Somethings I have also noticed:
1. Poch trying to play out the back has not worked at all, we constantly fail to play the right quick passes and are often lacking execution during these passes
2. We miss Llorente, he was a phenomenal safety blanket if we needed to go long quickly, he provided an incredible aerial presence which had saved us many of times last season. Kane is good in the air but Llorente was way better. Whenever we struggled we could play it long to him and rely on him to win it especially in the latter half of the season.
3. The diamond used by Poch is tiring the players out. Sissoko recently said that playing with the diamond formation tires him out something which worries me because the other players feel it as well most likely.
Other than that another fantastic video Tifo keep up the good work.
We also lack of quality in the midfield,Lo Celso and Ndombele can score goals o provide assist. Wanyama,Dier,Winks and Sissoko cannot score from outside the box even with an empty goal. For me these 4 players are not good enough. The same we can say for the fullbacks not good enough.

Look at Man City, David Silva,De Bruyne,Gundogan use to score,sometimes even Fernandinho. What I'm saying is we need more goals from them. It's not possible not got the target when you are a premier league player,especially when you play against teams that sit back and waiting to counter attack. I do love Winks but there are better players,that can help us reaching an another level.

2:07 Explosive midfield? Dier and Wanyama? Did you mean aggressive perhaps? Because explosive is not something I would use to describe those two. Dembele (or a player like him) is surely missed, specially seen in UCL final. Ndombele shows some signs to be that player, but not often enough.
And lack of ideas near opposition box was a problem already last half season.
Explosive in their play more than in their speed is what I think they meant. Able to meet the opposing midfield with direct tackles and challenges and quickly find an offensive player
the problem with rebuilding is the new players need time to adjust and in the prem the fans never give anyone time. chelsea fans were ready to sack joriginho and kovacic off but now they love them. if ndombele shows signs then praise him. praise the board for getting him. and support your fucking club for once.

Well its bit of both if you look at it in neutral way. They try playing counter from wing and then either cross to center or create hole in defensive line for a midfield to take advantage of. Unlucky for them their strike options are very limited and their ability to create good scoring chances is lower than expected. Kairi HD he’s been injured for over a month and will need time to adjust to the fitness levels required for the Premier League, as will Ndombele. Agreed that the two will eventually fill his role, but for now, we’ve had to make a lot of decisions we’ve not wanted to.

Ben Sanderson We definitely weren’t fine. Our Premier League form was atrocious, and if you watched us, we won games because we had to work way harder to create and convert chances. We also often bypassed our dead midfield to try and link up play between the forwards. Players can only sustain that type of play style for so long; a long-term replacement for Dembele is needed.

Sounds like a general 4-3-3 problem. It requires a tireless midfield and right/left backs that can attack and defend equally well.
I get the impression that Liverpool are also struggling with this system at the moment. The midfield is exhaused and teams have learned to expose the space behind the left/right backs.
This is exacerbated when teams setup deep, compact the midfield and play with fast wingers/forwards to break on the counter.
It will be interesting to see how Klopp evolves and I hope Tottenham can come up with something else.
I'm not an football expert but if the width covering is their main issue, wouldn't it be better if they mimick little of inter's 3-5-2 formation ?
I mean the 2 wide midfielders can fall back under pressure to form solid 5 men defense while 3 original defenders will strongly mark the opposition forwards....

•Spurs are highly dependent on full backs to push high up and create chances which is always risky and leave gaps
•Poch needs to get his tactics right, if you're using full backs to create chances why do we rarely see crosses coming in
• I rate winks highly as a player but he is more of a defensive minded and box to box midfielder and he can be the key player against certain highly attacking teams but why does poch start him every week against every kind of opposition
• Kane is another big issue as he barely gets involved in the game and we're basically playing with 10men as he just waits for the ball to fall under his feet, he needs to lose some weight and get involved in the build up more.
• Lo celso would be a key player in the midfield and will make things easier once he's back
• Poch is a good coach but he's never been a good tactician and he's too stubborn sometimes, he basically keeps asking the players to give 100% effort and play for the badge when the team loses , but players like winks lamela moura give everything on the pitch he can't always blame the players maybe his tactics are wrong too
• Finally, Alderwierald has been really poor along with eriksen and poch needs to stop playing them and we need to use Dele more and Dier too who has been really poor lately but Dier can be a huge asset if he's used properly.

