Happened to stumble upon your videos and may I say that you make some really well detailed videos and good camera work! I have a e24 and although not all the stuff is the same I started using you as a guide to make sure if I am doing something properly. Thanks man keep up the great work!
Alternators themselves don't usually fail- oftentimes it's just the regulator-pack/brushes on the rear of the alt. that can be replaced for a few dollars and it's good to go.
I replaced my alternator on my 1985 BMW 325e, but when putting it back on the car, there was a third wire that I didn't remember unbolting from the alternator. Is there a ground wire along with the other two wires that you bolted in?
Hello dear friend. I have an e30 325i from 1990. At the time of starting it, the car starts but it feels like it is staying. Then I give the accelerator a couple of kicks to increase the rpm and the operation stabilizes, keeping it until it stops and turns on again. I tightened the alternator belt and changed the IAC as another youtuber had told me, but today I tried it and the problem persists. I would appreciate some information about the problem, if you had to see something similar. Thanks and regards from Chile.
If anyone can help, I cannot find where to ground my alternator on my m10 engine. I’ve looked all over forums but can’t find any info. I know I have to ground one end to the swivel mount on the engine, but I don’t know where to attach the ground cable to my alternator
I recently got done swapping in a 2.7 stroker into my 89' 325is after I threw a rod and the car runs perfect but the battery wont charge I've replaced the battery alternator and ground wire going from oil pan to engine bay and when I test the voltage at the fire wall I'm getting nothing so I know the problem is in the engine bay just can't figure out what. Have any ideas ?
Hey, i have 4 wires i had to disconnect and i dont know where to put them, the alternator only has 2. When i start it up, it stays on with the battery light on for about 15 seconds then shuts off
Dan the man ! only one issue with the new alternator that it has three places to connect I guess the two that are closer together the ones to use. The lower one I guess could be possibly ground connection .
I have a 325e that has no power. I've replaced the plugs and wires and fuel pump. I was thinking maybe some of the injectors are bad. I know three cylinders are miss firing. do you know any tips to clean the injectors?
E30Source, my man. i have an issue. so, when i first got my ETA with an i head. it died in about a week, it had a red battery light changing dimness overtime. Is the alternator fried? does the old car itself just need a new alternator? because i replaced the regulator then installed a ( what is said to be very reliable) costco battery. This was last month but now i have the same problem as you again. Could it be more than just the alternator wrong with it? I also still have the 5k dash.
Hi man! I've got a really annoying problem with my E30. It appears only when it has been raining outside. So first the car starts just fine, but when I shut it down, it just won't start. It takes approximately 5 to ten minutes to get it back running again and when it finally does, it works fine until it stands overnight when it has been raining again.
hi i recently purchased an e30 320i 1991 its in a pretty bad shape all round and i wanted to restore it but i do not know where to start from. can u guide me from where to start. like i said it is in a really really bad shape even the roof carpet is pealed off.

Is there 2 Brackets holding the Alternator on ? Just noticed My alternator on My E30 is sitting crooked and I’m not sure why…
Yes one is a fixed bracket, the other is an adjustable one with teeth to adjust the tension on the alternator.

+JeLani Thrower I would say bring the battery to a autozone and have them check it for you. If its not the battery then I'd say its the alternator.

Have you ever had to deal with a misfire ? I cant seem to figure out what is causing it on mine.
