I know it's been awile but what is your understanding and or opinion of advance spirit tap. Is that the name? Cant remember. Put 3 points in spirit tap then last 2 in the other one, bc is out so its change. I just started again after years off.

Matthium I use a compressor as well (Joey Sturgis Gain Reduction). Without a preamp or a compressor the sm7b doesn’t slay. Check it out

I was thinking.. isn't going shadowform at level 44 better? Because at 44 you get a new rank of mind flay and you can stick with your wand specialization until then.. thoughts?
If you grind dungeon over and over yeah lvl 44 you'll be better! But if end up solo xp/questing even a bit, then shadow will be your best pale at 40

For aoe grinding. Pull your pack. Burn one down while ccd. Get the spirit tap proc. Then aoe while the proc rolls. After mobs are dead tap is up again
Does this work well with wow classic while leveling up? I mean for solo grind. Seems like this spell is doing almost no damage. For example at rank 3, you do only 78 to 91 damage so with a lvl 36 mob which has approx 1500 life, you would need more or less 15 of these spells which would consume 6,000 mana. Or maybe if you focus more on intelligence than spirit to get more mana and crits? But, I doubt this will give 2x more mana than if you have a focus on spirit for your gear
@@harissa78 you are airing with a mage not solo so with both of you doing it you should be fine since your Nova heals for 140 plus a cast

Hey. I did a bit more research and looked for ''ideal openers'' for priest leveling. I still don't have access to beta so I haven't had chance to test resist values like you do but it seems that swp>mind blast>smite>holy fire>mind flay are best dps in that order for most part untill lvl 44.
For efficiency's sake holy fire is actually better opener than anything else because you regenerate one tick more mana at 200% rate compared to anything else. Your second spell should be best dps spell (depends on rank whether it's mind blast or smite) or a quick heal if necessary and then best dps spell that you're able to fully cast before mobs reaching you. After two casted dps spells dot all mobs attacking you and put innerfire on if it has run out. Afterwards you just wand and start casting again when you have spirit tap up.
PWS is a terrible spell mana wise but you need to use that to prevent casting pushbacks only if martyrdom isn't up. If you're forced to cast pws then you need to use best dps spells and skip holy fire because you already casted and won't benefit from 200% mana regen ticks.
You know you're doing something wrong if your mana reaches 0 or it goes to 100% at any given moment because you're wasting your mana regeneration. Hydramist had a very smart leveling build that utilizes improved SWP as it is always your best dps ability. He puts few points for shadow focus to prevent resists while dotting as well but generally has talents in each spec. Martydom is important (especially on private servers because of/sit macro but that might not work in classic).
That type of gameplay is the most efficient but requires a lot more skill to pull off perfectly. You could even pick mind flay for pvp with that build and I might give it a go when classic launches.
When does Priest lvling start to pick up with this build? My main is 52 lock but I came back to Classic recently and wanted to give Priest a try. I'm at 19 and it's been kinda slow thus far.
I know you play Shadow but do you know where one could find resources for Smite Priest.
Smite is pretty straightforward, but you have some options, depending on playstyle. You have to determine what your role is going to be. People who want to level as holy generally want to be able to heal as well when they group up. Is that what you want to do, or just try and max out your dmg potential as you solo your way up? Those are the questions you need to answer.
First, go to a talent calc, like this one: classicdb.ch/?talent#bZsxxbbbV
For either role mentioned above, allocate your points as 21/25/5 Disc/Holy/Shadow. Spend your first 5 points for Spirit Tap. The next 5 points go into Wand Spec. [Follow the style of play mentioned in the video at these levels.] The next 5 go into Holy Specialization.
For mostly solo play, put your next 5 points into Divine Fury. Your next 5 stay in the Holy tree and are in order of preference, so put 2 in Healing Focus and 2 in Imp Renew, and 1 in Blessed Recovery. Now that your 15 point talents are unlocked, in order of preference, put 2 in Searing Light and 2 in Holy Reach. You need to unlock your 20 point talent row now, so go back and toss one more into Blessed Recovery. Then spend your last 5 holy points in Spiritual Guidance. From here, all you have left is Discipline. Toss 3 into Improved PW: Shield, then 2 into Improved PW: Fortitude. Then 3 into Meditation, 1 into inner focus, and 1 into Martyrdom (that's just to unlock the 15 point row). Then put 5 into Mental Agility, and your last into Divine Spirit.
For some group play, most of the changes are in the Holy tree. In the first row, just move one point from Healing Focus to Improved Renew, and move 2 from Blessed Recovery to Inspiration in the 10 point row. In the disc row, move the one point in Martyrdom over to Silent Resolve. Note, these changes are minor and won't have a large impact on either style of leveling.
For gear, stack spirit, then int, then stam. Spall dmg + healing is a bonus if you can get it.
Your basic spell rotation is to pull with Holy Fire, followed by SW:P, then Smite, and wand to finish. It's up to you if you want to shield yourself first. That should depend on what where you're at in the talent trees and how much spirit you've acquired. For more difficult mobs, shield first and finish with smite instead of wand. Of course, area permitting, Psychic Scream is a good safety. The only heal you should need to cast while grinding is Renew.

