    I'm back at Bigfoot Lake camping in the XJ for two nights. I've brought my paddle boat and my legs to get out and see more of this beautiful location. I'm pretty sure bigfoot was watching me, especially when I took a dump around the back of the cabin. But regardless this is a really nice place and I will definitely come back here in the winter, maybe on the snowmobile.
    I also tell the story of what happened to me six years ago when I had a strange encounter in the wilderness.
    Thanks for watching!
    Mike

      It's really no fair cause bigfoot has so many places to hide and watch while we go about our business, I guess sometimes even bigfoot needs the entertainment, thanks for the inside scoop!

      when the bigfoot saw the XJ he didn't attack because he remained stunned.
      Anyway, I recently had some problems with the oil pressure on my TD XJ, I think the pump is saying goodbye, do you have any idea on where I can find a new one?

    Hey Mike, thanks for sharing your story from 6 years ago! My partner and I have both worked in the woods and have had some really spooky, hard to explain experiences out in the middle of nowhere, particularly when you are literally off the beaten path without a road/trail in sight. This video really resonated with us, not just the story but the hiking up in the middle of nowhere just to see what's there---that's exactly what my partner and I do 99% of the time when we're out in the woods, and we've definitely come across areas that just make your skin crawl, the hair on the back of your neck stand up or just give you that gut feeling that says that this isn't a place to linger. Definitely had some weird, unexplainable things happen too. But I guess the key is to not let your mind go completely crazy with it, otherwise you'd scare yourself shitless and never go back to the woods, right? It's rare we ever see/hear/come across anyone who actually talks about any of this stuff, so it was good to hear in your video. It sometimes feels like a lot of people these days (at least the people we seem to have around here) either are too oblivious or completely ignore that gut instinct and wind up getting themselves into deep shit.
    Anyway, that was a long-winded way to say thanks for the video! It's really nice to hear someone else talk about the things we find ourselves trying to talk to other people about only to get blank looks or like we've completely lost our minds. Beautiful area, always great to see your videos regardless of what you're up to. Strange question--how do you freeze your fish?

    Great use for the chainsaw bag Mike, spot on! Just got back into off trail hiking and enjoy watching that side too. Defo something in that story, believe the past informs the present, maybe it doesn’t have to stay that way…🤔 I wore a NZ carved bone necklace for years that I bought at some markets in Sydney. People literally stopped me in the street to ask how I got it. A friend pointed out that it was not for me to wear by custom. When she took it back to NZ some health niggles cleared up… glad you survived the friendly call of 🦶 once again… though it would be entertaining! 😂

    • @WorkshoptoWilderness
      @WorkshoptoWilderness  20 днів тому

      Ah, no way, that's really odd. Clearly, some miss matching going on with the vibrations of the necklace. You just never know!
      The chainsaw bag has been really useful as a kit bag. The boat fits great, also the awning room in winter. I don't have a chainsaw, but if I did, then I think it would be used for that. Thanks for watching, and I hope your keeping well!

    hey mike long follower here and really love what you are doing. I actually have a story myself from Sweden as i am a European that camped in Sweden often with my wife. It was the first year we came to Sweden to road trip and camp in our tent. We were set up in an open area for logging trucks to turn around somewhere in the middle of Sweden. We sat by the fire just chatting somewhere around 11pm and hared like a fairly big animal walking through the forest quite close to us and it was like huffing on every step it took and it actually freaked us out pretty much, so i took my shovel that i always pack to go to the bathroom in the forest and kill fireplaces and bashed it on a rock to scare it away. By the sound of it we thought it being a bear but we never actually saw it. But being the first time in Sweden it scared my wife enough to sleep that night in the car haha.

    Great story and video, I have seen deadfalls travel in some crazy ways before and I have crept up pretty close to deer before they have spooked, so I am inclined to think of nothing more than that. great to get out, you should try bottling the fish you catch rather than freezing them, I find the oils in salmon and trout don't freeze well and change the taste of the fish, almost a rancid taste.

    • @WorkshoptoWilderness
      @WorkshoptoWilderness  22 дні тому

      I will try out the potting method. I appreciate the tip! I don't catch much salmon here, unfortunately. Trout and Greyling I do so I can test it with them. I'm sure it was just dead fall and some strange coincidences. It certainly doesn't stop me getting out there

    What a fascinating story. So, was there absolutely no way a large piece of dead fall could have fallen from a nearby tree? If not, then it would have had to have been thrown or launched, either way that suggests something other than regular wildlife. It would be so cool to see that area via your drone for more context and potentially further investigation.

    If you had one of the batteries under the rear seat AGM and the other a heat-pad-equipped lithium battery, the AGM one could keep the lithium one warm and then you'd also have double the draw from the lithium vs. second AGM. Draw your house load from the lithium side and just keep the AGM battery charged as needed.

    • @WorkshoptoWilderness
      @WorkshoptoWilderness  2 місяці тому

      I'm personally just sticking with AGM for safety and reliability. My kids sit on them. The AGM batteries are much safer, plus they don't need heat pads and can discharge and charge below -25c. I only run a 12v system, so I just don't need lithium. The downside of my choice is weight of course.

      I was always pretty keen on Yorkshire Tea, but these days, I'm more of a loose tea guy like Twinings English Breakfast.

    What you experienced was probably an old silverback gorilla escaped from a travelling turn-of-the-century circus, made angry by mosquitos. Throwing stuff is classic alpha behaviour in apes when establishing territory, technically speaking it screwed up by throwing a tree instead of a pile of its own shit, so I think you got off lucky.

    What a playground you’ve got there Mike. If you run into Bigfoot, I hope he has the decency to spit on the end of it first.
