Kenmore Elite dryer CE error fix!

  • Took me many hours to figure out why I was getting this CE error with my Kenmore Elite dryer. Finally figured out what it was. Manufacturers took me on wild chase with the thermal fuse, and thermal switch. This is definitely not the fix nor is it as simple as cleaning out the lint filter. The part I replaced cost $10 and took 20 minutes to install (taking back panel off took most of the time). The fix was replacing the thermal sensor, Part number: 134711200.

This was very helpful. Thank you for sharing your experience. That darn CE error drove me nuts. When I got the Thermistor as you suggested, it works!

I had the exact same issue and after I bought the sensor and cleaned the dryer thoroughly, everything worked. Thanks alot man! Only 25ish dollars and a part from Amazon and the dryer works again. Do get the sensor he says, because I got the sensor number mine had and it wasn't it.

The first thing you should do, If you use fabric softener sheets, is wash (not just wipe out) the lint screen. The chemicals build up in the nylon screen and block air flow thereby causing a CE error.

Thanks for the video. Can this part be replaced without taking the entire front off? Any tips on how to replace it?

Yes, if you search google for the model number (found on inside door of dryer) add "control panel" to the search term, you'll find one on sears parts direct or anything else like ebay and everything.

Hi, sorry if this is too late but yes it fixed the CE error. I did do one other thing to keep it running a bit longer. Kind of unconventional and probably "dangerous". I moved the sensor that was going to the outlet and fixed it to the heating coil.

    • @tman52100

Yes and no. The sensors and the feedback to the computer where definitely the issue. I'm not sure if I'd recommend this now.

CE error check exhaust, clear exhaust. I would check the lint trap by pulling it out and running water through it. If the water does not run through it freely, the lint trap will need to be scrubbed clean yo allow airflow.
Ive found this to be a common issue with these dryers(made by frigidaire)

@@noeturrubiates1068 yeah i got mine from my boss who tried screwing me with it a couple years ago, the lint trap is VERY odd compared to the older one's i'm use too because i noticed on mine it builds up... like a clogging on the top part of it. never had older one's do that. but i had to wash the trap really good and now it damn near looks like new. but i'll see if this is the issue for my CE error as it's been bugging me and my GF the last year or so. i clean the trap off after every use but thought the top part was more of a stain til i saw you mention that with the water, it did not go through... except a little at the bottom lol. but testing it now and i'll try to reply back in the next week or so and see if this was the issue as my thermo sensor in this vid is the exact same but it reads about 56-58 kohms in 68-70F room temp. but hopefully that's all it is since prices for these parts have pretty much doubled in the last couple years around when i got it...

well, so far, since my last post which was 9 days ago, seems to have fixed it, even cleaning and blew out a bunch of area's since there was lint chunks in the vented holes area of the lint trap, eventually i'll have to take the back off and give it a really good cleaning and blow it out to get all the crap out of it, but after i did a few things and even cleaned the sensor since i took it out to check it, gave it 2 dry/no cloths runs, then my GF did 3 or more runs with cloths and it only happened once. normally it'll do the CE error 1-5 times on the first cloths run. didn't think it wasn't cleaned or taken care of but after working for my boss for over 2 years... idk how he has a business...
but thank you @noe for mentioning this as it did for the most part fix it.

Please take that video down. You did not do a good job. You never showed where you took that final sensor from, and you used a blow dryer on one sensor and a fan on the other. Much room fok r improvement

      Lmfao 🤣, u
You clearly don't understand what I'm trying to do here, ie, trying to make it work. Too many sensors on this new crap just ends up making everything "break" because the computer thinks something is wrong. Get your glasses straight bro.
