Thank you for your content!
The Halo 3 Believe commercial campaign is a masterclass , the whole point is to show us what masterchief means to humanity, its what the Halo tv show wanted to be haha
Its a collection of videos that covers the whole marketing before the game, watching the collection is highly advised! Especially the long one with the diorama
16:10 it was a bg on my desktop for years 😂
To me, Halo 3 still holds the place for the best advertisement campaign in video game history. Every trailer and piece of content put out to hype us up was masterclass.
Master(chief)class.
Had to do it.
Nah, ODST hands down had the best advertising.
Yes, the Believe ad campaign with the war memorial, interviews with veterans, and diorama was insanely good, genuinely some of the best advertisements for a game ever. I also remember seeing this ad in a move theater in the previews before the movie, it was so cool at the time
@@Maverick9k I can hardly remember ODST ads unfortunately. But reiterating what the poster above me said, the "Believe" ads coupled with that live action short film were incredible.
@@TheHammerofDissidence we are odst trailer, still the best Live action trailer ever, the ViDoc, firefight trailer.
“You ever wonder what’s up there? We’ve all had those conversations.”
“Why are we here? I mean, here. In this canyon.”
It's one of life's great mysteries, isn't it?
@@buddabro6722 I mean.... why are any of us here?
You've been riding around in the Puma again huh
@@Lastashio It needs headlight fluid.
red vs blue
Bungie's "Believe" ad campaign prior to H3's release is also definitely worth a watch.
I've seen it fella, it's on Patreon as it was a patron request.
Ugh I always get teary eyed with the “I think so.. don’t you?” Going into the screeching mortar fire on chiefs helmet UGH! I miss those days
And now we have half-assed nostalgia bait and a store urging you to buy the color blue for $8 that is locked to that armor piece. How the mighty have fallen
This was actually a Super Bowl commercial if I’m not heavily mistaken. Awesome. 😂🔥
Basketball game. I remember having to sit through that game just for the ad. 😂
Halo 3's marketing was possibly the best the industry has ever seen!
2 that all these years later stick with me are one that was a Diorama of a battle that they actually made irl that ends with a tiny bit of stop motion!
The other(s) were irl sort of interviews with surviving Veteran Marines of the War against the Covenant! They talk about a battle they fought, handle old weapons, struggle with momentary PTSD remembering things, talk about the Chief and it's SOOOOOO emotional to watch. They make me believe these men fought in a war that never actually happened, truly masterful!
Really hope to see those covered!
I've covered the believe documentary video fella, it's available on my patreon, it was a patron request.
@@kaizammit Oh nice! Might have to pop in there at some point then!
You’re able to give a 20+ minute very detailed breakdown on a sub 3 minute commercial. That is very impressive sir I love it.
This is my favourite Halo trailer hands down!
I'll be honest, I think it could be mine too. Actually, this for CGI and Halo 3: ODST for live action. Thank you so much for watching!!
10:46 at first i was like "how much can a blink change a head turn?" turns out a lot. it changes a lot lmao
I think that final shot is supposed to be from the perspective of the Brute Chieftain that we see when Chief jumps over the ledge. His foot comes down, right onto its face, to cover the camera and end the trailer
Chief *could* win that encounter, but it would be very very hard.
Assuming he's able to take out the chieftain immediately thanks to surprise, he has 13 Bodyguard-rank brutes to fight off. Extremely hard fight, but not far off the encounter he wins in the shield control tower on the Arc. Especially since they seem poorly equipped with only spikers (deadly, but basically handguns by brute standards), the presence of a Chieftain wielding only his hammer, and the general grouping we see here, this unit seemed to be essentially the equivalent of an artillery group with an officer overseeing it.
The wraiths wouldn't matter much since he's already so close. Wraiths are specifically artillery with huge areas of effect, and brutes won't just blast their own packmates. They could be incredibly deadly, but their turrets designed for scenarios like this seem to all be unoccupied at the moment, and Chief would likely prioritize taking down any of the brutes who try to get in them. While some wraiths have pilot-controlled turrets too, these wraiths are the models that don't.
Very very hard fight. Smart and experienced brutes are brutal to combat. But this scenario is seemingly perfectly built to give Chief every advantage he needs.
