you should see flashgitz spaceking pilot.
This video is worth watching it's Warhammer still 30k ua-cam.com/video/Cj3ENSVogTo/v-deo.htmlsi=Oj2Jlt58QEkq78tm
Maybe the Juno Canon simulation fight in FF between Sephiroth and the two soldiers.
I highly recommend the cinematic reveal trailer for Farcry 6. But coupled with that, the intro for Farcry 6. The trailer is great, but the intro I feel is phenomenal.
Witcher 3 Trailers are great too. The Story ones
The "Eagle? Falcon?" is the Imperial Aquila. It is double headed with a single eye looking left. This represents the Imperium being blind to the mistakes (and lessons!) of the past, looking forward only. It was The Emperors personal heraldry and was awarded to the Emperor's Children legion to wear as an honour. Nowadays it is a symbol for the Imperium of Mankind.
And try not too think to hard about cherubim being dead babies converted into mini helper robots. They freaked the primarch Roboute Guilliman out when he came back, and he has seen some shit.
i blieve the cherubs have been retconned into being stillborn clones
still pretty fucked up though
Well, the cherubabies are now vatgrown babies, so there are not dead babies, just clone.
This whole video is outdated. Nowadays Space Marines wear dresses into battle.
Regarding the Emperor's Children, they were awarded the honor of wearing a certain TYPE of Aquilla, the Palatine Aquilla. The normal Aquilla was used by just about everyone after the Unification Wars.
@@magnusmaximus1415 Just as with Servitors, some are vatgrown, others are repurposed humans.
Yes, this came out well after Astartes. This came out in 2022, same year as the Horus Heresy trailer, and I do believe this was fairly overshadowed by that. Understandably.
The babies are Cherubs, they are essentially just drones with slightly more function than servo skulls. They are largely created from vat grown babies that have no conscious, though there are instances of Imperial citizens offering their dead children to the Imperium, as you potentially don't want to bury your baby on a world that has tyranids, Orks, or a Deamonic incursion. Not that you really have any kind of chance of surviving any of those situations as a regular human.
Cherubs are largely used in special rituals and ceremonies, such as this, they have a lot of use with planetary governors where they will usually carry/hold symbols of heraldry. As far as I know, they cannot be weaponized, but someone has probably tried.
at 15:20 -ish, yes he is a Tech Priest. And he is powerful, in a way. He's leading the chant that the others are maintaining to awaken the Machine Spirit and appease the machine spirit within the marine's armor, as the marine says when his power pack is connected to his armor, the detail in his eyes shows that there is a very active change, implying that the Machine Spirit in his armor has awakened. His mouth moving is potentially just him adjusting to the armor, as it has been blessed.
Though, the chanting is more to coax it into awakening, the incense being burned is more to put it in an agreeable state as they beg it to grant its blessing to the marine's armor
oh wow, good catch. I didn't notice his lenses widening after the power pack starts up the armor.
For a final comment you nailed it, space marines have a “black carapace” under their skin that interacts with that black muscle fiber bundle and drives the armor connecting it to their central nervous system. Pretty great story telling that from the implants, the look of the under-suit, the fiber bundles tightening and one line of dialogue you knew exactly what you were seeing.
It is always such a pleasure to se someone passionate talk about what they are passionate about. It shows. The little details that you catch right away that I haven't notice after 10 views.
I am not a cinematographer, I am not in the film industry, but the way that you bring us into that world every time is something I crave more and more. Please, keep up the great work, no you're not bothering us showing the same 1,2 seconds 10 times so we can clearly see what you want us to notice. I am like a kid discovering something new every time.
Thank you Kai!
Thank you so much for watching and letting me know, amazing to hear!
For me its the sheer size of the bolter that stands out. The thing is enormous, it truly shows just how much an astartes is elevated above a normal human.
Meanwhile Sisters of Battle one hand those things.....
@@Amiko-do4djSoB bolters are smaller.
@@xtravagentk1275 So The Empire of Man can miniaturize the same firepower?
@@Amiko-do4dj they aren't the same
@@Amiko-do4dj Not hard to look it up if you don’t know. SoB use a bolter developed for normal humans.
As a big WH40k fan, I love watching you break these down. I go back and rewatch your Astartes video regularly. I'm glad you enjoy it as much as I do!
