- This video was created by Miles Spilsbury. Check out how he uses his blackbox!
Miles plays saxophone and synthesizers in the English experimental rock act The Physics House Band.

I’ve done the EXACT same thing! Great video!
Blackbox is a bless for live backing tracks
I play with a band and use some synths and Elektron boxes alongside it. Routable click that just works without me having to even check it, multiple outputs and then it’s a really good, clear sounding stereo sampler. Everything Digitakt can’t do:)
Awesome.
Thx for this
What if you want to "dj" full songs together? Is this possible if the wav files have the same bpm?
Really cool. It seems like the a blue box might even be better for this maybe.
How is the bluebox better for backing tracks? Love to hear that.
@@shookstylez If you needed to make level (or other) changes to tracks on the fly... the BlueBox would be better.
Can you do this and also designate one shot samples to other pads and play them on the fly while the backing track is playing?
Yes
Thanks for this video. I've been trying to use this with audio stems plus midi files but long midi files don't seem to load properly. Have contacted support and they suggested cutting up the midi file into sections
Have you found a solution? I would like to buy a Blackbox for the same reason (play audio sets with MIDI files)
Thanks in advance for your answer
Do you have to set the length of the song on the sequencer page? Other wise won’t it re-trigger the pads assuming it’s left on a short 4bar length.
True. Each seq has its own Step Length & Step Size setting. Together, you can create a sequence at almost any length.
I have not found a way to make the BLUEbox functional as a backing track player…that’s really why I bought it.
Have you checked with our forum and users? There are many using it his way. You can always contact us directly for support. Happy to help!
@@1010music well everything I read & researched on the forum didn’t completely give me what I was looking for but the bluebox doesn’t have a built in skip forward or rewind button or pause track option anyway which is what I would think anyone would need for a legit track player or arranger. If I was desperate enough I could create all my tracks as one long song with gaps in between but no way to pause. It’s ok it’s a great little mixer anyway that I will find a use for.
Thanks for the feedback! I may look into the black box at some point like the video has to see if it works for me.
@@1010music can you guys make a green box that is specifically for non computer track play back. All it would need is a bunch of outputs, a midi out to trigger lights and whatever else, and some headphone sends. Seems like you could work it into your current architecture. would also be cool to be able to build clicks inside the box with count offs and stuff. I'll buy one!
I am also wondering this. I am searching for so many years for a simple backing track player, which can do sync or maybe even time warping.
@@s2_cool756 me too lol
Can you add a multisample into a song (preset) to be controlled via Midi (controller)?
absolutely!
I've almost bought this for the same reason. Can it scrub through audio at all (ff/rw) because sometimes I try and remix my stems or especially extend parts and sometimes have to go and listen back to make sure I did everything to liking, but it gets mindnumbing listening through a whole song over and over. Stopped using octatrack for backing tracks because of this same reason, though there were other reasons why it sucked as a backing track machine. I use an MPC live now but without disk streaming its absolutely annoying making 4 projects for one set, though it is a breeze *creating* it.
There is no traditional FF/RW but you can set the start/play position so you can do what you are asking.
@@1010music that’s fantastic, all that really matters tbh.
Hi guys, great video! Would it be possible to import a midi file (type 1) that contains midi cc (for DigiTech Whammy) and program changes (for Lehle Dual SGoS) and have it play along in sync with the backing tracks? cheers
Unfortunately, no.The sequencer does not currently capture or playback MIDI CC.
@@1010music thank you for the response. anyways, seems to be a great product.
@@denhah6814 I think it can be done with the newest update 2.0. Not sure though, but they have added Midi-only sequences, so it's very propable that cc will work too
@@1010music ~ No CC no likey
sorry to disappoint you.
Does the Blackbox have Bluetooth?
What’s the simplest system for audio out?
The blackbox does not offer bluetooth. It does feature four stereo audio outputs for connecting to external gear.