It's easy for people who only play the games to forget, but Brutes are generally brutal (wink) even for spartans. They're usually only held back from being major threats since the Covenant promoted the dumb ones (for control) and they almost always have way less advanced tech. The only times we ever see brutes fight on properly equal terms they become incredibly deadly. Smart and competent ones can very reasonably take on a spartan + several ODSTs or even small spartan teams and be very very very dangerous, even causing spartan casualties.
16:00 its like the camera orbiting him and coming off its axis is him being shellshocked, disorientated. Once the camera levels out, sounds comes back, our and chiefs focus is on the weapon, the job at hand. god i love watching your vids.
react to "halo 3 believe campaign (full- all interviews)", that video is an absolute masterpiece and without a doubt one of the best set of promotional videos made for any video game ever.
Already have fella, it's on Patreon. It was a Patreon request.
That halo 3 marketing was different bruh. You wanna talk about sauce?? There was this trailer, the believe trailer and all the others man god dam.
you can hear that "BRRRRRRoom" sound effect in the soundtrack. Marty O'donnell - Movement - halo 3
I’m working on my own comic book and I’m always thinking about how to thread the story I’m trying to tell through my panels and my characters with their actions. It’s not easy at all , challenging stuff to say the least. But Kai’s videos help me out SO fucking much it’s insane! This dude understands the power and tricks behind visual storytelling and I can say with no reservations that my comic is turning out exactly how I envisioned it and beyond what I envisioned thanks to Kai. You rule Kai, I love these breakdown videos you do, especially the Halo ones. Halo is eternal. Thanks man❤🔥🤘
Dude! My eyes watered a little reading your comment. I hope once you're done, you're gonna send me a copy!! I'll pop it on my desk so everyone can see it in the videos. :D
@@kaizammit dude of course!😭 I’ve been watching and taking lots of notes from your vids for almost a year now, big fan of your work! You will absolutely receive a finished copy and hopefully see where I drew inspiration from you!
I’m not really into filmmaking or anything like it, but I love watching your breakdowns because they point out everything I love about Halo cinematics. Plus the passion you have for Halo despite being removed from it for so long adds so much to your dissections.
❤ witcher 3 cinematic ❤
Halo 3 is THE Halo for me. It’s what I grew up playing, and is what introduced me into my most beloved gaming series. Still to this day, I’ll go back and re-play it on MCC or my Xbox for that feel.
I hope you play with the Duke!? 💪🏻
Jedi fallen order and Jedi Survivor all cinematics and cut scenes! I'd love to that video happen. I enjoy your content Kai keep up the good work. 👍
There is a small detail that 90% people miss within the first 5 seconds of the trailer. If you look at the sky while the kids are talking, you can see a wraith shot that's about to hit just before the girl says, "I guess, you'll think we'll ever meet them?"
I just went through and looked frame by frame and don't see it
@@caloreen1992 first quarter of the screen on the top left
I'll never forget seeing this commercial while I was watching a Monday Night Football game. I was so hyped for this when it came out everyone didn't go to school that day LOL
Best times mate!
Dude same I stayed home "sick" and my dad got the game for me
@@BoneStack117 Good times
@ 5:03 - The shooting star in the sky to the left also foreshadows the Wraith tank's plasma mortar later in the trailer
This immediately takes me back to highschool, senior year. So hyped for Halo 3 and ready to play it with all my friends.
Halo 3 will always be special to me and I’m so happy to see people enjoying the game even now. It actually blows my mind how the older games still get played by tons of content creators. I can go into paragraphs of how amazing H3 is, but there’s thousands of videos that already do that already haha.
Firstly, wish I had a to-scale R2-D2 just because lol.
Secondly, still have to praise your work. From a what, like one minute trailer? You were able to find so much to talk about, break down and teach. And none of it felt bloated or stretched out. It's all genuinely interesting. And entertaining.
Loved watching that breakdown so much. Thanks. With regards to the section of being outnumbered, by wraiths and brutes. The whole campaign for Halo 3 was 'Believe.' Which obviously for thst section draws on that. Believe the impossible, possible.
