Splendid job guys.
No jigs,no extensive work shop gadgets,,no documentation, manuals.
Yet these guys ,keep their brains in their hands ,for a fine finish .
Wel done.
This brings back memories of my father and I repairing the family car in the garage. I didn't enjoy it at the time, but now I miss it. Thank you for the video.
Nice to see someone actually rebuilding a water pump as opposed to just replacing it. This is the way to do things - 100% top marks
Absolutely fantastic. I love that his bench vise is two of his buddies, and that the overspray from the paint just drifted onto the side of the truck in the background, and that when the seal didn't fit, there was no pause in the work--just get the torch! LOVE IT!!!
Jeez, I'd love to grab you guys and transport you to a modern, well-equipped workshop and see just how much better you could be. I really am humbled by what you achieve with so little. You should feel very proud of yourselves because I know I am. Well done guys
This is common in india. The Garage in front of my house in india has a similar setup and does the same. People in India don't learn from books they learn from others and while working so they are all skills. Plus no bs health n safety we have in the west. So they can work in flip-flops.
@@DIPEN56 When this engine was manufactured, the garages in England was on about same technical level as in theis clip.

@@bengtgronlund9447 I was thinking just that. A pure nuts and bolts build and repair/restoration. Simpler times. Progress has its benefits, and attendant complexities.
@@LakshmananLM, well said.
After watching many time lapse videos of US big blocks rebuilds in sterile workshops with the latest and greatest full-auto equipment and computer supported tuning, this video made me smile from ear to ear 😁!! Honest hard manual work outside on a classic English engine... I really enjoyed watching this vid, job well done!
It made me think of dismantling my Triumph T140E engine in my shed...
👍
It's the way i do it, nothin fancy a good workbench made solid, get my cast iron
engine upon it with a hoist, wrenches, rags torque wrench carb cleaner an all that
good stuff an start tearing into it, it's not the space shuttle as tarylfixesall says.
it's the only real way ta learn about this stuff, putting a compression gage on the
engine and comparing readings when valves have been refaced and lapped, proper
valve lash, maybe a ring job? pull apart the carb and clean out Gerty's emulsion tube
properly serviced air cleaner, its all good. I work on portable generators so I know
you have to have a well running engine to turn a genny of rated KW.
This brings back memories of repairing my first cars engine. No engine stand, bench or even a workshop, just basic hand tools. Looks primitive, but it works with these simple engines. Having those engine remanufacturer tools at the end were a luxury I never had.
I loved working on these motors back in the days when you modified your engines for more HP all by yourself. It was fun.
Great Job!! Definitely as thorough as they could have been with what they have, and they even honed the block, new bearings etc they have come a long way and improved a lot
AaaaaaqASSäAa
This is an engine that I could easily O/H since I am familiar with all its principles. At 92, this age mechanical
tech is right up my alley!
Great job...in Indonesia also still have 1 Moris minor was very famous in movie as DUL ANAK SEKOLAHAN...belong to Aktor Rano Karno...hahaha
Nice! I learned how to drive with a manual transmission in a Morris Minor. Thanks for sharing.
Ha ha so did I !

From North Queensland, Australia. Thanks for the great videos. I watch each one...keep it up & thank you.
Australia 0-1 VietNam
Great workmanship there.... Not keeping the conrod big-end caps matched, and putting the pistons down on concrete.... Shows years of training and expertise.....
The valves, springs and push rods all grabbed in a bundle 😟
Can't wait to see the rest of the car get rebuilt. Good job.
Tienes que lá tuba rebiboca da parafuseta e si noeste soys orações .

