For better or for worse, they are very well known but it looks like other fanbases don't want Snyder anywhere near their franchise purely because of the way his fans are. So this begs the question, Has Zack Snyder’s “Cult” Hurt Snyder’s Chances Of Making More Movies?

I honestly wouldn’t wish the Snyder fandom on anyone.
I would hate for Godzilla fans to have to constantly hear about how Snyder is the only director that understands Godzilla and about how Godzilla is only good when when being made by Snyder.

I feel really bad for Zack Snyder because he seems like a really down to earth and nice guy. I myself am a big Snyder fan but I think even if you’re not a Snyder fan you can admit that he doesn’t deserve losing opportunities just because a small amount of his fans are toxic. They’re not even that bad in relation to Spider-Man fans. They are fucking nuts.

Yeah the fanbase is toxic but Snyder himself is no better. I would'nt want him touching any series I love not just superhero movies, his movies lack substance and his always serious tone results in mopey charachters who rarely ever feel alive. Not only that he has little respect for a series, his insistance on deconstruction will only piss godzillia fans off and draw in his equally toxic fanbase who will make it their life's mission to destroy anyone who does'nt worship the ground Snyder walks on.
Yeah I would say the loud portion of the Snyder fandom has a negative reputation outside of DC and WB. I know this is purely anecdotal, but for example, I’m a massive halo fan and recently a popular halo UA-camr asked his community “would you be interested in Zack Snyder directing a halo film or tv show?” ( this was after Zack Snyder said he would love to direct a halo movie) And the vast majority of people said they wouldn’t want the cultist infiltrating into our fanbase.
I of course don’t think all Snyder fans are bad, but the big, loud accounts on Twitter are extremely toxic and leave a negative impression on the fandom
Strongly agreed. I’m a huge, huge fan of Halo, and I love most of Snyder’s movies. But I don’t think he’d do a great Halo movie. Unless, he only works on the visual effects and only else like Peter Jackson or George Miller directs it
Seems like as far as Netflix is concerned they’re banking on the Snyder die hard fans. Let’s not forget that when army of the dead came out a lot of Snyder fans tried to push it to win an award at the Oscar’s because they couldn’t get the Snyder cut a full award due to it being a directors cut. Now that award doesn’t exist anymore because the Oscar’s don’t want to deal with fanbases like the Snyder fans.
I think Netflix saw that however and figured Snyder has a fan base so solidified that they can just let him make anything and his fan base will eat it up.
That’s to say not all of Snyder fans are toxic but they’re so vocal that companies outside of Netflix probably just don’t want to deal with it.
I've met more toxic ones than levelheaded ones.

I completely agree on this topic. The Snyder Cult has developed a notorious reputation. While it’s great to have passionate fans, negativity to this extent is really off-putting. Their aggressive behavior towards anyone who doesn’t share their views or dares to criticize Zack Snyder’s work creates a toxic environment. I do remember when they would review bomb movies from warner bros in order to try to get their way for a continuation for the snyder cut. Even on twitter they are terrible and even want the new DCU to fail wanting to boycott anything James Gunn is doing just because it's not THEIR version of DC. Behavior like that makes me think they were never DC fans but just like a specific version of the DC characters. This narrow focus often leads to a lot of gatekeeping, where only Snyder’s interpretation of the characters is deemed acceptable. This approach alienates fans who appreciate the diverse range of interpretations that DC has offered over the years, from the classic comics to various TV shows and films.
I don't blame any other fanbase to not want to be involved with anything Snyder does if his fanbase has this kind of baggage you have to deal with.
This kind of hostile fanbase makes it difficult for studios and creators to want to engage with or cater to them. No one wants to be subjected to constant harassment or vitriol, whether it’s actors, directors, or even other fans. This toxicity not only tarnishes the reputation of the fanbase but also potentially deters talent from wanting to be involved in any projects associated with Snyder’s work. I kind of liked Snyder work, but every time I watch his films now it just reminds me of how toxic the snyder cult can be.
Constructive criticism and healthy debate are essential for any fandom, but the Snyder Cult often crosses the line into bullying and harassment. I won't put all of the snyder fans in this category as that's a blind and ignorant way of thinking. The DC fanbase can finally start rebuilding and the snydercult can move on to rebel-moon or something. It’s important to remember that a more inclusive and respectful approach benefits everyone, leading to better fan experiences and more opportunities for creative growth.
My ONLY complaint against this take is that I cannot say it better. I 100% agree with your take.

