You could just wait till your buddy stacked his and go buy what you needed off him. You know help a brother out. Big block small block 4-speed sway bars posi steel rims. Dollar per horsepower a better buy than anything else around. Heavy enough that you felt safe at a hundred and ten miles an hour. Strong enough that you could abuse the living shit out of it. My favorite was a gold 66 I had. It always had different engines and transmissions in it. It was like the Chevelle kit. You could put it together all sorts of different ways. Sliding left, sliding right, donut clockwise, counterclockwise figure 8, what a great greasy sled, Smokey toasty, banging gears and fucking with with the radio, just burning tire until you let up. No 12s without cheater slicks or wrinkle walls, Low 13's and that big block come on. The big block lunge. It’s such a cool ride. His cost was less because he’s a builder but said this is about the real cost for the guy that commissions a build like this with these parts and set up
I really love that model, I test drove a nice one owner teal blue 68 Chevelle in 1975 and wanted it bad! It was a SS 396/325, but it certainly had plenty of power. I can't imagine the same car with double the ponies! The only thing I didn't particularly care for were the bench seats. The muncie 4-speed stick curved drastically around the bench, but shifted very nicely. Like this one, it had manual brakes and steering, and it was absolutely brutal to steer and stop for a 17 year old! I had to stomp on the brakes with both feet which was sort of scary. I would definitely go with the power steering and disc brake upgrade, he did it all right on this build. I wouldn't change a thing, well worth the 100k he invested.
I want to know the tire size too they are definitely offset. It might be 245/60 up front 275/60 out back. Usually guys go with 275/60 on rear when they run 3.73 but he has 3.55 though.
AutotopiaLA thanks for the reply. 67 impala is featured in very famous TV series Supernatural. Cool car. I guess not many 67 4 dr impalas are on the road
Thanks. And I know guys that have built with friends too. I just love what the big dollars builders do with creating custom parts, fab work, etc. I’m just a hardcore fan of great cars. $5 or $5 million if it’s cool it’s 😎
Great looking car. If all the labor is sourced to do the build it would probably be 100k easily. If one does the build himself he could save substantial amounts of money. Labor is very expensive.
You Sir are, 100% correct about how much it costs to do these cars. I did a stock 1930 Model A Ford Coupe....that car stood me close to $18,000 and I did not pay for the finished body work or the paint , a very dear friend of mine did it for free in his shop. If I were to sell that car, I would be lucky if I could get $16,000 for it.
Excellent video & recording angles, thank you! Hearing the whine coming out of the 4-speed as your going down the road reminds me of the ‘55 Chevy in “Two Lane Blacktop”, that noise was very obvious in that car as well. Gotta love the old school combination of a 4-speed behind a carbureted Rat Motor! Good Day Everyone!
anybody thats ever had a car built knows the budget can get as high as the owners money can go, i wouldve guessed more than 100k for that build depending on what they started with
Umm... no, he’s not on this one. I’m questioning the horsepower and the cost to build it... BUT, most chevys in the late 60s had 4 wheel discs. I know the 69 Camaro does. I’d bet the 68 Camaro did too. My 68 mustang had discs brakes on the front, from the factory, with the GT package. You all do your homework before runnin yer flappers! Lol
David Oliver Wrong. Most late 60's chevelles had 4 wheel Drums. Standard. Front disc brakes & front only - were a option. No Chevelle ever came off the assembly line with rear disc's. Ever. Show me an rpo code. Show me a factory part #. This Chevelle may have rear disc's but through aftermarket parts only
Wrong, my 69 Cutlass is a high option big engine car and it has 4 wheel drums. Discs were only a front option. Camaro rear discs were an option bred from Trans Am racing and the Z/28.
Your face when you see the cops....kkkk. Bro, you are amazing man, i tell it forever. Show to us all this cars. This old school with this transmition....👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Make me remember when i drive a V8 car for the first time. Congratulations to the Chevelle owner and to you buddy. Thanks again.
"Plain" or "simple" is a style not a budget. It's probably still a complete nut and bolt frame off restoration and there goes your 100 grand. Sure you could build a car for a lot less that on the street or on camera looks pretty much just like it but see them up close in person and you'll see where the money went.

Absolutely love that car yes I’m old-school to. Love color best color for 68 Chevelle
Old School I see you
Dad hade a 68 Chevelle 327,but he was a transmission guy. Loved to hear it chirp. Hell,he made his huntning van chirp.
Friend built 69 chevelle. He is about 32 deep in it. Its 454 4spd. Ground up and some good friends helping. Ok. You got 1 more sub. Great vids.
