Food is our favorite way to discover a new place, and Denmark has a lot of unique and delicious foods we had never heard of before! So today we set out to try as many as possible. We took scooters and bikes all around Copenhagen to eat the best local foods we could find!
Thank you Cindy for the great food recommendations! foodsofcopenhagen.com/

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this UA-cam channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
As a viewer, I love Kara's energy. Travelling isn't always easy but her joy and positivity are infectious!
Her attitude is admirable!
I love them both but Kara is just so captivating to watch and listen to!!❤🇨🇦❤🇨🇦❤
Oh yeah I used to work as a chef in Copemhagen. Now in a different country. The food qualiity in Copenhagen is by far the best i`ve encountered.
Kara, you missed your chance to try a hotdog again. Denmark has very high food standards. You wouldn’t have gotten a better quality hotdog anywhere else.
With pickles, roasted onions and onions. Our unofficial national dish 😋
13:45 OMFG that's not a traditional Danish hotdog 😥
You can get food poisoning in Denmark, too.
@@jojobee42 You are 200-300 times more likely to *die* in traffic than to get food poisoning in Denmark.

From a local:
I really like your style of presenting, and your kind words! :)
PS: Please come back in summertime ─ the city & citizens are twice as nice ☀️
I am not from Copenhagen. I'm from Nordjylland but that is so true. Danes are much nicer in the summertime.
Thank you for not hating them simply because they're American. It's really nice to hear/read comments from non-Americans who don't dislike us because of our nationality. lol
Neanderthal Cave Becky I know right? Most of the comments are really discouraging lol
@@Thatonegirl989 I do see many comments that are really encouraging, though. Most of the Danish people commenting seem genuinely happy that these two were experiencing their country.
@@AmandaFromWisconsin Americans are ignorant and self-righteous. They hold opinions that they're not able to justify and they will argue about things that they have no clue about.
I love how Kara is ALWAYS excited to eat food < my literal spirit animal>
Hahaha always :)))
Addicted to these vlogs! Oh my, that cappuccino!
I live in Copenhagen and actually never tried the food from any of these places - but you definitely inspired me to try them :D
I will say though... Try smørrebrød from small shops or even some of the supermarkets, not the really expensive restaurants, 'cause they are more authentic to what we Danes would actually eat :)
Great video!
2:53 This Legendary man is: Kim Larsen he is the best musician in Denmark's history. And is loved by 99% of Denmark. A true inspiration. He sadly passed away (September, 30 2018)
He made songs such as: Papirsklip and Midt Om Natten. We still every night, at least when people go out. Sing his songs till the early morning.
"I can't do it. I'm not ready!" haha. Once again - a great viewing experience! You are both a delight! :)
Loved the “Food with Kara” Sesh 😂. You guys need to do this in every country!!
Guys- I’m not a super tech savvy guy, but I can definitely see the camera quality upgrade during the interviews in this episode. Really appreciate y’all being awesome at your craft!
Wooohoo great to hear! Thanks 😁
I love how the lady said "don't advertise our restaurant"...LOL
Pretty much sums up the spirit of Christiania, keep it local.
You all are so entertaining! Sometimes I’m scared for you, sometimes I’m joyous with you, sometimes I can almost taste the food with you...but always, I love to travel with you! (And you’re both cute as a button)
This comment made me smile so big! Thanks Emma!
"Rolling a you know what." I laughed so hard.
What did she mean?
For peoples information, cafés and streetfood places in Denmark are pretty exspensive, compared to alot of "normal" resturants here :)
Sure, but not really. You wouldn't have a meal for the price of the burger he had at any restaurant unless it's a McD, Burger King or a local Grillbar. But the portions are small at streetfood and most cafés for sure, and would be more expensive to have the same size of meal . :)
A lot of the normal restaurants are more expensive than the street food markets in Copenhagen. Maybe not in many other parts of Denmark.
I’m heading to Copenhagen in about 6 months from New Zealand... these guys post awesome videos... But always interested in a locals opinion. So where’s good?
@@mayner17 You can go to Refshaleøen outdoors street food which is closed in the winter but should be open by the time you arrive here. You can also go to Copenhill (a building where you can ski down, pretty expensive tho). I would recommend going to Louisiana museum of modern art, although it is pretty far north of Copenhagen. Check out Christiania, Nyhavn, Nordhavn (for bathing), Amalienborg, Marmorkirken, the canal tour (Nyhavn), Strøget, Rundetårn, Vor frelsers kirke and Tivoli. If you want to go for a nice walk, there is Dyrehaven (Forest) where you can see lots of deer and also an amusement park :)
@@mayner17 hi, have you made it to Denmark? I'm looking for a travel buddy around the world. What do you think?) maybe we can Fb messenger? I'm Facebook.com/nadia.isaenko
You should go in the summer. It's truly a different country and town in the summer.
My life is simple...
I see a notification from Kara and Nate, I click.
hahahahahaha best
Hahaha! Same here!
😂👏🏼
Right!
When I saw this video I got so excited because I love it when Karas eyes light up when she tries something really good on your guys' food tours
The way you two describe the food is perfect! Makes me really want to try these dishes! Y'all are amazing!
I have learned so much from you two; mainly how to have fun and love each other. Thanks
I love that she remade your cappuccino 😂 how nice!
Right?! 💗☕️