Akshay V Jan has been worse than Toby, and Sanchez needs to bulk up because he is getting pushed around by nearly every opposing forward we face. Not to mention, Rose has zero confidence going forward these days and looks for the foul instead of trying to take on a defender. Really need Sessegnon and GLS to get fit, and need a RB and a centerback in January.

I think it's just the environment inside the club with everything that happened with Eriksen this summer is what's haunting them and I think the new players hasnt settle in yet and they haven't got used to what they play like because Spurs went years wihout signing players and that made players feel comfortable around each other and got used to how each others play and were comfortable their positions were safe.

I have not seen any neat quick interplay between the front 4 for many games. All I see is the midfield switching from one side to the other and in the end Rose, Aurier or sometimes Sissoko on the right would cross the ball in and head out by the opposition defender. We look the most dangerous when we have someone on the wing like Son or Lucas or Davies providing early LOW crosses with Kane, Dele and Eriksen in the centre. We look so labourious going forward and the front 4 looks like they just met each other yesterday.

@@umerwajih1576 An actual problem would be how we dominate possession but waste every opportunity in the final third because the wide players are content to play in a cross that never amounts to anything or bounces off a defender for a corner that also never amounts to anything. An actual problem would be how when we waste possession in the middle of the pitch because every time we run out of options progressing the ball, the default action is to play it back to Alderweireld who then makes some sort of absurd, long pass to someone wide who then wastes the chance with either a cross that amounts to nothing or a shot from the likes of Sissoko that has no chance of going in. Toby's ability to put the ball at his teammates' feet from half the pitch away is nice but it's something that is relied on way too much and is more effective when done sparingly because it catches the opposition by surprise. An actual problem is the fact that somehow we've managed to forget how to get the ball to Harry Kane's feet in the final third. He's amazing at getting off shots in tight spaces but he can't do that if all we ever do is cross the ball in. PL defenders are too big and too good for crossing constantly to be an effective means to score from, same with scoring from corners. An actual problem is that Poch is very questionable when it comes to making the right substitutions at the right time, especially after we concede in the second half. He leaves players out there when he should be bringing on someone fresh to liven things up in those situations.

Yeah, Alli should be used in a more consistent position. He was really good as a second striker at the beginning of last season.

Spurs haven't used wide midfielders for ages, their best football under Poch was when the full backs provided width.
Interesting video. From my perspective Pochettino’s lack of attacking strategy/ patterns of play is a problem. Spurs always have problem to break down deep defences, as alluded to in the video.
Relying on the players to come up with solutions requires extremely good and “creative” players. Further the players needs to be very familiar with each other. Even then it can be difficult.
A good coach would have ideas and give players options that involves more intricate manoeuvres to open up opportunities to score. That does not rely. Players knowing what to do takes away the need for them to be very “creative” and more advanced coordinated movements are possible. Likewise it does not as much rely on the same level of familiarity between players, allowing better for interchanging personnel.
This tactical shortcoming will always limit Poch as long as other coaches/managers do not have the same simple attacking way. E.g. as long as Guardiola is in the same division he will not manage to challenge.
I also wonder if the more experienced players have also realised Pochs limitations and therefore lost faith in his ability. Which is at the heart of why several are looking to leave.
Regardless of the reason for the disconnect between players and manager, the only way forward is with a new manager. Hopefully the club has scouted advanced managers playing a modern football, including attacking strategy. Maybe Ten Hag could be an option, but likely not mid-season.
All this being said in October is actually funny, sometimes teams start slow, spurs lost 13 times last season yet still finished top4, spurs and Chelsea will be top4 again
It's not funny. Problem is not the start, but the whole playstyle for more than half a year now. This is not top4 quality at the moment. Personally I thought this as make or break year for Spurs. How long will Kane, Son, Alli, Weireld stay there?

