  • A deep vinyasa flow without music, so you can listen to the rhythm of your own breath. Vinyasa yoga is about bringing awareness deep into the body and allowing the breath to resound. Practice with an open heart. Rejoice in what the body can do.

WOW. I'm a bit blown away by this one. Not sure if it's because I've now done a few of Ty's classes on UA-cam, but I really started to feel the groove of Ty's take on the standing sequence of Ashtanga and how much better it feels in my body than the way I normally do it (the traditional Ashtanga way). It's not just the flowing nature of it - it's how the progressions of the postures within the flow adds strength and balance - for ex, things like moving from trikonasana to ardha chandrasana, or his variation of parshvakonasana (I think he called it dwi konasana?) --> bind --> bound ardha chandrasana adds strength in the hamstrings & glutes & the balancing nature of it focuses the mind. the folding over the leg after each sequence before stepping back progressively opens hamstrings as well. I could go on and on here about how this sequencing is just so intelligent and intuitive. Doing the very cool pigeon variation and 'backpack' lift BEFORE eka pada (and the compass) 100% made sense to prep the body for eka - engaging core and opening hip/hamstring. Loved the hip flexor/quad stretches before the backbends - felt AMAZING in all of the backbends today, including drop backs.
HIGHLY recommend to people who are familiar with Ashtanga primary & intermediate & a bit of advanced. This really gets you to think about how maybe... things should be more flexible/evolve. I mean, shouldn't the sequences evolve with time/need of the student? Shouldn't there be room to play/do what is necessary to connect (to body/self/others)? Why should we stick with just doing the Ashtanga traditional sequences? It's not like they were divinely passed down to the Jois family - they were developed over time at the Institute, through trial and error, and influence of who just happened to be there. They were 'set' not because they're perfect, but to adapt to an increasing number of students - there simply was not time to give each student individual attention/modifications/sequences to suit their needs. ANYWAY.
For my body anyway - this just makes so much sense and I'm feeling very inspired and open to continue playing around outside the 'traditional' sequences.
I'm very much looking forward to Ty's sequences that will be released this summer apparently!

Thanks for that practice. I can only try some parts of some of the asanas but after that practice I feel so much better!

Amazing, truly. I feel like flying or being elevated when I finish your classes. The only issue I have is that my arms are too short to be able to do certain poses 🤭 and certain poses I won't ever be able to do because they are so painful. I have also noticed that when I'm balancing, I need to breathe with less intensity otherwise I keep falling. Interesting. Thank you so much! Hope you will share more 🙏♥️♥️

Thank you Ty, this vinyasa was pretty intense. I noticed how you kind of fix the beginning and the end of the practice but as we reach the top of energy you let more freedom and creativity in the asanas to come. The practice itself feels like a big wave.

Thank you for these in depth practices free of charge. Would you say that this is more "advanced" as well?

Thank you Ty, this practice has been a good milestone in my yoga adventure, I need to work on hanumanasana and ekarnadhanurasana as they’re both very new to me. Where are you filming from? It sounds like Vayu is moving strongly out there 🌬️

Ty how can I directly jump into 2 hour long practice without having practiced some of asanas ever before? I want to practice with you and learn from you🙏

      Hi Philip,
Most of the asanas you know. Take the others easily, and let them slowly reveal themselves to you. 🙏🏽