You're right, it's also Chief, he does anything he wants. haha. KZ
@@kaizammit yes. That too haha
I just realised how I would like you to react on some OST. Halo is the best.... but how to use them in a trailer ? In a full game ? In a movie scene ?! Music and visual really go hand in hand, so how do you do it ?
I love how I'm always learning something new in your videos! Thumbs up. I never noticed how clever Bungie was with their camera effects.
Aw and the old school muffling nowadays we have that tinnitus sound that hurts like hell and helps activate yours 😂
For such an old video it’s amazing to see such a beautiful thing actually standing up to the rigors and the test of time a game over a decade old, with modern technology and computer graphics and access to new and more literature and yet the simple and somewhat dirty video game trailer has some of the most biggest impacts, especially when you consider that the trailer doesn’t include any actual gameplay or combat, it doesn’t draw you in with violence or fancy graphics, it’s just two kids sitting under a start night on some distant planet, wondering if there’s ever any other life out there and again like any young child the hopes of meeting life other than our own, with a biology, culture and technology so different from ours and with hopes and dreams of creating a better and brighter future, suddenly replaced with the harsh realities of the universe in which all of those hopes and dreams are replaced with war and a mission and that’s to simply keep on fighting no matter what.
And again it’s such a fantastic and yet simple trailer, prioritizing the humanity of the game and its character, everything else is irrelevant, that girl, those hopes and dreams, only to be replaced with the horrors of war and a child who’s past and future were taken away from him in order to become nothing more than a killing machine.
I hadn't even realized I'd been watching for 30 minutes. I was so drawn into your explanation of each scene!
That's awesome to hear!
You just breakdown one of my favourite trailer of all time ❤ I highly enjoyed this breakdown, thank you
Great breakdown! This ad was everything for me when I was a kid in 2007 or whatever.
Said it be for and I'll say it again. I love your reviews/break downs. But halo is my is my passion. It's so nice to see someone show it some love 😊
I remember watching this over and over again on a demo disk
This is one of my favorite trailers of all time and my favorite Halo trailer. Thank you for breaking this down in such detail!
Ah 2007 was the year to be alive to play games. Great times.
A point that I've always held was when it shows him as a kid and he's not lit up, even though he should with the moon light, it was a belief that we were never supposed to see his face since the player is the Master Chief.
Im sure someone else has pointed it out, but in the starry night trailer (first one) you can hear the girl in his flashback whisper "Time to go" as he's putting the helmet back on. Love those little details. NVM you heard it LOL
From what I remember them saying that once you see the helmet its all CGI, but the kids, the setting, all real.
My guy a 30-minute video about a 1-minute trailer you are a legend
scanned trailer for halo 4 was a pretty mint story telling trailer. def need to do a breakdown on that one
The eyes are the window to the soul. Well done again man!
Great video man. Really love your stuff. Halo 3 is the greatest video game of all time. Crazy how amazing this trailer still is to this day, it never fails to make me tear up and feel a rush of adrenaline. This trailer is so electric, I’ve never watched a trailer for another video game or even a movie that makes me feel more hyped
I'm with you fella!
Amazing 🙌🏻
Amazing video, love the in depth information we get from you and the passion you have for this. R2 is pretty sick as well. What are your thoughts on season 1 of the show so far? Filmography and editing aside, how do you like the story?
Talking about using the camera movement/ lens to make cgi feel more realistic reminds me of prehistoric planet, they have a podcast talking about how they use the camera to ground the film
You should give the Terminals from Halo CE and Halo 2 a check out. They're video and audio files that give even more lore to the story. You find them throughout the map. Some are down-right horror-esc. I recommend checking out the anniversary legendary versions of these terminals. Very emotional and informative
this came out during the superbowl of all things, man i miss when Halo was prime
“You ever wonder what’s up there?” Maybe one of the best lines describing halo ever. “This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself.”
You need to watch Halo Legends.
ngl you need to see all the "believe" commercials, there quite good
Honestly id love reactions to the cinematics from Destiny 1 and 2. Glorious in my eyes. :D
The goat with another banger
Yes!!! Back to halo 🎉
Wonderful breakdown as usual! Gears of War: Mad World (the original trailer) is another favorite of mine that's crafted with so much impact from the same time period and was especially striking given the bleak nature as contrasted with the games of the time. A true visual storytelling arc in 60 seconds without any dialogue. You'd have to really work to dodge copyright to review that in a video unfortunately.
all i have to say is squadron 42 i held the line awsome trailer and game break down should check it out.
you should do the believe trailer with the diorama. its amazing and makes me tear up
This trailer review has more content, than the second trilogy of Halo combined.
