The main difference is the front derailleur. I`ve ridden both and the new Ultegra/Dura Ace derailleurs shift faster, crisper and quieter compared to the R7100/R8000/R9100. But you can officially run a R8100 front derailleur with R7100 components. So this would be a relatively cheap upgrade if desired.
Hi Russ. I chickened out a bit in my "pick" section but probably would lean towards Soloist if I had to make a pick FWIW. Hard to explain, but "connection" I feel with a bike and me much more prevalent with a Soloist than a Tarmac. Tarmac, I felt like such a great bike, but just too clinical IMHO.
Looks are definitely subjective. I have the same SL8 pro in pine green and when I saw it in store, I had to have it. Love how she looks and rides even better! I will be keeping this bike long term!

Hi Carlos. When that episode comes out when I finalize a comparison between the 2, I will definitely lean towards one over the other. Coming soon, sir!
I was trying to make the same decision (ended up sticking with my current bike) and sided with the SL8. After scanning the forums it seems the SuperSix has had some small issues but I haven't read anything negative about the SL8.
Finally, after some disappointing episodes, this review is very insightful! I really value the detailed explanation of how the bike feels when riding, it is what sets you apart. Thanks 👍🏻
Sheeew I watched this on the edge of my seat. My Sl8 is on the way and i just discovered ur channel, thankfully you echoed alot of what ive read and heard from other well respected reviewers. Appreciate the detail particularily about ride-feel. Subscribed.
Two mens world tour teams this year, Soudal-QuickStep & Bora-Hansgrohe. Canyon and Wilier sponsor two teams as well. Last year TotalEnergies was in the Tour as UCI ProTeam wild card, and they'll be there again this year, but not on Specialized, but on Enve. But since Enve doesn't have a TT bike currently, it looks like they'll be on last year's Specialized Shiv for the two TT stages. Interestingly, this year instead of finishing in Paris with a largely ceremonial crit stage, the finale will be a 34km individual time trial that could totally disrupt the final standings.
Great video as always! So many bike “reviewers “ create content simply based on the press releases from the manufacturers. Not much value in that! What you do is so much better!! I appreciate all the time and effort you put into each review:-) A 105 VS Ultegra would be great! I also enjoy the new VS segment.
Really curious to know if the 105 is worth buying over the Ultegra. It's only about 250g heavier and looks sweeter. My only complain with the 105 crank are all those machined vents on the crank face (behind) which looks like it can easily trap gunk. Wonder how much of a problem that is.
@DiabeticCycling you have to get in touch with them and build the bike to your liking. You have ridden enough bikes to know what geometry is right for you, and you can get thr bike made like a chimera. Ride like SL8, comfort dialed to 20, stiffness of an aero bike. You get what I mean. 😄
I think my choice was based on "on-bike feeling" not necessarily in terms of one being better made than the other. SL8 is so well made, it's so muted in return. While it's so easy to ride, I often feel like just going through the motion if that makes any sense... I'm just a bumbling idiot LOL...
@@DiabeticCycling I totally get what you mean, I think what you're saying is the SL8 maybe lacks 'character'? Your point on handlebars, have you tried the Bontrager Aeolus RSL integrated bar? They have zero flare and for me, have a great shape.
@@DiabeticCycling I appreciate the no F given attitude sprinkled in there. Sometime, channels like yours are the best ones. I. e, doing it as a hobby not too "commercial".
Love your in-depth assessment of the SL8, I've got 105 on my Synapse and love it, although I paired an Ultegra chain and cassette and find it shifts no different from the Ultegra that I have on another bike, Di2 105 is the tits, no other groupset needed, btw saving hard for the SL8 frame 😍want to put the 105 on it
Hi. thanks for watching and dropping this comment. I am not sure if I mentioned it in the episode, but I really feel that the bike could get away with 105 Di2 and then use the savings for a great set of hoops. I am working on a video episode 105 Di2 vs Ultegra Di2 for those interested. Thank you again Ian!
