ok lowbudget guy lol
Awesome looking stuff! Excited to see the final film!
It’s amazing how much set design plays a part for cinematic imaging
THIS! So many videos on cameras and setting for the "cinematic look" but really, what matters is WHAT THAT CAMERA is shooting
Huge congrats buddy. It’s fantastic watching your talent be recognized. You’ve gotten really good really fast and we’ve learned a lot from you along the way.
Looks really great! I think your "messy" bounces on the ceiling give an authentic light vs the sometimes contrived, "clean", look when you know they just had 30 sky panels on the ceiling. Impressive to see how it looks with such a modest studio. No doubt someone also did an amazing job with the set pieces.
I’m gearing up to direct my first feature in December. It’s stressful because I’m self-funding what I can and pulling a ton of favors, but this BTS gives me a ton of inspiration and energy to make it all happen!
Bro’s vibe is totally Deakins, and I’m here for it.
Your idea of low budget is wayyyyyyy different than mines. LMAO
welcome to film bud
Scale matters. Compared to other world war movies, this is not even a 10th of the budget of those. So by all means this is a low budget movie.
It's most definitely all relative. For our production crew, low budget is £200-250,000 or about $260-320,000 US. For someone else, it could be as low as £4-5,000, as per Christopher Nolan's first feature, which I believe set him back around $6,000.
As long as you're focussing on story and bringing something compelling to the screen, your budget could be £1,000 and I'd happily sit glued to the screen to watch it.
@@kris4637 Perfectly put. If we look at, for example, 1917, and the scale and depth of that film, this would indeed be very low budget.
Low budget isn't no budget lol
I know these actors! I didn't know you were on this. I am a Oklahoma Cinematographer and have been following you for years! Jonah says he loves working with you. so cool to see this.
Love it. Very cool! Love that use of the Rock-n-roller cart as a dolly!
The set dressing looks really good!
Good job Spencer, looks like a lot of fun. Glad you're using your own kit, it's more than capable enough and you know it well.
I'd love to know what the budget was for a film like this? Looks incredible!
Looks fantastic Spencer! Proud to have your talent here! Cannot wait to see this film!
Awesome stuff dude! Came in and did some looping for you guys. Hope to get in front of your lens soon enough!
😍😍😍 Flat Out Beautiful, Such a Canvas You Got There Can’t Wait To See The Finished Product!
yes this is the stuff!!!! great work and thanks for sharing creativity and innovation like this keep pushing!
Looks fantastic. If you didn’t tell me that you used a video-wall, I wouldn’t have even known. It really looks that good. Bravo!!!
Looks sick
Well done
Congrats!
More power to you Spenser ❤❤❤
This is amazing work! super excited to see your breakdowns and the movie itself! it looks interesting!
Am so in stocked with this. Am happy for you... So much challenges so much fun.
Am saving up to put up something like this. But never thought of the LCD screen.. will just use green & blue screens.
This is awesome and sentimental. Great work
Looking really good. It takes a village. Great work, guys!
Bro this is so badass. Happy for you
Looks so good so far! Can't wait to hear more!
Looks legit man!! Way to go. Excited to watch
Looks great Spenser! Stoked to see more
Amazing, great job! It's a tremendous leap in your growth.
Good for you brother!
This looks awesome work, well done! I'm intrigued to know more about the LED wall, who supplies it? It's a great alternative to volume!
Nice 🤩, thanks for the BTS. I'm glad you've reached this stage in your career.
Looks amazing. Looking forward to seeing it.
This is very exciting, Spencer!
Congratulations! 🍾 and wishing you luck!! 🍀
For a first feature, the shots look amazing.
Looking amazing!!! good work. my tip: skintones could use a bit more color, but loving the aesthetic
not final grade obviously
@@spensersakurai I feel you. Either way, looking amazing 🫡💯
i really like how minimalistic it is. You can see its not a hollywood budget film by their set and equipment and nevertheless the result speaks for itself. Its nice to see the evolution of technology 😋
I am from India and I have been following you from your early days.. Happy for you man.. God speed❤
Amazing stuff. Can’t wait to see it. I got to shoot my 1st feature last year. 100 pages in 10 days 💀 but it was worth every second.
Amazing! Congrats on all y’all’s hard work!
I've been doing my own short film stuff recently with a focus on War/weapons content myself and this video is amazing, thanks for making it and ty TY algorithm for suggesting it to me. really sparks my neurons and gives me ideas!
I'm not a professional by any means compared to you but this is fantastic use of technology. Especially facinates me about using UE for the backscreen, especially since I've built maps in UE before. Now i want a studio like this haha.
looking forward to seeing how the film turns out!
So stoked!
Looks amazing!!!
