On this episode of TFLclassics David buys a new project truck! It is a 1992 Chevy Silverado 2500 with a big block V8 and a manual transmission. It also needs a lot of work, but check it out right now!

I watch pretty much all your channels but when you do projects like this I fully enjoy most of all. I’m living vicariously through you guys. Lol
I had a 1990 srw3500 454 th400 4wd Silverado. I loved that truck. Timing chain jumped due to the nylon on the cam gear failing. Rebuilt it and it was such a fun thing to drive. Also, the tbi 454 heads are not specific to the tbi intake manifold. I put a Weiand Street fighter aluminum square/spread bore carburetor intake manifold on it and kept the tbi and never had a issue.
Given the state of this thing, and its progenitor Gunsmoke - you should call this Tombstone.
Second Tombstone!
"What do you want on your Tombstone?"
"A bedliner and a winch!" :D
As the person who came up with gunsmoke, and currently advocating for “covergirl” on this one I can also get behind tombstone.
Seconded.
You’ve had “Gun smoke” and “Six Shooter”. So how about “Black Powder”?
more like Oil Slick
I second that, Kelvin!
Agreed
David's a great addition to TFL. love all you videos with him .
454! Had one of those in a '78. 8 mpg in town, 8 mpg on the freeway, 8 mpg towing. 8ft bed. Call it Super8.
Since it's a good farm truck call it The Cattlelac
I love any old truck from the big three, but I do have a soft spot for an old 454! Especially, with that manual! TFL needs more Case and David videos. They seem to get along well and obviously have a love for old and REAL trucks! Keep up the great work, guys! Definitely going to keep up with this project. Have a great rest of the day - Everett
A big block, stick shift, standard cab 8’ bed! One drive and your testosterone level will soar.
Real trucks! Heck yes!
It puts a smile on your face when you drive it.
My truck blew up yesterday. I ended up watching this video and you guys have inspired me to search for a K3500. I’m excited for the hunt.
You ever find one? Their truck is a example of the highest desirability spec.
Love the idea of buying old trucks and fixing them up, keep it up!
I really enjoyed watching the Gunsmoke build and I’m really excited to see this build with the 92 Chevy, these were great trucks back in the day! I love these budget build videos, keep up the great work guys!
454 with 5 on the floor - cannot go wrong with that!
Ranch hand sound good to me for a name ,like a rock my friends
I’m glad TFL brought you on Case. You’re a fantastic addition.
they really needed someone that knows what a wrench is... Roman is the kind of guy that buys a new car if the ashtray gets filled
Project farm hand?
Drivers side door looks like it was caught by the wind and bent forward. Probably stretched the door hinges.
I like that direction, but how about Project Ranch Hand?
@@jongrabbe3357. That might be better actually.
In Iceland we called that the Keflavik Crease. The wind would catch the doors of anyone who unsuspectingly parked with the wind behind him. Do it once and you'll never do it again.
As far as project names, you had Gunsmoke...why not Black Powder?
@@garym81. That's exactly why I mentioned it, I've had the wind catch the door on a truck which creased the door skin and bent the hinges.
Project Black powder does fit their motif with Project Gun Smoke being the predecessor.
Great find guys! I really enjoy watching David and Kase problem solve and fix up these old trucks.
Amazing! I love the obs generation and a srw 454 truck is the absolute peak of the GMT400, cant wait to watch the series!
Also, Ranch Hand!
Project NV! A play on the word envy. As it will be the envy of everyone when it is done.
Ranch hand has a good ring to it. Then again since it's on the happy yak ranch maybe it could be the jolly rancher
Jolly Rancher is ok if they paint it red... not much i hate more than a red truck
@@philtripe jolly ranchers came in more than just red
I love the GMT400 platform! grew up around them, learned to drive and 4x4 with them and they hold a special place in my heart.
"Repeater" Keeping with the Firearms theme and the old west feel. And a bit of a Pun!
