    My biggest mistake was going out in by back yard to practice chords and strumming. Within seconds, my two resident catbirds were sitting above my head singing, then some finches chimed in and some other birds I didn't know. Not sure if they were laughing, singing or telling me to shut up?

    To keep strumming and let the left hand catch up is great advice. I find myself being to careful to not make a mistake. It causes me to pause a lot.

    Hi Katie I'm Shaun, I'm new to your channel and to playing the Ukulele. I started learning to play it from 9th June 2020, that's how new to it I am. I found this video very helpful because I've found that there have been a few occasions (although not every time) that I've been changing chords and just like you explained I've found myself having stopped strumming (well finger picking actually.) I'm in the process of learning "Hallelujah." I'm finding the finger picking a wonderful challenge as well as at the same time a more beautiful sound than that of a standard strum, at least at the moment I am. What I also found interesting in your video is how you suggest learning just 2 chords, then add a 3rd, then a 4th and so on. Now that cord advise along with the strumming advise I'm taking on board and I'm finding it very helpful, so thank you for that.

    one of the most difficult things to do is to be consistent with our practice, I find that having a journal with everything I want to learn makes it easier for me, if I have everything on paper is easier to commit, and not waste time doing something else, great lesson Katie

    I have trouble holding my chording thumb properly. I end up with the neck of my uke in the area of my hand between the thumb and forefinger. I almost wish there was a block of some kind to keep my thumb in place.

    • @OneMusicSchool
      @OneMusicSchool  2 роки тому

      Hi, I’ve had some people in the past the past that have encountered that same issue. I have a video that I did about holding the uke where the forefinger of the chording hand is the resting point of the neck rather than just using pressure of your thumb and forefinger as a clamp because the neck falls in between chord transitions. Not saying the way that you learned was wrong, but try holding your ukulele the way I demo it in the video and see if that helps 😀.

      Actually, I already made that one months ago for the guitar and Ukulele. Just search This Is Me One Music School and you should find it. Also, I have a playlist on my UA-cam Channel labeled Musicals/Movies and it should be there. Let me know if you can't find it.

      If you haven't already, hit the bell so that you don't miss a video. I post at least 3 times a week, and UA-cam doesn't notify you unless you've hit the bell.