I have one full rebuild 1952 Morris. You can see the video in my channel. Originally restored as stock
I enjoy all videos on engine rebuilding, but the videos like this one tell me that rebuilding an engine is easier than I thought. Thank you for the video.
Ahahahah, look how things was simple an easy, an look how complicated it become, honestly I really miss the good ole days !!
Looks good. I do have one warning though.
On rod and main bearings..
NEVER put oil on the side that does not have a a rotating surface.
Such as when you go to install your crank and rod bearings, they need to be DRY.
It can cause you to spin a bearing because the excess oil can force the bearing away from its mounting surface.
Speaking from past experience.
:)
100% worked on cat and Volvo's no oil on mains or rod caps only on bearing faces....
Back in the mid-60s when I moved to Texas had a girlfriend whose dad was a church of Christ preacher. He had a couple of Morris minors that he enjoyed rehabbing. Watched him go through the engine on one of them and at the time I kind of chuckled because I was running a big Chrysler V8. I thought his engine looked like the starter on my car. His cars are probably still running. Mines probably been scrapped, put on a steamer to Japan rebuilt into a new car, worn out shipped back remelted into yet another new car. Enjoyed the video!
Being a 1956 engine, it will be one of the last of the 803cc A-series (not 850cc), as fitted to the Series II Morris Minor, prior to them going to 948cc for the 1956-on Morris Minor 1000. The spin-on oil filter is one identifying feature; for some reason, they fitted a cartridge-type oil filter (more awkward to replace!) to the later Morris Minor versions...
cracking job lads thank you great to see people who know what to do to a old engine and back to life .
That's what you call "old school" ! good work there gents
I quite enjoyed watching this. I have rebuilt a number of those engines for minis.
WOW! he fixed a water pump. Great job guys. I like the color. Looks like British racing green.
Brought back memories, served my 6 year apprenticeship with BMC. used have old ladies bringing in the Minors for 6, 7 - 10 year service, with only 8 or 9 thousand miles on them, going to the village store or church and return
In early 1950s I was in Europe and bought a used Morris minor convertible. We drove it all over Europe and brought it back to Florida. It had several owners after that I saw it often it had a long life.
Nice restoration. And thanks for using ambient sound and not some horrible musical track over it. Keep up the great work.
Hands on mechanic.. Birds in the background. Beautiful green paint. Great atmosphere. No Covid.
That was great, you guys sure know & love what you are doing!
High protective sandals with ventilation for confort performance during job .👍

Yes mum.

Been following you guys for a while.
Excellent work!
And I must commend your team on building up on tools that make DIY people like myself droolll 😎💯💯💯💯
I started my working life on those engines and others like them, simple , reliable and easy to fix. Nothing is simple any more !.
As a mechanic myself, it's very satisfying to hear the clicking sound of a torque wrench.
Well done guys!! A very good restoration, it will last for decades now! keep up the good work, like the vids ;-))
I watched this video with low expectations at the beginning, however I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. Well done 👍
why low expectations?
Welcome to the boys that LOVES this!
Excellent work. Wow, 3 layers of paint! That was my first car, Thanks guys. Ronn
Amazing work gentleman what a pleasure it was to see the morris survive and live another life.Well done.
Power tools and flip flops. Gotta love it! Greetings from Seattle, Washington USA
Bloody brilliant restoration my friends. Such a well known car here, so you have my respect. Incredible job
Very satisfying to watch, thank you.
Very satisfying, nice to see the dynamo still in use
It’s a joy to watch you work, Parts don’t seem to be a problem 😃. Nice
*Perfect! Beautiful bro, good job.*
The days of simple engineering, simple engines to work on.
Could often listen and look, then know what needs fixing!

How I love this! As a youngster I lived in Malaysia in the early 70's and saw those cars there. BEST years of my life! Thanks to my buddies Silvaraj, Razah, Durairaj (Mousey) and my next-door neighbor in Kuala Pilah, Mr. Kuljit Singh.
It’s fun watching people work on these smaller engines
And so lovely and relaxing to watch each stage- well done!
Excelent job guys !! I have overhauled several engines in my garage and driveway.
Send me your number l have a project
A credit to yourselves, well done love the Moggy engine
First motor I tore down and rebuilt at 15 years old. Given to my dad, sat in the shed. Eventually used the head on my Midget when a valve burned out.
Oh man, I remember those old SU carbs. Nice job.
That engine can't get any simpler than that. What a beauty
Love your videos,,,, the best part no silly dilly music-- keep up your great videos
WOW ! Having owned a Austin Healy Sprite MKIII, that is one familiar engine . My first engine rebuild was the 1098 version of this block.
So cool...what a sound of that engine. Well done guys. Truly awesome video.
And a nice "Environmentally Friendly" restoration it was.
Jaja, they dont have any chance..good job
Just for future reference you’re only supposed to put assembly lube on the inner layer of main and rod bearings. Putting assembly lube around the outside of the bearings increases likelihood of spinning the bearing.
Is not good ander the bearings to putting assembly lube is not alowo that misteik
@@ebrahimi44 its regular assembly lube but the main crankshaft and rod bearings need to be dry when installed to have friction and prevent spun bearings
was literally thinking the same not saying was a bad job just saying for future references like you said haha.
A drop of oil on the pistons wouldn’t go amiss either, looks like he put them in dry. Im glad Im not his wife!

