So, finding natural greens isn't as difficult as I thought. Many thanks.
I see trees of green with a pallet of blue
I see colours mixed for me and for you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Anthony B haha 😆 underrated comment 👏
I can really see how much more interesting these trees are.
this gentlemen has provided me with more information on techniques and supplies than any other water color painter on UA-cam. As a total beginner, I really appreciate him. God Bless..
Makes perfect water colour sense! Explore, experiment and enjoy this magical medium….
Still picking up the pearls you left in 2014! Thank you!
This has been such a helpful video! I kept searching for a better green for my palette but realize what I need is a better yellow 😂
He is a phenomenal teacher
Huge difference between mixed greens versus tube greens…much more vibrant
I keep watching this video because I like it so much and I find it so helpful! Thanks!
In addition to color variations, this video taught me a lot about painting trees.
I know Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a method to log back into an instagram account?

True. No fun in just using premixed colors. I am sure we all just started mixing our owns at some point, even mixing premixed primary colors. Nice video. Playfull and easy to watch while having dinner

Wow, never thought of this at all, thanks!
This is so great! I have to remind myself not to be afraid of adding "odd" colors and mixing on the paper, this inspires me to experiment more. Thank you!

Always had a problem with green. This video was very helpful. Thanks!
Hi. Thanks for this great input. I see a big difference in my landscapes with trees and foliage. 👍
Thank you so much for your advice 🙏🏻
Wow I like that! That is awesome!! Thank you very much.😊😘
Thanks! I always learn more from your watercolor painting videos than from anyone else's! Hope you and your family are having a great 2019!
Brilliant!
Your approach gives life to your paintings. Far more interesting. All the years I've spent in classes and you share advice that draws the viewer into your beautiful work. Thanks!
I so enjoy your videos! You make me a better painter
- So much fun watching fellow artists mix their favorite greens! My "go to" mix is definitely New Gamboge + Neutral Tint in various values + Paynes Grey for the real dark shadows!
John Constable, the greatest English landscape painter, achieved his naturalistic tree greens by using a mixture of lamp black (carbon black) with lemon yellow. This became known as "Constable Green". Rowland Hilder also used it to great effect.
I have used this mix to great effect in depicting deciduous woodland scenes of true veracity. As you mention your video, the addition of other yellows (I use cadmium yellow, medium and deep, and Naples yellow), greys (Payne's grey and neutral tint), and blues (ultramarine, Prussian blue and indigo), to add variation.
Sap green and olive green also feature in my palette but I invariably add highlights of the other colours to give extra interest.
Thanks! Great input!
Thanks for the tip, this sounds very interesting, I'm going to try that...! (4 years later...lol)
Very useful information. I've been struggling with trees. This'll probably do the trick!
Thank you thank you for de-mystifying painting foliage and trees for me. I have been stuck with trying to paint evergreens especially because I want to paint them as part of a wilder greenery setting. As a beginner watercolor painter, I am so grateful for your channel. Keep up the amazing work.
Thanks! I'll give it a try.
Very cool Im off to try thank you !
Really helpful!! Thanks!!
Another day of learning with THE BEST CHANNEL ON UA-cam !!!
You are the best, man !
I looove you ! hehehe.
Greets from Brazil. Thank you very very much !!!
Looked back at an old landscape painting today and it was completely saturated with sap green and a litte umber and ultramarine in the shadows. Took a while but I eventually learned how to use more colors to make other greens and it completely transformed the scenes and feelings of my paintings!
Also, Thank you! I love your tutorials and your humor and Reese and especially the scripture verses!
Very helpful, I appreciate all of your work
Im a watercolor newbie, and I'm binge watching all your videos. Very informative and inspiring. :)
Excellent tutorial! That is one of my problems. I love greens but didn't know how much I didn't understand them. Thank you so much! You are right. We need to get to know our paints and how they work together.
Things we knew, yet didn’t at the same time. *This really helped.* Even that range of blue on the left and yellow on the right - wow, mind blown, and that is such a rookie thing I should have known. I need a dish sized mixing palette vs. a little plastic space. Then, I would have learned that on my own. To dip into various shades along that line is the opposite of me trying to mix enough green, run out, try to mix the same green. I’m what happens when you have no lessons but you’re teaching me more and at my pace!! Thank you!
Love your demonstration! Thanks for posting these videos. You're awesome!
+Meghan Chin Thanks!
This is one of my favorite videos. Thanks for the tips!
+LettieNugent.com Awesome! Thanks.

I really like how detailed you described this... TY!
+Sherree “sherreefotos” Faries 👍
This was REALLY helpful! I find the green struggle a challenge. I’m going to try the palette you suggested, instead of trying to modify my convenience greens.
Thank you Steve, that's the cleaner I've always used. I keep picking up the Aches sheets too and she had some DaVinci paint for $3-5 a large tube. I so grateful to have had this opportunity to get good equiptment, and also for your valuable advise!
wonderful! thanks for making it look easy!

Great tip and fun too! I've been playing with some of the Daniel Smith greens that granulate like crazy and they are pretty neato if I do this maybe I will learn not to hate green. Always the problem solver on this channel! Thanks!
Thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial...thank you.