I got hooked on TFL because of the videos with David in them. :)
When I first saw the truck and the fact it is a 92, good year. I thought wow the Black stallion. My dad’s boss drove a 93 K3500 utility truck with the 5-speed man. To me this is the last of the great Chevy trucks.
Gosh dang thats a good looking truck!
Holy crap, I just got a 98 that needs help for around the same price, another guide I can follow ! Can’t wait to see what they do.
More of this please! Great content for a small price yet big reward 🤝. If I had ranch space I’d have it looking this way too.
Ranch hand.
That's a good one!
I’m thinking Project Black Beauty. Because when she’s all said and done, her beauty will shine for years to come!
I’m glued to this series you guys are amazing, your videos really scratch that itch for us old truck lovers.
Now this is something I'd like to see progress on
Can’t wait to see more videos on the new project truck love that it’s a five speed
I had a 1998 3500 4 door 8 foot bed 2WD 5 speed manual. Bull low first gear and a really great free wheeler on the highway. Still miss that truck. It was a fun one to drive.
This is so cool to see. I have a 95 3500 quad cab extended bed. Mine is 4wd with a 5 speed as well, but I have the 6.5 detroit. Excited to see what you have in store for the truck!
Awesome truck. I just picked up a 1998 k1500. 4x4 , Standard cab, short bed, 5.7 with the nv3500 , 120k miles for $1200 at a state auction.
Awesome. Can't wait for the videos to come.
The good news is they make all the replacement parts for it. My dad had a 95 exended cab 2500 with the 6.5 turbo deisles for years till he past away solid truck.
I'm not a Ford guy but I really enjoyed the last project video series. I'm rather excited about this series and depending on how you sell it, I'm already interested.
Another great series about to start.... I can feel it! Love what you do, saving older unique tricks.
Had same truck my step dad bought new in 92 drove it 15 years I got it in 05 drive it 3 year should have kept it cool that you guys are going to fix it up can not wait to see it when it done
I own a 1995 Chevy K1500 very similar to the new project. Mine is a regular cab, long bed in the beige color, with a 350 in 5.7 V8 and the automatic transmission. It is my first truck and it has been a magical and interesting experience getting to own and live with it. So that got me thinking....Black Magic should be the name of the new K3500 Project Truck!!
Can't wait to see what you guys have in store for this truck, glad to see that David is back also!
2 inch left with mod polish 16x8 rims and a rebuild on the motor, them 454 are good torque monsters
That’s a sweet truck, my buddy had a similar truck in high school but with the Detroit diesel. Way to much ether starts blew the engine, we tried rebuilding it ourselves in high school, tore the motor apart, realized we had no clue what we were doing and scrapped the truck.
Those trucks look great with stock suspension and 255/85r16 tires on the stock steelie wheels with center caps and trim rings.
Love it. My first truck was and 89 Sierra heavy duty with a 5-speed. Bought it as a project, it was a tank. Could not kill it.....until the frame rotted. Darn Ontario salt.
This truck is exactly what I want in a 90s chevy. I can't find anything similar where I live.
“Ol’ Rusty” sounds like a good name. 😂
Needs door pins. Valve cover seals, replace seats, shocks, ball joints, tie rods, idler and pitman arms. Leave the paint alone until the mechanicals are fixed.
I recommend adding cut-out-fender flares for a little bigger tire and eliminate some body repair
Looking forward to this build. Right on!
Just love the look of Chevys early 90s truck body style.
Ranchers special i thought that would be a great name
That does sound like a good name indeed
How about Ranch Hand
The YEE YEE machine
Fix the door, some paint, full dual exhaust, some white letter out KO2s, get that interior sorted, and that will be a sweet truck.
I honestly look forward more to TFL Classic videos then the rest...
I love these builds, they are NOT over the top like other UA-camrs with sponsors, huge garages and insanely cost prohibitive components... no!
This is what you and me would be able to do. It's "relatable content".
And i love it.