On the basis of how Snyder does his movies nowdays, he’s probably having a writing credit and I feel like he’d make some poorly written humans which as we’ve seen is already an issue in monster movies.
The genuine benefit I can think of with having Snyder would be he might introduce the aliens from the original Godzilla movies.

I know he’s doing Twilight of the Gods. Curious about that. I love mythologies. I’m surprised nobody has tried to kick off a Greek mythology thing since Wrath of the Titans. Maybe the poor showing is the exact reason why.
But I know less about Norse stuff so I’m intrigued. I’d love to see Snyder do a live action “ Clash of the titans “ movie or something in that genre.
His Norse show has me somewhat intrigued, since I’ve got some Scandinavian heritage(even though I’m technically Jewish-German)

That and those who would go out of their way to bash Snyder for an unrelated reason seem to do it because they know it'll get engagement, and then they, as a result, can play victim. I think the reason you don't that reaction from other fanbases from other directors is because Snyder is seemingly a polarizing figure, where some love and defend his work, while others make their dislike of him feel personal.

I'm not a hardcore fan of monsterverse, so it doesn't matter much to me whether or not Snyder directs such a movie. I'd much rather Snyder directed a hard R-rated Elektra movie or R-rated Marvel Comics' Ultimates universe Captain America movie even though I doubt Disney would ever allow that of either movie, especially the latter.
The problem was both cults: Snyder and Anti.

To not only Jar-Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best, Rose actores Kelly Tran, but also Anakin Skywalker actor Jake Lloyd. Who was ony 8 f^vking years old at the time -_- absolutely disgusting people man.
I also remember the time when Bayonetta toxic fans, sent death threats to the creator of Bayonetta because Bayonetta 2 was going to be a Wii U exclusive. Funny thing about that is, there would never have been a Bayonetta 2 and 3 if Nintendo didn’t buy the IP.
Toxic anime fans are in a whole nother can of worms of their own. They’re some Bleach fans who aren’t happy with TBYW arch and sending death threats. Even though it’s highly praised and loved by many. Although people are saying it’s people outside the fandom who just want to see Bleach fail. Because apparently they don’t have anything better to do with their sad, pathetic lives.

I've never disagreed that the Snyder cult exists, but to me, the cultist part of the fandom has always been the ones who use aggression to get their point across. Take James Gunn, for example. I am outraged that he fired Henry Cavill, and I always will be. I don't even have any hope for his vision of the DCU, and so I'll always keep fighting for the Smyderverse to be restored. However, that doesn't mean im gonna badger him and people who support him with threats to them or their families. I wish none of them harm.
But I've no doubt because of his and WBD's decisions, they've had to endure that, which is a shame because I think James Gunn is a great filmmaker. I also thought review bombing Godzilla VS Kong was incredibly immature because that was a great movie, even with its story issues. I'll always share my thoughts about James Gunn and WBD assertively, but not extremely aggressively. I'll keep fighting for the Snyderverse till the end, but I'll never condone the toxic Snyder fans, as they make the fight harder for us and Zack than they do for WBD. Also, I think Zack would be a great director for the Godzilla X Kong sequel.

Personally, no. I think those toxic fans create so much noise on the internet that they basically saved his career since justice leage basically almost ended his career and he even had to resort on making a short movie to save his career, Army of The Dead and Rebel Moon wouldn't get so much attention or even greenlit by netflix if it weren't for them.

What I want is a successful DC universe, and I don't think a toxic fan base is helping that. I'm a Superman and Batman fan. So even though I liked Man of Steel and Zach Snyder's Justice League, I looking forward to the new DCU. I hope it's great. The same situation has occurred within the Scream Fandom. Melissa Barrea was removed from Scream 7 due to political comments on Social Media and Neve Campbell (the face of the franchise) was brought in to save the movie and get the franchise back on track. So now Melissa fans are attacking Neve fans when they don't agree with them. The same is happening with DC. It's getting ridiculous. I'm gonna see what the DCU brings and I'm gonna see and own Scream 7 on DVD. No toxic Fandom is going to tell me otherwise. I will support who I wanna support.
I wouldn't call myself a "Snyder cultist". Because even when he makes something I enjoy, I don't just love it blindly. I can still point out issues that bugged me. And I was initially one of those naysayers who claimed the Snyder Cut of _JL_ was a fan-made pipe dream (until the joke was on me). But much like a lot of people, I was interested in seeing where he was taking the DCEU before WB basically scrapped it all.

