Guest bio: Sam Altman is the CEO of OpenAI, the company behind GPT-4, ChatGPT, Sora, and many other state-of-the-art AI technologies.
It's impressive how someone can say so much without really saying anything at all.
True. What he brought forward were just some vague words aimed to restore trust and generate hype. Nothing concrete was said in this.
Yea, this guy tries hard to be mysterious and undeniable. That fry is nuts.
He should enter into politics ...
Yep
lol it actually made a tremendous lot of sense. Did you expect some trade secrets in there too? lol.
"You’re not the man you used to be Sam" felt like Lex broke the 4th wall and said something very real. Interesting 🤔
That’s not what breaking the 4th wall is
@@DanCampbellKneecapsRight… but with Lex’s tone and the way he implies (or state fact as an all seeing being) it sure felt like it was up that alley. A “wall” was definitely broken 😉
@@DanCampbellKneecaps unless OP is named Sam, then kinda
@@Mr.Bear. Thank you for not being super literal lol and sharing the sentiment
@@Mr.Bear.one could say you fell off a 'wall' and need to get that 'concussion' checked out
We’ll get GPT 6 before GTA 6
😂
Give this man a honey lemon tea! 🗣️
Remember: The Military Industrial Complex had the 'Internet' before the Public Sector.
That's because they inveted it basically
@@AkosMyeah, but the question is:
What does the military have at this point in terms of AI/LLM models?
@@Humanaut. things we can't even imagine. I would wager that the tech they use is 10-20 years ahead of mainstream usage.
@@Humanaut. I don't think military has better ai technology
def not, they are not further in ai@@AkosM
Once you latch onto the constant vocal fry in Altman's voice, you can't unhear it, it also feels quite deliberate strangely...
I agree on the deliberate part. I can't put my finger on why though
@@andreasv9472same
He's Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos, who trans'd to avoid jail time lmao. Even the eyes check out 🤣
To be fair, this is how the majority of CEO's talk. Especially of upcoming, uncompleted endeavors. They're not going to give you much.
The problem is Open AI was started and has been marketed as a non profit research organization with the goal of developing "safe and ethical AI that benefits all humanity" while in fact it is slowly turning into something else. Even the "OpenAI" name suggests it's an open, transparent operation like the open source software projects etc. With big money and big tech being coopted by OpenAI (i.e., Microsoft) I see this increasing tendency to keep things secret, rationing information about the progress and becoming less and less transparent. It reminds me of the trick used by the tech community in the 90s with the Internet - it was once also marketed as a cool, beneficial, open, democratic tool to connect people and ideas. While it's true, its also a lot more - harvesting data, spying on people, manipulation, etc. It took people 20 years to realise the catchy slogans like Google's "dont be evil" was just a cloak to keep people thinking the internet is a free, cool thing given away by smart people who are inherently good.
Sounds like this guy voiced figure 01
😂😂
What were the "surprising insights"?
Maybe he is GPT 5 now 😂
He has an ear piece and gpt5 is transmitting words into his ears 😂
“It’s sometimes useful to look at the entire map. This is true for a technical problems and innovation in business. Things come together in surprising ways if you have that whole picture. Even if, most of the time you operate off in the weeds in some area, pays off in surprising insights” 2:28
I just don't know... My faith in OpenAI has been shaken, and that goes for Sam too. It started long before this recent Elon mess. That's all just noise.
The first red flags came with GPT2
"Elon mess"... Like if it's their mess, and not Elon having a vendetta against Microsoft, OpenAI, and Google.
Remove Elon from the picture and there is no mess whatsoever.
After watching the full interview, I feel like a majority of my faith in Sam is restored. I still am worried for the company, but just because this is such a seriously consequential technology that is going to impact humanity in our lifetime, and once unleashed, there will be no going back.
The idea that the military will just watch from the sidelines as a private company develops AGI is so naive
Did he just say the basis for chatGPT is so simple everybody can oversee its inner workings?
*I don't know*
But in 3 minute
Mark Zuckerberg (in robot voice): I am a normal person like you 😊
Sam Altman: Hold my beer
scary stuff, hope it is in the right hands
What happened with sam's voice? 😮
It’s always been like this tho
It’s awful. Dude’s a sociopath and tricks a lot of people.
@@ClintMoodyThe actual fuck is wrong with you? Sure you're not projecting?