Thanks. And I know guys that have built with friends too. I just love what the big dollars builders do with creating custom parts, fab work, etc. I’m just a hardcore fan of great cars. $5 or $5 million if it’s cool it’s 😎
First video,I like how straight up this guy is and his commentary flows very naturally.
Thanks Lenwood!! Appreciate the support and I promise there’s so much more to come from our channel.
I'm in love with this one!!
So is the owner and I fell for it immediately. That trans is so damn cool!
I had the 1968 SS396 Chevelle 4speed exactly like that one in high school, wish i never sold it. Now i looking for another one to build! Very cool car
Really cool car. Would love to have this one.
Nice Chevelle bro ☝
Absolute Greatness.. it's perfect.. Stance.. No More, No less..
Notice how it never hit a wall or another car or even some spectators during the burnouts? It's not a mustang...
Lol!!
So the mustang just plows into crowds in its own? Hmmm.
So the mustang drives on its own with nobody sitting in it and drives into crowds ok
Yea I thought the original autonomous human eating car was a Plymouth Fury. As a Mustang guy I'm about tired of hearing this crowd control crap.
TheCulnes Well shit every video I’ve watched on the tube that involves mustangs doing burnouts, shows a lot of wall action 😂🤷🏼♂️
love this car. thanks for showing us the car , defiantly worth 12:37 of my day
Great looking car.
If all the labor is sourced to do the build it would probably be 100k easily.
If one does the build himself he could save substantial amounts of money. Labor is very expensive.
One of the few people that seems to understand customs get expensive.
VH. What do you think, 1/3 for parts and 2/3 for labor?
You Sir are, 100% correct about how much it costs to do these cars. I did a stock 1930 Model A Ford Coupe....that car stood me close to $18,000 and I did not pay for the finished body work or the paint , a very dear friend of mine did it for free in his shop. If I were to sell that car, I would be lucky if I could get $16,000 for it.
You’re one of the few that seem to truly understand. It’s not about resale it’s about passion for driving something you love
That my favorite car old school with I'm so 69 Chevy
This is such a badass ride
Excellent video & recording angles, thank you! Hearing the whine coming out of the 4-speed as your going down the road reminds me of the ‘55 Chevy in “Two Lane Blacktop”, that noise was very obvious in that car as well. Gotta love the old school combination of a 4-speed behind a carbureted Rat Motor! Good Day Everyone!
Really good one hear and the sound of that trans and banging the gears is incredible!
I remember when he first got the car!
Really?? I love that he let me shoot it and drive it. Killer car!
I'd say this Chevelle is done extremely well. Nothing but 1st class OG flavor in this build.
Total OG cool
The noise!
Enjoyed going back and watching this. Clean and simple. I dig it.
Super simple old school Badass
My next project has to be a chevelle or 70 nova
My absolute dream car. 68-69 Chevelle.
They’re so cool and simply timeless
anybody thats ever had a car built knows the budget can get as high as the owners money can go, i wouldve guessed more than 100k for that build depending on what they started with
Dynasty 214 obviously you get it. Have probably gone through the process too. 6 months becomes 2 years and $50k turns into $150k 😂😂😂
AutotopiaLA yep 69 Chevelle that was almost gone. Im about halfway there lol. Not a cheap hobby
Not even close 100k.
The first thing I liked about this car is the stance! Then the color and the simplicity! Very nice!
Same for me. It’s all just simply right imo
Wow factory manual four wheel disc. Unheard of
I didn’t know that existed
It didn't, he's full of sheeott!
Umm... no, he’s not on this one.
It just reminds me of highschool. These cars were everywhere! Then all of a sudden they dissapeared.
Yeah, glad he still had this one and drives it
9k already Shawn
Crazy Sam! Love seeing the growth and new people checking it out.
I’ve been spreading the word of this channel. So I may got you a 100 some subscribers😁
Lol!!! I'm always a little nervous about getting pulled over right about the time I stand on it a little.
Fathom blue, not Phantom blue
Thanks for the correction
I’m liking this style of build more and more
Heard to believe even a simple build like this still cost 100k very discouraging
Custom cars add up when done right.
"Plain" or "simple" is a style not a budget. It's probably still a complete nut and bolt frame off restoration and there goes your 100 grand. Sure you could build a car for a lot less that on the street or on camera looks pretty much just like it but see them up close in person and you'll see where the money went.
100k don’t go far…..
The sexiest car ever made doesn't need fancy wheels or paint job, it just is