(And i second the nick name "Tombstone")
STUBBY since his other 92 is a long bed crew cab. Neat find
Name suggestion: Festus- after Marhall Dillons sidekick on Gunsmoke
Truck name = "Origin Story"...fitting for David's TRD!!
project “covergirl” it should be easy, it’s breezy, it will be beautiful when you are done
On the same theme call it project "centre fold"
cant, its a boy... its has the big muscular 454
You ever heard of play girl they have centre folds of big musclesed dudes
Oh and for a name? How about Big Iron? Because it is some big iron. Marty Robbins may or may not approve, idk. Lol.
Love the sarcasm about TRD syndrome 😂😂
Definitely a nice buy! I sorta like the name "Ranger?" Has a Texas Ranch Feel too it... Just needs a bull guard on the front with some 31-33s, Cab lights & a Horn on the front. Haha. That's really neat otherwise, I love the Pre-95 Worktruck (W/T) Otherwise also "Cheyanne" Single HL package.
Anytime I see a black Chevy from the 90s I think intimidator. That's what you should call this truck.
Project Ranch Hand would fit great I think 🤘
Oh hell, what was the last year for the Scottdale? 92? 93? Cool to see one still around.
And man, those GMT400s don't break, they just wear parts out. I daily a 91 C1500 350 auto Silverado, and at 235k it's still just plugging along. They're hard to beat.
And it's nice to see some adults giving some attention to what the kids call the "OBS" Chevy trucks.
GUNSMOKE II-- it looks like the smoke when you fire a gun
now , thats another badass project
I'm super excited to see this thing restored to its former glory.
Nobody else cares about this but I have to say I love David's jacket and Dr. Pepper cap. Lookin' good brother
My vote for name is either, "Ranch Hand," or, "Jolly Rancher," due to its location at the Happy Yak.
The old stakebed is really cool! Would love to find one for my farm.
SOME OF BEST TRUCKS CHEVY EVER BUILT!
That truck oughta be named Ol' Trusty
Nice Series Rover!!!
Dave is the man! The man with TRD :)
Rowdy!! In honor of the series Wagon Train. Clint Eastwood character.
Call it Bruiser. That thing is beat!!
This is a perfect truck, I have a 1990 k1500 I’m working on myself so I’m particularly curious on what you guys can do with this.
If an addiction to Dr. Pepper is a problem, then I never want it to go away! It flows through my veins. I like Hunts By Chainsaw's idea Project farmhand. The truck can be called "The Farmhand"! Keep up the great work guys!
I like 8 Ball for the name! 🎱
Sweet! Can't wait to see what's in store with this one. Please find an old tundra next 👍
“Powder Keg” has my vote
“Open door” for the nickname
I liked what I saw in his barn that was cool
Maybe I'm stupid for saying this, but the first thing I thought of when you asked for a name was "Rocky", just because of those old Chevy commercials.
Perfect!!!.. I love it!!.. should be a interesting series!!..🌟 Awesome purchase 🌟 Right on David!!☺..call it Heavy Chevy
Please do an Ike towing run with this truck when done! I think that would be interesting and neat!
I gotta get one just like that now. 2500$ is a steal.
Crossbow. Cross and bow both reference the Chevy logo, the driver's side door is bowed out a little, and it had sat still so long you'd have thought it was dead (thereby needing a cross).
Project Black Yak.... it's a bit of a gamble, but I know you guys can do it!
Wow love it I have that same truck !!! Wow and 3 other ones lol
Please do a Ike towing run with this truck when done, I think that would be awesome!!
I vote you call it the rock-steer. Or maybe the Dirt-Shuttle
.454 casull would be the best name for it
Can’t wait to see the progress!!
all you need is a rebuild on that big block to make 500 hp, fix the door, and call it RoadKill good enough
Those 454's vapor lock quite often. I'm curious to see if you find some solutions for that throttle body.
Looking forward to this next project !! Keep up the good work. Maybe do a 50 dollar a ticket raffle and give away the pickup. Give the money to another charity.
The 454 Raffle Truck !!!
Gotta be “Smoky”, because it did just that on the first long drive.
Betty as in "woah black betty bam-ba-lam"
Big Stick has a nice ring to it.