Yes, it is an eagle. It's called the Aquila Imperialis or Imperial Aquila. Like many empires, they are copying Rome. Some of the servitors make the aquila with their hands too, their fingers are the wings and their thumbs are the two heads. It is the 40k setting's version of doing the cross.
I'm positive people have said this before. But StarCraft was supposed to be a Warhammer 40K game. But the deal with Games Workshop didn't go as planed so Blizzard decided to go their own route and make a story and universe of their own. Therefor the super similar aspects.
Yeah it's an odd one, ex gw staff and ex blizzard staff have both said that this was the case that starcraft was meant to be a warhammer game, but something happend and the deal ended. Though both GW and blizzard deny this, Blizzard even more so. I also find it interesting that Andy Chambers one of the most famous people in warhammer 40k, one of the lead writers and worked on the early editions of the game, went on to be lead writer for starcraft 2 wings of liberty!
@@AnubisX1 StarCraft was never supposed to be a Warhammer 40k game. People just confuse it with how very early on in the development of the original WarCraft, a team member proposed that they make a Warhammer Fantasy Battles game, but GW wasn't that interested and the rest of the Blizzard team wasn't too keen on making a licensed game because they had been burned doing that in the past.
StarCraft was always its own thing. The similarity between the two that everybody obsesses over is the fact that Terran Marines have big pauldrons on their armour and that was a last minute addition in late 1997/early 1998 (StarCraft released in March of 1998). The Terran Marine sprite (called the Marauder at this point, presumably as a reference to Starship Troopers) didn't have any large sections to apply team colour to so they gave the sprite big pauldrons to apply colour to. You can even see in one of the cinematics in the original game (Battle on the Amerigo) that the pauldrons are just kind of floating over top of the shoulders of the armour and aren't attached properly.
In 1998, the Zerg and the Tyranids were completely different visually and only really came to resemble each other when GW did the big Tyranid redesign after StarCraft came out. Even then, that was more than likely pure coincidence because Blizzard and GW were both very obviously taking inspiration from the xenomorph designs from the Alien films.
oh yes the famous lie of the old forum from wh fans who most of the fandom believed ignorantly without investigating and even content creators believed making all of them ignorant and toxics. The truth is that was never a contract or deal between GW and Blizzard to make a warhammer game and no, starcraft dont have to do with 40k since 40k born as a parody of everything famous of the 80s and even recicles elements of fantasy to space. Dont be ignorant and stupid.

@@XanderTuron the only relation between gw and blizzard is that one of the artistic team inspired from the art of fantasy, however this doesnt mean anything since is art and GW didnt create any concept of fiction.
both companies had been inspired from dune, starshiptroopers, ender game the novel, DND, lord of the rings and other sources to make their universes of fiction.
You started a journey into the endless warp when you watched & broke down your first WH40K video, welcome to the club brother, we're glad to have you along for the journey, load that bolter rifle & march on. Always enjoy seeing your reactions & breakdowns on gaming franchises.
When the backpack connects and think he's speaking, you can see his pupils dillate as the armor awakes and links into his nervous system and starts feeding info to his brain.
I'm not into cinema but man I could learn if you taught me. Your explanations are easily digestible.
Thank you fella! That's how I like to teach, make it relatable and easy. No one needs silly over complicated words/sentences. It means a lot you saying that, thank you again. Kai
Watching your videos is always so informative it's like a whole lesson in filming and cinematography, genuinely feel I learn alot and makes me appreciate how much thought goes into filmmaking. Thank you!
not only did this trailer come out after astartes, it might have come out after the creator of Astartes was employed by GW so he may have added some spice to this trailer
Or may be this is just a dream of a dog...Because it's 100% for sure that some dogs had dreams before this trailer came out [shrug]
@@ardour1587 right, or we could try to analyze the style and find similarities. For instance the pacing of the editing.
@@TheGallantDrake Mhm...and it's not similar in any way. Astartes was a bit "rough" in way. He was cutting things a bit untraditionaly. Especially closer to the end with a segment with psyker. It was a bit messy. I mean the guy is awesome an all that, but it is abvious he is not a pro. I know I'm supposed to simp for him how he "made all hollywood shy" or something but c'mon...
