The 40k episode was centered around the concept of fear and how it shapes us. We experience that through the eyes of Metaurus, a Bladeguard Sergeant of the Ultramarines. When selecting for new recruits, he came upon a unique child, a child filled with pain and rage, a child without fear (Titus). While he loved Titus as a mentor might, he came to be afraid over Titus' potential should he fall to the corruption of Chaos. What would he become? What could that child he trained be capable of? Eventually, we see the Sorcerer appear and effortlessly dispatch each marine by entering their minds and embodying their fear, literally using their fears and doubts to kill them. The first marine fears that he could falter from some internal weakness, so his armor rips him out of itself and crushes him. Metaurus fears that Titus' nature will lead him to betraying him and his brothers, so the Sorcerer manifests as a corrupted Titus and stabs him. Then, the Sorcerer enters the mind of Titus but he appears in his form because there is no fear to inhabit and Titus breaks his staff which shatters it in the real world and stops the time freeze spell. The end is Titus refusing to allow his mentor and brother to die and dragging him out of the cave before the orbital bombardment hits to destroy the Chaos relic. Metaurus, likely dying from his wounds, remarks to Titus that they fulfilled their duty in completing the mission and that it is time for Titus to leave him to which Titus responds "not yet, old man." Metaurus then looks on in pride at Titus, the child without fear, and sees his true potential: a loyal soldier whose lack of fear provides a resolve against corruption and a steadfast loyalty to his brothers in the face of overwhelming odds.
Have you guys seen Astartes? It was a fan-made project about Warhammer 40K and was completely awesome. They brought in the guy that made that (by himself) and joined the team here that made the 40k episode. His style shows through.
@kevincamp2913 emphasis on "typically". GW love to leave things like this deliberately vague and give themselves loads of loopholes to cover writing errors and inconsistencies 😂
Armored Core 6 is an incredible game and the perfect jumping on point for gamers interested in the series. It tells a very compelling and surprisingly emotional self-contained story. It has a very polished and well paced single player campaign that continues adding substantial new content (narrative, missions, parts) all the way through the New Game Plus 2. And the gamefeel is honestly just next level, there’s enough depth for a high skill ceiling but at the same time new pilots will feel like total badasses within an hour of starting the game.
41:50 Very good spot, well done. Yes, they do all have Roman/Grecian sounding names because the Ultramarines hail from the realm of Ultramar and Maccrage. Their Legion (now Chapter) comes from a world which was styled on the Roman Empire, hence the laurels etc. The massive statue he was praying to is their Primarch/Genefather, Roboute Guilliman. 13th Son of the Emperor, lord of the 13th Legion (Ultramarines) and current Imperial Regent.
That D&D group trying to fend off Tiamat...the evil dragon goddess...good luck chief. I mean, unless you grab Bahamut. Otherwise I wish y'all the best o7
It sound like a spirit version of her that just born from the gold dragon, hence why the cult was after it to deliver it to tiamat I imagine the real size of her wouldn't fit in that dungeon
For someone not versed in the lore I think she was very observant on Warhammer. There are many space marine chapters. Ultramarines, the blue guys, are kinda space romans. Warhammer is also a mix between ancient earthly religion/demonology lore mixed with future tech. Imagine a world where space travel has opened up the gates to hell.
7:11 Just in case you don't know, that is Tiamat, the 5-head dragon goddess who rules over evil dragons. She has one head for each of the "chromatic dragons" (red, blue, green, black, and white).
I love you guys. I been trying to watch Secret level reactions but non of my favourite reactors have watched it yet, until now. A whole hour of content is crazy
35:28 long time viewer here, really happy you guys saw episode 5. was fun seeing you two introduced to the warhammer showcase, the story/lore behind it is extremely top notch
As someone who spent a lot of my leisure time in arcades in the 80s, when I first saw there was a Pac-Man episode, like Christian I thought it would be fun. Then when I saw the futuristic setting, I thought, this is very different from my nostalgia but it looks interes-whoa, my God!!
The D&D episode to explain they were sacrificing a priest...aka why they said we have our cleric. Tiamat is the Queen of Darkness and a greater goddess her polar opposite is Bahamut - the Platinum Dragon. So the priest being able to shield from all her weapons to me symbolizes he was a Cleric of Bahamut. Yes, I loved seeing finally seeing metallics - good and chromatics - evil.
47:42 technically, this episode is actually based on the game Shadow Labyrinth, which is a spin-off in the Pac-Man franchise, not the Pac-Man game we're used to playing. The game trailer was released after the episode aired.

