Question: I'm buying a used 2003 Chevy Impala. It had an AC unit replaced. In the process of it being replaced apparently the mechanic unhooked the battery. When he reattached the battery it locked up the radio. Now, the airbag light stays on on the dash. Could unhooking the battery have locked up the airbags too?
Chris, its possible but the only way to know for sure is just to have a scan tool hooked up to the OBD port and read the airbag system faults. Once you have the code, you can reply with it here. We can help.
