Great side by side comparison, thank you! I was conflicted on which one of these to buy, but feel really happy with my Mood, and I agree, it’s beautiful inside and out. The things the Mood does…it’s almost hard to fathom that something like it was even built! Just did a video using the Mood and the Roland J6, really fun sounds and amazing to “experiment and tweak in real time with” from a performance POV. That being said, now you’re making me want to buy Onward as well!😂 The purchases are neverending!
I amean, im already at the stage in my guitar playing life where every pedal on my board except tuner and amp sim are Chase Bliss. Including both the preamp mk2 and yhe cxm 1978. I dont need anymore CB stuff....... Do i?
Mood is definitely prettier (inside and out), Onward is glitchier. I'd say Habit deserves a spot here, too. Doesn't get much cooler in terms of weirdness than CBA's recent work.
@DannyCruzCreations I’m of the opinion that MOOD is weirder than Habit. With Habit you can start out simple and dial in weirdness to taste as you get more comfortable. I sorta cover that in this video here: ua-cam.com/video/SUcOFbJQhgc/v-deo.htmlsi=eUa7ad2b-K5ht6UM
Hard choice! While there is some overlap, neither can cover the other completely. In the end I kept the MOOD over the Onward because it fits my of what I’m wanting in that space. What are you looking to accomplish with one of these?
Sometimes a quick test run is all you need! Or sometimes you need to give it another test and see. Either way trust your gut. You get to decide what brings you joy :)
Great demo! I just received my onward today and first thing I did was plugged it into the mood mkii tons of fun and think theres enough difference to justify keeping both around
Interesting..I'm on the fence about the Onward still..it seems to me it has a lot of similarities to the Mood 2, just more variation in terms of glitch and techniques.. Especially the Envelope options.. whereas the Moods Looper side is not as variable as Onwards but you have the wet side , especially the Reverb which is glorious..It doesn't help that the Source Audio Artifakt is a beast of a lo fi pedal which I'm short of on my pedalboard..
It’s a dilemma for sure! MOODs reverb is awesome, and it can get gritty and lo-fi, just different than Onward. I’m not sure if Onward would satiate your desire for lo-fi. It’s very nice mind you, but lo-fi enough to cover that? Not sure…but MOOD also doesn’t meet my needs there. 🤔 …maybe an Artifakt is in my future 😎
@@patrickr6505 think you might get more mileage from the artifakt, the app heavy approach to SA pedals is something I struggled with, never wanted to plug it into my phone or computer and never felt like dedicating time to making presets, felt I was always underutilizing them, just a personal preference thing really, no denying that their pedals are unrivaled as far as versatility and what they can do. I’ve only scratched the surface of the onward so it’s a bit early to make any serious judgments but if you think the artifakt will scratch a bigger itch I’d definitely consider that route first
@@thepedalcollaborative Yes of course! I sold my Chroma and bought an H90. I prefer H90. Surprised by sticky tape & cassette algos but I miss the Chroma's collage algorithm.
Great presentation. I have a Mood Mk2 and an Onward on the way, so I'm excited to see how they play together. I guess you didn't play the Mood into the Onward until the very end, but I think I would have swapped the pedal order. The red-bearded guy from Chase Bliss said during that Q&A video that it should probably go early on in the chain, for the "best possible envelope tracking." It still sounded super good after the Mood either way.
You know, I’ve tried it both ways and I’m ok saying I didn’t like the MOOD after the Onward as much. Maybe with some different knob configurations I would. It felt too muddy to me with Onward first. 🤷🏻
@@thepedalcollaborative I could see how that could happen, because I also like having the Mood pretty early in my signal chain. I'll have to play around with it when mine comes in the mail.
@bw5260 totally! And granted, having a bigger signal chain calls for different thought process on placement. I will say Onward into LVX is a great combo!
@PTguitars for sure! And to be fair, when I put the Onward first in the chain, I didn’t adjust the sensitivity, so perhaps that would change how I feel. Either way the Onward is a rad pedal and if you’re thinking about it, I say go for it!
@@thepedalcollaborative I have too many pedals already - but I feel something about the Onward - like I can already hear how I will use it. I am probably placing my order asap.
@@thepedalcollaborative Oh, hard to say what to do next. Maybe explore the two (?) presets with which the CB pedals ship, or else the presets that you’ve saved (if any)? I don’t know that I’ve seen anyone demo the factory presets.
@@thepedalcollaborative I’ve also wondered what it would sound like to (carefully) feed Onward back into itself, since it doesn’t exactly have a built-in feedback or layers setting (which is kind of the whole point of Onward, I guess? I wasn’t expecting it to honestly. I was expecting them to compliment each other, which they do, but even when making this video I wasn’t 100% sure they’d dial up so closely. It’s great if you have a MOOD and like the glitchy Slip side but also want the delay or reverb from it.
