Spider-Man 3 from 2007 is probably my favorite out of al of them. The suit just looked sleek as hell
It's good but I personally prefer the insomniac spiderman 2 black suit
This is the kind of superhero documentary I live for. I don’t care about the cultural impact of heroes tackling social issues or how this book broke so many sales records or how this was a ripoff of that. I love watching DeFalco and Frenz talk about how the black suit caused so many changes to the book and how they started to switch costumes based on the type of story they were telling and how decisions changed based on fan responses. You can’t see that now with comics written for the trade and writers having a desired end goal in their heads that don’t allow any minor deviation they hadn’t planned for. I’m glad to see this live on and hope other people enjoy as much as I did.

Loved how they explained how the Black Suit came to be.
The music in this always sounded so ominous and depressing to hear as a kid. Especially the credits. Which perfectly fits with Peter's neverending life issues and being hopelessly addicted to the suit that's slowly killing him inside.
I remember watching this on TV back in 07. This is what got me into comics beyond the movies and cartoons. Immediately after I picked up the birth of venom tpb.

Wow. Times have certainly changed havent they! I can't imagine comic fans acting like that today!

29:39 A brilliant creative idea that Todd says was also known as "my plan to get that goddamn black suit off of Peter Parker." He hated the black suit and had plans for the red and blue costume he grew up with.
Well that certainly explains the reasons for my long seated contempt for Todd. That costume was the reason I started reading Spider-Man as a kid. Issue #300 made my dislike for him official. The whole Miracleman mess he perpetrated only put the final nail in his coffin. Glad Neil Gaiman won that battle, too.

This is a very cool and interesting documentary. I didn’t realize it was so much backstory. I remember the suit from Secret Wars and thought oh cool he looks like a Ninja (SnakE Eyes) I was all for the new look.
Ultimate Spider-Man Vol 6 Venom is my favorite

I always liked the black costume (comics not Spider-Man 3) it just seemed more elegant n classy and would make him seem more mysterious I guess it’s just my preference though

Released before, Secret Wars issue 8 would debut a few months later to explain how Peter had acquired the costume. It was a marketing ploy to entice you to pick up both books

Not necessarily its first appearance as Stephens pointed out but when he originally acquired it.
A fan made the black costume and sold it to marvel for 250$ In a contest they had at the time.
This documentary is lying.