The resentment towards the fanbase might be because of the audience that opposed to the release of the SnyderCut, which alongside with the extra 30 minutes that were cut from the theatrical cut of Batman vs Superman, ended up delivering one of the best superhero trilogies of all time.
Do think a solo movie might be about right in the case of other franchises, such as the MonsterVerse, Transformers, Marvel, etc., since he’s an experienced CBM director and would likely deliver once again if given the opportunity for another go at it. Time will tell.
Zack Snyder isn’t the problem he’s just a guy making movies(aka doing his job). Zack isn’t telling people 2 bash other movies or attack others 4 not liking his movies or having a different view of perspective. This type of fandom exist everywhere not just Snyder , MCU, DC, etc.
I only care about movies, not about nonsense fanbase gossip.

I think the real question is, who created the Snyder fandom. Despite already seeing most of his films, I didn't really know who Zack Snyder was until the Release the Snyder Cut campaign. Seriously, he was just another name at the beginning and the end of a film, for me. I have lived a backpackers life, so I didn't see all the hashtags to fire him after MOS or BVS at the time. All the haters out there, the Justice League debacle, and what WB did to him personally created his fandom, which I'm happy to be a part of it. I don't condone toxic behaviour from fans, but the lack of reporting on the hate and abuse thrown at ZS, his family, and us fans is disturbing, and is way worse than anything I have seen from any so called 'toxic' Snyder fans. You didn't like MOS, get over it and move on, it has been 11 years! The 'antis' complain his about his DC films as if they are forced to watch them every day strapped to a chair with eye clamps on. I mean how often do you watch a film you didn't like? It's not normal to hate on something this long, but it is normal for fans of something to ask for more of said thing. I'm not saying two wrongs make a right, but were people hashtagging to have ZS fired during the DCEU? Yes. Do people reviewb*mb his films? Yes. Where are all the 'news' articles on that. I have seen some pretty vile comments. Reviews? Sure, while not all of the six Snyderverse DCEU films got the best reviews, they still made good money, even if not up to WB's over inflated expectations. If anything WB should be happy with a fandom one of their directors created for their product. It's not the fans fault they didn't capitalise on it. WB were given a second chance at it too. Also, I think it's pretty ridiculous for a few Monsterverse fans to think fans of ZS, his films in general or his DCEU Snyderverse films are fans of his films only. It's like those 'articles' out there where they take one idiotic commet or tweet from one Snyderverse fan and tarnish the whole fandom with it.
I dunno, and i don't want snyder on monster-verse either, the tone have changed too much from Gareth Edwards' Godzilla, i say let it stay lighter instead of putting the blame to snyder when it goes dark again.

Zack is super talented. My favorite director . I hope he gets Chris Terrio back working with him. He gets bashed for being a bad writer. I don’t think that’s the worst thing. Directors hire writers for a reason. He doesn’t have to be good or great at it.
Rebel Moon was a monumental missed opportunity to me. His visuals are so amazing ( at least to me) .
This is a genre that was really wide open for the taking. It’s not too late though and I DO believe the director cuts may be very different. I hope so.
I also understand the business of the double dipping they are doing but as a selfish fan I hope that stops if this universe of movies is allowed to continue. Quality over quantity.

The toxic behavior is exhibited in every fandom. Star Wars is just as bad, but there is a level of extremism with the Snyder cultists. Even people that seem reasonable become belligerent idiots when you don't agree with their views on Snyder. And I've been saying this for a long time, Zack Snyder is a lovely man and he would never push away any fan, and he should not be the one to tell grown adults how to behave. But during the review bomb, I felt his silence only empowered his toxic fans. And I know he cares because he went out of his way to support Blue Beetle, said that he's friends with Gunn, but the toxic fans will spin this as him being forced or being political, which is insane.

More context about the "we haven't forgotten" crowd and the hashtagging under monsterverse posts, Adam wingard said disparaging incendiary things about Zack as it was much more fashionable to do in the not too distant past. So it was not only attacking the mother distribution company it was also a message to a director that was disrespecting another beloved director for (seemingly) no reason at all. I don't remember the specifics bc frankly there's so many ppl that talk shit about Zack or us it's hard to keep track but I do remember the ppl(often)

Ok, but when we’re just talking about the movie itself, I think I agree that Snyder could be an interesting choice for a Godzilla movie, goodness knows he can go nuts with the action scenes and unlike with someone like Superman, he wouldn’t need to worry about people going “Godzilla wouldn’t do that” I mean from what I can tell (please keep in mind I haven’t seen any Godzilla movies, I’ve probably at best got a surface level understanding of this so I wouldn’t be surprised if I get something wrong here) Godzilla doesn’t seem to care much about collateral damage, sure nowadays he’s more of a good guy, or at least along the lines of one, but even in the new Godzilla X Kong movie, he’s still wrecking whatever cities he’s in like tackling monsters through buildings, more versions of him seem to protect the world than before but keeping casualties and damage to a minimum doesn’t seem to be his priority like characters like Superman so Snyder could just go nuts with whatever he’d want Godzilla to do

I'm on the fence personally. You do have a point but I've also seen people just act all "Anti-Snyder" towards people who like his work but aren't so toxic or defensive about it. Even when I mentioned how much I like BvS despite its valid issues in one area, some folks tended to act like I was defending garbage and being okay with letting people like Snyder cook without understanding what made their heroes great and I personally disagree with some of that.

