Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this UA-cam channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
"1920! This place has been here so long", That's like the new shop on that block compared to many other shops in that part of town. :)
The Riddarholm church was built in 1280. and is the oldest building in Old Town. So 1920 is like all new!!
@petterhny And 28 years *after* my granddad was born ;)
Stickholm is a beautiful city. Hope you make it to Stockholm too!
CNVideos haha jävla kung
Omg thank you
Bruh I noticed that too 😂
*swedish triggered noises*
LOVE to Sweden - we Danes love our Swedish cousins. Fika simply resembles the Norwegean/Danish word hygge :-) … I admire the Swedes very much - as the Dane I am :-)
As a swede i adore Denmark, love it.
can you start putting the date you were in these cities? since the vlogs aren't in real time anymore so that way we can get a better idea of time frame of when to expect this kind of weather in different locations
Alec Betz BRILLIANT suggestion ☺️
This was in June I believe.
that would be awesome!
May 27th for this one. If you watch closely enough, they usually find a way to incorporate it on their phone in the videos.
Judging from the white nights (no darkness at all) that was very late May early June.
It's extra expensive because you went to all the the touristy places.. I mean they even put signs in english.. that's not happening anywhere else in Sweden.
Erik yeah old town is super expensive to start with but then they choose to go to probably the most expensive café in all of old town aswell 😂
KittenCritters in the US rich people typically buy only the most expensive of each product. Its been like that for a long time, cause the cheapest products (food, clothes, etc.) will not be good for you lol
@@BucketPukes1969 yes but Sweden ain't like that
Sweden in general is expensive compared to many other countries and I found signs in English in Kiruna above the article circle.
The house that is from 1920 is probably the newest building in Gamla Stan (old town)🙃
I belive, it's not the house, but the café that is from 1920. But yes, most buildings are from the 1300s to 1600s. Although some (not all) got modernized fasades in the 1800s and, of course, electricity and plumbing in the mid 1900s.
There's a restaurant in Gamla Stan that's still open since the 1700's
@@Yonteh Yes, Gyldene freden, since 1722 (at Österlånggatan 51).
@@herrfriberger5 Exactly. Bellman used to go there.
@@Yonteh St. Peter stifftkeller in Salzburg (A) says "Hold my beer…"
Opened its doors in year 865 (no there is not a 1 missing)
Love that ABBA's 'Knowing Me, Knowing you' was playing while Kara was explaining Fika.
Welcome back 🇸🇪 Sweden have so much more to see.. The nordic lights, the beautiful archipelago and much much more!
What a beautiful place. Never imagined Stockholm with the old historic buildings. Meatballs looked amazing. Sweden added to bucket list....
just teling you am from sweden
I remember being in Norway and being shocked at how late the sun went down! Loved this vlog, Sweden is such a great country!
Who told you that was the the best café in Stockholm? The best places to have coffee with pastries are typically at a _konditori,_ i.e. a café with its own bakery.
Wondered that too...and the restaurant, there are better places for meatballs!
I mean when do tourists ever get it right really, you almost have to know someone in town to get it right or do proper research.
Karas excitement for everything makes me want to know her and be friends with her. She makes all traveling seem so fun and awesome!!! Love your content I've been here for such a long time!
Back in the states I used to always have the meatballs in Ikea, now we have to go and try the real thing! But then this price might have us running back LOL! It reminds us of paying $20 for a subway in Iceland! Great video again guys keep it up!
Thats because most ingredients are imported in Iceland. If you wanna eat cheap there go for the fish.
We loved vlogging in Stockholm this past summer!! It was so much fun!! We loved all the islands, the meatballs, and of course the old town!! Great job on the amazing vlog!
The prices depends on where you go in Sweden, like Stockholm that's one of our more expensive city's, but the smaller one like sundsvall is more cheap and it's unique city too, lots of Olds buildings, cafes, bars and restaurants
Just love you two! My husband and I are thinking of taking a trip to Sweden in September, I enjoyed your vlog so much!