Great production with this video DC. Very time consuming and the effort you put into the B-Roll with Drone footage and beauty shots is much appreciated. I very much anticipate and respect your opinion as opposed to the vast majority of other social media personalities and outlets. Not riding with power and data metrics really makes what you perceive and feel more impactful and genuine. Thanks again for the hard work. I still love my Soloist and I've sworn to never buy another specialized bike but nevertheless I know some of the products they make are indeed some great performing tools. Be safe and keep it RSD.
Mr. Bex! TBH I would pick Soloist if the world is ending and I must pick between the 2. Both equally great, but the $ difference and something about Soloist just resonate with me. As mentioned, Tarmac is a great "tool" for the boys pushing to win races. 20 years later, would we be talking about it like we do with Mapei Colnago? No. Thank you so much for chiming in and your kind words. Especially coming from you on production quality, I am over the moon. Thank you!!!!
I have that exact same bike but with the stock build (size 56, 7.6kg with pedals and bottle cages). This bike has blown me away... it is awesome. All the rides after I bought it where PR-days. It is exceptional. From all the bikes that I've ridden, this is the one that has make the biggest difference compared to the previous one, by far. Part of that are the Roval wheels BTW. It'd be interesting for you to test those as well if you have the chance
Based on how popular Rovals are, I do hope that I come across a set in the future to compare and share thoughts at some point. Thank you for dropping your thoughts here. I appreciate very much.
I am curious if you had a chance to ride the bike with a pair of turbo cotton’s with tubes? Those wheels you have perform better with tubes in testing. By the way early testing on that bike the best performance was on alpinist wheelset and duraace c36.( identical result) Bike performed best with continental gp500str’s 28 for tubeless and turbo cotton 28 with tube. Great review.
Hi. I haven't ridden with the combo you speak of since I ride tubeless exclusive for a variety of reasons. Thanks for your time not only watching but dropping some info!
Cool vid bro!!! I like your pov. Well the avg guy don’t have the $15k to put down, lots of bikes are coming down in price so if I could get this bike at around the $4k ball park, then I’m going for it. Oh what size tires did you put on the bike? I’ve got Pirelli 28c tires on my Cervelo R3 and they rive very nice. I do go pretty fast on my R3 with rim brakes and have over 7k miles on it. Thanks for your work on this vid n bike
There's a section in the vid where I went over the tires I think. Should be 27mm front (measures to 28mm) and then 29mm rear which measures out to 30mm.
Great episode!! I ride a 2023 Soloist so i found this episode to be especially interesting when you compared it against the SL8. I am also curious as to why you chose a 50/34 chainring over the typical 52/36 that you see on so many race bikes?
Hi Tube! Hopefully you also watched my Soloist episode from last year! Such an awesome bike... As to 50/34, while I am indeed an enthusiast and take cycling seriously, I don't race. I also prefer the 50/34 combo for all the mountainous terrain I go after. Such a weak sauce I am, I know. :)
@@DiabeticCycling lol. Yes i watched your Soloist episode from last year. That episode was part of the reason i bought that bike. Thanks for the quick reply.
Nice video! As someone else has said, appreciate you also referencing other bikes (i'm coming off a S3 myself) so that's a good benchmark for for comparison. Reviews like this are far and few between the marketing shills or anti specialized videos.
Great review! Hope the day will come for SL8 vs Teammachine. Am a 1 bike rider, currently on Specialized SL6, still deciding between SL8/Ostro Vam/Teammachine..
Thank you so much for your time watching. That is a tough choice for sure out of the ones you mentioned. Out of the 3, just me personally, and I've ridden extensively 2 of the 3 mentioned, I would lean towards one in specific for sure.
Great review. I had a SL6 Tarmac a few years ago and I think you summed it up pretty perfectly (even if the SL8 is probably a superior machine than the 6 was). I really loved that bike but when I went to upgraded I just couldn't justify the cost difference between it and other bikes I was looking at. Jumped to an SL6 Emonda, and then went from that to a Prince (which of course I bought after finding your review on it). I loved that in your Tarmac vs segment (which is a great addition to the reviews by the way) that you were undecided between the two ;) Thanks for all the time you put in on these things to help keep the rest of us informed.

