You really have to see the skeleton in real life to fully appreciate it. Wempe here in Vienna had one this year in rose gold and it looked truly spectacular! I do wish they would get rid of the huge wooden boxes and reverted back to those small and elegant red leather bound boxes!
I agree smaller functional boxes would be quite welcomed by the collecting world... these giant modern boxes are filling closets of collectors globally!
Wonderful selection John, especially the last one :-) (BTW the 'word on the street' about Patek ADs is certainly true of the situation here in the UK! Let's just say it is probably a bit different from the golden days of buying a Patek 1930-1960. I'm not going to name them, but I personally know of two ADs who offer people hard-to-get stuff conditional on their spending a significant amount on other items. It is done entirely verbally and off-the-record, and there is an element of deliberate vagueness, but in reality there is very little misunderstanding. The latest one I heard about on the collector's grapevine went like this: "we _might_ be getting X soon, and you _might_ be able to have it". "I might be able to get it....so...?" "Hm well, it will be Christmas soon, and if you're getting yourself a new watch I expect you'll be buying your wife a truly spectacular present at the same time, wont you?" It is literally as blatant as this! Can't blame them I guess...)
Thanks for watching Jay - the blue enamel dial is quite special! In regards to ADs saying 'if this... then maybe that', it seems to be a common practice with many retailers.... very sad to see it happening so blatantly.
@@johnreardon3158 In fairness, I have benefitted from it myself. If you remember, I e-mailed you about it some months back and you expressed shock about what the AD in question was doing. But I just had to have the steel reference in question. I just had to have it.
Ok John so that skeleton Calatrava, tell me, did that come from WB? Here's why I ask, I was watching your Mayer time and you mentioned buying that from them, curious if they filmed that way back in December and just put it out yesterday. You're on to something with that watch, its extremely undervalued in this market and you know, that is the perfect watch to pick back up. Hand finished, engraved, small size (trending market) but very modern looking. If I could I would, I love it.
Hi Nef, Great question. This 5180/1G is not the same one that you saw in the WB video. I bought and sold mine late last year around the time of the holiday video and my buyer is happily wearing his 5180/1G from Collectability! I agree on your assessment of this reference, well said!!
Choice holiday selection! Happy holidays!!!
Very nice Patek Philippe watches.
Great video. I like the variety in price points!
wow enamel was dope.
Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄

Where'd you learn how to present these watches, John???
Lol, thanks Charlie. I just love sharing what I know and what I have!
