Great content, I have been following for a while. This video is definitely one of my favourites. It is a shame I don’t have a piece of land to practice but I’ll give a try on a car park. Please keep publishing exercises like this
Love the videos you making and great teaching points like the squeeze (clamp) picture. Thanks heaps, also looking forward to the new website. I watch the video's and go out and practice once a week. Confidence in handling my KTM 790 Adv has gone up.
Glad you like them! It great to hear back from people that they are improving their "skillZ"!!! The website will be up soon and we are excited for that!
This is one I’m definitely going to try ! I’m for example lefthanded and for some reason doing something with the bike from the right is ”difficult” for me. E.g enter the bike from the right is...😵
These are great foundation exercises that helped me to become better at both sides, too. To begin, practice all the left side ones first to be comfortable with them. Then after, begin to try the right ... soon you will be going back and forth with practice. Good Luck and let us know how it goes
Thanks for these videos. As a long time road rider, I've progressed from being pathetically useless off road to marginally mediocre thanks to these videos. 👍👍👍👍

@@advmotoskillz I have now! Thanks for another great resource. I'm lucky enough to be able to work an off road section into my daily commute so I'm getting the practice in every day.

🤝 Thank you! We are releasing a new video later today. It will be tips on things I've learned on how to rie the GS Garage. I will cover topics like friction zone and line selection.
Not sure... I did the figure 8's just to show the riding and the body positions for the video. When first practicing, it is good to try to just go in a straight line. As you become comfortable, then try some big turns as you ride in each position. This is really good practice to work on balance/counterbalance and momentum control (friction zone/throttle control skillZ.
@@advmotoskillz I've done my circles about 5m in diameter. But I'm comfy only with all hands and legs on the bike. The ground is not smooth so for practicing all this excercises I'll make a bigger circles, once again many thanks for your vids 💪
🤝Thank you! Learning how to keep the bike balanced with your body positioning and keeping smooth inputs with the friction zone/throttle makes all the difference when it comes time for off-road riding.
Thank you! It is a great warm up exercise. It teaches not only how to balance/counterbalance the bike, but also how to be gentle on the throttle and friction zone to keep the bike moving.
Thank you for reaching out to us and leting us know you have enjoyed our videos. We have pivoted from UA-cam the past year and focused on other projects. We have started a blog advmotoskills.com/ that has some more training ideas and other fun tpoics.
We did not measure the cone distance for this exercise. (I would guess about 40 meters/130 feet). The cones were put there so the drone pilot would have reference points/boundaries to know where the rider would be. This exercise is meant to be performed in a "freestyle" flow... If the rider is new to off road riding, just going in a straight line while making the body position changes is challenging enough. With experience and confidence then adding in some large turns/swerves adds to the challenge of bike balance/counterbalance skillZ. We did the figure 8's to try to get all of it on film in a somewhat easy to follow manner.
Welcome to the adventure bike riding family!! Test out how movements feel with the bike on the center stand just to get your body used to the action. When you feel ready to practice on the move, find a safe, open space and only try the moves in a straight line. Just pick a couple exercises to practice each session. With practice, your balance and comfort will improve and you can add on more positions. The learning process was the same for us all in the beginning, so we understand! Come back and let us know how your training comes along.
As a side note, these exercises will really pay off when you are off-roading because sometimes unseen bumps, rocks, etc can cause a hand or foot to get knocked out of position.
It is important to start at your own pace & comfort level. Start out with only lifting left arm while riding in a straight line, then progress to the other exercises when ready. That being said, ADV riding does involve falling and getting stuck ... so be sure to wear All The Gear All The Time! Best of luck to you in your training
Thanks for asking! The purpose of the exercise to allow the rider to become familiar how their motorcycle balance point changes as the rider moves. It is not about how to ride in any one position. The rider learns subtle counterbalance movements needed to maintain balance and keep the motorcycle on line. A part of off-road ADV riding is that there are times the motorcycle’s suspension undergoes unexpected changes do to unseen dips or obstacles. A rider who has experience with quickly making counterbalance movements is better able to keep the motorcycle upright. Hope that helps
Thanks for the question Markos, In these exercises the brakes can be used as needed. In all of the riding positions the front brake will be available as the right hand never leaves the handle bars during the exercises. In some riding positions and movements the rear brake will not be available and only the front brake can be applied. This will give the rider experience in applying the front brake with gentle pressure to avoid the front end diving. This exercise sequence also a great opportunity to practice friction zone and throttle control inputs. The Beginner Balance/Counterbalance exercises can be adapted to any skill level for these reasons.
🎓Learning is a lifelong process for sure. The important thing is to practice at your own pace & comfort level. Start with just a few of the moves until you feel comfortable before adding on more. It's definately a marathon and not a sprint! Have fun with your training 👍
@@MujoNovak I would disagree with you. Every rider has a different level of physical ability and fitness and if someone is challenged they could find it difficult. The exercises are designed for riders to perform at their own pace and what they are comfortable with. 👍🏻
It may look tricky, but it is a great way to learn balance & counterbalance skills for beginner adventure motorcycle riders. It develops riding skills of balance & counterbalance, along with a keen understanding of how the bike will react in ever-changing terrain and conditions when riding off-road. SkillZ for thrillZ!