I stumbled over this video as a recommended one and well considering you are vlogging from one of my favorite cities ever I am so excited. Love my country, Love Stockholm. Love how nice you've shown it and happy you got to experience it in the best weather ever.
I love the way kara spins with the hand open in every video😍😍😍
mohit barhate The Kara-spin is classic!!
Haha! Glad you liked Sweden so much, you definitely should go back there. I’m half Scandinavian/Swedish, and visit every summer.
Stockholm is without a doubt, one of my favorite places!
I found you guys this summer and have been binge watching your videos from the beginning. Today, I have just caught up to current! My husband and I love to travel and you’ve given me so many places I want to see. :)
Wt amazing ppl ur.. like imagine two ppl have travelled to most of the countries.. did all type of adventures (skuba diving , bungy jumping, hot air balloon etc)it is like a dream come true and seeing u ppl doing this is so amazing.. love ur vlogs.. stay like this only👍👍👍
What a WONDERFUL city. And the video captured the experience so well. The rich colors of the Older City. The camera work is fresh and imaginative followed by the editing which is ALWAYS creative and fun. Love love LOVE the “outtakes.” You need to put together a “Bloopers” segment one day. Thank y’all for your hard work amidst all your fun. Love and hugs from Little Rock, AR.
Cool to see someone else from Little Rock loving these videos! They always inspire me to explore!
I was stationed at LRAFB...that count?
So glad to have you here in Sweden!! Welcome back anytime ❤
Love Sweden!! I was there for a conference a couple of years ago in Uppsala and spent a day in Stockholm!! Also loved the fact that ABBA was playing in the background in the coffee shop 😂😂
Sweden is my home country and where i live, this country is honestly beautiful. I dont live in Stockholm but i have been there multiple times. Im glad that you guys enjoyed your time here in Sweden, especially our food haha!
I love you guys so much!! Love watching the vlogs!! ❤️❤️
Nice touch weaving in the local video describing Fika. Bravo
enjoy fika! :) greets from Poland , neighbour of sweden
It is so exciting to see you enjoying our litte country of Sweden!
I think it is important for you to know why the scandinavian countries are so expensive. Unlike other places in Europe, people get a decent wage at their job and they have benefits as well as good working conditions. The same is true for Denmark as well, which I know you just visit.
Hej! I've been waiting for you guys to vlog a trip to Stockholm for so long xx
Passing time in an airport and a video pops up from my fav youtubers. You guys are great
Once again I'm waking up to an awesome video!!
Oh, what great life. Love to watch people having great life
The situation with the sun set and sun rise is crazy!!! Like Woah!!
Thanks for another great video. love from South Africa x
I was so sad when I missed yall by a week! I loved Stockholm and the weather was crazy amazing!
Love the clean mic! So fresh & so clean clean!
I live in Stockholm and i have never been to any of these place and now i want to go and Explore and i love this feeling
Hur kan du inte vart runt?
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
Hey guys, yet another awesome vlog!
Keep it up; the best travel vlog channel for me. Truly appreciate your sincerity and dedication you've put in these vlogs
Canada has refills too at many places! Good thing you’re here right now ;)
Can we take a momento to appreciate how beautiful is looking Kara's hair in this vlog!!?
Wow i've watched a lot of your videos and it just dawned on me that I had fika at that same shop when i was there! Such a cute little shop right down the street from those large buildings! Whoa!
Abba in the background!!! Love it!
I love your vlogs, gr8 editing as usual Kara!
We loved their loooonnnggg sunsets! Okay I'll stop gushing hahaha
Nate, I love how price conscious you are!! My husband is the same way. If he's going to pay big bucks he expects a lifetime of use out of it. He doesn't go cheap if it's something we will use often though he buys the best quality. He would have swallowed hard to buy 8 meatballs for $20. I would have spent my time telling him why it was worth the money and to remember the free refill on his coffee earlier and to be happy. It's so great that you go try the expensive stuff every once in a while.
in NYC there's a swedish coffee place called FIKA and it's amazing, the best alternative to the other coffee stops because they have little things to nibble on both savory and sweet + amazing coffee. PLUS if you go to the one in soho, you can actually watch their pastry chefs as they make everything through a glass wall!
