perfect. You can come up with a school to train people how to review cars ..food for thought.
I wish they have modernized 1980s S class interior in this new1
Fantastic review! Couldn't help but notice one *GLARING* issue with the centre display. Was that just how it looked on camera or is it much less reflective from the drivers POV?
It’s not that reflective.
Was waiting like forever for this review
This guy looks like Kylian Mbape of PSG football club. nice review bro we like it.
Optional door handles😂

Excellent review Rory. You are the best!
