Yay! I just logged on after a slight hiatus from brush to paper, and the subscriber total is 160, 000 as of July 2024! Yay Michelle! I learned so much from you since starting back in those days of Covid.
Congratulations 🎉 on your ever growing channel. I came in somewhere around 30K. I’m so glad you have continued to share through UA-cam. I learn from you every time I watch or rewatch and enjoy the way you present your invaluable information to us. Thank you Michelle.
I’ve recently retired and have been looking for a watercolour class that starts with the basics. I’m dead chuffed to find the class and plan to begin the lessons tomorrow! Thank you, Michele!
These were all good reminders of things I should have remembered!!! 😅 Always enjoy your teaching... hooray to 150k subscribers... let's see it happen!!! A California Gramma ❤
I have been at this for decades and learned so much more since the lockdown. I was certain I would know everything you would teach. Turns out I can use every tip. Lol. Every. Single. One. 😂 Excellent video thank you 😊
You are a perfect teacher. I have learnt a lot by watching your videos. Thank you Michelle ❤ please continue to make such wonderful videos. You are helping so many of us beginners.
This was great! More videos where you solve common mistakes with visual demonstration! You are such a skilled teacher and artist. Thanks for taking the time to contribute these to the artists community
I am watching your videos from germany and am very delighted by them. Your sessions are such a gain for me. Many thanks for now. Your a wonderful teacher.😊
All your tutorials are wonderfully valuable, but mainly I just want to say that I love “visiting” with you in your videos. You start my day with a smile. I love your attitude. Thank you for your giving spirit.
Morning Michele x My last 2 paintings I have stretched, as u have taught us...there was no cockling-buckling at all and made it so much easier to paint and get a flat even result every time. Thank u so much for all your tips....I had worked out most of these mistakes myself but I wouldn't have been able to explain to anyone how I did it correctly. Enjoy your day, its a chilly one here in Stowmarket today and probably with u as u r not far away from me x Hi and cuddles to Gimlet, I think thats how u spell your kittykats name x love Alli and Bella XXXX
Hi Alli and Bella, yes I notice how cold it was, I'm becoming a big fan of hats lately! Glad the paper stretching worked for you, Gimlet says hi back! X
Long time viewer, but I try never to miss a video of yours. Always grateful for your generous gift of your time, and talent for teaching. I am hoping you might have time to teach us how to paint falling water; particularly as from a fountain. Thanks so much, and bless you on the success and growth of your channel! ❤💐♥️
Thankyou for your channel. I've watched you for some years now and always get something from you. I hope you get to your goal of 150,000 subscribers soon. Good luck. Susan.
Your videos are so helpful and gives us the confidence to grow as artists…even people like me who can’t draw or paint but I just enjoy what I do. 😅😅 this video was so so helpful as I couldn’t understand why I was struggling now I know how to control my painting.👏🏼👏🏼❤️💕🐶🇬🇧🇬🇧
Some great tips, Michele. I learned so much from your courses recently, including using deeper dishes, but the tip that really made a massive difference early on in my journey was to stretch my paper. I'm hoping to do another course soon, they are such fun to do. Thank you 😊
Yes, I’ve made all of those mistakes 😂 and as a varifocal wearer myself can often be seen at the art class I attend with my specs perched on my head and my face two inches from my paper. Ah! The joys of ageing and short sightedness 😁
My two cats are also watching with me now, and indeed they too approve. Avery in particular has been working on learning watercolour as she watches me paint.
Off topic: love your lip color!!!! On topic: I'd like to see tutorials on how to achieve translucence in various skin tones, plus how to achieve believable shadows on the face, on various skin tones. Thank you!
Yes it does, to an extent, some people are naturally more precise than others in all respects I think. I'm a neat freak which isn't always a good thing 😅
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber I‘m fairly neat but, find your triangle shapes between e.g. petal’s astonishingly precise! Although the brush isn’t slim!
Love this video! Just wonderiing about the first part. Once you're done painting with that very large amount of mixed color, what do you do with the large amount left over.? I do not have room to store those very large coontaner- each with a different color.
Have you done a video on layering? I have a problem, for instance, on a flower when you want to have layers light to dark. I've been told to let the layers dry in between, but then I'm getting the hard edge I don't want. If you've done a video on this, if you could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
I have a video on Glazing, I can't put links here but the search video will find it for you. Some of the step by step playlist videos may help too. Yes you should let the layers dry, but the trick is to wet the whole area/petal. If you only put the second layer on part then you get a hard edge. So if for example you wanted to put a second colour on half of a large petal you wet the whole petal with clean water, then only put the colour on half.
I'm curious, I recently had the misfortune of buying Canson XL paper and discovering blooms and blotches and backwashes like I have never seen!😮 Is there a trick to working on paper that isn't cotton? So then I bought Baohung artists grade, fine paper 100 percent cotton, it works better but it's very rough and thirsty, I put water 💦 and water 💦 I've never seen anything like this, any suggestions for that also? 😂 The Arches paper is over a hundred for like 15 sheets, so I'm looking for something I can afford, I've already gone smaller and smaller which feels constricting, at this rate I'll soon be painting on a postage stamp.😂 I prefer 16 by 20 or 11 by 14, now I'm down to 5 by 7.
I find Arches takes too much water for my liking. I have a background of demonstrating for manufacturers and often use woodpulp paper on youtube. Two things will make cheap paper easier to use. 1. Stretch it. 2. Don't scrub things out or use too many layers, it generally behaves if you don't 'work' it too much. My favourite papers are Saunders Waterford and Fabriano Artistico. In the UK it's cheaper to buy full sheets and cut it down, rather than a pad, but I'm told it's not the case in all countries.
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber thank you I'll experiment with the Canson XL I banished to the back of the closet! If not I'll try markers and maybe ink 🤔

@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber you’re so right!
Great tips. I've been struggling with these issues.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you- that was very helpful!
You could try, it may not adhere as cleanly is the only problem. You might need something to 'stick' it, like a little gum arabic.
Thanks Michele 👍🏾😊
No problem 😊