You bother to click 'like' on every photo I upload on Instagram as well as taking the time to put your thoughts down like this. Your time is so valuable in a sea of great contents here on UA-cam, I thank you so much. Tarmac, Emonda, and a Prince... your lineup couldn't be more awesome!
Had a custom build S Works Sl 6 disc now a custom, S Works SL 8. ( no roval wheels) I loved the SL 6 and so far it was the best ride I had (an there were a lot of great bikes). But after more than 2000 km on the SL8. The bike is in every category a big step ahead against the SL6
@@amdeichgescheitert5779I’m sure it is. I have multiple friends with the sworks SL7 currently and a few of them came from the SL6 to it. They all think the 7 was an improvement, so I’m sure jumping from 6 to 8 is a nice upgrade
I've always enjoyed throughly all of your videos and the amount of work it takes to create this channel. With that said am taking out a tarmac sl8 this week for a multi hour "for as long as I want" test ride. My height is 5'9" and apparently fall btw a 54/56. Bike shop tells me "you're totally a 54". Though my arms not freakishly long are slightly longer for my height and have gotten used to bikes on the larger size for my height for decades. The 54 Crux feels somewhat small (my only specialized experience) to me. So taking out a 56 tarmac to put this back and forth happening in my head to rest. I really want to get dialed in. Not hung up on numbers (54/56) just want to "feel at home" in the saddle. Like putting on your most comfortable shoes. Any thoughts or comments about sizing? Cheers!
if you have bikes at this price point its all up to rider in pro skill levels. We mortals will just get small gains. These bikes are built to accommodate pro riders. Non pros are riding on the hype. Ride the bike that best suit your riding
"Easiest bike to ride" - this tracks closely with my impression of the Aethos. I use the word "effortless" to describe the Aethos - pedaling and steering feel easier on this bike than any other bike I've ridden. Since the SL8 inherited some of the Aethos DNA, I have to imagine that's at least partially where it gets that quality from. If you like the SL8 that much, I think you'll really like the Aethos. From what I know, the Aethos has a very similar ride quality to the SL8 but is slightly more compliant.
I had an Aethos last year with Roval Rapide wheels and a set of shallow wheels, and put roughly 5000 miles on it. I then swapped to a Factor Ostro Vam for a few hundred miles, before selling and buying an Sworks SL8 frameset with Ultegra groupset, rapide wheels and cockpit. I have to say, the SL8 blows the aethos out the water - it's not even close (and I loved the aethos). They're the same in terms of geo (reach is 384mm for both models). The SL8 is as fast on climbs, much faster on flats and rolling hills and significantly better at out of the saddle sprints... Honestly I am blown away by how good it is!! The Aethos is still great, it's just in my opinion the SL8 is better in every way.
@@paulstewart5 this is interesting - I've actually never ridden any version of the Tarmac, since I found the Allez Sprint too stiff and racy for my taste (and the Tarmac as I understand is almost like the carbon version of the Allez Sprint). I generally prefer a slightly relaxed geometry and flexy frame, which are big reasons I like the Aethos, which has 10mm more stack than the Tarmac and is less stiff. I'm curious to try a Tarmac, but they're never in stock at my LBS.
@@paulstewart5 with your experience on both the Aethos and sl8. Do you think a Sl8 with shallow wheels like the Roval alpinist will be just as fast on the flats and hills compared to the Aethos with the deeper rapide? I have the sworks Aethos and was just curious.