I think it was a good time to be a Snyder fan. I have just finished primary school (UK school) in 2016 (I was11 to 13 years old at the time). I have saw Man of Steel on DVD for the first time. I didn't see it on theatres in 2013. I liked it. I didn't know how Superman should act so I just liked it for what it was. I think Henry Cavill done a great job as Superman. I was mostly a Marvel movie fan (Not anymore since some of the projects they have made have disappointed me, coming back to the projects that intrigue me. but that is a topic for another day). I saw BvS and I liked the film. At this time, I did not know who Zack Snyder was (didn't know what he looked like or anything). I just liked the movie. I did not know how a proper Batman or Superman should have acted, so I just took it for granted. I thought Batman has acted like that in the comics. I think Ben Afleck done a great job as Batman. I was not on a lot of social media, so I didn't know what the overall reception for the film was. I saw Justice League and I still liked it. I was young at the time. It wasn't until I saw that Zack Snyder's daughter has passed away during Justice League that I was confused. I saw the first trailer for ZSJL and saw that it looked great. It was my birthday near the time ZSJL came out, so I waited and I loved it. I still think it is the best DC Snyder-Verse movie. (My favourite DC movie is between The Batman and The Dark Knight)
Now, I feel like that time has passed. it is time for something new and different. I just don't know why Zack Snyder's "cult"/fanbase has not moved on. I think it has something to do with Suicide prevention. At the time of ZSJL, there was a Suicide prevention charity going around and they have raised a lot of money. I think they want another Justice League film, so they can support that charity. Another reason I think they have not moved on from the Snyder-verse is because they might think that Snyder's way of story telling (deep thinking, stuff not always shown on screen character development for example) and that way is superior than any other way. The Monster Verse fans do not want this.
I have not seen any Rebel Moon movie by Snyder though. I also don't intend to. I don't want Netflix.

Every 18 months someone new would come in. We were just getting whiplash. Every new person was like, ‘We’re going to go bigger!'”
“I remember at one point the person running Warner Bros. at the time had this release that pitched the next 20 movies over the next 10 years. But none of them had been written yet!” Goyer continued in amazement. “It was crazy how much architecture was being built on air… This is not how you build a house.”
Goyer worked closely with Christopher Nolan on the “Dark Knight” trilogy and the two conceived of a Superman movie that would become Zack Snyder’s 2013 tentpole “Man of Steel.” Goyer wrote the film. I think there's a lot of context missing, OurMovieNews. You claim Snyder fans attacked you once you started entertaining the DCU.
It isn't just that the DCU is not the DCEU. A lot of it has to do with the studio itself and the man, James Gunn.
I mean, look. If the DCU was headed up by Christopher Nolan then I doubt you'd be hearing a lot of opposition. But this is Gunn we're talking about.
Forget who pedo Gunn is as a person for the moment, look at his work. He's creating his own DCU but refuses to let go of what he's already done in the DCEU. So, his universe will incorporate fragments of the DCEU while eliminating everything else.
Why not just keep the DCEU then? This is a VALID argument that Gunn KNOWS only further divides the fanbase. The studio has done it and Gunn continues it. There's no toxicity here. It's a legitimate argument. You want toxicity? Look no further than the studio and Gunn.
Their leadership has failed all fans by dividing them. Now Warner Bros is on the verge of being sold. Other studios see them for what they are. It's not pretty. -OG

Snyder fans being angry at me and attacking me for looking forward to what is actually happening rather than dwelling on something that isn't happening, isn't fair. Gunn didn't get rid of Snyder or the SnyderVerse. WB did in 2017. He just rebooted a dying twisted and confusing universe. There is no validity to Snyder fans attacking me for being excited for the DCU. I didn't betray Zack. I'm a DC fan. I'm interested in DC. I don't have a loyalty to one director over another.