Wow, these images are really high level! Congrats.
What a dream to have an exterior scene with the convenience of a studio.
These clips look fantastic!
Looks great
0:36 Oh, that's cool, even Liam Neeson starred in your film.
This is the coolest thing ever.
This is so sick man! Congrats!
Great stuff, some good tips here, about to start my first feature...
Inspiring! Can you actually talk a bit more about the virtual production part? Like did you rent the walls, what kind of a PC setup you used and did you track the camera for live background?
I see that on 13:40 you tracked the camera!
Pretty cool BTS and analysis Spenser!
Looks great man, well freaking done.
you killed it man
sick bro, cant wait to see it
Spenser, looking good. Thanks for sharing.
I still cant believe they got Liam Neeson for this movie! (for real though I'm so proud of you man)
🙏🙏
Looks Great. Nice job!
very impressive. very inspiring. thanks for sharing.
Dope!
Very interesting. Roger that.
This was awesome!
Great shots and idea 👏 I work for an action short film actually and it isn’t easy with no budget 🙈
Your use of a volume wall is executed well here and in a very minimal nature, which makes the production very effective in telling an isolated story. I’m noticing a jib being operated at the beginning of this video - I actually own the same one! it’s a very sturdy piece of equipment.
This looks amazing!
Really cool man, congrats!
THIS IS SO RAD!!! I'm inspired!!
Thank you for the bts
OH...Congratulations!
Looks superb! Congratulations.
when he says 'low budget' every time I got shot my heart .
It’s low I swear.
Classic apple boxes for dolly shots !!
Looking great keep it up!
This looks great Spencer! Are you coloring this? Would love a breakdown on the color if you are!
Really cool stuff!
Congractulations.
Great video!
Sick
Wow! Amazing breakdown Spenser. How was the spill from the blue screen in post?
You are amazing buddy 🎉
looks good only thing i noticed is a lack of wide shots but i understand with the set
You should make a stormtrooper imperial perspective in a battle in the trenches using the same techniques you did for this film!
Stunning and Cinematic, what is the title, where can i watch this film, will it be available on UA-cam?
Awesome !!!!!!!
Dude this looks better than that film with that guy who shot for YOU using Venice.
Good on you.😊
Add a capacitor to the driver output of the wall LEDs. Should kill the flicker. Unless the the problem is actual data refreshing on the screen. if that's the case, not much I know that can help.
Great looking stuff. I'm curious as to why there is a TC1 timecode box going into the slate when the slate itself has the same clock and syncs to the app
I would love to take place in an acting feature film of yours!
Imagine if all the war world pictures we have where taken in a garage with great lighting 😂
Awesome, Spencer! Is this stage a permanent installation, and if so, where is it? How do we get in touch with them?
The trenches could be available! I’ll get you an email

the only critique is that it just looks to clean and modern for a war film. But thats all modern films with their over resolutioned looks. super smart way to make a war film.
It’s a creative choice. There is no right way to do it.
Nice to see such in depth BTS. Bit of an off type question, but where can I find that sunhood you used for your SmallHD 702, as the original one basically broke after a few shoots.
Also seeing this mini volume & using Antilency set up, does the director of this have more in depth about this set up?
Thanks heaps :)
We bongo’d on a dji high bright monitor hood 😅
Looks amazing. How was the focus pro working for you?
Love Budget? you have a make shift volume haha What was your budget my guy? Also did you make the LED wall?
I need to know budget. looks outstanding.
Woah. How did you use a laptop for and LED Virtual production? Did you really use that? Or a desktop. Can i have more info on the PCs that were used here.
Question: when you use the focal reducer with a full frame lens, is the circle of confusion the same characteristic as without the focal reducer (while keeping the same aperture of course)❓
Yeah basically. In practice it feels like you’re 1 stop closed down compared to full frame. Nothing to fret at all.
Are you using in-camera LUTs in the komodo? Your monitor looked pretty moody, was that just from lighting and lensing or a custom LUT in camera?
custom LUT always. treat it like a film stock
Do you have a 'clear scan' option for shutter speed?
it's really good, the only thing I can say as a viewer is that the soldiers uniform and body is a little to clean, if they're set up in a trench there should be build up smudge or mud on their body, some of the soldiers uniform is too clean, something like 16:13 there white clothes are too unnatural, also some inconsistencies with the helmets some of them are a little too shiny. But shots like 16:38 are goated, also scenes like 18:34 the actors are like too tall or the trench is not deep enough. Also again their uniforms are too clean. The saturation between the green uniform and the trenches is affecting the shot its too distinct or I don't know I'm not a professional . Still overall it is good and excited for your career. And note the things that I said about can be fix in aftereffects
also I think one of the missing things, is sweat
