What a nostalgic rare video recorded when they used to enter the flight deck to recorded the pilots of take off and landing at that time. Very classic airliners and good old jets at that time.

Thank-you so very much for all you do to bring us these vintage videos. Thank goodness I lived during the "golden years" of air travel so that I am better able to overlay the grainy film with my memories and provide me with the perfect conceptualization of whatever the event was. It looks as if LAX hasn't really changed all that much - JUST KIDDING! But I do find it fascinating how the engineers were able to maximize the limited space available to expand LAX. I wonder if anyone else but me plays the "Who's Going to Win the Race" game whenever an aircraft either takes off or lands on a parallel runway with my aircraft. And then... @1:22, there is that 727 from whomever still belching the black exhaust, even with the engines set for landing.
Well, I'll stop my regression to the fun days of my air travel before folks start grabbing socks for shoving into my mouth. Thank-you again for the post. Please, keep these great videos coming!

Excellent film. Looked like a military C-340/VC-131 tail at right at the end of the film. Thanks for the upload.

FOREST FIRE >>>> at about 24 seconds on the right-hand side You can see Riverside county or San Bernardino county forest fire plume

That must account for the terrible smog above the airport !!

I flew on many United Super 60s to Hilo, Hawaii from LAX, starting in 1968. It had to have been the 61 or 63. Great memories!

Awesome! Not many films from the flight decks of that era and to boot, a 727 on parallel approach! Good find.

Since I flew these old jets I sat and my mind provided the audio...whistling whining engines against the flap and gear, dies off in the flare and reverse thrust roaring....those truly were great birds to behold and stick and rudder......and the instruments ! marvelous

I'm guessing the rubber on the tires of jetliners then were not nearly as good as they are now.

Good one--I like seeing the DC-8 as the 707 gets more attention. I looked it up on wiki--the -52 grossed about he same as a Boeing KC-135--I was on the old tankers with J57s

I've always wondered what it looked like looking through the windshield out in front of you on a jet. That was really neat looking.

The era I'm most obsessed with. If time travel was possible I'd go back to the 60's..

Was the parallel runway to the north not constructed yet?

25L/R were already a pair in the propliner era, and rwy 24 was added on the north field in the early 1960s.