On another thread, someone thought that the animated Justice League War movie was the same story as Zack Snyder's Justice League. I casually explained the difference.
Suddenly I'm a Snyder cultist. I'm tired of the label. I do have a life outside of DC. I'm also a long time Godzilla fan since childhood. In fact, I think it's ludicrous for some to believe the monsterverse will be invaded by Snyderverse fans.
Chances are high that many are already Godzilla fans and have been. Those comments from some of those Godzilla fans are very low brow to me. It's like they think Snyder fans are in a single box and don't go anywhere or can even think outside that box.

I’m a snyder fan but I still watched the monster verse movies. I think the hate for Snyder’s fandom is the nonsense toxic fandom articles put out by the news outlets that have always made the toxic side of a dudes fandom at the forefront not pointing out the non toxic side or the other toxic fandoms strictly focusing on Snyder’s. It’s funny how gunns toxics fans never get brought up in any news articles. The monster verse fans are just repeating what they heard from the news stories they read
Like I said, it's easier to target Snyder fans than Snyder haters as Snyder haters come from multiple fandoms.
Whenever I advocate for Snyder I also advocate for an environment and an outcome where full freedom can be expressed. I also believe that his movies can sell if marketed properly and if targeted at the proper demographic without the need for a watered-down studio cut. There are plenty of directors who are making R-rated franchise films that do extremely well at the box office but for whatever reason, unlike those other directors, Snyder is thought of as "risky" where even Netflix won't just release his Rebel Moon films as they were intended without a watered down version several months ahead of his real version to cushion its landing.
Even many Snyder fans have adopted the narrative that what Netflix did with their cut of Rebel Moon was not only an acceptable compromise but an ideal situation. It is as though they agree that the Studios would not be able to sell their own work as is, that is the implication that they might not even be aware they are sending. Now imagine Snyder being put back into a legacy studio setting on a franchise with wide audience appeal and in the middle of an ongoing continuity that already has set rules and expectations. Not only do I not think that the Studio would want that, Snyder would not want that and I would not want that. If you want to hire someone for Godzilla, they best hire another director whose name everyone will never know or forget and whose sole aim is to further the studio's agenda. Snyder can do a lot more than make a "dark", "destructive" movie for some franchise whose movies have been so empty that almost anyone with a single ambitious bone in their body could turn the franchise upside down if they got their hands on it, nevertheless Snyder.
In regards to the fandom, there is so much passion but now that the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign is over there is not enough unity and the goal is not specific enough. As I mentioned before with the Rebel Moon situation, some people think what Netflix did was a stroke of genius and was the ideal situation, and others think that it was unnecessary or even harmful. What is going to happen is that his actual vision is going to sell less just by virtue of being an "alternative" cut and no amount of marketing is going to be able to remove that stigma. The die-hards will watch the movie and maybe get their friends to watch it but it won't get the amount of eyes on it as it deserves.
I am aware of the financial situation too, so I am not speaking out of ignorance. There was one budget used for both two movies and all 4 cuts. So any movie one makes pays back the whole budget. At this point, we have to hope on the good graces of Netflix that they honor their deal to continue to allow him to make his director's cut even if they get a fraction of the eyes on them as the studio cut. In addition to that, I think the studio cuts are hurting Zack Snyder's reputation amongst people who are coming into it with no prior knowledge about any of the behind-the-scenes news. I already have at least 3 friends who have been inducted into the anti-Zack Snyder camp because they watched Rebel Moon Part 1, they didn't like it, they probably went online to see if anyone else felt the same way and only heard Snyder fans apologizing for it and telling them why they are wrong and Snyder haters who will say everything he makes is bad no matter what. They are naturally going to feel validated by the person who appears to share their beliefs. This is another reason why I don't think that Zack should put his stamp on anything that isn't his true vision. I am not saying that anyone is lying about whether those studio cuts were good but the desire to defend Zack is strong.
I blame a lot of this on the studios because they started this. If they just supported and stood by him when there was a little concern then this negative feedback loop would have never been created. Anyway, I appreciate the nuanced video.

Literally EVERY fandom has some level of toxicity within them, look at Star Wars and the sequel trilogy, that's a video essay in it of itself. It's really a classic case where it's a vocal minority who end up taking things too far. As a DCEU and Synder fan I'd love for him to comeback to finish JL 2 & 3 as well as to have the Ayer cut released. However, I'm not going out of my way to review bomb movies that have nothing to do with DC or to heckle studio executives online. That's just silly and has nothing to do with anything. Nevertheless, I feel like this nuance understanding needs to be made clear. A small group of ppl shouldn't automatically label an ENTIRE diverse fandom as toxic, especially when said fandom raised over a million dollars in suicide prevention/awareness.