@@stevele1342 just my opinion on this because I’ve not ridden the SL8 with shallow wheels: since I’ve ridden my Aethos for 1000’s of miles with rapides and now have the SL8 with rapides, the SL8 is the faster bike. I feel like I’ve lost nothing but gained significant speed on flats and mid percentage climbs. If you run the SL8 with shallow wheels you will lose some of the flat speed, however given that the Aethos is already slower I’d imagine the SL8 is either equal to the Aethos with deep wheels or marginally faster. The other point to consider is I went from Rapide CLX gen 1 on the Aethos to Rapide CLii which are 190g heavier, the SL8 still feels quicker to accelerate and maintain speed. Again my opinion is based on seeing an increase in speed from data and making an assumption about running the SL8 with shallow wheels (based on the difference I’ve seen with the Aethos on deep and shallow wheels). Hope that helps
@@stevele1342 the only other point to note, my main riding partner went from an Sworks Aethos with Alpinist CLX gen 1 with Dura Ace and now has an SL8 Pro (with rapides) and the conclusion is the same - best bike he’s ridden by some measure. (It was riding his SL8 for a few miles that convinced me to sell my 2 month old Ostro Vam to get one).
Wow, what an amazing review...great job DC...you have out done yourself with this one! If you would have asked me before the review, I would have predicted that this race bike (yes, the Tarmac is a race bike) would have been too aggressive and potentially too harsh....I was very surprised by your findings on the comfort, especially on the longer rides...not what I was expecting! With this is mind, would I consider this bike for myself for my next upgrade? Probably not. Based on my age, riding characteristics, flexibility, etc. I am firmly in the category of rider who needs to be on a bike with a more endurance setup. I am currently on the Pinarello Prince (and I LOVE it)...I appreciated your 'no comment' on the Prince vs. Tarmac comparison, the bikes are too different in their construction and purpose to give an honest comparison. For me, my current lust for the my next bike is the Pinarello X or a fully custom Ti setup. I love the 'would you rather' comparisons, please keep those coming! As you stated, I agree that not making a choice when the bikes are too different is a valid option, however, you could still add in a 'pick' in those instances based purely on the scenario 'I know that they are too different to directly compare, but if I can only have one of these two for the rest of my life I would pick XYZ and this is why'. Finally, I loved your practical advice for the average rider on a reasonable spec. for this (or any) bike!! There is so much talk about the out of control pricing in the cycling industry right now and much of that talk is legitimate. What I believe is missing from those discussions is moving away from the 'sticker shock' of the 15-18k bike by realizing that unless you are racing for a paycheck, there is a 99.9% chance that is not the right bike for you. I believe we are starting to see bike vendors doing a better job of producing models of a given bike across multiple specs and thus price points. Instead of a 15k bike that is not right for you, with some reasonable spec changes, the bike is now 7k and perfectly fit for the job. To be clear, 5k (or more) for a bike is still a huge amount of money, however, it is not 15k. You are doing a huge service to your viewers by providing your input on reasonable specifications....well done my friend! Finally, going back to the recent CycPlus video, I went with the Pro Max option...I got the big boy! I will let you know what I think when it arrives!
You say you don't notice a difference between this and "out and out aero bikes", but your extensive list of bikes is almost entirely non-aero focused bikes. Also, doesn't matter if you zero out and recalibrate your power meter...you can really only compare power numbers on the same power meter. It is common for different power meters to read differently. So if you're comparing to a different meter on a different bike, that's not really even.
Great points. My 3 years aboard Cervelo S3 and current Ribble Ultra SLR going on about 1.25 years would very much define aero I would say. As to power meters, what I didn't bother mentioning in the video was that I swapped the crank arm power meter between the 2 bikes currently ridden. So, I'm confident in what I went through in terms of eliminating variables when it comes to the power meter discrepancies.
What is your seat height ? Did you need to get a longer seatpost for the 52 ? Looking at the geometry and the minimum insertion requirements, anything over 700mm seems to not fit with a 52 frame
from the center of crankset to the top surface of the saddle, I run 27 7/8 inches. I got whatever the seatpost that came with the frameset. Minimum insertion point definitely not an issue at least where I have it for mine anyway. A great point however!
