Great series about the Onward 👍👍👏👏 It is really a special and experimental, but also very inspiring pedal. I'm so glad I actually got it, because of initial UA-cam videos I was not really excited. The sounds that you get out of Onward from 5:27 on are just phenomenal. I love it 🖤🖤
Fantastic series on the Onward! I'm consider purchasing it and these have honestly been the best videos (I've watched them all). I'm no stranger to complex pedals, but when watching pedal demos on the Onward it's hard to get a sense for how it will sound through my fingers. I need to hear just the bare bones stripped down version of what everything does (mix on full, thank you), and a concise simplified explanation. Then in my minds eye I can reconstruct how I think I will be able to use it, and if it will add anything to my current setup. How you went through everything methodically really allowed me to do that. Finally your examples in this wrapped it up nicely. Great Job!
There are a small handful of settings on the Onward that are good for live settings or even in a house of worship for ambience. I use it just for that a lot. But it's also just a great pedal to sit down with and get ideas from. It's like a little song writing companion that is spit-balling ideas at you constantly. I've come up with some great lead lines and musical breaks by playing around with this thing. It's worth the price, IMHO.
Great, love to see how you use the thing to make music other than to make sounds. The sounds are gorgeous always with their pedals, but then I ask myself if I want to spend $400 to sit and amaze myself on the couch by playing arpeggios. I mean, there are worse things to do! I actually made my family come and listen to some of the things this pedal can do, as played by yourself and others in their videos. But I am just an average amateur guitarist so this would be like a real special treat, until I get to the point that I start writing and recording, which frankly is years away. But gosh when I get there, my problem will be WHICH Chase Bliss pedal do I want to enjoy. -- Thanks for the videos!
I like your perspective on the Onward. I agree that it's an experimental pedal and maybe one for the studio more than live. I personally would choose something like the Mood MkII or Habit over this pedal, but that's not to say the Onward doesn't have some really good uses too, just not for the type of music I make. Thanks for your deep dive!
I'm in total agreement with you. This pedal still somewhat bewilders me. I feel like I'll need more time with it on my board to figure out what I really want to do with it. Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for watching the video!
Hi Aaron, I really appreciate the work you do and since through your fault (I'm joking of course :) I just purchased Onward I wanted to ask you for advice. By owning the Habit and Mood MKII, you know what the best chain sequence is in your opinion. I had thought: 1. Habit 2. Onwards 3. Mood MKII What do you think?
Hello! Sorry it took em a bit to respond, but I've actually had a hard time answering this. If you asked me today, I'd go Habit>Mood>Onward. I'd put Habit first so you can feed the scanned audio into the other two pedals at intervals, and I'd personally want the Onward to effect both the Habit and the Mood. However, I could also see going Mood>Habit>Onward- the frozen Mood audio would be an excellent effect for the Habit to capture. I also think any combination of these three pedals would yield some very cool results. I was trying not to be wishy-washy with my answer, and I'm not sure I avoided being that way :) Thanks for watching!!!
This sounds like what I wanted the Particle 2 to do. I have the MOOD 2, and I think this is very different from that. Thanks!
Thank you for watching!

Oh yes, it's a wonderful songwriting tool, it's such a creative pedal. Thanks for watching!
You got some very cool sounds from the Onward in this video. Sounded great to my ears!
Thank you so much, and thank you for watching!

Thank you so much for saying that, and thanks for watching! I hope these pedals inspire you to write and record new music soon :)

@@AaronRusch Thank you very much for your reply!
And you give me reasons to think...