Kara and Nate have making travel vlogs down to a fine art. Every post is a joy to watch and inspiration.
Its a 32 years since I went to Copenhagen, and when I went I had no money so didn't eat out a lot!...
I love your Food tours... come to Cornwall (England)and I would organise one for you!
Keep it up, you make us all smile.
I would be interested in that too. Something about the Cornish surname ...
YAS! Noma is on my bucket list! It’s neat that they have spin off spots. This food tour was one of my favorites so far! Y’all are beauts. ❤️
I love how there's lots of organic and fresh stuff! Definitely wanna visit one day.
Kara enjoying and describing the food is honestly such a mood😆
Try coming back in summer 🎉
What an inspiration you two are! Thank you for sharing your lives with us! Nearly every video you post, I end up adding something to my bucket list!
I am in... LOVE with your vlogs❤️💗💙
Right on time! I'm going to Copenhagen in less than 2 weeks so these vlogs will come in handy. Thank you guys! Can't wait for the next one.
Very nice city, but very expensive indeed.
I really love this couple! They are so positive, so smiling, so respectful to the people and cultures they meet - every time I watch them (especially charming Kara, btw Nate you are ok too..) I am all big smiles! What a wonderful couple you are. Ever coming to Norway - I'll be your guide :-)
It's because they're a cute pisces couple.
I was prepared today, I ate before watching your video! Thanks for a delightful food tour of Copenhagen! As always, take care and Happy Travels!
I soak up so much inspiration for future travels, every time I watch your videos🙏😁love you guys!
When Kara Said: grød, i love it, its always funny when people try to speak the Danish language 😂❤️❤️❤️.
Someone should do a video with Karas face expressions while testning new food 😂😂😍
I would actually love that🤣
Love your videos, especially those with food tours 😍🙌🏼
I found your channel recently after I visited New York and fell in love with travelling! Your videos are amazing and remind me how stunning this earth is :) love from London, UK
Awww that's so great to hear Elise! Thanks for following!
Danish food rocks! That soup of the day looks delicious :p ...Love this one Kara and Nate!
Love the video I have finally caught up with all your travels only finding you a month ago. Fantastic content especially enjoyed the different train journeys. Cant wait to see the next up load x Sarah-Jane from Scotland 🏴
You guys deserve more views your content is A1 keep up the great work! :)
Addicted to these vlogs, adding more and more countries to my foodie travel list!! Come to Scotland!!!
Oh thank you for a longer vlog today! :D Kara why are you so extra adorable in this video? Is it because Copenhagen is the happiest city on earth? lol Also very expensive, wow. I hit pause so many times in this video to check out menus, food, etc, that was the most beautiful raw fish+beets I've ever seen, and the bahn mi vegan dog, oh my! Def putting Copenhagen on the bucket list. And I will make sure to have a stash of napkins in my purse 😂
You just got a new subscriber :) you guys are great... i´m glad you enjoyed being in Denmark and visiting my country and even made me feel like i need to explore my own country more! thank you
Yay, love longer videos!!! Love to wake up to your videos 💜
Thank you so much Ashley!
Growing up I always loved travel channel, and now it's your vlogs! You both are great at captivating your audience while making us feel like we're walking around town with you. Keep it up, I'm so excited to see your 100th country soon!!