Hi DC, thanks for the timely review. I just bought a SL8 frameset but can’t find the Royal Rapide integrated bar/stem in my size either. I was wondering how you had the Black Inc bar mounted? Did you use the upper transition spacer that bike comes with? If you were to have used spacers would the fit have looked right?
that roval rapide cockpit is like unicorn turd, people have heard about one but no one can find one LOLOLOL... I used the stock Specialized topcap aka dustcap with no issue. Like I mentioned in the episode, the Factor bar fit like as if it was made for this frame.
Thanks for the reply DC. I'm thinking about the Black Inc "integrated bar stem". I think you got the "aero integrated bar stem" which is a little pointed towards the front (like an arrow) when looking down at it (this one has more flare which I don't want).
@@steve_m.3403 Hi Steve. The one I had on my Factor Ostro VAM was the normal integrated cockpit of theirs which did not have any flare. Then, the one you see here is their "new" which I think if I remember correctly, use for their road AND gravel bikes. the flare is pretty pronounced for non-gravel riders if you ask me. There are days I love the flare and there are days I kinda don't care for the flare.
Hey DC, wouldn't you know it, Specialized actually have the Royal Rapid Cockpit in stock now! So I went ahead and ordered the size I wanted for my build. Probably the safer way for me to go.
Mr. Acayan, you are silly introducing yourself. We rode together a bunch of times! I review after long term experience so if you want to be separated from your bike for a few months...... I appreciate the offer but I wouldn't do that to ya.
I have to disagree about the looks. IMO the it’s slightly less good looking than the sl7 which was imo one of the best looking bikes I’ve ever seen. Hoever I still think this bike is absolutely gorgeous. Yes the head tube is different but when you see it in person it really grows on you.
If wenn factor and tarmac were the same price. Even if the factor was 1000 dollar cheaper, which one would you choose with the same components and why? I honestly don't understand why you chose Tarmac over the two.
Hi. Thanks for your time watching! Well, it's just one man's opinion at the end of the day. Doesn't mean that my assessment is right. In the end, either bike would suit very well. While I really liked my Ostro VAM and it was one hell of a bike, I thought it was a bit overpriced at the time. I don't know what they go for currently. Non S-Works version of Tarmac I show here is still an expensive bike all things considered but I felt like it was more "all-arounder" than the Ostro VAM which is a "all-arounder".
@@DiabeticCycling Hi Thanks for your time to answering me. :) I just didn't understand from what perspective you thought that way. I understand now. No judgement. Have a nice day. ;)
Hi John. So as I weaseled out of my way picking between some bikes citing how apple to orange, I almost feel like that should've been done for the RM as well. RM undoubtedly marketed as and built as a "only bike one needs" instead of "pro race" bike SL8 is built as. RM has a longer wheelbase and geometry suited for every man rather than 23 year old 135 lbs pro dancing up Ventoux doing 460 watts. That said in my personal experience, RM was a great bike but with some odd handling characteristics especially at the front end. Seeing SL8 is plenty comfortable on long grueling days, RM did not pose relatable advantage when pitted against. Do keep in mind all this is just my personal opinion, not anything factual. Do take with a grain of salt.
Hi Duncan. No, I have not although a homie of mine was on his new Ostro alongside me on a few rides where I got to inspect her some. I will get my fat ass on his at least to provide some comparison against the previous gen which was mine at some point.
Hi I see mixed dura ace wheels , do you think is there any differences between both c 50 and mixed 50 , 60 , aero , problem with wind, are they good for climbing vs c36
Hi Peter. Sorry for a reply so late... If it still matters - a set of C36 front/rear weigh about 100 grams less than a set of C50 front/rear. I do "NOT" notice weight difference on climbs rolling on a set of 50s. The staggered config I run with deeper wheels in the rear with shallower ones up front are mostly for dealing with less crosswind.