He is a pvper at mind too. You could move some talents from +hit to blackout if you're concerned but the spec is flexible all around.

Just questioning your choice to go 5/5 Shadow Focus?
As spellcaster you will always have a 1% chance to miss with your spells.
Against a target of the same level you have a 4% chance to miss. (3% hit is needed for cap)
Against a target of 1 level higher you have 5% chance to miss. (4% hit is needed for cap)
Against a target of 2+ levels... What are you doing? Run away and go to the correct area!
Fighting mobs below your lvl and above your level gives you reduced XP.
But also missing abilities just slows you down. So we take 2/5 Shadow Focus to reach the 4% hitcap.
Have to remember he's not actually a high tier wow player he just knows them

It's not a good talent for leveling. You only ever Mind Blast in the beginning of a fight, almost never mid fight.
Getting enough linen cloth to make a wand through enchanting didn't seem possible on the stress test server, the spawn rates of NPCs are too low / it's too busy. Still a good suggestion, I'll ask friends to save their cloth for me to get past the horrible no-wand phase.
I got a question, im late to the party i know. Went undead shadow priest hit 60 yesterday woot! ...i wanna stay shadow....but everyone said go disp or somthing or you wont get groups, you wont be able to get gear etc...i wanna stay shadow priest. but...i am just at a loss on what i should be doing now...any advise on a fresh level 60 s priest?
Gear yourself out in prebis and start looking for a raid group, if you can't find one then just join pugs. It's pretty easy to find a raid spot.
Hey, how come you put 5/5 into shadow focus if you have 5/5 into shadow weaving? I am a bit confused
Shadow Focus reduces the chance your target will resist your shadow spells. Shadow Weaving 5/5 makes every spell have a 100% to stack shadow vulnerability that will increase your shadow damage on the target. Increase % to hit + increase shadow damage % = faster killing

What about ranks of spells?
My biggest concern is the whole wand issue and trying to obtain one early. :/ - coinciding with my professions ( do i go tailoring / skinning? ) or ( tailoring / Enchanting)

I would love to see an in depth video on Priest match-ups versus all other classes, and not just in a vacuum or duel but also some common world pvp situations. When do you just run away?

I think Shadow Reach should not be overlooked for leveling. The further the target is from you, the more damage you can do before it reaches you which I think can be very valuable. I would probably take out the points from Blackout except one. But that's just me. Love to hear feedback on this.

What is the rationale for going 5/5 Shadow Focus? To my understanding you have 6% chance to miss on mobs 2 levels higher than you, and 17% chance to miss on mobs 3+ levels higher. Would it be reasonable to put 3/5 in Shadow Focus and e.g. 2/5 in Blackout instead for leveling?
See, that’s what I thought too, but what about mob resistance values? I’ve been missing my shadow spells on equal level mobs at 6% because the values are so different from what I’m used to.

