Overnight ferry to Lerwick in Shetland with Northlink Ferries sometime? It takes 12 hours if direct or 14 hours if going via Orkney. Has a very rough reputation with heavy seas! Nice vessels though

Good to see you both. You look so settled. That you mentioned that Amtrak has worst food then prison, well phoenix prison is definitely worse. Mouldy bread, baloney and rotten orange.
I thought at least prison food had to be sanitary and fit for human consumption...

Honestly, got to agree with the Amtrak food. I can understand not having a lot of room for better quality food in the cafe car, but that doesn't mean everything has to taste micromade, either. It's why I generally waited until I was at Penn Station in NYC or Union Station in Washington to get something.
Sure you don't want to eat food that is apparently worse than prison food? (I can't say whether this is true or not, as I have never been to America - and I have not, and do not, ever intend on going to prison!)

Do you think you could review the Cambrian coast line? (Birmingham International - Pwllheli) absolutely beautiful 5 hour journey I would really recommend
Very interesting. I am not surprised you found the 'What is the most user friendly operator?' almost impossible to answer. If I were asked, 'Which country has the most user friendly public transport?', that would be easy. Switzerland! All public transport interconnects beautifully. Tourists should always buy a 'Swiss Travel Pass' valid on all public transport except lines which purely go up mountains. Staying with the Swiss I agree with you about 'Flirts'. But I would add that their double-deck equivalents called 'Kisses' (I am not joking) are also extremely good. Austrian Railways OBB (whom you rightly admire) and has no Flirts have just ordered 86 Kiss trains.
Yes I lived in the French speaking areaof Switzerland for 8 years and the integration is brilliant. I recall travelling to Lausanne by rail and trains had displays showing connecting train AND bus services.its like they cooperate rather than compete

On a side note my friend of a decade randomly independently found out we both watch your videos and were rather happy about that, for me you are a relaxing way to wind down from a day (although I’ve run out of old videos, might be time for some reruns 😂). A nice little insight. Thank you both. If you weren’t aware, there is one unique mode of transport to the Isle of Wight and that is by hovercraft, from Portsmouth. Not many left in the world.

Sad train news here in the States, Canada and Amtrak are having an argument over payments for maintenance on the tracks from the NY/Canada border a Rouses Point up to just east of Montreal. CN has limited all trains on that section to 10mph due to heat kink problems, and it’s a 42-43 mile distance, so that’s 4 hours extra of delays. Amtrak has cut the Adirondack short at Albany (there’s really nowhere to turn the train around farther upstate.)
Basically CN wants Amtrak to pay to replace the tracks with more heat tolerant ones.
What I will say is you just can’t complain at Avanti West Coast when riding their refurbished iconic Pendolinos

Thank you Dylan , that was both informative and enjoyable. I think you and your wife should do more of these. One question I would have liked to ask is about your pronunciation of foreign place names, they seem spot on? Have you a gifting for languages, and what gives you the confidence to travel and make yourself known in countries that aren’t fluent in English. Perhaps do a blog on the Ffestiniog or Highland railway which are local to us.

Can you ride with the Alfa Pendular and Intercidades in Portugal, the AVE and Intercity in Spain, the European Sleeper train from Berlin to Brussels, the TGV and Intercity in France, the Thalys, the Eurostar, the Pendolinos in Slovenia, Slovakia and Finland, the X2000 und X3000 in Sweden, the new EC Hamburg-Kopenhagen with german IC coaches? Can you ride with the ICE 3 Neo and later with the ICE L? And with the new ICNG in Netherland?

Well, since my post on your car vs train video this morning, I see you did go to the shearing shed (er..barber). Great to see Eli contributing actively again - you've hit the jackpot there! And I see 4 of the 5 house managers participated as well! Now I think they might have had a say in you staying put in Bradford.
Other things noticed are Tigger in the background and the boomerang at the side window. Ahhhh, does that mean you might come downunder? I agreed with most of the answers to the questions Eli put to you. Certainly Stadler Flirt trains have transformed the Greater Anglia experience and are proving popular in America as well. I wonder if they will ever get down to Australia. GBR looks like a Mexican standoff again between DfT, the Treasury and those who really know how to operate a railway and give excellent customer service. Enough from me on this presentation! Funny you mentioned Røros Line and Stadler Flirt. During the summer they operate a Stadler Flirt from Oslo to Trondheim via Røros Line with a dual mode Stadler Flirt. A very nice trip❤

I really do like your videos and content and I do think that you should continue on making more videos. I got a question. Do you think that closing train ticket offices at railway stations is necessary and people to use ticket machines which most of the time these machines keep on breaking down.
I travel on c2c and I’ve seen lots of ticket machines having issues and the people who commute on c2c are getting frustrated with what’s happening to their stations and having to see ticket machines closed permanently and ticket machines keep on breaking down. I do think that c2c are deliberately ruining people’s lives just by allowing these things to happen.
And I have seen posters at Greater Anglia stations stating that their ticket offices at certain stations are to close which is a big mistake and I think it’s so wrong to close these ticket kiosks or having to change opening hours.
I wasn't sure about either of you. After this video, I am a great fan!😊