Tarmac SL8 pricing just plain sucks. In europe we can buy supersix evo 3 (gen 4) with 105di cheaper then sl8 non-sworks frame. Of cause it has throw away wheels, saddle and handlebars. But even after updating wheels to shimano dura-ace c50 at current prices, good saddle and one-pience handlebars it is still cheaper then Tarmac SL8 Expert, which has subpar Roval c38 wheels, Sram Rival and previous gen stem/handlebars.
@@DiabeticCycling shared your feelings on the "internet".... here be dragons brother!!! As an Aethos LOVER, I didn't give the SL8 a fair shake, I may re-think, unless I need to wait to watch your Hi-MOD review :D

LOL great observation! There is a method to the madness however. I definitely don't hoard!!! But do believe me that I am as normal as normal can get. I struggle with the same things every man does. Truth!!!
I have not although my riding partner whom I share the most number of miles with was on a Jamis Xenith for a few years. I recall him citing how dead stiff it is, no compliance.
@DiabeticCycling Thanks for the reply. I agree. The older Xenith frame is super stiff and unforgiving. In 2014, it was redesigned with skinnier seatstays and a mix of M30/M40 carbon tubes. I have both frames and find the newer frame more comfortable. Unfortunately, Jamis stopped making road bikes.
A fair point. I do that just so I can buy just one size rotors to freely move around between wheels and bikes. Buying 2 different sizes limit my ability to move them around.
Maybe it's me, but I felt like I was on a ride in a rocking chair. Your narration seems to wander back and forth to some degree. I was looking to see this because I thought it would be a focused review, but in the end it was really a comparison piece. Not Bad, but Not Great either!
I'd love one of these but for the price there's too many bikes out there that are just as good or better in their more specialized - no pun intended - field
Exactly. As I said multiple times over multiple episodes, once you get above certain $ point, no company makes bad bikes. Yes, one should avoid a $125 tank from a Walmart if serious about riding, but after you go past whatever $ that can be set as a barometer, SL8, TM, TCR, F, Madone, Ostro, Oltre, whatever will all pretty much provide great experience especially at the every man level.
@@DiabeticCycling over a year ago...i researched all bikes that caught my eye and dived deeper into those that meet my budget. I ended up with a Prince :) love your content btw. keep it going!
Thought your content was good. But you lost me when you started describing the SL8 in terms of a woman. I'm a guy, but can we all just stop referring to bikes as "She"! Its weird and creepy. Why start sexualising a bike. Especially comparing it to "charlotte the neighborhood hottie". Its creepy old man stuff. Its a bike. Just say it looks cool. Puts off women from road cycling. TBH its a waste of a good video.
Nate, Thanks for your time watching first and foremost. What you said is 100% genuine and something I can respect, not some internet troll dropping worthless and senseless comment as I often find doing this thing. The thought did cross my mind as I was shooting that it could potentially rub some folks wrong coming off as something a sexist would say. I assure you that it came from nothing more than me trying to make an analogy that would be relatable by the audience which youtube shows it being 100% male. You are absolutely correct in that even a man could find it offensive, and that's something I need to be more cognizant of going forward. Having to walk the fine line of generalizing to make the content widely understandable, I also should not generalize the audience either. Trust that I come from no ill intent, also a father of a 21 year old daughter. While I don't ever apologize for my narrative, I want to take this opportunity to show my gratitude you pointing that out, and apologize to you for what came off insensitive. I recognize.
While trying to create an analogy the audience can easily relate to, I recognize that portion could've come off completely insensitive. A terrible oversight on my part.
105 vs Ultegra 👍🏼 yes please
I got the new di2 105 and my best friend has the ultegra. Neither one of us can tell the difference.

Supersix episode coming next week then followed by Canyon Ultimate the following week, sir.
Really enjoy your perspective reviewing the sl8. Subscribed!
Thank you so much!
Great comprehensive and objective review!
Patrick, thank you so much!
Honest review. Love it
Hi Albert. Thank you so much for that. Much appreciated.
Love your channel! Surprised you'd pick the Ribble over the SL8, that decision would probably make a good video in itself...
Enjoy your style of narration BTW.