The problem is the usage of the diamond. That formation is better used with a guy like benzema, not a propper CAM. Also in dfence they should play like a 4-3-3 and in atack switch to the diamond.

Poch seems to like formations with a 10 behind 2 ST (3-4-1-2 last ss). Probably due to the lack of real wingers who actually stay wide. Spurs' wide areas are mostly occupied by FBs, who can't cross. Trippier's dip in form clearly affected Spurs last ss, and now he's gone.
I have already told you, Pochettino's Tottenham does better when certain players are strategically injured...when Pochettino has the full complement of the squad he doesn't do so well because he tends to rotate too much and play his favourite players more ahead of more deserving players like Son, Ndombele and Lucas. It is also stupid of him to play Winks in the deeper role as he is not a natural holding midfielder!

In my humble opinion i think they need to move away from Harry Kane. We cant avoid the fact that he is quite a selfish player, he is content with finishing 3rd every year so long as he scored 30+ goals and wins a golden boot of some sort. He limits their play, the team is set up around him, i think if he goes then a new more athletic attacking concept based mainly around son and in rotation with lucas would do the club wonders. Just my opinion.

Can Spurs fans explain to me why Harry Winks keeps playing at the base? His passing is very unimaginative. I remember Spurs when Dier was screening the back four, he always zipped those passes in between the lines for a quick transition. Also Spurs are missing Dembele’s ability to break the lines. I think the best option for Poch would be to return to a 3-5-2. Defensive solidity in the wide-zones, constant width. Alli can stay high up close to goal and Eriksen would have enough protection to dictate play from deep. It was a winning formula for Poch a few seasons ago. Not sure why he was so keen on tinkering with it.

Tottenham have insufficient full back quality to compete at the highest level. Aurier and Rose are constantly at fault for teams counter attacking against Tottenham.
Harry Winks has crumbled in the new formation, that is not only defensive midfield heavy (which is why we lost to Colchester), but lacks a creative spark.
There is also the problem of players are either not good enough, or don't want to be there. Players who have been there for seasons are not putting in the effort because they don't have to, to get first team football.
Poch refusing to change his tactics is down to an ageing team that no longer presses with pace, this means he has to go out and purchase already proven players in the transfer market, If his interview comments about not buying in January are anything but a negotiation tactic we are truly screwed.
The Key areas Poch needs to change are full back and a new CB (Sanchez is just not good enough). He needs to get rid of any 30+ players and buy world class centre backs. He must also get rid of Lamela (who is only a cult hero), he needs to go back in for Bruno Fernandes and meet the players valuation. beg dybala to come.
And most of all DROP HARRY KANE. START MOURA AND SON. He may have an ageing squad but harry Kane has been missing, yet he does nothing to improve it. Son is the best player we have not harry Kane
I mean Son hasn't been that good either. Half the team wants to leave. The team's creative engine wants out. The two world class center backs want to leave, your left back wants out and your right back isn't good enough.
Poch has lost his players. While he as good as the other world class coaches, Pep, Klopp or Conte, he's been dropping his player and losing them.
Kane is probably the best striker in England's last two decades. He is also 26, and at his worst form, he's the 3rd best striker in the world. I recon he can go for 150 mil. Maybe sell him to some team and build a more balanced squad?
@aljanat5 arguably ndombele is his replacement i think he needs time to adapt, he deserves it. He has had some stand out moments and is getting used to the league. I like the hungry players more and would be happy to watch them play but we would be setting up to lose. We need better players, but i agree i would rather watch troy parrot that eriksen play

