That was a blast to the past! I flew into and out of all of those airports beginning in the late 60’s but fondly remember taking a Hughes Airwest DC-9 from LAX into PSP in the 70’s as a kid using the same gate pictured. As chance would have it as an adult I ended up working as a United Airlines Service Director and Gate Agent at PSP working gates #1 and #2 right next to the one shown. Fond memories indeed! Thanks for sharing the video!
Awesome! I was a college freshman in 1972 and had already flown many times by then. Ahhh, the sound of REAL jets and their SMOKE!! I loved the ending....seeing that AA 707 Astrojet trying to "merge" onto the taxiway with an oncoming UA 727 Mainliner (looked like they were going to hit)!
Very nice memories of flying in and out of Lindbergh, LAX and SFO during my Navy years in the last half of the 1960's. When I was outbound, it was always to MKC and I was a happy sailor. Inbound flights-not so happy. I don't recall the jets smoking quite as much as seen in this film, but do remember seeing the dark cloud of jet smoke over busy airports on calmer days.
I believe the location showing the United 737, tower view with Gulfstream taking off is Bakersfield, KBFL. Its the old terminal/tower complex. Great memories of that terminal.
I flown into Lindbergh Field in 1972 in my Beechcraft Bonanza but nowadays with all the extra traffic I wouldn't even consider it I fly into Montgomery field in San Diego
The first 747 I saw was a Continental at LAX, and it may just have been the one being pushed back on that exact day. Probably not, but one never really knows.
The cargo handling looks so inefficient and I'm surprised to see it sometimes still goes like that in the US. Is it because of the unions protecting jobs?
I remember those days back in the 70’s. I wish I can go back to those days .
Me too.

Yeh - they looked like they cut it pretty close!
At 2:26, the cashier at the airport shop is counting change and no one was wearing a digital watch. Amazing. Thank-you for sharing!
We were a lot thinner in those days!
Keep them coming please! Another wonderful blast from the past.

San Diego’s downtown skyline at 7:58 shows how much the city has grown...Wow!
Magnificent piece of footage! For hardcore vintage Aviation lovers only!;-) 👍
So many improvements have been made thank God.

Another classic! Love it!
I wish we could go back to those days... Too bad we have let a few people "screw" it up for us...
Some of this footage was taken at Palm Springs airport.

Lindo vídeo obrigado
As a kid circa 1971 visited Airport could smell the kerosene as we drove into the car park, today aircraft are less polluting
what i wouldnt give to live back then
Nobody checking in at a kiosk? Who would have thunk it.................
9:15
Is it just me, or does that look like a time traveling A380
(I know that it is not)
A bit. DC8
No pollution control back then. Much simpler except you could walk onto an airplane with a gun, knife or anything.
Some jet engines back then used a water injection process at take off, which produced a "smokey" exhaust.
San Diego airport : landing amongst wharehouses and freeways... Just scary for the pilots ...
Just think 7 years lady the worse air disasters in the world at that time psa in sandiego 1978
Those sad airplane sounds tho....they sound drunk.
Old film wavering sound effect its called WoW
Smokey airplanes
Right, but it's not as bad as you think. It was more to do with some of them cooling the engines by using a water injection process at take off.
Love it