To be fair, Chief teleported unarmed into a Prophet’s throne room full of royal guards and walked out lol I don’t count him out of any fight
Hello again just wanted to throw out a suggestion for you to review the Batman Arkham game cinematic trailers as they are awesome!!!
I need a weapon
I can hear it in his voice too... I've frothed!
Hell yeah we took on that amount of enemies in the game lol
In honor of the Fallout TV show coming out and taking the world by storm, you should react to the various Fallout trailers/cinematics
Definitely should react to the halo 3 believe campaign all interviews, its probably the best video game Comercial ever.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it fella! As a thank you, please email me. My email is in the description box.
Well, nice R2 ^^
If I just had the room (or money : | ) for such things, I would very much like to have them. Looks cool, anyway. Nice piece.
Ah, and the cinematic, it really makes me regret a little how I very much skipped anything Halo related, as I always was PS child, never XBox. And so I missed such beautiful shorts and trailers and such.
I have to say the cut to the helmet lying there and then the sudden battlefield was a bit unnerving for me, but well made and intended, I believe.
(and here the reminder for For Honor please, as is tradition ^^)
Edit: Btw, I noticed you using the 5sec skip, and also now the frame by frame, but did you know you can skip 10sec with 'j' and 'l'? If you ever need it.
Back when Halo was respected as a franchise...
Being a halo fan is one of the hardest things for me right now
I still think you need to react to the Ace Combat series of trailers, cinematics and intros. They always give me goosebumps. I suggest Ace Combat 5, 6, 7 & Zero to look up
why was i so entertained by a Sponsor plug???
Because of my charming tones?
You should definitely react to the Batman Arkham game trailers
Hey ! The Witcher 3 cinematics "A Night to Remember" and "Killing Monsters" are fantastic, with great visuals and camera movements, if you are looking for your next trailer to react !
I'd love too but the problem is, I've seen them. Granted years ago when they first came out. To be honest, I've never looked at them as a filmmaker, I was fresh from Uni when they came out. Would that be a problem do you think for viewers and yourself? Kai
@@kaizammit Oh ok i get it ! Of course, first reactions are always a bit better to see how you will appreciate the trailer, but personnaly and I think it's also true for other viewers, it's not a problem if you already saw these cinematics because at the end of the day, what's interesting is your analysis as a filmmaker ! So if it doesnt bother you to cover some cinematics you already know, for me it's totally fine (and 'i'm sure it's fine for other viewers too)
(sorry for my english, i'm french !)
As I said, it has been years! If you look closely when I wear a short sleeved top, I have a Witcher Tattoo, school of the Cat. Maybe I should take a look at them again, could be a ride! Thank you for the recommendation. Regarding your english, you type better than me! Kai
@@kaizammit Oh, real fan I see, that's great ! And if it has been years you might not remember well these trailers so it's even better ! I'm waiting for the notification for the witcher so ;)
(thanks !)
@@kaizammit I would be hyped to see a breakdown, even if you've watched them already! They're so good it's worth a revisit!
React to Diablo 2 cinematics old ones vs the remastered ones, its really cool how they are almost 1 to 1
27:46 My guy doesn’t know Master Chief from the books 😅
But yeah he’d win
If it's a possibility you should do a reaction to Halo Legends
waiting for other star wars old republic trailers)
Next month I'll be covering them all!
@@kaizammit cant wait to see!!!
Kai I can't recommend Halo Infinite enough when it comes to cinematics and overall experience! It's beautiful in so many ways, have a look at it I promise you won't be disappointed!
I will get to it!!
For the love of god, please watch "HALO - [Fan Animation] - Remember" it is one of the most visually gorgeous, emotional, and artistically beautiful pieces of media ever created, all without a single character or voice line other than background military chatter.
Believe trailer next!
I have covered the believe trailer fella, it's available on my Patreon, it was a patron request hence it's only on there.