Well, the good thing about being down under is that the only way to go is up.
The midfield is tactically and technically inept, we don't have skilled deep lying midfielders who play good and quick passes, I.e Modric Dembele Scott Parker ect Ndombele is suppose to be that guy. Eriksen should have been converted into a modric for spurs as we have too attacking third players . I e Lamela son Lucas alli lo celso. We should signed Van de beek and reboot from PSG instead of wasting that money on sessengon and ndombele. Last Summer Eriksen should have been sold and van de beek reboot and hakiim ziyech should of been on the transfer list. Spurs will comfortably finished in the top 4 if were within 3 point from 4th or 3rd we'll see the rest of the season out
Ndombele is still early to call I thonk he'll be good and when Lo Celso comes in that will realy help. I rate Winks but not every game and what qe lack is a destroyer and fullbacks
That midfield three doesn't quite make sense, none of the three players in it seem to be natural in those positions. Winks alongside Sissoko could work in a double pivot, Ndombele alongside Dier could work too - but despite everything Spurs seem to still be lacking a suitably combative defensive midfielder to play alongside a ball player or dribbler.

Many teams play with 4 at the back and a midfield 3, and many of them have done it successfully without playing with a physical midfield destroyer/high energy midfield football, like Barcelona or Man city during their injury woes for example. The explanation feels hollow in the sense that no reason was found as to why Spurs in particular are unable to manage to find the balance in their defensive base, when many others have.

main problems as a spurs fan
1. Lloris. He's not good with his feet and we want to play the ball from the back. Can't teach an old dog new tricks. Needs to stick with what he can do.
2. our Full backs. Poor. Ben Davies is shit... Rose will get out muscled, fall on the floor and not track back. On the opposite side we have 3 RBs with all different issues. 3. Creativity in midfield. We have a problem transitioning from mid to fw. Winks plays the ball sideways a lot... Eriksen hasnt been what he was and our other mids have been playing deeper and more defensive. Ndombele is the only player ive seen doing this but hes been in and out the team.
4. Due to the midfield not transitioning the ball, Kane has been dropping deeper into the mid to collect the ball and cant get to the positions he needs to be in to finish.
Those are the main reasons as well as heavy rotation between a group of players who havent been good enough.
If Sessegnon can come in after getting fit and show his worth it will be a difference maker. Also Lo Celso who had a good scoring record playing in the middle behind the attackers in la liga.
We are desperate for a confident starting RB and no disrespect to Lloris but the last 2 seasons hes been pretty bad. His distribution is really poor and i've seen him kick the ball out of play so many times when he could of made it much easier for himself but decided he wants to try have some touches on the ball and brings pressure into himself. Great shot stopper when he wants but i feel like he isnt what he was.
I think the problem of totenham is team atmosphere. fundamentally, Eriksen doesn't want to stay in totenham. So Eriksen doesn't have a mitivation. So then the atmosphere of team collapses.

It's a combined pace issue and nobody ever mentions it. Eriksen, Alli, Winks, Kane, Dier, Lamela are very slow in relation to the modern Prem. You can be amazing players like Kane but if most of the spine or his attacking partners are slow you run up against physics. We have a handful of fast players and it's not enough. It's been a recent CURSE that cost us trophies. Soldado, Jansen, Llorente, Fazio, Foyth etc etc. Slooooooooowwwwwwww.

I think Kane actually hinders spurs. He's got a good shot but isn't quick and pacy. I'd much rather see son and lucas up top versus a point striker kane.

They need a back three if they're playing without wingers
Like something like a 3 5 2 with with a diamond in the midfield and 2 offensive fullbacks/ defensive wingers . Something like pep likes to use. So if they under pressure the formation will move to a 5 4 2 (fullbacks/wingers dropping back and the "cam" dropping back too, a role DA would fit perfectly. I could also imagine that both CDMs would drop into the back and both wingers would tuck in. But I think that would require to complex movement

the problem with spurs is far deeper then just tactics .
firstly our manger have a habit of making good players go out of form by not playing them.
he plays players in wrong position alot of the time .
motivation to play under him is gone his demanding manager and thats a problem even in real life u cant work under that constant pressure without major rewards so pay the players more or win trophies .
i think its time spurs by players that have won in there careers and manger thats a proven winner.