@@ardour1587I mean when you consider he was doing 5 people's jobs if not more, the roughness is understandable. I imagine a pretty sizeable team worked on this trailer and it had multiple people greenlight it at various stages before it was released
@@MrXdawg I don't think that statement about 5 people's job is relevant because he wasn't under any time pressure. One of reasons why you have different people doin different tasks is because they usually work for some corporate entity where time itself is an expansive resourse and you are allways preassured by it.
One of my favourites.
When it came out I was rewatching it quite a few times.
I became cery interested in WH40k after Astartes, but this one made me look into the lore even more detailed.
And thanks for your breakdown here. Most of your explanations made me understand why scenes felt like they felt to me, which I didn't really think about at first. And your videos help in that way very much ^^
Also, I just saw I seemed to have missed your last two/three videos? Hope that was just a one time thing and not that your channel might got struck by the bad luck UA-cam algorithm : |
I mean, I did subscribe, so I don't miss anything, but I also don't check YT every day and go through my sub tab and check everything, but still.
Anyway, good video, always a pleasure to watch and listen to you.
Already looking forward to the next one.
(and also, once again, do For Honor next please : P)
You realising they're babies cracked me up haha
Love how the Cherubs are freaking him out 😂
At this point I'm sort of shocked you still haven't reacted to The Lord inquisitor prologue.
You are in for a treat
Or the Martyr trailer.
Told you this one is a banger the way they build it up to the end very slowly.
Tons of amazing informations ! thank you
Your breakdowns make me a better minipainter, great great explanations of light and shadow
The Cherubs are cyborg cloned babies. They are arguably slightly more creepy than the flying skull drones.
The cherubs at the end weren't moving in slow motion. The wings they have are decorative. They fly with the same anti-grav technology as the servitor skulls.
They may not move in slow motion in the world of warhammer but in this cinematic when they arrive, the frame rate changed for a few shots making it slower (slow motion). Kai
I've been waiting for this for a very long time
About the studs on the forehead, many have different opinions about them but I think mine is more reasonable, I got it from the very old codexes. A silver stud means 25 years and a golden stud means a 100 years.
Some say the silver stud means 10 years but in my opinion, the space marine forehead would look like a xilophone. Though 50 years for a silver one would be reasonable but the problem is we see space marines with more then one silver stud. So I think 25 and 100 years are a good call.
Maybe 50 years for a silver stud, and after they have three of those they start exchanging them for gold ones every 50 years. For example
1 silver = 50
2 silver = 100
3 silver = 150
1 gold and 2 silver = 200
2 gold and 1 silver = 250
3 gold = 300
And if you live for 350 years then you don't need any more studs because you better be well known by then
@@MrGBH Maybe... But it seems more complicated.
The problem with the studs is that Dante have too many of them. 🤣
Hey Kai, Love the content and the informative insights. i think you would be amazed by the Star Wars Eclipse reveal Trailer, the quality is amazing with a lot of fine details that show the dedication and passion behind the project
I'll have to check it out, you've sold me on it!
Hey I know this isn't related to this video but there are things called "terminals" in Halo CE and Halo 2 (as well as other Halo games but not all of them) that have video and audio that go deeper into the lore. Each level has one just like it has cut-scenes. I think there are extras for playing on legendary. But you should check them out! It would make a solid video. I have one in mind in Halo CE about Keyes that is just disturbing. But its written and choreographed in such a way that it forces you to feel horror in a game not know for horror. I'd say use anniversary graphics but OG are good too
love it
you should checkout the fan animation Death of Hope for me still the best made of the fan films (you won't understand much of the story but the animation is stunning)
Hey Kai. As far as I'm aware this video IS from the creator of Astardes. He was picked up by Games Workshop, and all of a sudden they started getting these amazing videos. Any way thats what I heard in the interwebs. another great video man Cheers!
And that is just the normal Armor :) W40 is sooo deep in all aspects.
I work in investment banking, I should be hammering out new cash flows today and Kai being so into this has me busting out the airbrush to finish my Ultramarines. Well done sir.
How about any of the death stranding or death stranding 2 trailers
I think it would be fascinating to hear a filmmaker's reaction to the 'Gears of War UE Cutscenes.' The game boasts a compelling story with enjoyable characters, and some of the shot compositions and techniques, like the use of shaky handheld movements, are quite intriguing.
