I’ve come a long way as a graphic designer since my college days at Chico State. In this video, I wanted to react to some of my old graphic design work. I hope this video will not only help me get through some of my imposter syndrome but also who y’all how much you can improve when you stay consistent in the world of design.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with your community! Like you said not only does it help with your imposter syndrome and show yourself how far you have come but you're giving so much inspiration and motivation to your community as well in showing us hey we all start somewhere and to keep designing and improving! Awesome job as always! So happy I found your channel! Would you ever consider taking one of these and redoing them at the level you are at today?

I love seeing other designers humble beginnings and how far they’ve come! Thanks for sharing your work :) I think whenever I’m in a creative slump it’s inspiring to look back at my old work and see how far I’ve come lol

I appreciate you sharing your early work with us! Staying consistent is definitively one of the hardest parts but overcoming that will open up a lot of doors. I thought all of your early posters looked awesome (I'm barley starting out), but its inspiring to see how far you've come!!

Damn, all the cool stuff that you're telling about your college days makes me jealous a lil bit 🙂
Seems like it's a more fun way to learn design than sitting at home watching youtube tutorials all day.
And by the way yeah, it's a cool poetry book that you made, looks really professional.

Jesse, this video was so helpful! In my second year studying graphic design in college, but I've honestly learned so much more from watching your videos along with many of the other designers you've interviewed, than I have from my school, lmao. I'm also absolutely guilty of being in my Swiss design phase rn.

Incredible to see how far you've come, and it's encouraging to see where you started out and how much you tried and changed before reaching where you are now.

I am a 17 year old graphic designer still studying (graphic design) and you saying that everyone goes through a swiss phase resonated with me so much. I am just so in love with the bauhaus style right now which is very close to swiss.

It would be dope to see you try and “remaster” these with the skillset you have now

Hey man, I’m currently 24 years old and working in construction (which I hate, but feel as if I’ve been forced) I’ve always loved cartooning and design in general but the last few years i haven’t found the time or money to continue my passion, I’ve been watching your videos and graphic design videos in general! My main question is where do I start, considering I only have the general cartooning and drawing skills and most importantly what is a budget laptop I can start with? Because every video I find is saying the MacBook Pro or $1000 laptops ect. Would just love if you could make a video on starting from scratch or a budget friendly guide on laptops and accessories necessary for design, cheers man!

19:22 would you say it's a good or bad idea to re-design a local small business' brand if you think it looks off? Or add something to it following the existing brand? I assume it's fine to include in a public online portfolio as it looks like you did as well, but would it be advised to approach the business with the work too? I feel like it could be perceived as rude idk

14:36 I dont know if it's just a US thing but I find it remarkably weird to give away something like that for free for an employer who could toss it out. It costs a lot of money (for low-income earners or unemployed) to make something like that. I feel like business cards is a nice mid point but then again it may seem arrogant to leave a business card if youre applying for entry level roles. Hm