Congratulations from Brasil.
Thanks for putting this up really enjoyed watching this well done
Keep it up guys! Love watching your videos!
Mesmerising watching you guys work. Would love to strip down an 'A' series as you do so efficiently and with great effect. Well done!
great job, showing the build as you did. enjoyed watching. Just subscribed. Australia.

This is a prefect example of making due with what you have. Good Job!!!
Parabéns! 🇧🇷 Lindo trabalho, excelente profissional! 👍👏👏
As a rule I never comment on UA-cam. But this was an amazing job. As a kid we travelled as a family around the UK in a Morris Traveler.
good job on the build!
That is the example what we making and what we have... We r Sri Lankans... ❤️ keep it up..🤩
This engine looks so simple but try and make one yourself. There are so many little things that need to be right you cannot even think about.
There are decades of engineering experience behind this single lump of iron. My respect. It stood the test of time better than most.
Great video ! 👍
*sees a RofE vid in feed*
Me: I wanna see some mechanic sandals
0:14 was not disappointed
Talk about rough and ready...but these guys make do with what they have and good on them for that!
Looks like they have all the gear.
Brings back memories...my father was an engine fitter working for Rover and so he didn't mind taking engines apart and putting them back together in the early 60's, teaching me in the process. He never used a torque wrench reckoning his "feel" was more accurate.
Good 'ole A series 803cc engine: three main bearings and tiny big-end bearings (didn't last long on the new-fangled motorways) plus no tensioner on the timing belt. Thankfully improved over the years but they always had a good appetite for oil IMHO.
Utter skill and genius. They are brilliant technicians.
Excellent work you are a genius😍👍
All done with long sleeved shirts sandals and clean jeans...I cant go near an engine without getting covered with oil!!!!
That's what I was thinking only got to look at my van engine I'm covered lol
Must be fr bangladesh

Not interested in health and safety thats for sure
@WATER-MAN you cant control life like you cant control death
This 800 c.c car was a most nostalgic and amazing car in 50's with many sweet memories.
Great little engines. Absolutely nothing fancy, 950ccs of ho-hum reliability. Joseph Lucas (the prince of darkness) electrics You could use leads from a carpenter pencil glued together for dynamo brushes, and other cob-ups that got you going and lasted pretty well. Notice the projection on the rear of the starter. It was squared off so you could put a wrench on it and turn it backwards if the starter drive got stuck (no kidding) there was even a wrench in the tool kit to fit it. Built one in my dorm room in engineering school, drove the RA nuts. Great fun. Never knew what MOWOG stood for, but I remember it. Thanks for the memories.
Parabéns!! Trabalho de Primeira Categoria! 👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷

I find these videos are amazing, how long did it take from start to finish to restore this engine. I really love it that nothing bothers you about anything, broken, just make a new one, damaged edges, sand them back, weld it up and file down until it fits, fantastic work guys, and all on the garage floor, lol 😂
Impressionante, parabéns!!🇧🇷👍👍

They did a great job , with what was available to them 👍👍👍
Very good. A simple restoration but a fine working engine now. Certainly not as complicated or as expensive as a new engine.
These guy know their way around and engine.
These Guys know their way around engines? My friend you need to see a shrink.
So many technical mistakes so it is a surprise that everything is going well. Anyway thanks for the video.
It's an light duty motor. I doubt they'll be going over 120 kph for prolonged periods of time. It'll be fine.
Work of art - well done!

What’s stopping you from overhauling a modern engine in your shed?
The connecting rod caps go with their respective connecting rod feet and in their original position on the crankshaft (cylinder 1, connecting rod 1 and cap 1 ... etc), you do the same with the crankshaft caps (although with this there is no mistake because they are different from each other), however when you disassemble the cranks you do not pair them so you do not make a mistake later when mounting them ... but you put it all in the same boat, a little sloppy
.
Just for that detail, the motor can vibrate or break parts, and therefore may not work 100%....
Thank goodness you at least change the caps 👍 and you use dynamometric.
I8[ii
