- Many feel time poor-like there aren’t enough hours in the day to get it all done. And a common belief is that if we had more free time, we would be happier. Cassie Holmes, a UCLA professor who studies the relationship between time and happiness, found it’s not about having more. She uncovers myth-breaking results and ways to spend the time we do have to bring greater joy into our lives. #joy Cassie Holmes is a professor at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, an award-winning teacher and researcher on time and happiness, and bestselling author of Happier Hour: How to Beat Distraction, Expand Your Time, and Focus on What Matters Most.
Happier Hour is a Wall Street Journal Bestseller, and was selected as an Amazon Best Book of 2022, a “must read” by Forbes, the Washington Post and the Financial Times, and was featured in such outlets as the Today Show, CBS Mornings, CNN, NPR’s Hidden Brain, and GOOP with Gwyneth Paltrow.
Holmes’s academic research has been widely published in leading academic journals. The course she developed and now teaches, Applying the Science of Happiness to Life Design, is among UCLA’s most popular for MBAs and Executive MBAs alike.
Prior to joining UCLA, Cassie was a tenured faculty member at Wharton, and she has a Ph.D. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and a B.A. from Columbia. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
Happiness is a personal choice. Some people have all the luxuries, comfort, time availability, and still remain unhappy. Others face trial and tribulation but remain happy.
Thank you, Ms. Holmes! Great food for thought. Blessed be. ❤
Amazing to see you give this talk in person! Great experience, learned a lot.
Peace is the goal.
Happiness is a choice and a byproduct of peace.
If you chase happiness, then you have to have the flip side of sadness, one can't exist without the other, and it's a fool's game.
I never agree with people on Ted’s comments but this is correct. It is unsustainable and unhealthy to force happiness, finding peace is what opens the door to happiness.
Happiness is synonymous with peace. Excitement and exhilaration are often confused for happiness. These are the fleeting moments that are chased by ungrounded people. Being grateful for the small things like she speaks on is aligning with finding peace, gratitude, contentment and in turn a level of security and happiness.

I think her book is awesome ❤
Thank you 😊
This is what Buddhism says- to find joy in each moment. It’s good that someone in the West has done research on it now- it’s been known in the East for thousands of years.
I really hope your message will resonate with my partner. It's not that I demand for a 24/7 undivided attention but when she has the time for me, she often cuts me off and answers phone calls from people whom she considers a big part of her life... Leaving me feeling like I'm a spare tire, which she will only use whenever she needed me... "I'll get back to you, love, we'll have more time later." ... Later means having to postpone my sleep or other things to do that are important to me.
I agree with you that the quality of time spent is more important than the quantity of time, because, nobody knows when we will be gone forever.
Excellent
Very good.
yaa it is good
You are awesome mam....... This lecture is so unique and helpful for us........... Thank you mam........
Literally your lecture touched my heart. ❤
Planning the time for good thing and calculating the time for every good work, whatever ❤❤
It was greattt😐💙
Thanks for continuing updates. I'd rather trade the stock market as it's more profitable. I make an average of $30,100 per week even though I barely trade myself.
I'm in a similar situation where should I look to increase income? Do you have any advice? What did you do? Thank you
Well explained. Thank you for bringing up this video. Financial education is indeed required for more than 70% of society in the country as very few are literate on the subject, thanks to Mrs Olivia Harlow the lady you ones recommended
Sounds familiar, I have heard her names on several occasions.. And both her success stories on wall street journey!
Alright, thanks for the recommendation, but how do I reach her?
Trading without professional guide.... Huh, I laugh you because you'll remain where you are or even make huge losses that will stop you from trading. This has beeb one of the biggest problems to new traders.

Can’t believe how people are doing research on finding happiness, family time, dinner time, coffee time😢
All you need a conscious mind and a loving heart to achieve that Rest is assured
I don't blame people for being exhausted and unhappy. Our society isn't healthy.
Depends on our priorities, preferences, guidance and focus.
The grass is always greener where it's watered. How we see ourselves and what's around us is what we experience. Gratitude is what happens when we're paying attention to the good in our lives. These are all mental strengths and coping mechanisms. Thank you for touching on this important subject.
It's Good to be Thankful and Greatful.
Wow … ❤
One day l totally change my life and l really will happy with my freedom
and my forced refusals today to turn into a reward for me
What we do with the time allotted us determines how we can be, poor or rich. Thank you for this exposure.
Indeed ❤
Türkçe otomatik çeviri de olsaydı ne güzel olurdu🙏🙏🙏
Nobody speaks Turkish.
@@sirchadiusmaximusiiiThat is an obvious lie. Why bother even saying it?
@@sirchadiusmaximusiii Many foreign channels have automatic Turkish translation.
It would be nice to have it on this channel too. So we could understand what it meant. (This sentences are Google translate)
I want to watch this so badly, but my neurodivergent brain cannot block out the crackling sounds in the background. I can’t tell if it’s dry mouth or the microphone rubbing against hair, or what. But I just can’t. 😭 💔
Saaame, I can't cope with it. Looks like her way of talking, not opening her mouth enough. 😢
beautiful message thank you

Happiness was with my cat Notouching . . . until the hit-and-run.
Chasing after concepts such as happiness is no different to consumerism.
*Republicans Voted Against Infrastructure Bill;* It contains money for upgrades to federal highways, bridges, broadband and water systems, among many other major projects.
It was 2000 pages sent in the middle of the night before signing. That’s a crime syndicate tactic. Unlike you, I wouldn’t be for that protocol on either side but it’s how the left works: hide, lie, gaslight, play victim, repeat.
Well..I think you can never experience happiness if you are so calculated. The lady's experience sounds very mechanic. We are not machines. Actually if you quit modern media for some time , you will experience amazing.
This is a very obvious talk. Why do people research the obvious?
Because the obvious ideas leads to the greatests messages.
because they have free time?
One will be surprised how many "obvious' things are scientifically much more complex or even proven wrong. In fact, people's gut feeling and scientific research often show completely different results. Therefore, it's very important researching even "obvious" assumptions.
The eyes don’t lie. Something is very off mentally with her. Forcing any emotion constantly is not healthy. Go watch some cult docs, it’s the same vibe/look.
