Stockholm - the only capital city where I have seen a crowd build up to see a man land a fish. And where I first enjoyed watching the world go past from a coffee shop
Great video, very informative and fun! I'm flying to Stockholm on Friday (from Scotland). Looking forward to checking out all the places you visited. You have a new subscriber :)
Last august me and my granddaughter traveled to Stockholm with the Snalltarget and it was absolutely amazing. So I am really curious about your experiences in the next video😊 Stockholm is really beautiful!
I used to live on the top floor of the building opposite the Nobel museum at Stortorget. I like to say its the least photographed building in Gamla Stan since its right next to the much more interesting coloured buildings, still fun to see it on every vlog pretty much
I loved this video! I want to go there just for the pastries and the Fika! Old Town reminded me of Old Town in Zurich which we loved! The cobblestone streets are so cool. We've just returned from 10 days in Queenstown NZ and had a fabulous time!
In Sweden, the fika rast or coffee break is really important. It’s for everyone. Newly employed or CEO, you are expected to be there and socialise. Avoiding it because you are busy is bad. Kanelbulle is something you should try if you get here and don’t miss the Semla if you are here during January until Easter which is the season for this pastry
Thats my favorite cafe at skansen too. Only downside is they dont have an espresso machine, but that would also take away some of its charm and swedish tradiarion of cofee in grandma mugs. Their outside tables are so cozy in the spring when the sun starts to finally warm
Oh how cool you've been to that cafe! Yes, I did quite enjoy the grandma cups and coffee in a pot - definitely makes it cozy! I can imagine it would be lovely in warmer weather!
Cool video, as a swede touristing in stockholm is basically exactly what u did. Walkin around Skansen is a must and as an animal lover its a great aquarium and really great enclosures for the animals.
ANOTHER TRAIN VIDEO COMING!!?? You are very much a girl after my little ol' heart. I love a good train trip. Can't wait to see what you get up to on your latest train adventure and really loved this video. I've not been to Sweden unfortunately. But I'm looking forward to one day visiting a friend in Finland, and then going through Sweden and Norway and ideally, visiting Svalbard for it's farthest north community vibes
The elderly care home is interesting. Many years ago a russian ship cam to Stockholm amd it may not have had proper maps. The Captain thought he was looking at the Royal Castle so he shot salute. It probably scared those that were there
@@chloeandludvig If you like street food, maybe you tried the ”tunnbrödsrulle”. It’s very popular but endemic to Sweden. I knew the guy who invented it. His kiosk, Loffes Grill, was close to where I grew up in a Stockholm suburb. One day came someone and ordered something for which he didn’t have the ingredients. Unwilling to lose a customer, he improvised and used what he had and the customer was quite happy so it became a new dish. When Anthony Bourdain visited Sweden he tried one but not from Loffe. You can find videos on the tunnbrödsrulle on youtube.
This old wives tale has been told about various navies at different times. It's somewhat ironic that the version with the ship being Russian became the most common one as it is entirely implausible. The Russian navy has only been allowed to visit once, and that was much, much more recent than the this tall tale.
The tour guide hade wrong. Cinderella was the party boat but have now been insert on the route Stockholm - Helsinki and are a normal ferry, before she did partycruises 23 hours to Mariehamn. Now the company have a new ship to do these cruises but i do not think she ever will be at the same level of partycruises as Cinderella.
I wached the video again and still didn't see the name. Lol. I think I need better eye glasses. 😅. But thanks for letting me know the name. I will surely visit next month. @@chloeandludvig
The Cafe Sten Sture has an interesting history. In 1792 the king Gustav III was killed by a man called Jacob Johan Anckarström. He was found guilty and was held imprisoned in the dungeon until he was hanged. The dungeon is part of todays Cafe Sten Sture.
Hey Chloe! So sorry I'm late to this vid, but while I'd like to say I was just enjoying our garden and the weather (which I was), it was really that I got very angry at the latest Star Wars show!😂 Don't worry, I could never be angry at you or Ludwig,...unless there's an obscure Scandinavian folk tradition that involves kicking puppies in which case we would no longer be friends.😡 This is an absolutely delightful and informative vid. One thing, you had an absolutely appetizing meal at the Michelin Starred restaurant...how much did your meal cost? Because Michelin would usually be PRICEY!!! Sooo, looking forward to the train!💕
Hehe no worries Brian! Thanks for joining me! I can assure you - there is no such Scandinavian folk tradition 😆 the lunch cost me around 400 sek which is around 40 usd ish :)
@@chloeandludvig Hey Chloe! As a 40 year student-cook (and in North America, we have some SERIOUS food channels!) that you got a Michelin-starred meal for that price is ABSOLUTELY incredible! Still hoping there's no weird puppy-kicking ceremony??? 😂😂😂😂 Of course , I kid!💕
There used to be an anarchist tradition that when you had the traditional marches on May 1:st and passed the castle, you would shout: "Where shall we live? There shall we live! Occupy the castle, 800 rooms!" Then there was pretend storming which always caused a panic among the guards, as there were new ones every year.
I’ve learned so much about Sweden, thanks to your videos Chloe! Your bubbly personality makes your vlogs such fun to watch!
Aw thank you so much Lisa!! That means a lot!! Really glad you learnt a few things 🥰🥰
Awesome video Chloe! I’m so impressed by your “single traveler” bravery!! I always learn so much from your videos. Thank you!!
Thanks so much! Stockholm is a great city for solo travel.
You have done a fantastic work creating this, you should be hired by the tourist council of stockholm....
Thank you so much for the kind words! I will email them hehe 😜
9:54 the ~40 euros is for the annual pass. A single ticket for adults is between 18 and 25 euros depending on the season. (kids are around 8 euro)
Ahhhh good to know - thanks for sharing :)
Stockholm - the only capital city where I have seen a crowd build up to see a man land a fish. And where I first enjoyed watching the world go past from a coffee shop
There sure are a lot of coffee shops to do that ;)
04:20 That ship that is a youth hostel (af Chapman) is for sale if you need a central place to stay...
Great video, very informative and fun! I'm flying to Stockholm on Friday (from Scotland). Looking forward to checking out all the places you visited. You have a new subscriber :)
So glad you enjoy it Bruce! Excited for you to experience everything Stockholm has to offer :)
The VASA museum is also a must see in Stockholm.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing :)
That looks like great fun, never thought about visiting Stockholm before.
You should! I absolutely love it there 😍
Loved this tour of Stockholm. Sadly it’s not in my future but I can travel vicariously with you.

@@chloeandludvig Great! Thank you very much.
Do you know that the Stockholm bloodbath took place at Stortorget ?!
Nice presentation of our capitol city!
In anyway I like to go there as a tourist, its a good mix between tourism and ordinary Stockholm life!
Thank you so much for watching!😍
I like the yellow beanie. Like your signature color. 😊
Haha, it kind of is, isn't it ;)
That "palace" was always intended to be an elderly care home. The turn of the century from 19th to 20th was just a time for making everything pompous.
We once had a state visit from the Russian fleet and they mistook it for the Stockholm Castle. The elderly were very impressed by the salutes.
@@Motbilder nope, that's an old wives tale. We've only had one state visit from the Russian navy ever and it was much more recent than the story.

There is more than 10.5, there was going to be a count but the governement cancelled it. They did an estimate of over 17 million. I would guess 20-25.