It's on my list to cover soon so stay tuned but thank you anyways for the recommendation!
This scene is illuminated by the Light of the Emperor.
now we wait for the leviathan reaction
This one cinematic trailer got me really creeped out by those Cherubs
Just get a browser add on that removes the end cards from UA-cam videos.
Ultramarines only have vanilla ice cream.
I wonder if they were going for "GrimDark" 😂 it's subtle but noticeable ...
I would say GreenDark instead looking at the colour palette.
@@kaizammit ha! True. I know very little about this lore, but I've heard they really liked the idea of this brutal and often ugly future. Quite the juxtaposition from Star Trek, eh?
praise be to space king!!
Why not take look at the short movie “Watermelon Girl” by SouthernShotty. He made it alone, learned blender to make it. Took him 5 years to finish it.
That sounds like it's worth a watch! Do you think other viewers would like it?
Would be cool if you reacted to the live-action warhammer film Chaos Rising!
There's a live action movie?
The emperor protects! The dawn of war clips are cool, the first one is defo an old school cinematic, and Dawn of war 2 gets more serious, with dawn of war 3 is very sombre just very sad it was such a bad game, in reality the dev team never actually wanted to make Dawn of war 3 but had to at segas insistence. They wanted to do company of hero's, as by that point all the og dow team had left Relic. It's a sad ending to one of the best RTS series. It's sad in that it was the last we heard of thr blood ravens. The mysterious space marine chapter created by relic for the games and became canon by GW. They pretty much haven't been heard from again in the setting since Dawn of war 3.
Also I would highly recommend the Total warhammer 3 trailers starting of with the immortal empires trailer. It's all in game but gives you goosebumps(well it gives me them). There is a new cinematic trailer for the next edition of warhammer age of sigmar which is pretty good.
HEY YOU SHOULD WATCH THE TRANSFORMERS FALL OF CYBERTRON TRAILER, ITS SOOOO GOOD!!!😁😁😁
it is me that give me Starcraft 2 feel
Cherubs... oh cherubs....
Hey Kai I have a good one for you, react to one of the best intro's to a cult classic game called "Left for dead"
Take a shot when Kai says "look at this shit" in a wh40k breakdown 🌚
Oh boy, I'm so sorry, you must be drunk as hell!?
@@kaizammit a bit🌚
Thanks for the video. The trailer was probably so well done I didnt notice most of the stuff you have pointed out, I was simply watching it silent
I'm glad you enjoyed it, I really appreciate you watching and giving me your time. Kai
I haven’t watched this but I bet he says how filming from below shows power
Probably say it at least once, I know I talk about lighting a texture more in this one whilst not trying to cream my pants with excitement. Should I not say shooting from below shows power?
@@kaizammit no definitely keep saying it! I just found it funny in the halo ones as it turned into something I kept waiting to hear 🤣
the servitors are the nastiest and most ghastly part of this whole thing, criminals sentenced to be the programming for some machine
Those babies are what's called cherubs.
Quite possibly the most messed up crap in 40K.
It's been made after Astartes
If you want to see some more badass shite then watch Pariah Nexus
witcher cinematic
I fucking love how you swear when you get excited about something. It never not makes me laugh. Like the "Fucking noggin." comment lol.
You know me so well! Haha
Startcraft was actually supposed to be a Warhammer 40K game they just couldn't get the rights from games workshop
Warhammer total war trailer when?
For the "servitor", i think that they are in reality technomate or low ranking adeptus mechanicus, servitor are normaly braindead people transformed into machine, and i doubt that they are able to do the aquila.
if you cover the last of us, maybe as a lets play. i will buy the sweatshirt and sub on patreon
Making me work eh.
@@kaizammit it’s worth it. The story is written perfect
The Witcher cinematics are worth a look, in my opinion.
Those are lobotomized babies🙃
Then theirs the female Custodians. Breaks the immersion of 40k lol
The helmet in this annoys me. Everything in warhammer says the helmet is one piece like a motorcycle helmet. Models, books, and lore all say they are one piece and can easily be removed. This helmet definitely can't be taken off easily
❤ witcher 3 cinematic ❤
