For someone who loves glaciers, Jarl, you must have been in 7th heaven here. It looks like the whole of Rapadalen valley was created by a massive glacier(s). What a magnificent view and campsite. Thanks for sharing.
Hello 👋 my outdoors friend. Thank you for another exciting tag along. I'm amazed at the scenic beauty of the area. Please keep up your great work. Stay safe and healthy out there. 🤗
Glorious. Interesting to see the Rapadalen from the less frequented side. Great weather too for filming and two wonderful camp spots. Looking forward to the next episode.
You had some great areas to just hang out and be alive. The valley reminded me of the Yukon in a way. So much so I had to pause the video and google gold panning in Scandinavia. lol. Very Interesting? What a sanctuary. Thank you sir. Stay well and be safe!!
Dear, sir, I so much appreciate your hiking video you kindly share with us here on UA-cam! I am most grateful that I happen to find your fine channel with so skilfully edited hiking adventures from the last wilderness areas in our beautiful highlands in both Norway and Sweden! The quality of your footage is also most excellent! I have always wished to visit Sarek and I am glad to see the famous Rapadalen from the south side view! The sunny dry weather during your first days on this hike is also a true blessing! So again, thank you so very very much for your fine videos! Kjempeflott! Best regards from Sweden! Wishing you all good things coming your way! Adding this beautiful Irish blessing for you and your family as well: “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again. May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
Привет. Отличное видео, красивые места. Хотела Вас поздравить с наступившим 2022 новым годом и пожелать исполнения всех планов и лучших путешествий. Всегда удачи в пути.
Another amazing video, thanks. Truly a privilege to see such incredible landscapes, it is wonderful that you are able to experience this and share it. Hiking in the rocks looked challenging.
Thank you very much for this truly amazing video. As I am going to Rapadalen within a month (aug/sept 2023) I find it interesting to see how it looks like. This was the first video I looked at, and I now am going to see the other. Once again, thank you very much for inspiring video.
Jarl some amazing views of the valley and surrounding mountains. The white falls coming in were something. Those glaciers on top need further looks up close. The camp by the little creek at the end of the vid couid be on a golf course or on the plains of Montana or Wyoming. That's is such a huge mesa type pasture place on top. The natives had to have used that area extensively in the summers. Haven't you been on the otherside of the mountain at the head of the Rapadalen Valley/ river going through the pass? All that time and two people walk up when you are pitching camp. It's a small world after all. Good music, you do that?
Spectacular and very inspiring videos to find less well known places for a "less crowded" experience . I appreciate a lot the extra effort for the "cinematic" look and the editing . Well , done ! Thanks Fabio
Ok so I've watched quite a few videos now. I usually have them as background while working. Love them but there is one clear improvement point IMO: the wind noises! I've see some sort of little wind muff as a gopro accessory. I think you should look into that!
Awesome and epic adventure my friend ! I would do this too, but only if I was single. My wife sadly doesn't like staying in tents because she's afraid. Beautiful land Sweden is !
Just incredible. I don't think there are enough adjectives to describe how stunning that valley is. Those scree fields were insane! I'm glad you took the 'road less traveled'. There's just something a lot more personal about it. (It's hard to describe, but I'm sure you know.) The little ptarmigan was so sweet. Very much like the grouse here in the PNW. Lovely creatures. Another great episode, Jarl. As always, thanks for taking us along. It's so appreciated. Take care and be safe. ☺🙏❤
Amazing views! Lots of inspiration for alternative routes for my planning! Are you really filming this on the Gopro and iphone only, or is the gear list old? It looks so good! Seems like your gear-links in the description are a bit broken by the way! :)
You certainly know the songs "O what a beautyful morning" and "Morning has broken", and of course the rising sun in Grieg's "Morgenstimmung". You show us the beauty of the light spreading warm vivid colours above the delta-valley, and fading in late afternoon over the dark-blue snow-spotted mountains. I suppose it doesn't get really dark. Splendid views of the menacing rainclouds. - Arriving above the river/stream, I heard a very soft music, Jarl, pianiss (iss)imo, beautifull, the sound of silence..... I think silence in such a deserted landscape must be overwhelming. Nothing but murmuring creeks..... - And, à propos, Jarl, did you bring your recent icy wintertrip to a good end ? All through snow and winter-tempest ? Are you warmed up ? With coffee and hot chocolate ? - P.S. tent set up into 12 seconds !! Wow !!
The area round Bårdde and Ijvahrlahko is one of my favourite spots in Sarek. The birdlife is really something parts of the year :) Did you see any moose from your tenting place at "The balcony" ? This is a good moosespotting place. It will be fun to follow the continuation of your hike. Personally i woumd have hiked lullihavagge and aimed for either Sarvesvagge or Loutholako probably heading east for Njåtjosvagge which is another favourite spot in Sarek. Your films has really sometjing extra and i'm very happy that they are long...this gives an extra weigth on things...