@@ClintMoodywhat exactly makes him a sociopath? I'm genuinely curious because I've seen people judge a lot of tech guys as evil people just because they are weird, he could be a sociopath but i don't think you can know that just based on an interview
Pretty sure he’s autistic, not a sociopath
"You are not the man you used to be, Sam." Of course he is not. He is figure 1 now.
Q* is AGI.
LGPT-5 is released already 😅
Body language and straight to the point meaning he's very defensive on that question. He knows, but doesn't want to release it as it probably has consequences.
Cool that he’s willing to admit that he’s more of a specialist now.
Who saw the moment he had to choose between "l" and "we" 😮.
Subconsciously he sees himself as OpenAI rather than a piece of a big pie.
i think the average person is smart enough to notice that Sam is overly roleplaying. doesnt make him a psychopath, just not very trustworthy
Lex... I could tell that your drinking glass is a "DURALEX 500ml". The only reason i know... is not because of GTP, it's because I'm currently using the same one. The only way i could know if came out of the same mold "1 to 50 mine being 2", is to ask you what's the number beneath your glass. GTP would never know. What was it. I hope my question amusing for a such brilliant mind as yours.
Cheers from Montreal.
The current model, while potentially one of the best available, exhibits significant limitations. Consequently, it doesn't seem to justify the 20€ monthly fee. I'm exploring superior alternatives, and Perplexity appears to be the promising replacement I've been seeking.
Perplexity isnt a model, they are using other peoples models such as GPT 4 or Claude
the only comparable model is claude 3 opus. which in ipinion is better at most coding tasks but also worse at some and think its even for other stuff.
While I'm not assessing the models themselves, I am evaluating their services. For the same cost, Perplexity provides a broader range of offerings. @@TheManinBlack9054
Now now, all these nasty comments here are just embarrassing. IMHO Altman looks good, has a charming voice and a natural-feeling personality - not anything "robotic" like people here are claiming. Of course I'm not simping or anything. I fully understand that we have an existential threat, but let's be honest and discuss our existential threat by discussing our existential threat, not by making disingenuous petty remarks about people's looks and personality that are clearly not true at all.
Stop glazing
the comments about his appearance, vibe, voice, etc. are so bizarre
Вы пытаетесь ответить на вопросы , а вопрос может убить человечество , я за 5 последних лет прошла по синим линиям веб браузеров
Oh gosh, he has the worst case of vocal fry ive ever heard. I literally cant tolerate it.
It manages to be worse every single time.
He wants to sound special and cool
Yes….really ugly voice….
People's voice deepen when they feel uncomfortable. It's happened to me. It's a confidence issue from over questioning yourself and being constantly uncertain about things.
@@jacksonvaldez5911 pitch is different from vocal fry, but fair point. It could have been anxiety related.
WAAAAAAH!

What the who did the title? When lex does come out. ?!. Nah ??????

Q/acc #Quantumsupremacy
Microsoft's boy 🤐
Sam has a lot of signs of a sociopath and Lex doesn’t see it at all
THIS. So many people don’t see it and don’t understand when I bring it up, but it’s very clear to me.
Came to comments to see if anyone else saw.
Agreed and this should scare us all.
Like Elon Musk?
@@juanche978 Look at the score card - Elon founded and invested heavily in a company to try and stop big tech controlling AI, then Sam closed it off, sold it to Microsoft and made a clause in the contract so that he can use the unreleased super AI to build his own products, all while bragging about how he didn't take any equity in the first company.
why you talking like thaaaaat ?
I would have hoped Elon would still be on the board or even the ceo of open ai.
Why?
I mean he chose to leave
3 minute clip to tell me not to watch a 2 hour interview. What an uptight, soulless, boring guest lol.
What an annoying voice Altman has 😅
Lol Sam has no clue what he is talking about. Get Ilya on. Sam is less than Steve Jobs was to Apple. Steve had an eye for design, don't think Sam knows shit about 99% of what OpenAI is doing.
Steve was also an engineer and not just some business head that people allude to. Altman is just as detailed.
I've noticed something like that too. It's like an incompetent person trying to look professional
Other LLMs are gonna catch up and this creepy dude will fade into the background. Which is good because he doesn’t come across as trustworthy
He is the most robotic person I've seen
garbage
Multiple releases this year unrelated to GPT-5?
Ok now things are heating up.
And if OpenAI is talking like that, the competition is listening and rolling out their own surprises.
If Biden wins in Nov, 2025 is going to be an awesome year on the Tech front.
Why because he will start a war and tech will advance rapidly for weapons?
The funny thing is people would be less critical if Anthropic came up with GPT5 even though they are more closed than OpenAI.