Really enjoyed a lot of these. I want a full series with most of these now, and looking forward to Henry Cavil's live action Warhammer. Also Xan: "I am the Alpha and the Omega. Witness my perfection."
So before the flood of 40k fans overwhelms you with comments, let me say you guys pretty much got the vibe of Warhammer 40k (Not Warhammer Fantasy). Its a terrible universe that no sane person wants to live in. The 40k franchise has been around for 30+ years, and mostly been developed through books. As of right now, there are roughly over 400 published books as part of the 40k universe. It is very overwhelming to get into, so don't feel like you need to rush into things. Based on your channel content I doubt doing a full lore dive series would be part of your plans, and you can probably just wait for Cavill's show. If you do want to get into the 40k lore, there are 2 suggestions you will hear from the majority of fans. Bricky and his 40k faction videos: Not 100% accurate, but very digestible and easy to watch as a newcomer. You get the entry-level knowledge without getting bogged down. Luetin09 and his massive collection of 40k lore videos: This is basically the University professor of 40k lore youtubers, and a well-respected veteran of the 40k community. His videos are a little dry and long, but very informative. Either way, the Space Marine episode was very cool and us Warhammer 40k fans are very excited to see new people enjoying our favorite grimdark universe.
If you watched the game awards 2024 show, the Pac-man episode is basically an ad for a new pac-man game exactly like that called Shadow Labyrinth. They're gonna release that game for real
Once you learn that the pac man episode was them trying to advertise their new game shadow labyrinth which is Pac-Man vania it makes so much sense but the game also looks pretty cool.
The final monster is scary to anyone with fear of something. That's how they each died, or in the case of the guy who recruited Titus, he was stabbed to show his fear of betrayal from Titus. Titus wasn't phased because he had no fear so nothing could've been done to him
warhammer started as D&D but with figures and army strategy, then other versions came out and this is one of the most popular that combines the space novel with the game itself.
With Pac-Man all the monsters are the wafers. Those monsters with the gems are the ghost. You are the player as well as the power pellet. There's no escape from The labyrinth, only endless repetition.
To be fair Unreal Tournament never has an explicit storyline. But If you pay attention to the little nods in the map descriptions, there is one. And the story of Xan and the robot uprising is a very interesting one. They don't throw the story in your face. They expected gamers at the time to come for the action and stay for the gibs. But it is there if you look for it. P.S. The first two Unreal games had a story. That was way before it became an arena shooter.
1. Warhammer 40k 2. Armored Core 3. D&D if I had to pick. They were all pretty good though. Yeah, Pac-Man was an unexpected take. The Warhammer one though resonates very loud with me at the moment though because I've been messing around with it's vast and extensive lore. It's got a bit of everything. Orks, Elves, Demons, Aliens, Tech, Essentially Living metal Zombies, Space travel. Some of the races have crazy long life spans. So far everything I've seen is just nuts.
The things on the Warhammer characters foreheads are Service Studs which denote time/length of service one of the characters Titus has 4 gold studs which means 400 years of service.
Tiamat is a five headed chromatic (Black, Blue, Green, Red, and White) dragon god of greed and evil dragons. The Gold dragon is considered a metallic (Gold, Silver, Bronze, ect.) and typically follow Bahamut a deity of good dragons who is Tiamat's brother and rival.
Crossfire is a multiplayer FPS. Like almost all FPS games, whatever side you’re playing as in the moment is “not the bad guys” in the mind of the player.
Warhammer 40k is a sprawling series nearly as old as Star Wars that all originated from a tabletop game much like a sort of futuristic RISK. Over the decades, it has evolved vastly, but always retained it's ancient, yet futuristic depiction of the far future. There's hundreds of books to be read (anything by Aaron Dembski-Bowden takes top-tier over all) and dozens of amazing cinematics to watch, and hundreds more lore videos if you find yourself hooked, but otherwise unwilling to dive into the books or other shows on Warhammer+. I just got into it a few months back, I'd recommend listening to a few general Lore/Timeline videos, then just choose where you wanna start off. Once you get the basics, you can't really go wrong, and will only learn more the more you end up reading. Entire factions and subfactions can revealed at a whim, but so long as you understand the basics of the universe, you won't really get lost :)
Nice reaction, love the commentary. I would say for a few of them, Warhammer if you want a good intro the youtuber Bricky has some good introductions to the world and Astartes is another good short if you want more of the Warhammer episode. I think my least favorite was Crossfire felt kinda generic compared to the other crazy worlds. My personal favorite was Xan from unreal tournament. Lots of nostalgia from the old games, Xan was like the big bad boss in the games for a relatively simple game of fast paced arena shooters so its cool they fleshed outside lore from the game into a great narrative piece. Glad you guys enjoyed it and look forward to you watching more!
This is my list: SIFU WARHAMMER UNREAL TOURNAMENT D&D NEW WORLD PAC-MAN ARMORED CORE CROSSFIRE IMO....the last 2 were very generic like you said and had no point to it. Haven't played those games ofcourse, yet they felt incomplete and like were going nowhere with their respective plots. But, so far this series has been really good!