You wrote Stickholm at the beginning 😂
It looks like Nara and Kate made an error there. Oops!
Also ‘caffiene’ at 5.15
I guess that’s what happens when you upload at 1 a.m. 😂
least you both now know we pay attention to what you write x
seems to me...your anal about spelling...
meaningless words, that your dwelling
sentance swelling...quite compelling...
now,all of a sudden...fans are yelling...
what an assholm....to me you say
i spelt all mine right...now stay away
The Montage after the video introduction was bomb
I appreciate your hard work. I look forward to your videos. Very professional. Your videos are Beautiful,Enjoyable, and Entertaining. Proud to be a patreon member.
Thank you, guys! Once again, perfect clue 🙏💚🇧🇬 I just took a picture of your signature in this Fika place
Love every minute of your vlogs but i live for the bloopers at the end ❤️
❤️❤️❤️
ker109 Me too!
I love that ABBA was playing while you got your Fika
I was studying and living in sweden for couple years, it wasn't so expensive compared to salary out there. It's just because of taxes for the best and free public services they served for most of all scandinavian country.
I love every single video of you both guys.
Cheers!!!
That background at 3:02. Gorgeous!
every time I watch one of your videos of you guys trying food I end up so hungry. lol love you guys! awsome videos!
The Hilton Stockholm Slussen was where I stayed a couple years ago. For anyone going to Stockholm and would also like to go to Helsinki, the overnight Viking Line ferry is very inexpensive, especially off-season. I went in September, and the two night (round trip) fare, including a basic private room with shower, I don't even think was €35. Cheaper than dirt.
Omg it just kr- look---- 50kr=5 dollars
Stockholm is a beautiful city,I've always wanted to go.your vlogs have inspired to go.
Love this so much
I loved his " DESPRIPTION" :) LoL
Kara I love your personality. You and Nate got me back to loving to travel. I am in Stockholm country #49. I was at the same cafe in this video today. I looked for your signature could not find it. I will try again. ❤️
I literally live in Sweden and seeing them in Stockholm is soo cool and the videos yall make is so good!
I just love your vlogs
great video bro
Yeeeee
Nice video and I’m glad you guys enjoyed Sweden!
I’m from Sweden and have lived in Stockholm my whole life! But just a tip tho for all tourists visiting Stockholm, if you’re going to Gamla Stan just go there for an hour or two to see what it looks like. Don’t go there for lunch, dinner or for other tourist stuff. People that live in Stockholm call it a “tourist trap” if you go there for more than just the nice architecture!
Most of the food and other stuff like that are pretty shit and overpriced. Like don’t get me wrong, It’s a beautiful place and Iike Gamla Stan a lot because I went to school there. But almost the only people from Stockholm that are there regularly are the people that either live or work there. And almost nobody does that, because it’s a super tiny place. If you don’t fall into those categories you’re almost never there because it’s a pretty boring place after being there for a few times.
If you’re going to visit Stockholm and you like shopping, good food, fika and just to explore new cities in general then you should go to the City centre because everyhing fun happens there and the food, fika and shopping is great.
Södermalm, Vasastan and Östermalm are a must visit as we’ll if you ask me. There are a lot more fun things to do in those four parts of town then in Gamla Stan. And if you want to meet local people and actually eat genuinely good food those are the places to go!💫✌️
Now im happy i picked Sodermalm over Gamla Stan but maybe i should have picked the city centre based on your comment 🤷
@@yearlawYou did very well in my opinion. As a fellow Swede myself and as someone who’s lived in Stockholm my entire life, choosing to stay in Södermalm rather then the city centre as a tourist isn’t a worse move per say. If anything it could quite possibly make your stay more authentic from a locals perspective. It take for granted you visited the more central part of town during the days, so you saw that anyways.
On a side note, I do agree with the original comment regarding Gamla Stan. It’s a bit sad since the scenery is so nice. But going there for more than the viewing and architecture is a total waste of time and resources!