Can you react to one of the greatest remakes in gaming history? The game is "mafia definitive edition" this is something I think you really appreciate
Can you please react to the live action halo trailers please
Peak
Man you should react to Halo 3 Believe trailer
It's on the Patreon, Patron request.
This is what the halo show the fans deserve should have been. Not some self important hacks dogshit “vision”. Further proof 343 never deserved to be allowed anywhere near the IP much less allowed to hand it off to people, how incompetent do you have to be as a 343 exec to hear the pitch “yeah, I’ve never played the game or read the books, and neither has the guy I want to play this lead guy, master chef was it? Oh chief? Sure whatever.” And still give them the rights 🤦
Heyy kai could you maybe do some destiny 1 or 2 cutscenes/cinematics?
I've got it on my list to cover soon so stay tuned!
Noo way I'm gonna love that, I've got 4000+ hours on the game I'm curious what you think about it!
What cinematics should I look at?
I advice a more recent one, it's called destiny 2: the final shape Journey into the traveler
That is for the upcoming expansion I really think you'll like the cinematic work in it.
Bungie made the one for destiny 2 but bungie used to make halo as well.
Wrath’s
Diablo 2 Remastered please (and maybe a comparison with the original cinematics)?
Would you be interested in doing a mobile reaction for Oppenheimer? Literally a filmmakers' dream😅
What, you couldn't take out 12 Brutes, 6 Wraiths, and a Chieftain with just an Assault Rifle?
27:00 He's beaten and survived far worse solo in canon.
Just for facts sake, at the end when you’re talking about how fast Chief is running, we aren’t talking 20mph, normal humans can get up to that speed. He’s probably going somewhere in the 30+mph range. Kelly herself was clocked at a full speed of 38.5mph. Chief is HAULING ass across that field
I knew it was fast, the camera told me it was. I'm also aware they are that fast but thank you for reminding me.
@@kaizammit the one thing the trailer kinda fails to show is his actual speed. He looks fast, but if you don’t think back to the shot of the wraith rounds coming at him you can forget just how far away he was to the tanks. He closes a very large distance VERY fast.
You’re breakdown of this trailer was absolutely stunning btw so many details I never noticed in a years of watching this. Love the content
Thank you so much for telling me! Kai
Sick xbox shirt. I have a pair of og xbox boxers that I like to call xboxers. I don't wear them anymore because they're in tatters and falling apart after all these years
Bomb squad been on them yeah!? haha
Dooooo Elden Ring trailers!!!
Does it have cinematic trailers?
We're not using the M word😂
Absolutely love when you cover Halo stuff, and this being one of my all-time favorite Halo trailers!
That said, as die-hard of a fan of Halo as I am, don't waste your time on the dogshit "Halo" show.
Never give up halo. It is apart of you lol jk
Why didnt they make a CGI low budget movie like starship troopers invasion. It's right up that alley of realistic and animated unreal art style they could have made all the characters and a movie of halo 1 for 50 million. Make 250 million easy. make halo 2 with better quality closer to final fantasy 15 movie for 150. Make 450 miliion, Then make halo 3 the movie with the cgi quality of halo 5 cutscenes or just live action since it would be cheaper. They could make the same in quality for a halo reach show 8 episodes an hour each. Then they could make an odst show and movie also after of during the events of halo what human forces were facing having to win. It is ridiculous that the halo show was 10 million per episode and totaling 250 million and fail. They chose to lie to everyone they had the skill set to make a possible billion dollar series of films. with 250 million I could make 2 halo movies 2 and a half hours long in cgi or gundam hathaway level of animation and sell it on onlyfans for 15 dollars a pop to see each and probably make the money back atleast while paramount is at a 170 million dollar loss. Its not rocket science but it is a science that has rules to the craft, Failing to follow those rules and successfuly adapting them at that level is simply a crime.
I do hope you use this for classes. "Here's how game trailers sold consoles and games, kids".
The OG Master Chief was hype. Shame what they've done to him since.
it's crazy I was 11 years old when Halo 3 came out.... Halo was the first video game I ever played ( I'm pretty sure though it could have been Red Faction 1) I only played it on PC so I never played 3 until I was 14 and by then Reach was around. Loved this game though, best multiplayer, best campaign out of the of trilogy.