You are not using shadow spells other than swp pre 40 as mind flay is not that good, 3 of 5 should be fine pre 40. After 40 5 points is better.
So if I want to be a healer, still go with this build for leveling and I should be fine healing dungeons as well?
Yes, you can very easily heal all 5 man content as this build.
Yes, but you'll be sure to stack spirit for those dungeons. I leveled many shadow priests and dungeons are not a big deal. Just need to be more careful with mana compared to holy/disc spec

Isn`t it better to just go 5 wand spec first instead of alternating with shadow?
Yes 100%. Improved wand spec only speeds up kill time on a mob if it reduces the amount of wand hits the kill takes. Getting 5/5 wand spec right away to get you to that first major breakpoint in killspeed improvement is crucial. Even if you don't have a wand until the smoldering wand from the vendor at 15 I would still go 5/5 wand spec to speed up 15-19 and not have to respec at 15.
Additionally alternating talent points is almost always suboptimal. It's pretty unlikely that there's a situation in which one talent is optimal at one level, then a different talent is optimal the next level, and then cleanly the mathematically optimal choice goes back and forth between those two talents until they're both maxed.
AnimeCenter I personally like alternating. I know many other players that do as well, but it’s totally up to you. The difference either way isn’t going to matter that much :)
It is much better to go 5 wand first, most of your damage at low levels comes from wands. Alternating is going to slow your leveling speed some, but not as much as going 5 spirit tap first. But whatever you do be sure that those two talents gets maxed before spending talent points into other talents.
It takes more time to level from level 15 - 16, than from level 10-11 so having maxed out wands as fast as possible does alot more for you (since most of your dps comes from wands) than having spirit tap maxed out.
It's not like you are going to have wand @10 + the wand damage is so low per hit it hardly affects how many hits you need for killing blow

Hey KALA this is Indivisible37, I would love to see some 20-40, 40-60 shadow priest World pvp while leveling builds. What your idea is for pvp while leveling looks like. Also since i have never played classic above level 40,. i would love to see a level 60 guild for decent items/ dungeon runs i should do to gear up. I dont plan on raiding but doing pvp.
for ganking - shield, renew, swp, devouring plague (if u got it), mind blast, mind flay on repeat, wand when oom, silence and fear when applicable.

How much better are shadow priest than warlocks in pvp? I'm torn between which I should play. Any sugestiones?
In 1v1 pvp situations only a Rouge comes close to a Shadow Priest. If it's an Undead Priest, gg Rouges.

Rouge is a color smh my head
They are actually quite similar. Though spriest's instant cast fear, silence, and health regen (even if it is just through vampiric) boost that class a bit above warlock. You can see why when a spriest and warlock go up against each other, the spriest should win the majority of the time.
So how much better? A bit, but not too much. Warlocks have a tougher time against rogues unless you are properly prepared, and a ton of people play rogues. Especially on pvp servers. And you'll have a hard time against spriests. Though really, since they are so similar, why not just pick the superior option? Spriests are better in pvp, have more utility in groups being able to play dps or heals. The only reason you'd pick a warlock, other than just personal preference, is if you never, never want to heal so you get similar play but nobody expects you to do anything other than dps.
No reason to go over 3/5 into shadow focus, you'll be over the hit cap at 6 percent. Put points into range of shadow spells.
Helps a lot when you're killing things over your level. If you're not gonna do something like that then yea range or even blackout are better choices.
well, 6% covers up to 2 levels above you's hit cap. You'll very rarely be attacking 3 above and even then, the miss rate jumps to 17% so a few more points is minimally helpful. You get a lot better value out of other talents.
When the commenters know more than the guy who made the guide.
That is if youre fighting mobs at your current level, which wont the the case all the time.

Yes they are,but only troll priests because they have shadow word.
They more or less are. Both rogues and spriests have no bad match-ups meaning they can win against any class under the proper conditions. It isn't like say mage vs. warrior where it is heavily skewed to one side.

I play wow from 2007 and started on warlock.Now on classic wanted play shadow priest or again lock.
as long as you know what your doing and are supporting (dispels, healing as needed etc), are working on good/pre raid BIS gear and are farming (especially mana) consumables, there should be a spot for you
There are a lot of guilds that will give up 1 slot for a spriest. Even the debuff slot for shadow weaving. Out of all the not-so-raid-friendly specs, and there are a lot in vanilla, shadow priest is one of the specs which people will generally accept.
The trick is just getting to be that one shadow priest.
what the idea behind the fact of not taking shadow reach? seems incredibly powerful to me, in any situation.

Taking 2 points from shadow focus and put those into shadow reach is going to benefit you more, both in PvP and PvE.

5/5 wands, 5/5 spirit tap and then 11 points in holy to get holy nova. it is important to get it by level 30.
it is the only instant cast dmg spell that priest has and it is very useful for mob taging on a fresh crowded server.
it's gonna make a difference in places like shimmering flats and stv where you gonna compete with everyone for the same mobs and you gonna respec into full shadow later anyway.
I can agree on that i went for holy nova on nostalrius asap and it made it alot easier but i also had friends Who did the dmg for me.