Went to England Belgium and the Netherlands in July 2018 the prices were not tooooo high but it also was extremely expensive compared to Israel Jordan and Turkey that we went to in may 2018. The value and amazing food in the middle east is sooooooo worth taking a visit and the countries are just beautiful as well
I was in Stockholm at the end of March and it was snowing :D :D
I noticed the difference in sound immediately.... it sounds so beautiful as if you dubbed it afterwards. And it picks up a lot of the sounds around you. Not sure if the sound was this good before. But I really noticed it and then you guys showed the new mic.
It's great that you could enjoy the nice weather in Stockholm. This summer has been the warmest that I can remember. Also summertime is the best time to visit Sweden I would say if you don't like it when it's cold and dark (but you can go skiing then and also light a lot of candles) Also I want to apologize for the prices here. It is expensive compared to many other parts in the world. I'm glad to hear that you could enjoy our meatballs even though they come with a price.
you should definitely visit the north of sweden in the summer and see the midnight sun, it's beautiful
So good. I was in Stockholm for three nights in December as a poor backpacker 18 years ago. I was poor and freezing. lol.
The intro music 😍😍
I really really really really really really really really really really love your videos I never get bored y’all ar amazing 😉
omg i am living in Sweden so fun that you guys were here
The cafe where you had your Fika is my favorite place in Stockholm. Mine and my husbands names are signed on the wall just behind you. We go every time we are in the city. ❤️
A really good video!
Omg I have waited for you to visit Sweden for so long, how exciting! About the thing with the free refill it’s called “påtår” = on toes (sneak on your toes) and if you go to Finland they have the same thing but they call it “santsikuppi” :)
No, ”påtår” does not mean ”on toes” in this context. ”Tår” is an old expression for a small amount beverage. ”Påtår” is a refill (påfyllning) of that beverage.
just now found these vlogs of yours & wow stockholm's changed a lot in four years haha. a lot of the construction that were in the central where u stayed is finally done (like literally last year) so i think u should absolutely make your way back here in the near future to really experience how nice it can be when it's not a giant construction site 😂
Can we talk about how ABBA was playing in the background of the cafe during your Fika? Sweden is the best
Wow sweden looks amazing. Just wanted to say that Ayesha and I feel horrible you'd probably be in calgary a week after we leave. We were hoping to catch you before we made our trip. Enjoy Canada. We definitely can recommend a lot of great restaurants in calgary on 17th ave. Once again thanks for inspiring us to make a trip of a lifetime.
Some great filming and editing there! I’d love Nate to make a filming course!
I hope you’ll visit Sweden again soon, maybe even smaller cities north of Stockholm!☺️
I like Swedish meatballs and fika..great intro song..yay. Fantastic video. Love it
I hope you enjoyed my hometown 🇸🇪 The FIKA is an essential thing 😀
I hope you had a great time in Stockholm!
Stickholm is amazing! Hope you will like Stockholm when you get there!
Oh my gosh!! I recognized the thumbnail instantly!! We were just there in Stockholm in May and ate at Cafe Schweizer at least three times!! Their OJ *drool* Hopefully you guys wrote your names on the wall!
9:02 is when Nate goes into full on dad form, I think you'll be prepared when y'all choose to go that route 🤣
I finally clicked notification on youtube channel. :)
Hiya. Having watched this, I realise I apparently Fika ALL day, EVERY day! LOL. All the best to you.
Great, thanks a lot you two, now I have to add Stockholm to my travel list! $$$$ 😂
Make sure to have a good sized budget. It is expensive. I mean, you can always do a cheap lunch at ikea, which is excellent value for money, but not very touristy.
Amazing guys as always me and my wife we love you guys, we also trying to travel and create videos hope meet you guys one day 😊😊♥️
omg the places u guys went to are unusually expensive hahah even for Sweden!!
Påtår, which is the free refill is not a standard in Sweden. It is up to the coffee shop, or "fiket" if you will call it so. But for instance at the restaurant you are usually given option to get coffee for free during the lunch hours.
The guy explaining what a “fika” is, is sooooo cute😍
The first admiration 👍🏻
