      Hey you guys, my aunt has about $1M 8n inventory of jeweler made jewelry. Everything from rings, earrings, gold, silver settings, precious stones and semi precious stones. She had traveled the circuit of nationwide jewelry shows for thirty years and as she's looking to retire, would like some advice as to where/who she can equitably transfer a left over inventory of amazing jewelry. Any ideas would be appreciated. 🙂👍

    There are people out there who save and save to buy good things, store them in a safe, only to die without anyone knowing what they have and where the loot is. It's a sad testament to how lonely many of us are.

    I am a retired locksmith of 35 years. Love the channel, LOVE George's eyes!!!! Safe manufacturers know a safe will be put up against a wall so they SKIMP on the security of the back of the safe! Buy a die-grinder (even a cheap Chicago from Harbor Freight is good enough) and use it to cut open the back of the safe. All the security is put into the DOOR of a safe and you try to defeat the strongest part. I love watching it (he he he he) but don't kill yourself! Chris

    I know how much excitement a safe can cause!! I was buying storage units way before the TV shows came around. Yes, I was even on one of the shows, as a participant of the auction, not as a buyer on the show. One safe that we got was a floor safe. We checked with a locksmith but decided to just do it ourselves. Angle grinder and diamond blade in hand, the chore began. We got lucky on the choice of where to cut - had we hit the SECRET security lever in the locking mechanism, it would have triggered an additional lever that would have meant we would have had a LOT more cutting to do to get the lid off or start a new hole hoping to not burn up whatever was inside. We were so excited peeking inside!! There was mostly jewelry with a few coins and other goodies! The safe then went to the recycling yard!! It took two people to lift it into the back of our truck!! I sure do miss getting storage units!!! (Another room gave us personal Poloroid pictures & ephemera of The James Brown Band, including the Godfather of soul, in their early years. Still researching the items!!) Love your videos!!

      the reason many ppl didn't want to buy this unit is that in the end they have to take home or get rid of everything inside which can cost more than the money used to buy it. so if all the stuffs inside are junks and you need like 50$-100$ to move them to the landfills then it would be a huge loss.

      Right ! Apparently the owner died and didn't leave a next of kin contact info to the storage facility , or maybe the next of kin didn't care . A person's life and what they held valuable to them reduced to it being sprawled on the ground and salvaged through .The things that the owner kept in that whiskey box meant something sentimental to that person but now it is viewed as worthless junk to a stranger . Really sad .
      This just confirms that the material things that we place value in through out our lives are only important as long so that we live , but once dead our things becomes other people spoils or junk , this includes to relatives too . We must enjoy life while we have it . Yes , save some for tomorrow but do savor every second of life in the present .

      @jasonandres8340 Рік тому +1

      @timothybolshaw I take it you didn't see that almost every coin was in its very own hard display case? Unless that hard outer case was cracked open .... which I didn't see that happening at all, the coins wouldn't have been damaged at all.
      BUT, even if they had all been damaged, it still wouldn't have mattered any... most of the coins were all massed produced "collectors items" that didn't have much value over the amount printed on each coin.

    The way to open a safe is to use a hammer to knock the dial off, put a bar on where the dial was and hit it with a hammer to pop the locks out of the box and the tumblers back. You can reverse that when you get it open by looking to see where the tumblers open and save the safe.

    I do storage auctions quite often here in Louisiana and time to time I also find a safe or 2, but I never destroy it to open and here's why. My first safe I did everything but blow it up to open it to only find air in it. Later that day my friend saw me load it onto my scrap trailer and he took a closer look and said what a dummy I was to destroy it. I said why and he said it was a $750 safe! So just to let you know I have studied safes and that one you just destroyed is worth $750-$850 in it's current condition....well before it was destroyed. Love the videos! My local locksmith told me a safe that size is 50-100 dollars to open.

Cause I know if some one showed up at my house saying they had the last Christmas presents from a past on realitive would be so special and emotional, kinda like one last hug from them. Hope you found that family. No telling how much of that stuff was family airlooms.

    Yikes! Many of the old safes are insulated with asbestos, so chances are, you are breathing it with every hammer blow, releasing that white powder into the air. A respirator, and goggles, might be a good idea.

In other words NOT!! My Dad was like that. He Taped up his chisels so us kids wouldnt get hurt, because he kept them so sharp. One day he was removing a wooden drawer front, (no gloves, no eye protection...you know) and he RAN THE CHISEL THROUGH HIS PALM OF HIS HAND. He had to have MICRO-SURGERY to reattach the nerves so he wouldnt lose use of his hand. He missed EVERY BONE IN HIS HAND, SOMEHOW!! NO broken bones....Angels and God watch out for these guys, Im telling ya!! He will figure it out one day!! Just takes time. Funny how when you seen that 2oz gold bar you just threw it to the side like it was trash but then got excited to look at the common coin collection. That was done on purpose. He obviously had a higher b.p. and heart rate when he laid the gold bar down and decided to fly threw the rest of the video because didn't want any attention to the possible nearly $4,000 bar of gold and happen to get the attention of a faux "locker defaultee" or even moreso possibly the actual ex owner of the locker who may now want to pursue you for that gold lol 😆 you was trying to hurry to the end so he could start fiddling with that bar! 😆 and then have to deal with that crap. 😆😆😆😆 We know what's going on , nobody missed that extremely valuable gold bullion bar, mate 😉😎😆