Nice you have never heard of Unreal Tournament. It was one of the first Multiplayer Experiences (via Modem) 25 years back. Its iconic up to this day, soundtrack, and even the weapons, as you have seen. The bots there were played by the ai (who was really bad, bad actually good for the day=
32:26 it wasn't malfunctioning, it was just rebooting and the guy wasn't patient enough to let that process take the time it needed. Imagine our response if we'd been sleeping and woke up to someone beating the stew out of us.
You should do a reaction video of what is warhammer 40k and every faction in warhammer 40k by bricky. Brutal universe but so cool... The Emperor Protects
Speaking of PAC-MAN 😎 If you liked that episode, you need to check out the trailer for "Shadow Labyrinth" which is basically the inspiration for the Pacman episode for Secret Level. Looks like its going to have some interesting story/lore. Lesson of the story. "There's strength in repetition..."
For Warhammer 40k, I would recommend your next step should be the recent Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II, for which the 40k short here is a direct tie-in. It's very big on vibes, rather than on giving you lots of exposition, so it's easy to pick up the feel of 40k, and I'd recommend that kind of attitude when exploring 40k - there's a lot of lore, which can feel like a chore to engage with unless you're already invested.
given cavill's a w40k fanboy and this armored core short with keanu, those two gamer actors should star in a videogame together. geralt of rivia v johnny silverhand. 😄
If you want to learn more about Warhammer 40k i highly recommend bricky videos "What is Warhammer 40k timeline of 40k lore" and the two part video "Every single Warhammer 40k faction explained"
You guys for having 0 knowledge of armored core pretty much nailed it with your analysis and i highly highly recommend armored core, armored core 6 is a great place to start and is in the same timeline as this episode
It's been confirmed that Cavil is going to produce a Series for Amazon set in the 40,000 universe. if you want to know more about the universe & lore I highly recommend Bricky Every 40k faction explained Parts 1&2, it's a very good intro to the universe. May the Emperor protect.
Considering how little background knowledge you have about warhammer, you guys picked up on a lot of the context really well. The whole setting is essentially a new dark age that happens after humans have gained the technology to become a galaxy spanning empire. Thats why there is a real medieval feel to it. And for your reference, those enemies were all humans. The ones in the pit have been mutated by the psychic powers given to them by the chaos god they worship. But they were all once humans. Daemons of the chaos gods do exist in this universe though and are far scarier.
I'm looking forward for part 2 that was coming out today ,but I don't think there wil be a GOW episode ,eventhough the teaser showed a shot of kratos ,considering same amazon prime are already started to make a live-action adaption with santa monica.
This Show makes me wish for morewarhammer. show us more of the factions. show chaos win. also sht now I kinda want an animation about Dark Souls or Sekiro in that Quality

Warhammer 40k is so confusing to people who are new to it! I know I was when I first found out about it! Warhammer 40k has a lot of irony and interesting contrasts. And yeah, no Warhammer 40k fan wants to live in Warhammer 40k. Its a horrible universe

The studs nailed into the Space Marines head in Warhammer are for centuries of service. Four studs is for 400 years of service.
It depends on the chapter and material used. In this case, though, it represents 200 years. We know this because of space marine 2.
It depends on the material/color. Silver typically represents 50 years of service and gold is 100 years.