Def pop shield pre pull so the soul debuff goes away quicker than the cool down of your next shield.
Can you make a video about priest PVP at 60, why we should play it, how is it fun? Ive been watching videos and the 3-5 buttons you press make it look boring, (not an insult) trying to find a fun looking class for classic but also not too complicated as ive never cracked 2k before. HELP
You could say the same about classes like Warrior. What's so fun in stance dancing and trying to get that overpower proc while spamming 1-2 buttons.
That's all classic is for the most part. Most classes don't need to use a lot of buttons, especially in PvE. Healers use more, DPS/Tanks use less. Not sure what "too complicated" and 2k have to do with each other though.
If you want fun class then go for druid or hunter. The skill cap is high and it really shows when you're good. I'll roll priest first, then druid and finally hunter. And if that's not enough then I'll probably gear a tank warlock as well at late classic
Why is holy not any good?
I got to level 55 deep holy spec just fine by solo doing quests. It's really not a big deal.

Knowing that a shadow priest is something like an offensive support and he won't do much damage compared to pure dps, why is Shadow Affinity that necessary?
On Horde you don't have Blessing of Salvation.
Mind Blast has an extra threat modifier. Mind Control is loads of threat.
Vampiric Embrace + Improved, causes LOADS of threat also, the healing is considered "shadow"

i argue this. spirit tap. 3 points, because thats enough. 5 points wand. til level 18. then 2 points into improved fortitude. then, respec taking the points from spirit tap and putting them into improved rejuv(your cheapest, most efficient heal for non tank targets, or pw shielded targets). til 5 points. then the .5 sec reduced cast on holy spells. then 5 points into power word shield... because at level 18, youre just going to be healing dungeons. why? well, grab all your quests, and you can get 2 levels in one hour worth of dungeon running. then run one or two more times, and you are geared and leveled to the next dungeon. rinse and repeat. grab your quests, and run dungeons..... not only is this 10 times faster than solo leveling, but you are always geared up, from the quests and drops. (if youre at a gear defecit, from bad rng, then buy your gear from the ah, with the gold you make from dungeon mobs)you have more than enough gold. and you network. everyone knows you can heal. and when it comes to raid time, you have a friends list thats a mile long. you dont want spirit tap if youre going to be leveling dungeons. (look, once you get your healing spells taken care of, grab 3 points in spirit tap, when dungeon leveling loses efficiency.)because its pointless. youll never get the killing blow, and youll constantly be drinking. so, make you heals strong enough. your stam buff strong enough. and get it done.... whats the point of pvp'ing before you have all your talents? it sucks. so bad. why? because either you are at a loss, or they are. so you cant enjoy a kill because you know it was cheap. and vice versa. just can level up as fast as possible in the most efficient way possible. be shadow when its worth it. if you want to be a shadow of a shadow priest for 2 months straight, grinding your way to insanity, then go for it. orrrrr.... be a good healer. get into raids when its time, and be geared to the teeth. because you know 200 people who need a priest, from healing dungeons for 60 levels. and they know youre good(remember, this isnt dungeon finder. these people are on your server and will remember you.)...... let me know if this doesnt make sense. but its been making my life a hundred times easier. ive leveled a priest 4 times faster than my druid. i dont understand why people would rather grind a level every 3 hours, or more. getting ganked every 5 seconds. when they can take care of 2 levels in an hour and a half, or less. depending on the quests. you get bags. you get twinked out. and you get soooo much gold. its a win win win win.
also, you can save all your world quests for endgame, when youre struggling to find quick ways to make gold. being level capped will let you breeze through those quests, and stop you from getting ganked. plus youll be mounted. and can level your professions much more quickly.

Sure! I can go find some 32 elites to solo if you'd like? I have good gear so it's not the best example, but a Priest is able to solo elites without much issue.

Man, I so want to level a priest for Classic. Priest or warrior. I feel like I would have better luck getting into raids as heals though as most guilds bring their own tanks. The downer would be farming mats and gold as holy. :( I hate trying to kill things or defending myself from ganks as holy.
Only confusing part of the video is when you go over stat priority. Could you put the stat priority in the description or just reply to this post?