@@NorwegianXplorer obviously Scandinavia has more water, a lot more, but some areas of Nevada have similar vistas of distant mountain ranges stacking on one another and boulder and scree fields strewn across the mountain sides. I guess the difference is in Scandinavia I think a lot of the mountains were created from glacier processes but in the Great Basin it's tectonic and volcanic.
@@Raevenswood Yes, it is mostly from glacier activity, I have driven through the Great Basin a couple of times, up through Ely to Twin Falls in Idaho, great and vast area!
I have a question to you. If I want to reach Skierfe from kvikkvijok would you tell me how long it should take, our efficiency would not cross 12 to 15 km a day. And what would be your suggestion for return route from Skierfe to some place where I get bus? Thanks in advance. I just want to keep the trip compact.
Like I said on FB, I think you would reach Skierfe on the 3rd day, you can campa round Skierfe, I have no idea about a return route with a bus, but you can continue on the Kungsleden trail past a couple lakes an on to the next road, or you can backtrack to Kvikkjokk.
Amazing, I am starting to look into hiking in Sarek. I just ordered a copy of Sarek national park Guide book. I didn’t see too many river crossings, did you edit them out? And do you carry a sat phone or personal location device? What brand? Tack!
Thumbs up ! One of the best videos i have seen of Sarek and overlooking Rapa valley. Can`t hardly wait for the next video from Sarek. By the way , did you see any of the big mooses which Sarek are famous for ? I tried to look when you zoomed in closer to the river in Rapa valley. I didn`t see any though.
Rapadalen is one of the most beautiful places in Sweden.I have only ben to the north side but it looks just as great on the south side where you hiked. So cool camp you had.I always grade a camp from 0 to 10(just for fun)and this is 10 for sure. Thanks for a great video.Looking forward for the next. I can see why it held you there so long! You could not have picked a more perfect time, to walk among the lil white snowdrops and sedges and make your 'red house' by a pristine stream! What a wonderful place to gaze for daze! Thank you 🦉🏞
I always come back to this series, always a good watch, and I can not wait for more content like this, Jarl🙌👀 Is there a GPX available for Sarek series Jarl, if so, where I can find it, I looked over your patreon page and couldn't see it. Regards Florin
Hey Florin, I dont do these videos any more since they dont get many views, maybe too many people making them or little interest, I dont know. Maybe I will put some hiking videos on my other channel in the future. There should be a gpx on Patreon
@NorwegianXplorer Would it be possible to confirm weather is still on your page or not Jarl, the only Swedish trip you've got there is Muddus NP, if you brought it down by any chance could you please upload it again, I will be in Sarek in late spring early summer. I am starting from Kvikkjokk heading North and I need to find a bridge to cross over towards Skierfe viewpoint. Also a good topo map you'd recommend for Sarek will be much appreciated. Thank you. Kind regards, Florin
I had it on my Alltrails, but it looks like Alltrails deleted it, dont know why that happened, sorry about that. There are no bridge to cross to Skierfe, you have to take the boat on Kungsleden, never done that myself. I went from Sitoälvsbroen to get to Skierfe. This route in this video stays on the other side of Rapadalen and doesnt go to Skierfe. The Swedish maps you can buy in any store in the Jokkmokk area is great. Keep in mind that late spring could be full winter still in Sarek, and the water levels will be extremely high in rivers. You should check with STF about when Kungsleden open. I think late summer might be better for this area.
Update! I have uploaded my idea map that this trip was based on to my Patreon, also the gpx. This is not the exact route I hiked so be aware that it is not completely accurate, but you should get the general idea. iT is a huge map with a ton of ideas that I have never hiked in other parts of the park as well. This is only in the GPX file, the pdf map just shows a general overview of the southern loop from Kvikkjokk. www.patreon.com/posts/sarek-idea-map-120254172?Link&
@NorwegianXplorer Thank you, Jarl, for the update and for filling in the gaps where I had no answer for. Yes, I am aware of the weather. I will keep an eye on it and check with STF and will find a window eventually whether that's going to be in early summer or later will see. Thank you for taking time and uploading the file on your page and for the essential info you provided, I will have a look at it later on and use it as a template and create my own map on Alltrails. Kind regards, Florin 🙌
Lovely, Norway has such beautiful and unusual landscapes and colors. It reminds me of the exhibit I visited by artist Nikolai Astrup - it was so amazing and rural- the whole echo was very well done and one of the first in the US

Awesome thank you!
What a blessing to have that gentle happy weather. Thanks.
Yes it was, I follow the forcast around Scandinavia to get the best possible weather for my trips
Brilliant...... What a beautiful place 👍👍
It really is! Highly recommend Sarek if you are into off-trail backpacking!

love the changing colors!

Beautiful. But most satisfying moments are quiet: the little red tent, and making coffee!

The landscape of the North is so interesting. In many ways it reminds me of the Great Basin Desert here in the United States.
Oh wow, never thought of that similarity