"They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them and in the furnace of war I shall forge them. They shall be of iron will and steely sinew. In great armour I shall clad them and with the mightiest weapons shall they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight them. They shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best them in battle. They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines...and they shall know no fear."
- The Emperor of Mankind
Nice you have never heard of Unreal Tournament. It was one of the first Multiplayer Experiences (via Modem) 25 years back. Its iconic up to this day, soundtrack, and even the weapons, as you have seen. The bots there were played by the ai (who was really bad, bad actually good for the day=
40k one was the best one. just awesome.
Renaunce the Corpse-Emperor. Join the true gods
"I think there's comics and books"
Aye there are, there's 350+ novels, 50 of those are just the prequal.
We all here for 40k i promise
The new world episode that is arnold from terminator and predator
Speaking of PAC-MAN 😎 If you liked that episode, you need to check out the trailer for "Shadow Labyrinth" which is basically the inspiration for the Pacman episode for Secret Level. Looks like its going to have some interesting story/lore.
Lesson of the story. "There's strength in repetition..."
I wonder how many noticed that his sword in ep 3 was the one from Conan. Another cameo after Stranger Things.
People talk a lot about WH40K and for good reason, but I also feel it removes visibility to others like Sifu. I too was holding the tears at the end.
cool reaction btw! hi from russia, guys
This series rocks
New to 40k? I suggest Bricky's lore videos, starting with Every Faction Explained.
57:13 their fighting caused alot of problems such as super powered zombies.
If you want to learn more about Warhammer 40k i highly recommend bricky videos "What is Warhammer 40k timeline of 40k lore" and the two part video "Every single Warhammer 40k faction explained"
Keanu looks dope in the last episode. It's like johnny silverhand with female V from cyberpunk 2077 ,but the other way around of who's in who.
Armored Core is a very dark series of games. Cybermech Distopian
You guys for having 0 knowledge of armored core pretty much nailed it with your analysis and i highly highly recommend armored core, armored core 6 is a great place to start and is in the same timeline as this episode
man that reminds me that I yet again need to restart AC 6
Astartes! For the Emperor!
FOR THE EMPEROR!!!
Courage and honour.
If you wanna know what stuff was in the 40k episode, Arbitor Ian just posted a nice lore breakdown.
We’re all the bad guys when it eases our provocatives and it’s catalyst for another’s
you guys should react to Warhammer 40K lore explained, it's a rabbit hole from there on. 40K refers to the 40th Mellinium

It's been confirmed that Cavil is going to produce a Series for Amazon set in the 40,000 universe.
if you want to know more about the universe & lore I highly recommend Bricky Every 40k faction explained Parts 1&2, it's a very good intro to the universe.
May the Emperor protect.
FUCK YEAH
Did they come to an agreement?
@@Good_Hot_Chocolate Yer, Cavil made an Instagram post the day Secret Level dropped.
@stevencavanagh7990 I'll check it out! That's the best news all year!
Just giving My Vote for Ya'll to Watch Astartes... I can already see alotta of my fellow warhammer fans out here spreading the good word.
This Show makes me wish for morewarhammer. show us more of the factions. show chaos win.
also sht now I kinda want an animation about Dark Souls or Sekiro in that Quality
If you want dive into warhammer i recommend "warhammer 40k all factions by bricky" and "TIMELINE of the 40K UNIVERSE by Trazyn the Infinite"
Pac-(Wo)man is the bad guy
EAT BLADE DEMON!!!
And new world is something you never heard of bc its a PC game made by Amazon
The Warhammer 40k episode is vanilla compared to other stuff that goes on in the setting and lore.

IMO....the last 2 were very generic and had no point to it. Haven't played those games of course, yet they felt incomplete and like were going nowhere with their respective plots. But, so far this series has been really good!
Warhammer 40k is so confusing to people who are new to it! I know I was when I first found out about it!
Warhammer 40k has a lot of irony and interesting contrasts. And yeah, no Warhammer 40k fan wants to live in Warhammer 40k. Its a horrible universe
The D&D was garbage 🗑
God bless tim miller and his company blur studios for this fantastic compilation and love death and robots
Madison, Christian. If you appreciated the Warhammer 40K episode I suggest you think about viewing the 13 minute "Astartes Project by Syama Pedersen - Original Version - Full Edit " ua-cam.com/video/O7hgjuFfn3A/v-deo.html