I LOVE your long vlogs these days, guys! I'm thinking about a stopover in CPH when I'm in Europe next spring and this is putting me over the edge!
I so LUV ur food tours
Omg your reactions to foods make my day. I always get such joy watching you guys 🥰
You guys are so good with your camera shots and editing! Seriously, you need to have your own tv show!!! You’re so easy to watch! I can’t wait for the next video! 😁🥰
Can I please tell you how much I LOVE FareDrop?!? We just got two emails last night for locations on my husband’s and my dream travel list! AMAZING!! ✈️❤️. Great job with this service guys!
Hello from Indiana! I came across your videos one day and now I am going through all of them. You all make me smile! Y’all are just great!
I enjoy the mix of scenes, from real time shots to the sped up clips while traveling through the city. It gives a nice variety and I can see the surroundings, know somewhat what to expect if I go, and yet it doesn't take up too much of the video's time. Nicely done editing!
Thanks Phyl 🤗
Amazing to see you on home ground. You really captured the essence! Well done. PS: “Tak fordi du så med” 😉
When she said Denmark is known for its coffee, Denmark got on my bucket list !
All of the nordic countries drink a ton of coffee. They have the highest consumption of coffee per capita in the world.
It is, but also very expensive coffee. Expect to spend around 5+ euros on cappuccino
Chieki Shinzato-Frashure Copenhagen actually got the worlds most expensive coffee haha, so better save up some money
@@bsclopez Only if u dont know where to buy it.. ;)
if you like coffee, don't go to Denmark, go to Italy, or Austria, or anywhere on the Balkans. The coffee in Denmark is terrible (but they don't know better). It took me a year in Denmark to find a place with a coffee that is deserving of its name. Not to mention the cheapest "espresso" costs as 2 more fancy coffee options in other countries.
these are so good, i’ve watched for so long and always wanted to go to Copenhagen
Come in summertime
You guys always make my day better! Can’t wait to start traveling!
I went to Denmark many years ago, beautiful place and I had the best yogurt, bread was outstanding and had the herring that i really enjoyed.
I would definitely recommend going to Tivoli gardens during the summer next time. So fun!
Kara I love the way you describe your food tasting experience!
I am so glad I stumbled across you guys. I love watching your videos. What I appreciate the most (and what I tell people who have never watched you before) is your attitudes. I know it cant always be good, but you both seem to be genuinely happy/joyful no matter where you are. The first video I ever saw was when you were on the Trans-Siberian Railroad, and you were so happy that you had hot water!?! I have to be honest, I fully expected you guys to complain about every little thing. But you didn't. I love watching you two experience new places. Thank you
I don’t know why, but Denmark wasn’t on my bucket list at all. And after your last two videos I’m dying to go to Copenhagen!! ❤️
Megan Peiffer make sure you visit Copenhagen in the summertime. It’s so much better.
Carsten Hoei thanks for the advice!! ❤️🙏🏼
If come to denmark then i will hope you like denmark
There is a lot more to Denmark than Copenhagen
There are so many other beautiful places than just Copenhagen. Try to visit all the bigger islands, Sjælland, Fyn, Lolland, Bornholm and the 'main land', just because it isn't an island Jylland :) There are so many special places, with great food and experiences
Really looking forward to seeing what your 100th country will be!! 😊

I love these videos! They always males my Day!☺️🙌🏼
Love your vlogs 💖 these Copenhagen vlogs are perfect for me right before I go in a few weeks too. 😍 Thanks for the tips!
I just love the way Kara desribes the soup. Just the way Kara desribes food she loves. You did went to the best places and things are just expensive in Denmark anyways I am so happy that you went to Copenhagen!
So a good video guys !! Loving all the vlogs !! Love from Ireland xx
Thanks Bella!
I love going back and watching these older episodes!!✌🐢
Yay!!! New vlog!!! So excited!!!
Congrats guys!.. only 9 more countries to finish ur goal.. I'm regularly watching all ur videos and u guys really amazing. All the best ... I'm one of ur huge fan... Love from India💓
That Danish bread. I ate so many amazing meals in Copenhagen, but the thing that really stuck out to me was how amazing their freshly made bread was. I've never had anything come close in America.
It's actually true, now that I think about it. I'm Danish, but have lived abroad many years. I still miss the Danish bread, and the variety.
watching this makes my stomach all warm and hungry for food.... its a great way to connect with the local food culture. watching this on anniversary and memory of Anthony Bourdain. you guys would make him proud. "If I'm an advocate for anything, it's to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. The extent to which you can walk in someone else's shoes or at least eat their food, it's a plus for everybody" Anthony Bourdain
Y’all are my favorite! Definitely have given me some great travel ideas and I look forward to seeing the next 9 countries! Eeekkk!
😁👏🏻
I love these videos, im currently learning the danish language while in lockdown in the uk and i plan to visit copenhagen when all of this is over! cant wait :)
Hey visiting Copenhagen - Denmark is great, but visiting other regions can provide equally amazing experiences. Denmark is a small country :)
If you want an experience beyond "Copenhagen" try visiting Aarhus (referred to as the Capitol of Jutland). A link is provided below (ignore corona virus cookies).

Love all of your trips I miss traveling so I travel through yall. Hello from North Carolina.
The quality is so much better with your new camera! Love your vlogs!
Fun fact about the Wiernerbrød/Danishes: We call them Wienerbrød due to the baking method and dough which is indeed from Austria, and was brought to Denmark by an Austrian couple way back in time, who then started taking ideas of using the dough and method to make wienerbrød which causes a huge commotion due to its popularity. Not all the recipes were Danish made but a lot were born in Denmark.
U GUYS ARE THE CUTEST COUPLE
EVERRRRR💜💜💜💜💜I love ur guys vids
Edit:I fixed some typeos lol
My first thought, before even watching it is, "I wonder if Nate will eat every Danish danish that he finds." He'll be in sweets heaven! 😂

Love this so much!!!! I reccomend you go to Malta! It has great history and food x
😍 You guys should visit rural towns in ever state after you hit your goal, I live in middle of nowhere Utah and I have to drive and hour to just get to a Walmart but it us the best place ever!