You have no idea how much I appreciate this sentiment. Thank you SO MUCH!
@@DiabeticCycling I appreciate the no F given attitude sprinkled in there. Sometime, channels like yours are the best ones. I. e, doing it as a hobby not too "commercial".
Hope youll compare the Ultimate CF SLX to the Tarmac SL8 one day 😊 as always, great video DC!
Thanks, Mike! Who knows.... Your Ultimate might make a cameo appearance when I do that exactly!

How tall are you? I’m 5’11 and 3/4”
Need to figure out if I should get the 56 or 58 Roubaix…
@@Nick-zz4qr I'm 181cm and the 56 fits perfect. The tarmac comes with a 100cm stem for that size, which it is spot on for me.
@@sbellidog sounds like I’ll need to get a 58!
@@Nick-zz4qr 58 for your height IMHO is too much (181cm is basically 5'11") . I'd try both if I were you. Cheers!
Great in depth review DC im thinking of getting a soloist for my road machine
Just found your channel, awesome.
Nice video! As someone else has said, appreciate you also referencing other bikes (i'm coming off a S3 myself) so that's a good benchmark for for comparison. Reviews like this are far and few between the marketing shills or anti specialized videos.
Boskasaurus! Thank you so much for that. Everything I wish my channel to be, you said in one short comment. :) That S3, such a rocket...
Duane.... You know what I appreciate about you is how you are true supporter of me.
Ride the bike that best suit your riding
couldn't have said it better myself. if I said it, I would say all that in a 40 minute video rambling on forever I reckon. :)
I really want the SuperSix to be better than this. Can’t wait for that one ❤
Love the Amazon bottle cages they stopped making those a couple of years ago, 16g each.
LOL are they from Amazon? I don't even know what where how I have them... Great to know though!
Oh they’re back. “PERGEAR Black Carbon Fiber Lightweight Bicycle Water Bottle Cage for Cycling - Pack of 2”
Really nice episode. 👍
Thank you so much!
Finally! Thanks bro😂
Thank you for spending your time watching!!!!
Batman. We are BFF by now, right? :D

Tarmac all day 🥳

Hi Steve. 16.5 with pedals, cages, computer mount, and sealant in wheels.
I have to disagree about the looks. IMO the it’s slightly less good looking than the sl7 which was imo one of the best looking bikes I’ve ever seen. Hoever I still think this bike is absolutely gorgeous. Yes the head tube is different but when you see it in person it really grows on you.
I really cannot warm up to the look of the front end of this SL8. I'm happy with my Soloist.

I'd take the TCR if pitted against.

Have a nice day. ;)
When you compared the sl8 with the bmc roadmachine. Can you expound a little more?
Have you ridden the new Factor Ostro?

That is craaazzyyy..... One thing I need to pay attention going forward is the outside of US pricing and discrepancies. A great point, sir!

Too heavy
Did you ride a Jamis Xenith?
I have not although my riding partner whom I share the most number of miles with was on a Jamis Xenith for a few years. I recall him citing how dead stiff it is, no compliance.
@DiabeticCycling Thanks for the reply. I agree. The older Xenith frame is super stiff and unforgiving. In 2014, it was redesigned with skinnier seatstays and a mix of M30/M40 carbon tubes. I have both frames and find the newer frame more comfortable. Unfortunately, Jamis stopped making road bikes.
❤😊
Also, really no point in using a 160mm rear disc at your weight.
A fair point. I do that just so I can buy just one size rotors to freely move around between wheels and bikes. Buying 2 different sizes limit my ability to move them around.
@@DiabeticCycling But if you always have 160 front and always 140 rear then no issue right?
You have to do more than 1,000 miles before to have a good opinion 😮

I ended up with a Prince :) love your content btw. keep it going!
Thought your content was good. But you lost me when you started describing the SL8 in terms of a woman. I'm a guy, but can we all just stop referring to bikes as "She"! Its weird and creepy.
How can you put shit wheels on a tarmac sl8, criminal.
