We call them Automatic Theft Machines here, because of their high usage fee's for each transaction and also cause 99% of them are used for laundering money of criminal organizations that own them legally.
1500 Dollar Box before you destroyed it. Small Mom and Pop Stores buy them. I've forced open over 40, it takes about 11/2 minutes when your in a hurry and experienced.
This is a challenge: If you see any number or item that doesn't connect with the old ATM opening, you have to subscribe to them Also put it on full screen for the clues
Would've been good to place the ATM in a Man Cave. Convert it to a Juke Box / Beer Dispenser or something. Great talking point. Somebody would buy it. But not now!

I'm not surprised with an abounded atm like that. Those ATMs are serviced under contract. If the contract was up, they would make sure it was empty. They probably left the empty cache box for resell opportunities. 🤷
You have the grinder! Take out the side hinge and the door will come right off! Actually, the machine intact would have gotten some cash, more than scrap metal price you now get!
That may tell you if any was in the mechanism but not if any were stored we used to keep the days takings inside overnight to save us having to buy a separate safe

In Australia most ATMs contain die packs, so even if you could bust open the safe the cash would be worthless.

Thieves who try to steal ATMs need to watch this. It would probably deter them from doing it. That's a lot of work with tools thieves don't possess
